I didn't get up till 11:30 this morning. Probably slept close to 12 hours. But I still feel pretty crappy. My sinuses are clogged and I still cough up nasty stuff on occasion. I'm going to attempt a shower and will actually get dressed.
DH has started putting away Christmas decorations. I should help him if I can get the energy to do so. Unfortunately, he has started coughing. I hope he hasn't caught what I've got.
CELESTE- so glad Bob is tolerating the Keytruda so far.

CONNIE I hate it when I have a chest full of gunk but am not coughing it up. Mine is a productive cough, but still clear. But I woke up this AM in a sweat and I was so hot but no fever. Also very queasy which I think is part of this illness and has nothing to do w/ my GI issues. All in all I'm a MESS. It's 1PM and I've still not had a bite to eat or a sip of liquid which I have to do something about. And until the last 2 days I've averaged around 2500 steps. Just a total slug, which I feel is going to be repeated today. But I did sleep better w/ less coughing last night. One step forward, 2 steps back. This HAS to be flu and not a cold. I hope JOE doesn't get it. I've been a hand sanitizing fool but Bob started w/ a sore throat last night. He's chugging Vit C.
SANDY the EGGCELLENT burger sounds good. I know lately lots of restaurants are adding eggs to burgers. Eggs are the new "in food" whereas a couple of years ago they were practically labeled as toxic. YAYYYYYYYYY for your 1.8.
LOUISE we can cough together. I made it thru the night w/o much coughing but I'm making up for it since I've been up. I'm still in my jammies. And may stay that way all day.
Think I may have some toast in a few. Maybe start w/ some tea and see how that goes. I'm so rarely nauseated but this is just YUCK.

Hi all β Itβs a picture perfect winter day in East Texas, and has been a productive morning. Amazing what I can get done when I just βdo itβ and get busy. Laundry, and ran a couple errands, vacuumed and washed my car, stopped at the gym, dropped recyclables and have spent the last hour getting stuff organized and put away in the laundry room. The sink and a couple shelves still need to be installed, but I got a lot put away and cleaned out. I took Lu for a short walk this morning, which she loved β except that I was considerably slower than normal.
SANDY WTG on that loss! You and I must have been on the same wave length this morning with straightening up.
CONNIE, LOUISE and CELESTE⦠continue to take care of yourself, rest and get over that crud. When you feel that carpy, there is not much else to do.
I woke myself in the middle of the night grabbing my foot with pain, so decided not to do the elliptical but did go to the gym and set up an assessment with the trainer on Tuesday. The manager is really nice and βrealβ at this gym, young-ish (but everyone is to me) was in the military at a fit/low of 140 lbs, had a knee injury, married & babies, went to 247 and has gone down to just under 200. So she βgetsβ it.
The trainer has a lot of experience, with ALL ages, versus another which primarily has worked with young folk. She also has experience and certification working with para/quadriplegics, knee surgery clients, etc. so I feel good that she can make accommodations if necessary. They have a decent deal in that if you do one private training session, you can also do as many group training sessions during the week that you want. They range from basic, build which is weight training focused, and burn for cardio focused.
OK off to organize and put away my tote with wrapping stuff and cards. May go see Star Wars later.
Enjoy the day!

SUZE maybe some of the nerves that were cut or whatever during surgery are coming back to life, hence the pain in the middle of the night? Or it was God telling you "THOU SHALT NOT ELLIPTICAL UNTIL THE DOCTOR SAYS YES". Sounds like your gym and esp the trainer is a good fit. I don't want a toothpick of a girl who's never weight more than 105 telling me "You can do it." OH YEAH? YOu grab a 100 lb bag of something, and get 40 years older and then YOU try to "do it." Which is why I like the trainers here. Most of them are Seniors, but none are 20 somethings. And they all have experience and training for older people and people w/ various surgeries and injuries. They're not really physical therapists but a good next step after PT for strength and conditioning esp in w/ knees and hips etc.
OH and I got up at 11ish, got online and had a fraud query from Capital one for Walmart.com for $388. Now I do buy on WM.com and it was the card that I only use for online purchases, but I hadn't been online today .... I hadn't even been out of BED. So since it's my online card, all the regular credit card automatic purchases are on that card. My cable, the tolltag, WW, my cell phone, and my wine club. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR I am so hoarse however, that when I called the fraud department they kept calling me SIR. Maybe in the Philippines (where the call center obviously is) Sharon is a man's name but I kept saying "I'm a woman. I'm just sick." So then she just called me Barker as in "So Barker, we'll send you a new card expedited". I TOLD YA I WAS SICK!! I turned into a man!
CONNIE Bob is taking down my Christmas decorations. I am in no shape to help. So you have permission NOT to help Joe.

Good afternoon ladies. I need a nap! Didn't sleep well with the wind howling all night. Doesn't seem to be as windy now. At least the sun is shining. Worked out in the back yard this morning. Looked like Nanook from the North Pole. I had so many layers on that I couldn't bend over to pick up anything. Got the back done and was able to put food out for the birds. Was out for almost 2 hours. We have a large yard - front, back and side yard. We snow blow quite a distance away from the house as we have unfortunately had winters where we have all this snow like we had on Thursday and then the weird New England weather will give us rain. The rain has no where to go when there is a foot of snow on the frozen ground, so guess where it always finds a home - your basement! The temp has made it to 10 and it's 2:30 and still windy. Don't even know what the wind chill is. Must be at least minus 10 or lower. I have over 9500 steps already from being outside. Had to have burned a few calories just from having so much heavy clothing on!
Hope all the sickies are feeling better today. I pray that DH doesn't get sick. He had pneumonia just before Thanksgiving - actually spent the night before Thanksgiving in the ER and was on 3 rounds of antibiotics from then until the day before his surgery. The Friday before the surgery the doctor sent him for another chest x-ray and told him that he wouldn't clear him for the surgery if there was any fluid in his lungs. After almost a month, he was cleared. So ladies, please go slow and take care of yourself. Whatever this crap is that making everyone sick, it's taking forever to get rid of.
Okay, eyes are getting heavy. Time for a quick nap and then have to make a short hopefully quick trip to the grocery store. Check back later. JT

Nobody has started taking down my decorations.. Iβm enjoying them so in no rush to get it done.
Still pretty much chilling. I donβt want to do anything that might start me coughing.

Ok my burst of energy has run out! Was invited to a movie but backed out. I'm fighting a monster headache and am just dragging. So I'm going to make myself something to eat and curl up and relax. Maybe even nap.
CELESTE yes, could have been nerve pain. Yikes! Woke me out of a dead sleep.

OMG JT you are a hearty lil' soul. No way I'd even go out in that arctic windchill. I hope you got photos of "Nanook". And AMEN on this crud taking FOREVER to go away. Gross but I keep looking at what I'm blowing and hacking up and if it ever gets anything but clear/white, I'm going to the doctor. But I hate being on antibiotics AGAIN and I really hate prednisone. I don't sleep on a good night and pred wires me up like a meth addict. Drive safely to the store, Nanook!! haha
SUZE Bob and I were supposed to go to our Craft Beer club but since I still feel like death warmed over, and since Bob's probably better NOT in crowds w/ his Keytruda messing w/ his immune system, I've decided to pass. TOo bad b/c I really love the folks in this club and we always have a ton of fun. I FINALLY got out of my jammies at 3:30 (why did I bother??) But staying in my PJ's makes me somehow feel sicker. I'm going to heat up some of the Asian Noodle Vegetable Soup. I still haven't eaten... hmmmmm maybe I'll start w/ toast and see how that feels.

I got a shower and got dressed at about 3pm. Did a load of laundry and changed the sheets. Now I'm completely worn out. DH has gone to the store. I have so much I SHOULD be doing, but I just can't right now.

Suze be careful with the foot.I'm glad you decided not to do the elliptical. The trainer sounds perfect for you.I hope you can get rid of your headache.
Celeste do you just add Miralax to water or to something else?I find when I add it to water I don't feel as bloated.I hope neither food makes you feel bad.I'm glad Bob is doing well with the chemo. If both of you have the same thing you could give it back and forth to each other more than once so be careful. One winter that's what Kenneth and I kept doing.
Sending good feeling vibes to Connie,Louise,Celeste and Bob.I hope all of you feel better soon.
Congrats on your loss Sandy. That is great for 6 days.
That is the pits Celeste having to deal with those fraud charges when you are feeling so bad and then them call you sir.Maybe you would feel a little better by putting something in your stomach.
I hope you get a nap JT and try to stay warm.

THIS DAMN WEBSITE WON't LET ME POST. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Anyway CONNIE if I tried to change my bed right now I'd be dissolving in a pool of perspiration. Anything I do makes me clammy.
BECKY you're right. I had toast and felt better. I'm heating up the soup and from last night and looking forward to it. And I've taken the Mira w/ just water. Luckily it doesn't have much of a taste. But sometimes if I have Crystal light already made up, I use that.
SANDY I must be feeling better b/c Mexican food sounds so good right now.
JT I was just thinking... you must be wondering "What kind of challenge thread did I stumble on? THE INFIRMARY CHALLENGE?" Honestly we're not usually focused on ailments and we ARE usually more focused on exercise and better food choices. Stick w/ us and SOON we'll be better. I (almost) promise!! **cough Cough**

Sandy....congrats on that awesome loss! My scale is going the wrong way this week....which is annoying with starting at the gym! But, I think much of it is due to ham / high NaCl the past few days. Done with that now, so we shall see. Nice idea to send pic packs to arrive in your momβs birthday....no doubt many good memories will be stirred up that day.
Celeste, Connie, & Louise....sorry to hear you are still battling the crud / flu..?? Fluids, rest, meds, repeat. Get better vibes to all of you.
JT....how close are you to Hartford? Our good friends have kids there, & I know they just got plenty of snow like you.
Suze....I did the elliptical for you....only 5 min. But also did 1.5 miles on the treadmill & the 30 min workout circuit. Your land purchase sounds like a good investment....plan to be determined will be fun.
Becky....how is the knee? Glad you were able to walk yesterday without too much problem.
Made it to the gym today & then did errands this after noon. Obviously everyone & their dog had been waiting for it to warm up a bit before doing Christmas returns...it was kind of crazy out there. Had some Kohlβs cash that expired today & needed some meds....otherwise I would have waited until Monday.
Still donβt have the Christmas stuff down....would Bob & Joe be sweeties & buzz on over? Iβm like Louise...just kind of enjoying it. Maybe tomorrow....
French dip sandwiches for dinner....mmmm mmm good. Only a couple of cookies...thank goodness they are about gone!

My favorate dish from a local Mexican restaurant is the "Laredo special" with shrimp. 8 grilled jumbo shrimp with fajita grilled green pepper and onion, served with a tasty queso over rice. So, I had some shrimp left in the freezer, sauteed it with pepper and onion with 2oz of spicy sausage, melted 1/2 cup Mexican blend cheese with a splash of milk and had with with riced cauliflower. I have not been overly impressed with riced cauliflower but it worked! And there was cheese sauce left over for rest of "rice". In all honesty it would have been good without the rice also. 20 dailes eaten today and very satisfied. 8k steps so far and got a few things done around the house.
My sis and i split Moms Rosenthal china set 4 years ago and its still packed in a box. I had pretty much decided to give it to one neice who would appreciate it. I talked to her about it and got so got emotional. I guess I'm just not ready to part with it. So I've decided to pack up MY everyday china and use Mom's and enjoy it. It doesn't matter that I don't have a family to use it, I will! THEN it can go to my niece. This is the china that was still in the original packing crates that it was shipped from germany in '52. Time for someone to enjoy it.
