SANDY- were peppermints all you had for a third meal?
I can't seem to get my body temperature regulated. I'm either freezing or burning up.
Ive been trying to organize a dive trip in July. There were supposed to be 5 couples. Once I got prices, 2 couples backed out. Now I need to get new prices because the number of rooms/rental cars has changed. We need to book flights before long as there are a limited number flying into that small island and they book quickly. We are looking at a 3 bedroom oceanfront villa with a full kitchen. There is only one at the resort, so I want to be sure and get it reserved before someone else does. I requested pricing and should hear back tomorrow.
Spoke to my college room mate today. She has put her mom into assisted living. She is showing signs of dementia. Very poor short term memory. Doesn't remember to eat, take meds, etc. Cathy has been going thru the stuff at her old apartment, deciding what to keep and what to purge. It's been very emotional for her. She is also very busy at work with a new promotion and short staffing. She described it as needing a vacation from her life. I am hoping things settle down for her after this month. She should have the apartment sorted by then and a new person hired at work.
I am supposed to stay up all night tonight. Tried to take a nap and failed, so it might be tough. I recently bought myself some dvds and may watch them to try to stay awake.
Did a HUGE mound of laundry and put an even larger stack away. Changed the sheets and told DH that Im sure we will fight with keeping these from popping off the corners. Will probably put the old ones back on as soon as they are washed. I HATE fighting with that all week.
Ok, I'm going to throw some pork chops in the crockpot.

Never got out of my jammies. I kind of felt "out of it" most of the day like I was in a dream if that makes sense. I'm thinking on top of everything else maybe I picked up a virus. I usually run a temp of about 97.2 but most of today was about 99 which is about 2 degrees hot for me. I mean in the last 2 weeks I've been at various doctors' offices 3 times and it's easy to pick something up in a doctor's office.
SANDY how fun to see a Christmas Parade.
No coffee today. Meal 1: 2 pieces gluten free bread (they are TINY) Meal 2: 1 cup bone broth Meal 3: 1/4 chicken breast and 1 cup brown rice spaghetti w/ some chopped tomatoes.
OK so the bone broth. I got those good quality bones w/ lots of marrow and connective tissue from the local farm, and slow cooked them in filtered water, cider vinegar and kosher salt for 3 days. Cooled it, skimmed off the fat and chilled the broth. So today I took the bowl out to ladle up some bone broth. LADLE? HAHA. I HEARD it was going to be filled w/ collagen in the form of gelatin?? Well it was exactly like a huge bowl of beef flavored jello!!! 'Cept bland. I could turn the bowl upside down and nothing would come out. But it's SUPPOSED to be very healing to the intestines.
And yeah SUZE, the reason I left Paleo was b/c I wasn't losing any weight so went to keto and though I LOVED the food, it was too high in fat for my gut, I think. Then the cruise and Thanksgiving were kind of a carb fest. Whether that is the reason or not, I don't know. But after this FODMAP crap, Paleo is going to seem like a feast for the senses. Onionssssssssssssssssss. GARLICCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC. MUSHROOOOOMS and ARTICHOKESSSSSSSSSSSS... I want them ALL. whaaaaa So yeah, I'll go to Paleo probably after FODMAPPING it for a few more weeks.
OK off to bed in a few. Lazy lazy day. Thankfully this was my day off on StepBet, but tomorrow I need to get in 9.4K. Should be interesting.
Ciao girls.

Sandy...I think it’s going to be more of an adjustment for Rick than it was for me....especially since we are going into the winter months. But, he plans to do his cookie baking next week, then the crew will be back for Christmas. He can unwind for a couple of weeks in January & just when he starts to get bored he can pack for vacation & off we’ll go. Did KM enjoy her birthday celebration? Kind of a bummer for these girls to have their birthday & then Christmas a few weeks later....all the fun so close together. I think Cara’s parents give her a Half birthday gift in the summer since she gets so much from everyone else now...spreads it out a bit that way.
Celeste....beef jello...not sure about that one. But, if it soothes your innards, yum yum! Do you go back to the GI dr soon?
Connie....that sounds like a great trip...I don’t dive but the oceanfront house sounds super!
Steph...so Z finally got his drivers license...yeah!
Looking for the track...kind of went off the rails this weekend. Time to jump back on before too much damage is done.
Off to bed.... good night 😴

My dd was also born in December and when she was small, we did not do anything Christmas until after her birthday. Several years we would get a tree on her day!

CONNIE... YES... Aspic. Never liked that crap. But this is really just water, salt and bones. But once I have it in the mug and then heated up you can't tell it was ever a gelatinous glob.
LOUISE have fun at the doctors and DON'T TOUCH ANYTHING. I swear I have some kind of bug that I picked up last week at the doctor. Also... try not to BREATHE while you're there. haha
ANGIE I don't go back to the GI doctor for like 3 months. If this diet doesn't do it for me, we have the $$$antibiotics on order and that's the next step. Though for me I'm going to try these natural herbal "antibiotics" which in one NIH study were as effective as the Xifaxin. So I'll try them first and have the Xifaxin on hold. If none of that works, then I guess I'll call him but not sure what he'll say other than "yeah... live with it" which seems like so many IBD people have to do. you learn to live with it.
SANDY good luck w/ the judge. I hope things go very smoothly.
Woke w/ terrible GERD but that's probably my fault. I've been trying to wean myself from Pepcid twice a day to just at night and I paid the price last night. I was hoping the time release peppermint might be enough but NO WAY. So back to experimenting. I feel as if this entire process is one big EXPERIMENT.
Wednesday Bob starts his Keytruda for his recurrent cancer. I don't know if I mentioned it but it could take UP TO 3 years! But the probable course will be 18 months to 2 years. And the medication was $150K and NOT covered by his insurance (he's not on medicare... they would have LAUGHED in his face). But the Keytruda Company is essentially going to provide it for free. No way in HELL he could afford 150K even if it were life and death. I hope he tolerates it well.
The 2 of us are a HOT MESS.

Thanks, Connie. These kiddos just keep growing up!
Louise...love the idea of getting the tree on your dds birthday & no Christmas up until afterwards. That would help keep her day special. How was your dr visit?
Celeste....hot mess for both of you indeed! My stars ⭐️ on the cost of that med!?! Something is going to have to change in health care. Hope Bob does ok on it & that he gets the desired results. Long road ahead it sounds like. Prayers for healing, peace, & patience for both of you.
Must be lawyer day. Need to leave soon to meet Rick to sign the new wills & other paperwork. Then I think we have all the retirement stuff done so we can just get on with whatever whim we have....can’t wait!
Treated myself to a mani / pedi this morning. Went with red glittery toes/same French tip on fingernails. Ring fingernails are green glitter. White snowflake designs on big toes & ring fingers. Holly jolly fun!

Celeste I hope you feel better soon.No coffee???I know nothing about IBD but I'm sure it's as bad or worse than IBS. I hope Bob does well with his treatment.I'm glad the company is paying for his treatment.
Angie Great pic of DGD.

STEPH the countdown is ON! Hang in there. SANDY sounds like things are moving along. Does Katy have her list made up for Santa? CONNIE that’s so very sad for your friend. Very stressful with her job and all– it’s good she has you for support. I’m having the same issue (grrr) with a favorite set of sheets – I think the elastic is just wearing out. Yeah, CELESTE …I’m with STEPH on the beef jello, but hot beef broth sounds good. Oh crud on picking up something at the doc! Easily done though with all those sickos. Do you write the treatments, trials and tribulations of this GI crud down? I would not remember what I did, or what I tried, when. OMG on the cost of Bob’s medication! An up to three years? Yowsers. I wish him the best, and you great patience. ANGIE – Yes! Get the legalities done and commence that retirement fun! Hi BECKY – how is your day going? Did it warm up down there – it is here. So my doctor’s visit….disappointing again. I’m applying a chemical debridement daily for the next week to prepare the tissue for a skin graft next week (pending insurance approval & cost). The area is sore right now because the doc removed the slough and put some of the debridement agent on it, so I’m not going to mess with it much today. He told me I can walk "minimally" in the boot, which means like to the bathroom in my house, but I'll probably continue as I have at least for a few days since this is already bleeding and sore from treatment today. Besides, I am really leery of the pressure the frame of the boot applies to the ankle area - which is exactly where the open area is. And so it is….continued from October 13!!!!!!!!! I’m taking Wednesday off as a vacation day – hair appointment, I’ll get my nails done and I am going to meet my gf (who is moving out of the area this month) and Robbie for lunch. Taking advantage of the calm before grades roll next week. Enjoy the day - bbl

ANGIE I have to give props to the Keytruda manufacturer (think it's Merck). B/c if insurance doesn't cover it (and Bob has decent insurance), not a WHOLE lot of folks can pony up $150,000 from their check book. He does have to pay for the administration but the doctor's office will file for his insurance. he'll have a fair amount out of pocket but I think it's like $3,000 over the course of treatment. Your nails sound like a living breathing HOLIDAY!!!
Yeah BECKY IBD is IBS taken several levels worse. Crohn's disease is a form of IBD, as is ulcerative colitis (they don't think I have Crohn's thankfully). IBS doesn't cause acutal damage to the bowel. IBD does. Frequently w/ IBD (inflammatory bowel disease vs irritable bowl syndrome) they have to remove colon but that pretty much never happens with IBS.
SO SUZE look at it this way... I said 3 awful months. So you only have 1 awful month to go! And i'm with you. I'd baby that sucker as much as possible for another few weeks. Good idea about writing things down about what bothers me and what I've tried. For instance, if you recall a couple of months ago I was saying that I had romaine lettuce on 2 different occasions and I was running to the bathroom. Also watermelons and nectarines. Well on the FODMAP, watermelons and nectarines are definite no no's, even in limited amounts, but romaine is on the OK list. Apparently not for me.
Got some stuff done... post office, Walgreens, store. I guess I best think of what I can have for dinner. I may make Veggie Beef soup again as it was so good last time and I have all this beef bone broth!!
I also have some st. Louis style ribs, but first I need to find out a FODMAP free rub.
