Good afternoon Ruth- although I bet its morning by you still. So very sweet of DDIL to send you pictures of the grandkids crochetting! Of course it would be easier if they lived closer, but so very nice that she shared that with you. Do you think its time to do your taxes? (Wink!). My mom was like that- frequently she would mail hers in on the very last day possible.
I planted some seeds I got at CTS- the wildflowers germinated like CRAZY- will have to re- pot them soon. The daisy seeds did not do well at all.
Gotta think about return to work. Hi to CJ, Meg and Phyl Ginny

Hello Crafters Ruth - I did make the pizza and the dough was still good after refrigerating it for one night. Hope you have some luck finding clothes. I'm happy to hear you were able to visit with some of the grandchildren too. Ginny - I'm glad you're having a good day and some better weather. Hopefully you'll get some of the warmer weather we're supposed to get later this week. Meg and Phyl - Hope you are both having good weather and getting in some crafting. I had good intentions to do some sewing today, and maybe I still will. But I woke up this morning and poured out my water for the day - I have several cups that I fill up and put in the refrigerator so I can get in my 8+ cups of cold water each day. After that I was doing some things around the house and went back to get water for something and the water was discolored. I called the water company and they said to run cold water from the highest spigot and that should solve it. I did that for about 30 minutes but it was still discolored. So I went out to a close store and bought some bottled water in case I needed it. I used to keep some on hand all the time but I've gotten lax about that. When I got back I ran the water again and it looks much better. I'll wait another hour or so and run it again. Hopefully whatever was causing the problem is cleared out now. Never a dull moment in home ownership Take care everyone!

Ginny, I planted some wildflower seeds last year and also some other flowers but didn't have any luck with them at all. The wildflowers germinated very soon after I planted them but then by the time it was warm enough to put them outdoors they had all died. I have good luck with tomatoes and indoors I have good luck with basil but I haven't had much luck with thyme, cilantro, or rosemary but Im trying both the thyme and cilantro again this year and for sure basil although I still have a lot of it dried from last year. I do love using fresh basil leaves.
CJ, I'm glad your water problem seems to be clearing up. Do you have one of the faucet filters such as Pur? We used to have one but now just buy bottled water and both of us are guilty of not drinking enough water. Yes home ownership does have it's challenges. When we were at dd's house yesterday there were just hundreds of pieces of shingle on her lawn that had blown off her roof. Of course they were told by friends that insurance would pay for a new roof but didnt mention the $750 deductible and whatever else would be deducted from whatever the ins estimate is. I forgot to tell her about your experience, CJ
Well I've done a few things in the house so far and would like to do more. My ddil SAID she was sending those pictures but they haven't arrived yet. As you can imagine, with 8 children and doing home schooling she is a busy person even though the children are helpful
Ginny, I'm a huge procrastinator but for many years now I haven't waited this long to do my tax. I really have to do it a little earlier next year. I always have to pay but you can set your payment to be sent on any date so I could still do it early and have the payment sent at the last minute. I hate to give up my money but it's not like interest rates are high so I wouldn't be losing much by just going ahead and sending it in right away.
Oh and CJ, I'm glad your pizza turned out. I'm glad to hear the dough will be fine if left in the fridge overnight. Plain Greek yogurt is an amazing food. You can make so many things with it or just add fruit or a whole fruit jam like simply Fruit and flavor it up to eat with breakfast or even as a healthy dessert

CJ- ah the joys of homeownership!! Who knows what happened with your water, I also have municipal water, and know that sometimes it can have problems too. Keep the bottled water on hand. Before you know it, it will be June 1- and the official start of hurricane season. Its nce to have some bottled water on hand just to play it safe.Hhope you did get some sewing time in!
Ruth- well I am sure those pictures will get to you evenually and it will be a lovely surprise when they do. My mom lived in the NY Metropolitan area and she was nuts enough to wait until 11 pm on April 15- and would drive several towns away to find a PO that was open until midnight on April 15. When I took over her affairs, things like that got done in a much more timely basis- she actually got angry with me for geting her taxes done early. What ever seeds you do end up planting, I hope you have good germination.
No crafting for me today- its been a long week so far and I am a bit tired.
Hi to MEg and Phyl- Ginny

Hello everyone, It is cooler here today. I had to go and pick up a prescription and have my BP taken while I was there. BP was very good so said the nurse. My Dr. e-mailed me a few days ago and asked me to stop at the BP station when I was at the hospital. I did not get a lot of knitting done last evening as DS and I went out to dinner with friends . This seems to be getting a weekly event which is fine with me. DSs friend brings his wife and mother. So when I got home I was tired and didn't knit very long before I went to bed.
cj, I did go and check out the heavy blankets on line because I didn't know about them either. They are very expensive anywhere from $100 to over $200 so I probably wont be getting one anytime soon, They did get good reviews and I suppose if I could not go to sleep every night it would be worth the expense to buy one. Sorry you have a water problem and hope the water company will pay attention and fix it. I don't drink enough water.
Ginny, I haven't planted any seeds yet but I usually go to the nursery and get bedding plants. The weather is so changeable at this time of year. If I plant too soon and it gets wet and windy I can loose all the plants so I wait a little longer. When I was out this afternoon I noticed that it was getting quit windy.
Ruth, Pity you don't live closer tp your DGDs so that you could help them with their crocheting. It will be nice to see pictures of them crocheting. When I go to Ireland I usually take knitting with me and my niece wanted to learn to knit when she was age 8. So I taught her and she was doing quire well. When I went back over there a couple of years later I gave her some more lessons. Now she is about 20 and going to college and I don't think she has much time to knit but I hope when she gets older she will try again. I probably wont be able to go back over there so if she wants more lessons she will have to come and visit me. I hope you get your taxes done soon. My DH worked at the post office and getting to work on the 15th of April was always a mess with the traffic backed up. He worked in the evening which made it even worse because people were trying to get their taxes post marked before midnight. I am off to eat dinner and then I will do some crafting.

Meg, It's good to see you. You are quite the socialite with all these dining out trips . Knitting can wait till evenings when you have nothing planned. I can imagine what your poor dh had to put up with when all those people started bringing in their tax returns and wanting them postmarked before midnight. I used to take mine at the last minute too but years ago and the awful thing about it was that I always had a refund coming back then. It would have paid me to get it done as early as possible in order to get my money back from the government. Yes I would love to ;be there to help them with their crocheting. I did teach them the basics but you know how that is. There is always so much more to learn. Have a good night all. Tomorrow I'm going to plant seeds. I've done very little crafting the last couple days so will probably work on some fingerless gloves the rest of the evening which is actually nearly over as it's almost 9pm but since I usually stay up until 1am I still have time. I've wasted a lot of time today but did get other things done also besides the tax return so I'm happy with that.

Good afternoon!! Meg, glad you could stop in and say hello. Great news that your BP checked out and was ok! So nice that we no longer have to go through a big ordeal to get it checked, and a quick stop in at a pharmacy, lab or clinic can get the job done. What a lovely routine, going out for dinner with Ds and his friends! Good fooc and good company- a very enjoyable coombination. The crochetting and knitting can wait for another day....so glad you got out! My apologies to your Dh (who I know is gone). My mom was one of those nutters postmarking her taxes at :11:59 pm.
Ruth, congrats on getting your taxes done!! What a relief! Hope you get your seeds planted today!
The Lord moved things around so I was able to get to study group this am! So glad I went- think its been a year since I was able to attend.
Time to head back to work BBL Ginny

I was about to say good morning but it's actually almost 1:30 so good afternoon. Haven't got much accomplished yet today. I did do some reading
Ginny, how great to have been able to get to the study group! I hope the Lord will continue to work things out for you so that you can get there each time they are held.

Hi, just a quick post as Devin will get out early today.
Ruth, I haven't accomplished much today either so don't feel bad. I was able to knit last evening and The b/blanket I was working on is almost finished. The b/blanket I am crocheting is passed the 1/2 way point so it should be finished soon. I am already trying to decide what I will make next.
Ginny, I take it that it was a bible study gp. I hope you can manage to go every week. I was in a group for many years and miss going but almost everyone in that group has passed and I miss them. We used to go to lunch after our meeting. There is another group at church and I went a few times but then I got side tracked with Dr. appointments. I might try to arrange appointments on a different day because I miss going.
cj, hope all is well with you.
Now I have to get going and pick Devin up.
Have a good evening.

Good evening!
Thought I would check in and see how everyone is doing.
Ruth, how did your day end up? Were you able to get everything accomplished that was on your list? Are the seeds planted?? I am hoping that the next time we hear from you your DDIL will have sent those pictures of your DGD’s crochetting.
Meg- Did your eye treatments “settle” down so that you are totally comfortable again? You are really getting a lot done with those baby blankets- one finished and the other at the half way point. Hope that Devin coming home early still permits you to have a quiet evening- so that you can read or crochet if you like. Gee- May is only a few weeks away- and so is the end of school!! Has your DS found any programs for Devin to keep him busy and happy?
Well the Lord sure wanted me at study- when I got home Dh told me he was going to Dd’s- so I had the chance to go out myself. Study has changed a little bit- in a super good way- we are studying the scripture that Pastor will preach from on Sunday- which I think is awesome! Gives us time during the week to let it sink in...and think about it- so then Sunday when we see what Pastor has to say about it it will be extra insightful.
Enough from me-
Have a good evening G

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Ruth - I use a Brita water filter container to keep my water in and fill it up a few times each day. Hope you were able to get your seeds planted. Ginny - I'm glad you were able to get to your study group and then had some time this evening to study. Meg - I'm glad your BP is good and that you were able to get out and enjoy a meal with friends. I went to a quilt show today with my sister-in-law. It was about 40-45 minutes away but traffic wasn't too bad. This is a nice show with almost 300 quilts. Several of them looked familiar to me so they probably had them at their show 2 years ago. It was still a pleasure to look at the many beautiful quilts. I bought a little bit of fabric at the few vendors they had. And I bought some fabric and quilt labels at the Guild's Peddler's table (fabrics and items brought in by members to sell). I also found some cute heart shaped buttons at the Guild's Boutique table. After we left the show we met my brother for lunch and I had a nice salad with crispy chicken tenders and honey mustard dressing. It was good, but lots of calories, fortunately I've eaten light the rest of the day. I did finish piecing on of the double churn dash blocks yesterday and I really like it. I have 3 more to piece and then I'll decide how I want to put them together. Take care everyone!

Ginny, it does sound as though the Bible study is a very good one.Do you have a time then in the next study where you can comment on new thoughts on that scripture after the Sunday's sermon. Seems like it would be a good thing to do too although time may be too limited since would would be studying the scripture that is to be used in yet the next Sunday's sermon.
No I didn't get the seeds planted yet. I think I'll wait until after the cold weather tomorrow. I didn't get the pictures from ddil yet either. Sometimes she just forgets. She was going to send me a picture of the newest baby in the puppy hat I made for the one that is now 4 but she never did get that sent. I was kind of curious as to how hte hat held up with washing and all. She always immediately washes anything that comes into the house so I never wash them before sending because it would be a waste of my time since she would just do it over anyway.I'm not good at sewing on appliques of the eyes, etc but I was even less good back when I made that hat so I was curious about whether or not they stayed on.
Last night I did get one fingerless glove done to the point where I need to do the seam. It's an extremely small one too because it's for the 4 year old and of course they have small hands so makes for a very small fingerless glove. So this evening I'll finish that one and hopefully make the second one and maybe even get to something else...another pair of fgs? Or something else? Maybe I'll work on the baby blanket I've had sitting here for awhile. As I've mentioned, I do have several baby blankets in various stages of incompletion unlike Meg who actually finishes hers.As I was straightening out my craft cave the other day I counted my kits and I have at least six...they're all for baby blankets too.
CJ I hope that you too are having a good day.

Oh there you are CJ. Sounds like another great quilt show. It also sounds as though you bought some nice things while there.I'm glad to hear that you like the churn dash blocks you worked on yesterday. It's very enjoyable to be able to sit back and really like something we have made with our own hands. Yes when we eat light for part of the day it does leave room for a little bit of a splurge. The salad sounds delicious.

Good afternoon and Happy Friday!!!
CJ- sounds like you had a really nice time at the quilt show (now why did you not invite me, it would only take me 5 hours to get there!!!). in my book its even ok if you saw some of those quilts before. We are all in a learning process here and I can say personally (for example) that I hardly looked at FMQ stippling with a critical eye before, i just thought it was pretty. Now, of course, I look at it and try to see how it was done- now that I know a little bit of something about the topic. I am sure you can say the same thing. And then, of course, over the past 2 years you have looked at a lot of quilting pictures etc....online- so perhaps your eye has developed an attraction to different color combinations over that time period. Aw heck!!!! Any excuse to attend a quilt show is a good one, and I am glad you went and found some cool fabric. So happy for you that the churn dash blocks are turning out well- its just so neat when our crafting efforts turn out just like we had hoped. I would not worry too much about that really yummy salad. Let it go, do not beat yourself up over it! Jump back on the WW wagon today- slip ups are fine once in a while. its important to forgive yourself.
Ruth-I am trying to envision the thumb for a fg for a 4 year old- and getting to crochet in the round over something so small must be challenging. Ya got me laughing- you do finish things too!!! Its just that Meg has an outlet for the baby afghans she makes and you have been focusing on fg and other gifts (mug cozies for example) for your family. If that means that much to you to finish (or start then finish) a baby afghan, perhaps setting aside one day a week to work on that would help. I understand having craft kits that need to be done- I have the material for 3 quilts here- and all those Christmas ornaments. So many crafts, so little time......WIth regards to study- Pastor works his way though a book of the bible- we are in 1Peter now. And my study teacher is very relaxed in her approach so taking a look back at the previous Sundays sermon scrupture would be just fine.
Its warm here- in the low 60’s. Hope that maybe I can crochet a bit this afternoon- we will see. I am hoping that Dh will let us get pizza or something like that for dinner.....I just do not feel like cooking. ( he is usually fine with that).
Gotta head back to drive the critters in a little bit. Have a great afternoon Ginny
