Are you saying there is a new maintenance booklet that was for the new plan? We only go through maintenance once when we hit goal the first time and then maintain for 6 weeks before we get lifetime. As lifetime we never really go through maintenance again but it would be nice if we got more guidance other than just changing our tracker and getting more points. We go through 6 weeks of maintenance to get to Lifetime membership, and then we continue to go through maintenance forever, as I see it. I always ask for the maintenance booklet when the program changes - I like to have a complete set of materials. This one has instructions for adding the 5 points and adjusting over time as necessary, but it also has tips for success and tips for handling setbacks to long term maintenance. For me, it's always good to reread this advice.

Guess I will ask for that when I go to the next meeting. Crazy!

It is not AT ALL cost effective to give everything to o everyone! Maintenance doesn't really change either. The only difference is now the suggestion is to add up to 5 points rather than 6. The maintenance booklet is mostly helpful to members when they first achieve LT.

linda72, I didn't know there was a new maintenance booklet for each new program either until someone on the old boards posted this information. As @lurker says, there's not much that's new, except for the change from 5 points added from 6 points added. But when the program changes, it's a good time for me to renew my commitment to maintenance, and having a new booklet, with helpful advice, is a good reminder to me to continue my hard work.

Hi everyone, I wish I had checked this thread earlier. I work part-time as a receptionist for WW.
We were instructed to "not give the pocket guide to anyone unless it's requested. We can give it to anyone who requests it. WW is trying to encourage everyone to rely on the E-tools more".
When we let the members know it's available upon request, everyone requested one.
Just request it, you are entitled to it no matter what type of program you are doing.

When we let the members know it's available upon request, everyone requested one. I verified with my leader this morning that the optional, $9.95 extra, hand calculator does NOT calculate SmartPoints daily and weekly budgets. Could it be that WW wants to change things such that those who decide to "drop out" can't continue to follow the program on their own? We used to tell members all the time, when they wanted to stop paying WW, to go buy or order a hand calculator online. Now, if they stop paying, the lose the ability to know what their points budgets are as they lose (or gain). Being dependent on subscription-based tools will do that to 'ya.

Ya know, I just pulled out the Pocket Guide to look at it.
I can't READ it.
I swear that WW has hired a 12-year-old with 5/20 vision to design their communications. Everything—booklets, points list, web site—is using a typeface that is extra light and almost invisible to my eyes!
When I am on the web site, I often have to invoke the Accessibility features for vision impaired to read the stuff. And I often have to use the Zoom feature on my iPhone and iPad.
So, SANTA...here's my Christmas wish:
I wish the modern world would stop using teeny, tiny typefaces that are extra light AND stop using gray type instead of black type—on web sites in books, and just everywhere.

Why is it so bad (WW not you) for me to want a pocket guide in my purse instead of constantly using my phone app? I think I will check with the receptionist where I paid for my Freestyle materials.

Audrey, you just reminded me: if anyone in our WW centers ever has to track a meal while they are there, they will be in deep doodoo because those rooms are like the Blue Cube at Nasa-AMES: totally unable to receive cellular signals. AND, although WW has internet in the rooms, they won't put in wireless access points for members to use.

zazzles, that is strange about internet at the meetings. We've don't have wi-fi but we do have a strong signal at ours and members frequently track foods and show others where to find things on the app.

I made sure to ask for my pocket guide, because back in 2015 when I signed up for the then new Smartpoints, they didn’t give me one. When I asked for it this time around, I was told it’s only for those who don’t have the app. I quickly lied and said my cell phone broke. Afterward, I was angry at myself for fibbing. Why should I have to lie about wanting a damn pocket guide? I later found out these booklets are available to all. It amazes me how there is so much misinformation among staff at meetings.

I use my phone a lot and when I am in places where I cannot access wi fi I can get very close to the max of my data plan. This happened this past month. It rolled over Friday but I was cautious the last few days because I didn't want to pay another ten dollars. How do people even know to ask for a pocket guide? Without a forum like this one, I would think WW was no longer printing them.

In my meeting people are always looking up points for things, just in the natural flow of conversation. It's not the end of the world if we couldn't, but I wouldn't be happy. I think it's a total waste to hand out pocket guides to everyone, but I don't think you should have to lie to get one if you use e-tools.

In my meeting they only had a few copies, didn’t really ever used the other one so most of us didn’t ask it it.
