CJ, it's great that you got your shopping done so that you don't have to go out for awhile unless you feel like going just for fun. I've never been to a Cracker Barrell. When I was visiting my ds and ddil last my ddil asked if I'd ever been but we didn't go so don't know why she asked.
And CJ, I really have to thank you for mentioning the 2 ingredient dough. It's amazing!! Handles nice and rolls out nice and works great for calzones so I'm sure it's going to be even better for other things. I did try it with gluten free flour mix and made bagels and it didn't turn out at all the same as with regular flour but it still tastes good. So I wonder if you can boil this dough like they do other bagels...it's what make the bagels bagels. Here they really only sell bagels that are more like rolls and from tasting this dough it seems like the bagels you would make from these would be more like rolls too. But my dh loves them anyway but I've often thought of making an authentic bagel...never have but I've thought of it.
So now dh is all set with six very large calzones so whenever he gets hungry he can just heat some up and eat. Really one would be plenty but he eats "big". Half of one would be enough for me.
Ok, back to crocheting now. Also my dgd has been emailing back and forth with me. I sent her an email this morning telling her happy birthday and since we've been "chatting" in between my cooking and probably her schoolwork. They're homeschooled and its mostly all on computer at her age and higher so between school they email

Hi, everyone. It has been a messed up day. I had an appt. to get my glasses checked and when I went to my car the battery was dead. I called the tow truck to come and start me. He got the car started but he told me I needed a new battery. So I took off to get a new battery which meant no appointment. I had to reschedule my appt. There was a strong wind this afternoon and we had showers. Now I am trying to relax.
Ginny, I do get very good medical through Kaiser which is very popular here in Ca for those enrolled in their plan. They have hospitals and clinics all over the state. There are several Kaiser hospitals and clinics here in the Sacramento area. I have an appt. on 20th for a test (I have forgotten the name) to check for blood leaks. They have done this before and had to cauterize vein leaks in my stomach so it is probably something like that again. I just don't get excited about it. though going to Kaiser is more like my social life. But I must not complain as there are many people who are not as blessed as I am. Any signs of the baby yet? I would love to see your finished b/blanket.
When I was waiting to have my battery installed I was looking at a Geographic magazine and there were pictures of children being abused in other countries for not working hard enough. The boy in the picture was 7 yrs. old.
cj, Many thanks for the web site, I will check it out.
Ruth, I will find out next Tue why my blood is low but it is probably from a leak somewhere which they can cauterize. So how many pr. of fingerless gloves have you made now I didn't get any crocheting done yesterday but hope to this evening. I am passed the 1/2 way point on both my b/blanket. I wish I could use up most if my stash as there so many beautiful yarns coming out all the time and I want to try them but can't justify my buying more yarn. I do need to buy a skein of yarn to finish up the b/blanket I am knitting.
Happy Crafting, Have a good evening.

That's one of my problems too, Meg...there are always new and really nice yarns coming out.I'm glad you will find out if you have a leak and they can fix it.Yes I think that all of us here are truly blessed. We have good families and good friends. What more can a person ask.
Meg, not sure how many fingerless gloves I've made in total but today I haven't even made the second glove of the pair I started last night. It's supposed to be a child's fingerless gloves but it fits me. I'm going to finish the second glove which is just barely started then I'm going to redesign the whole pattern to actually fit a child.
Wonder if Ginny is missing because her dd is in labor. I know they're all anxious to meet the new little one.

Ruth. that would make for an exciting weekend. New babies are so cute. I am not sure how my weekend is going to turn out. I should bring DD home tomorrow. Devin will not be going t visit his other DGmother as she has been in the hospital several days this week. She gets sick every year about this time and always ends up in the hospital. she is not an elderly woman I think she is about 59 or 60. That's young now a days. My DS called to say his best friends dad passed away last night in his sleep. We have been friends with this family for many years. I think when it is my time to go I would like to go peacefully in my sleep. I hope you get your gloves sorted out. I am going to read or crochet. The book I am reading is not audio. When I was young and foolish I tried reading and knitting at the same time but it didn't turn out too well. I am rambling. I wish you a good night.

Good morning!!!
Cj- now if I had known you were going out to lunch at Cracker Barrel I would have joined you !! (Ha ha ha). I do love their food. Anyway hope you had a great time there- and do hope that you enjoyed what you had. Do you eat there much and if so do you have a favorite meal? Its a neat place, and fun to browse through their gift shop. When we went to my nieces wedding in the fall, the two best meals we ate were enroute and on the way home- enroute we ate at a Dutch Pantry (amish style chain) and on the way home at a Cracker Barrel. Guess you are probably also experiencing cold weather. Last night what they were saying on the weather indicates that if this system develops into a true nor’easter, the beltway area is in for a lot of snow. Glad you indicated that you do not have to go out for a few days and can stay in when the loonies get stocked up for what could be a big storrm. My sister attended a college in Washington DC- and came home telling us that the beltway area does not handle snow well- the drivers there just do not know how to deal with it. It sill be nice to think that if you get a lot of snow, you will be safe at home. Good time to craft- by our crazy definition of crafting..... I enjoy your posts and links when you share with us all the neat things you find in crafting.
Gotta go....bbl in a little while to say hi to Ruth, Meg and Phyl G

Just got a sad message from the dd of one of my dear friends from way back in nursing school and she said her mom is likely not going to make it thru the day. She was adm to hte hospital on thurs with UTI and sepsis and also tested positive for flu. The dd lives in NC and my friend is in Pa so the dd is starting to drive up there but will likely not make it in time and is probably going for a funeral. It's so sad that when we get older our friends and loved ones start all leaving this earth. Hopefully we will see them again one day.We do have that Hope thru our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Hello Crafters Ruth - I'm glad you tried the dough and the calzones, I'd like to make one of those sometime too. Here's a website with instructions for boiling these bagels if you want to try that: www.bellagetswwaisted.com/index.php/2017/12/20/2-ingredient-dough-bagels/I'm sorry to hear about your friend. I hope the daughter can make it there in time. I find the randomness one when our lives end difficult to bear sometimes. It's one thing when a person has lived a long life, but the death, and they way they die, of so many younger people is very sad. Meg - I'm glad you could get another battery for your car, and hopefully you can reschedule the appointment. I've replaced a lot of car batteries over the last years now that I have 2 older cars. I'm also sorry to hear about your DS's father passing away. Ginny - The weather here has been cold and we might get some rain today, and maybe some rain/snow this coming week. All it takes is a dusting of snow around here and the people start driving like maniacs!!! I'm sorry happy I don't have to go out in that anymore. I'll never forget one time when I was working and it snowed - it took me over 3 hours to get home - and I only worked 16 miles from my house I had chicken tenderloins, dumplins and green beans at Cracker Barrel yesterday. I mostly like the dumplins and green beans there, but I haven't tried some of the higher calorie foods since I just can't fit them into my food plan these days. I did treat myself to a biscuit and put some butter and blackberry preserves on it and it was good! I'm just hanging around the house this weekend, since I had a busy week the last week. I did finally get a call from my home insurance and they should be here this week to check the roof. I'm not holding out much hope that I'll get any money from them since the roof is so old, but I'll see what happens and be happy with whatever they might give me. Take care everyone!

thank you CJ for the sympathy and the recipe site. I'll check out the recipe. Even here, every winter, people act like they've never driven in snow before.
Meg, sorry about your battery problem and having to miss your appointment. I replaced both my batteries recently but just ordered them, picked them up, and dh installed them. Not much to that but batteries are heavy. Sorry also about your ds's friends father. And sorry to hear that Devins other grandmother is sick. Yes to me that is a young age also.
Well looks like I'm going to be in a Bible cover making mode for awhile. My ddil said that the three girls younger than the one I sent the BC to also want one "exactly" like that so I'm going to get started on them. I told her it might be awhile and I probably will actually not send them until their birthdays which are in August, Nov, and Feb so I have time but want to get them started at least. I guess I used a pattern for the one I just sent but if I did I don't know what one it was. There are some really nice ones online but when you click no pattern turns up.Ok I'm going to go check thru my yarn and see if I can decide on what yarn to use for that. I do have some of the stuff I used for the one I sent but it's a different color and Im not even sure exactly what it is. It's supposed to be WW but looks like a cotton thinner than Peaches 'n Cream of Sugar and cream.I also need to get some for dd's two little presents. So see you all later.

CJ, thank you for the site. I checked it and its just what I needed. dh asked about boiling. The only bad thing about the calzones is that they got soggy on the bottom just after they cooled a little. And then the whole thing got soft instead of staying crispy like "normal" dough does. I dont know if its because of the moisture in the yogurt or not but there is, of course, liquid in regular pizza dough too.

Good afternoon!
Well obviously, I missed a bunch of posts from this am- and now am in a crunch time to catch up.
Meg, well glad that it was only a battery for your car, which is not that expensive (bad enough however!). Hope you can get those glasses soon...
Ruth, I have read from others on the internet who did boil their bagels. I have never tried it- perhaps if you boiled them in a skillet ( so that the pan provides a base of sorts) they might hold their shape enough. Glad it worked out for the calzone.....what did you fill the calzone with?
CJ- gotta say the more I read about this storm (Wednesday) the more it seems as though you are in for some snow. Be safe, and stock up- but I think you are already!!
Phyl- hope you are having a good time bummin’ with Delona or whatever you are doing....forgive me for being forgetful, were you ever able to reschedule your hip procedure? Hope you are doing well and are comfortable.
This am we got a lot accomplished. Went to Target for a wedding shower gift ( I will most likely not attend the shower), got a ton of stuff (all oddball items, but it included yarn) from Walmart and then went to a large outlet store and got Dd #2 a great interview outfiit for her interviews on Wednesday. I keep on checking the weather here as I have a hair appointment on THursday which I do not want to cancel if I can help it. THe end of this week gets a bit busy for me.
About half way done with the border of the baby afghan. I love this pattern- Dd actually told me that it was a perfect afghan- the pattern that is- and that it is her favorite baby afghan that I have made. Cannot wait till its done....not sure what my next project is, but now I have yarn for DGS and DGD next hat. No new grandbaby yet! Dd wants to meet her daughter.....I want to me my new granddaughter too!!!!
Blessings Ginny

Hi everyone and Happy St. Patrick's Day, I am staying home today. DD is here for a few hours and I am trying to keep her entertained. We both are both wearing our green sweat shirts. I usually do not do a lot of celebrating on St. Patrick's Day. It is a religious holiday and I am sure St. Patrick would disapprove of all the parades and drinking and whatever.
Ginny, No baby yet. I am sure that your family are on full alert. I hope and pray that all goes well. The b/blanket sounds lovely. Where do you get the pattern for it? I had to get a new battery because I can't go anywhere with out one. Battery's have gone up in price a lot since I last bought one. But it is a relief to have my car working. I need to get my oil changed so that's next. It's always something.
cj, I occasionally enjoy a bagel but I don't think I want to make them. There is a restaurant here called Noah's Bagels and when I pass there I think I would like to pay them a visit and one of these days I will stop. The Cracker Barrel sounds good. I don't think we have one here.
Ruth, I am so glad you are keeping busy, You are one person who never runs of something to do. Your bible covers sound very nice are you crocheting them? I thought perhaps you were quilting them. I need to go to the store as I need a skein of yarn but I don't remember where I bought it and I have lost the label. I usually keep the label with the yarn. So I will start with Michaels and go from there. I have to go and take care of DD she is getting a wee bit cranky.
Have a good evening.

Meg, we don't have a Cracker Barrel here either. I know Janet's glad to be at your home for the day but keeping tabs on her is probably very tiring for you. I don't celebrate St Patrick;s day either altho I am Irish. My mother's maiden name was very Irish and some on my father's side were from Ireland also.
Well I have another project. My ddil just said that they would like me to make them a Christmas Tree skirt and she showed me a link to a picture of the one they like best so I'll be working on that too. Yes my Bible covers and the tree skirt will both be crocheted. The Bible cover amazingly turned out very well for a crocheted Bible cover. I wondered how sturdy it would be but it's fine. I probably could make Bible covers that were sewn but I wont. CJ and Ginny are the quilters here. I've never tried that even though I'd love to be able to make beautiful quilted things. I'd even be happy if I could make potholders that were quilted or tote bags. In fact I'd like that even better. I'm a tote bag fanatic.Love tote bags.
Well gonna go make me a pair of slippers. My feet have been very cold at night so I want some for wearing in bed.Slipper socks the pattern calls them.
Haven't heard anymore from my friend's daughter. I'd love if she'd be able to make it in time to say goodbye

Meg, hope that you had a lovely St Patricks day with Dd and that she was easy to spend the day with. How sweet that you were both wearing your green sweatshirts in honor of the day! Did her care giver dress her in that shirt?
Ruth and Meg, Well the pattern is a funny story, sort of. I had printed out 2 or three patterns, thinking I would try them all out to see what I liked best. I did after trying the other patterns, decide that this one was good- then life got busy and I put the afghan down for a 2 or 3 weeks. I had printed it out initially....and was not able to find the directions. Then I went into my computer history to find the directions and the link for the afghan yielded a screen tthat told me the page was no longer available. Grrrrr.......I kept searching and finally found that the pattern was now available for sale on Ravelry for 99 cents. Was I annoyed? Yes, but I paid the 99 cents and now can access the pattern any time. FIgure I can send the pattern to each of you via email and will do so tomorrow. Its an insanely easy pattern, super easy to adjust the size and the pattern to me looks much more difficult than it is. And I have shortened the ruffle on the border from 6 chains to 4 but am very happy with how it looks.
Ok enough from me. Have a great night Ginny
