Sue, I am hoping it gets warm enough to melt the snow in DC—afraid it’s going to feel really cold to us! DD did buy DGD a winter coat to take—just really don’t want to have snow—it’s supposed to be cherry blossom festival the day after we get there—how can this be? But I do remember last time the taxi driver told us that DC weather was very erratic in early spring.
Had my mammo and Dexa scan this morning at 7 am—ugh—have to get up early again tomorrow to pick up Jordan at 6:40 am—meaning I will have to be up at 5:30 tomorrow! Not getting any long sleep times before our trip! Maybe that will make it easier to go to bed 3 hrs ahead on Saturday evening and actually sleep!
Planted all my tomatoes yesterday but one—will do that in a minute here and plant some beet seeds—the last date at which you can expect to get harvested in time before super heat. Last night I cut our first lettuce and arugula and spinach—baby of the latter two. OMG, we had the best green salad ever—just a bit of red onion and some creamy Italian I had made—the home grown greens were were so full of flavor! I had forgotten how great the flavor difference from store bought! Also made chicken noodle soup yesterday—cut It parsley and thyme to flavor it—very yummy. My garden is doing so much better with new and restored soil—hope the tomatoes do well also.
Yesterday I finally made it through the day with no sugar in the form of cookies—geez, when I get into that I have the hardest time getting back out! Like a black hole of sugar treats! Heavy duty gravity!
Today the lady doing my Dexa Scan was so cute—wanted to know where she cut her hair—turned out she has very thin hair and wears a hairpiece—OMG—a very expensive one and so, so cute and natural looking. She was also a surprise—she looked all of maybe 67 or so—she is 82 and has been working for 60 years! She wants to retire in May but the imaging place keeps baiting her to keep on going! Amazing!

Joan - I ate 3 cookies tonight! I agree, so good. When I eat them I always remember that Jennie, Who used to post here, ate an oreo (that's what I ate) and a glass of milk each night. I have gained back to 129+ and hate it - I feel so pudgy around the middle and uncomfortable. Hope that I can get back to exercise soon. Of course cutting down on the sweets would help too! Glad the garden is coming along. Where are you going on a trip, Joan?
Sue - Isn't this weather crazy! I noticed it was snowing in Greensboro, NC and called my sister's SO but he said it was just flurries and not sticking.
Holly -I just put a big order into KnitPicks for yarn - how addicting it is! Crocheting a cotten and linen top now for Spring. The yarn I ordered though is for socks. I think I will make them for sisters next year for Christmas. Will start now!
Went to the Hematologist yesterday Hgb. and Hct. is 13 and 40 - really, really good. He sees no reason for me to have another colonoscopy right now since I obviously am not bleeding. He says that the angiodysplasia that I have in the small intestines, periodiocally will bleen but that unless you treat them when bleeding (and you usually don't see them when bleeding) it does no good just to go though all the testing again. I was very glad to hear this.

He told me not to take NSAIDS (Ibuprofen, Aspirin, Naproxen, etc) or high dose supplements. I was surprised to hear the high dose supplements but he said most affect the platelets. Tomorrow I have the CT of the Chest. If all of that is neg then I return to the GI. He will probably want to do the upper GI for the chest pain and Shortness of breath - probably reflux.
Playing Bunkco with my friend across the street tomorrow. They always have dinner.
Did MAJOR closet cleaning out of clothes today. Decided the the number of clothes in my closet was obscene and really needed down sizing. Will take them to the church thrift store or the Vietnam Vets. DH has to do some of the same before we donate.

Hi!
We got about 8 inches of snow, it wasn't that bad, and now most of the snow is gone. It's bright and sunny today.
I rescheduled accountant appointment to do my parents taxes because it was on the day of the snow storm. So this year, I don't have to do taxes for myself, so weird.
Joan, I forget why you're going to DC, something to do with DGD dancing?
Jojo, so glad that all these tests are showing positive results. It is a pain to go through, but needed to eliminate causes. I remember that about Jenni and her oreos!
It was fun with our neighbors. I had some TJs appetizer stuff in the freezer, a Greek cheese and phyllo dish, had some nuts, and peppered salami, also had some par-baked bread in the freezer. Need to make a trip to TJs to stock up. Last week when I went their refrig/freezers were not working and they weren't selling anything refrigerated or frozen.

Sue, Glad that the snow didn't last even though deep at first. To me it is so much more enjoyable that way.
I use the Trader Joe's frozen appetizers too and have found them quite good.
Just got back from a great new Christian movie,"I Can Only Imagine" - the story of the leader of the band Mercy Me and how he came to write the song - a great story of redemption and forgiveness - really worth seeing in my humble opinioncare Didn't have the CT again today. They called me yesterday to say that the approval by the Ins. company waws still pending; so I rescheduled it for next Wed.
Got a haircut today. Got it cut really short - less care but requires more frequent cutting of course.

Jojo, I hope you get your CT approved soon. Like you I'm thinking about a shorter haircut cut, for change, but I dislike having to go often to the hairdressers. Congratulations on your closet cleaning. I need to get some of that done. I have mostly paperwork to deal with actually, in a major way.
Sue, Glad you got the sun after the snow. I know it's not the same but my dad, a numbers fanatic used to do my taxes for me in my early adulthood. Boy do I miss that. I used to have trouble losing weight in my 20s, when I was at heaviest. Then at around 30ish I suddenly lost without effort or tracking, and stayed down for about 10 years. Since then I've had to pay attention again, but it's less hard, so far, than it was in my 20s. Back then I got a lot of exercise, but also had a lot of appetite. Now I get less exercise but have less inclination to eat, on average, so far, than I did back then.
Joan, congratulations on the cookie-free day. That's inspiring about the 82 year old w cute hairpiece.
I didn't get much exercise this week. Just minimal walking. I have not been tracking or paying attention. I didn't bring enough to eat to work and ended up supplementing with vending machine fare. There are little or no meal options at work and I get really ill if I eat gluten.

Hi all,
Whew, what a week. Lots of meetings and discussions. I am working my way through The Crown. It’s really good. The weather has been really chilly, but I think it is finally going to warm up this week.
Jo Anne, I ordered some yarn from KnitPicks. I love their Dishie cotton yarn for dishcloths. It is addicting!
Joan, have fun in DC.
Lisa, same here on the exercise.
Sue, same here. I have to fill out a form for the accountant with my tax info.

Having a wonderful time in DC with DKD14’s—we are seeing so much and they are so easy and enthused—knew it would be this way—DGK 17’s are much more moody type kids—and we did not know our way around the whole city and what we should see or do. So far: Nat Portrait Gallery (love the pres. Portraits), Ford Theater, WA Monument, Lincoln Mem. , WWII memorial, Korean mem., Vietnam Mem, Arlington, Frederick Douglass’s home, Capitol tour, Supreme Court, Lib of Congress. Today we are heading to Bur of Engraving and Priniting, and hopefully Nat Gallery of Art. If line is not long will do the Archives while there. At 4 just for fun we are doing the spy museum and then meet up for dinner with my former =music teacher (now a principal at a private DC school) and his partner who I have not yet met. We have not seen each other in 12 years. Then it’s clean up house, pack and fly home Thursday. I am doing exercises morn. And night and have managed to walk everywhere okay—yesterday we did 22,000 steps for a 9.6 mile day—but as the kids said last night it did not feel that far—we broke it up—took Uber down to Lincoln mem last night after a light dinner and saw it in the dark —OMG, I had never done that—it was magical—the kids just loved it. Gotta—go—just checking in—hope we are not losing everyone. Hope you are all doing okay.

Lisa and Holly congratulations on doing any walking at all. I seem to have been so lazy the last week. GOT to get back to it.
Joan-cannot believe you have seen soooo much! I guess much of it is close together though - is that true?
Had the CT today. It was with contrast and she had to put a really large diameter needle in - ugh. Glad it is all over. Now just waiting to hear back from the doc.
Wt. is down about 2 lbs. - 127. Was glad to see that. We are now eating our large meal in the middle of the day. Of course there will be times when this won't work but most of the time now it is what we do. . Holly most of what I bought last is sock yarn. I wanted to get some of the cotton and other things but that will have to come another time. I made the last socks on slightly larger needles than they recommended because I was learning. I think I will try them now on the recommended sizes.
It is so warm and beautiful outside here today! The kids are coming over for Easter dinner Sunday. Always glad and excited to have them

Hi! Finally starting to warm up a little here. I got my parents taxes done on Monday, volunteered yesterday. Last night we took SO's ex-secretary out for dinner. Haven't seen her in a long time and it was great to catch up. She wanted to treat us to dinner but there is no way we would let her.
Holly, sounds like your very busy with work. Are you still doing the online help desk too?
Lisa, I live in Phila, where or what part of the country are you from?
Joan, glad you are enjoying your DC visit. Is your DH with you too? Wow, you are seeing a lot while there. Are there cherry blossoms?
Jojo, I should go through my closet too. I did some before last year's cruise, but I haven't gone through my old work clothes/suits, etc. Most of which I don't think fit any more.
All those who watch Walking Dead should watch Into the Badlands, also AMC series, really good! We watched the whole first season through on demand, the second season starts mid-April

No, JoAnne, things are not so close together—and yes, they are—it’s sort of weird, the mall connects everything and because things are so big they look close together but when you walk it, it’s huge—and there are no “shuttles” around the mall—there are a number of buses that make circular stops but the circle is so huge that it is not a fast way to get around—more of an overview way. Last night we tried Uber for the first time—OMG it was so cheap and fast and saved us so much walking—we walked so far yesterday I just could not walk to Metro again! Today we used it again—and again today did a ton of walking—we spent the morning doing the National Gallery of Art—that was so wonderful—but my legs are now really feeling it—walked over 15,000 steps again today.
We met up for dinner with my former teacher—was a nice dinner and I had the best beet arugula salad and a bowl of white bean soup—so yummy.
Ok, gotta unlad the DW and clean out the fridge.

Hi! It's a great day here, sunny and warm. Finally spring like, but we are supposed to get some snow tomorrow night into Monday, ugh! No plans for the weekend, we don't really celebrate Easter.
Joan, you don't have uber in LV? I have to admit, I don't use uber, I did a free trial once and because it was rush hour, it would have been twice as much as a taxi if I had to pay for it. I love the National Gallery of Art
Mostly have been puttering around the house doing chores, food prep and gym. Watching Sixers and Phillies.
