Just a quick hellp as I have to go to the dentist to get my teeth cleaned.
CJ- you are a good girl, resisting all that lovely fabric!! Do you have the fabric you will use for the convergence quitt- does fabric come with the class?? I checked out pictures of them wow, they surely are pretty and normally so very colorful. You will have a good time with that class for sure!!!
Ruth, thanks for the advice on our friends at Direct TV- I will have to try asking them for a discount. Lord knows I have been paying full price for a long enough time.
Hope everyone has a great day. Heading for 3 hot days here.....Oh yes, CJ- I call those mental health days too. I will work my am and then call in sick for my afternoon. Its going to look really bad doing so on a Friday afternoon. Whatever.

Ginny, you've been a faithful and consciencious employee so you deserve to have a half day off
Yes the quilts are beatiful aren't they?
Well I did get the parts made last night for the tooth fairy pillow. Now to just get the face embroidered on, pocket sewn on and it all put together and stuffed. You're going to love the pattern, Ginny. It's so easy and fast. There is an error in the pocket pattern but you'll see it and it really makes no difference in the pocket at all. She says to chain 12 then do sc across row and end with 12 stitches and of course you'd only end up with 11.So you either have to make the chain 13 or use just 11 stitches which, as I said, makes no difference at all really.
The video I mentioned yesterday for the birds of a feather fg was not easy to follow because of the dark yarn she was using. You couldn't see very well what she was doing. She kept mentioning that during the whole video. Why she just didn't stop recording and get some lighter color yarn I don't know.
Today is the day for mittens ..donate day.. so Im going to get started on that in a minute. I have some household things to do too today. When I finish a couple pairs of the mittens I may work on edging for the baby blankets I've had sitting in a bin for a couple years. I hate doing edging so just never finished them. I'm better at edging now though so I don't mind the idea so much. The edgings used to curl on me and a good friend who is in her 90's now always had that problem too. She was a knitter not a crocheter so crochet edgings were not easy for her. She had to give up needlework though because of her eyesight. Later this evening I might put the TF pillow together after the other things are done.
It was supposed to be a nice day today weather wise but it's not. It's cool and overcast and looks like rain. Of course that could change in the blink of an eye...it often does
Have a great day everyone!!

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Ginny - Hope the dental cleaning went well and they didn't find any problems. I dread the cleanings sometimes because of what they might find. It's always a relief when I can walk out of the office with just the cleaning. Ruth - Hope you are able to get some mittens done. I enjoy putting the edgings on the baby blankets I've made. I actually did some work on a quilt yesterday and today! I finished piecing the Double Churn Dash blocks (the ones in Pink, Cream and Brown) and sewed the 4 of them together. I think I might put a small border of the cream around them, but I'm not sure. I just wanted to get that done since it had been sitting around for a bit. I have several other projects I want to work on, so maybe I'll be motivated to start one. I also need to work in this house decluttering, but I just can't seem to get started on that. I almost feel like I need to hire someone to help me with a plan, but I know that's crazy and I can do it myself. It's very warm here today, around 90, but the humidity is low so it doesn't feel that bad. I do have all the blinds shut and curtains pulled especially on the side of the house that faces west. It gets so hot on that side. Take care everyone!

CJ, good job on working on that quilt. I know it's very enjoyable to be able to see it all put together. Decluttering one's home is not easy. And ;you have the added belongings that once belonged to your parents to contend with. I think some of those professional organizers are pretty good although I don't know any personally and havent used their services. I don't even know if we have any here but we probably do. I'm also glad to hear that your humidity is low today. That really helps. Have you heard back from the roofers?
Well I got one mitten done and it's so cute. It's made of wool ease and is colonial blue with two gold stripes. Since then I've been doing some cooking and cleaning but am about to get back to crocheting and make the second mitten of the pair and hopefully some time today will get the second pair done. They don't take long but I was adjusting the pattern and writing down my adjustments so that took some time. This mitten seems like it would be about the size for a 6-8 year old probably. Some other day I'm going to work on getting the pattern smaller so that I have two sizes to work with. I don't think kids older than about 8 or 9 like to wear mittens. I could be wrong since I'm not often around children.

Good evening !
CJ, so glad you got some quilting time in today! Bet that churn dash pattern looks very, very pretty....a border would really set the pattern off nicely. Think we all understand what a hassle decluttering is! First there is the decision to save or throw and then if you do save the item, what do you do with it? Now I am just chattering here, but here is the process I am going through. First of all, I know pretty much where my stuff is going, having already scheduled my next pick up with a charity. So my empty and filling up boxes are out...I am no longer keeping stuff anymore unless I love it or can really see some use for it. We just have too much stuff here. (That reminds me, I have to get rid of a toaster...we only have 4!) with the exception of my moms afghans, most of her crewel work is underconsideration too for getting rid of- I will keep those pieces I really love or think had great meaning to her. Not in a rush about this either. I figure this is not a race. All I know is when I pick up something to clean around it or store it I want it to have a function or meaning. Best of luck in your cleaning process.....hey would your sister in law be helpful to keep you inspired?
Ruth, wow you have already made a tooth fairly pillow?? Are they easy to make- sounds like they are not too tough. Think you are right about mittens- older kids would probably not want them. I am glad you wrote down the changes to the pattern so you know what you are doing for the next time. Using wool ease should be perfect- the yarn holds its shape well and is warm, thanks to the wool.
Other than the tooth that is coming out next week my dental check up was good. No cratfting today, but I did plant some marigold seeds in a planter on the deck. I dislike this time of year cause I end up doing stuff like that when I would rather be playing with fabric or yarn.
Have a great evening G

Hello everyone, Just a quick post. I didn't sleep well last night and now I am sleepy. I was crocheting at 3 a.m. The sun is shining but I haven't been anywhere today. I called Blair to order some summer clothes for Janet. The lady taking the order didn't speak good English and I couldn't understand what she was saying. So I told her I would call back later. I called back later and got the same woman. I did place my order and I still couldn't under stand much of what she was saying so I hope I get everything I ordered. I hate it when I get someone on the phone who can't speak English without a heavy accent So that's my grumble for today. I think I will contact Blair. I have been crocheting. I started a V stitch b/blanket. It took me a while to get it started because I have to strain my eyes when doing the chain and the first row but after that I got quite a bit done, the V stitch is easy.
Ruth, that's just what I need a professional organizer I did do some organizing last week end and I rearranged my stash. It surprises me when I get my yarn out and see how much I have. My church will have a rummage sale in June so I need to get busy and get some of my clothes out to make room in my closet. I have a closet crammed full of clothes but I can't find anything to wear so a lot of it has to go.
Ginny, I hope you enjoy your sick day. reminds me of playing hookey when I was going to school. DS changed our TV company whatever recently I am not sure whether I like it or not. It is a package deal includes computer and phone. I get a lot of phone calls every day mostly wrong numbers or nobody is there. I don't think it is much of an improvement. I hope you get a good deal.
cj & phyl, hope all is well with you. Take care.
now I am thinking about a nap.

Meg, I had the same problem when I called Direct Tv the other day. I can't hear well anyway but this time I got a woman who was obviously in an Asian country of some kind. Couldn't understand much of anything she said. She did try something and I could hear her better for a minute or two. Finally I said I would call back and she didn't say anything. When I called back I got the same kind of person. Couldnt hear her nor understand what she was saying. I asked her to speak louder and she acted like she didn't know what I was saying. I finally asked for the disconnect department and then I got a man who said my name wasn't associated with any account. When I told him I'd already talked to two people he still insisted he couldn't do anything for me so I hung up and called back yet again. Finally got a man that I could hear and understand and that's the person that told me there was nothing he could do so then he was hte one that I told to cancel my account. The woman that called me the next day had kind of a southern accent but I could understand and hear her pretty well.
Your new afgan sounds very pretty and fairly easy. I'm sorry you didn't sleep well. I don't usually sleep very well anymore. Last night I dreamed I was at work all night. And it was the people I worked with here but not this hospital. Same thing happened a couple nights ago. I woke up frequently too and when I went back to sleep I had the same dream....four times! I often have dreams that Im working
Ginny yes the tooth fairy pillow is very easy. I haven't got it done yet but do have the front back and pocket done. I just have to put it together
I'm taking too many breaks so won't get two pairs of mittens done today probably. I'm only on the second one of the first pair but it is almost done so maybe. :Nice thing is when you're done, it's completely done because you use the yarn that pulls the top together to sew the seam and then you can just weave in right then

Good afternoon!!
Meg, so sorry that you are not sleeping well... its very frustrating and really can make things unpleasant. Perhaps tonight you will be able to rest better!! The new afghan must be pretty- wish we could see it!! You are in the fun early stages of a project-then of course it gets to be tedious when you just want the project done. It is so frustrating when a company representative has a poor command of the english language.bv. One would think corporations would consider that when hiring workers to answer phones. to me, it screams that they just do not care about their customers.
Ruth - love how you are so systematic about getting your crafting done. I appreaciate the info on the tooth fairy pillow....perhaps this weekend I will get started on it.
Driving a sports trip this afternoon, so I will get home later. I suspect they will have me drive my normal route and then the sports trip. It will make for a long afternoon. Got a fair amount done this morning- dinner is in the crockpot and now I am catching up with email before I return to work.
Have a great day! Ginny

Ginny, it does sound like you have a long afternoon ahead of you. One more day in this workweek though and you get a couple days off.Slow cookers really are a lifesaver. I'm glad you have your dinner in yours and it will be all ready to eat when you finally get home. I saw a super cute flower video this morning. It looks so complicated but it actually is very easy. As I mentioned I don't usually like to watch videos. I much prefer to have a written pattern so that I can have it in front of me but I can see where a written pattern only for this flower would be very hard to follow. I'm going to be making some of these for things for the girls. Here's the link www.youtube.com/watch?v=htSAyyxCvHQ&t=20sGinny, you will definitely have that tooth fairy pillow done in no time. The face embroidery is the hardest part to me. Once I force myself to do that the rest is, as they say, a piece of cake....wonder how that saying came to be. I do hope that all of you have a great day. CJ, just take the decluttering one step at a time. Don't look at the big picture or you will be overwhelmed. Meg, have a fantastic day and I hope you got some rest. Phyl, you have a great day too. I hope you will be able to do something you enjoy. I did get that one pair of mittens done but that's all the crafting I managed to complete yesterday despite my plans. Will work on more today including that flower. I wonder where she gets the things she shows putting into the middle and how she attaches them.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Ruth - Your mittens sound pretty in those colors. Thanks for sharing the flower video, I will enjoy watching it. Ginny - Hope the extra bus run goes well today and dinner in the crockpot sounds nice too. Meg - I hope you were able to sleep better last night and that the Blair order works out. As far as decluttering I know there are a lot of emotional reasons, and some practical ones (I'm lazy and I'm a procrastinator) that I can't seem to get started. I can't even tackle just a small area without feeling anxiety and being overwhelmed. I have to get past that and get something done. I'm so happy this afternoon because I finally heard from the roofer today and my shingles should be delivered next Monday or Tuesday and then he said they would be by on a good day soon after that to replace the roof. He said it should only take one day. We are supposed to get rain on Sat, Sun and maybe Mon, but I just have to deal with that and then hopefully no more problems with the ceiling leaking. I was really starting to feel that they were pushing me off, but he said they are working 7 days a week, so I can tell they are just really busy. I'll be so glad when this is done. I ordered some fabric the other day from this place below and received it today. They are mostly landscape types that I orders - water, rain, birch trees and stars. I also received the Convergence Quilt book after only ordering it on Tuesday from Amazon - they are so quick. I look forward to reading through it and trying out a quilt. www.bearcreekquiltingcompany.com/shop/category/manufacturers/elizabeth-s-studio/Take care everyone!

It is a stay at home day for me and I have done very little. I did sleep well last night. I did work on my afghan most of the evening. I want to start another b/blanket as I like to have 2 to work on because when I am tired if one I can switch to the other one. I like to have one crochet and the other knit.. The temp is in the 80s here though it is cool in the a.m.
Ruth, I did watch the flower video. If I were going to try one I would have watch the video while I was doing it. It does make a very pretty flower. I enjoyed the piano music while watching. The leaking gut commercial kept popping up. I hope you find time to finish your mittens. I sometimes dream about when I worked. I was a lic. child care provider for 20 years I also worked with children in other facilities before that. My dreams were about people bring their children for me to take care of and I either had too many children or didn't take care of children any more and I didn't have a license and I was afraid that I would get into trouble. I haven't had a lic. for 25+ years. I have often wondered what triggers these dreams.
Ginny, It is a long day for you. I hope the kids behave. Good idea to have prepared dinner ahead of time. When you get home the smell will greet you at the door, enjoy. You are right about the person on the phone representing the company. I think I will write to Blair and tell them how I feel. Also they are taking jobs away from Americans. Also most of the clothes they sell are made in other countries. I think we all need to declutter, maybe a visit to the Fly Lady would help us get started. Have fun with your quilting.

Good evening!!
Yay!!!!! CJ- I am just through the roof happy for you that your roof is going to be fixed!! (Forgive the play on words). Many homes were damaged during that storm and while that is no comfort to you it is a comfort that you were not forgotten. The company themselves probably does not know how to handle the volume of work that they are getting right now, bet they have had to hire extra workers to keep up. Anyway, what a big relief! I have seen fabric from Bear Creek quilting- and if I had a cabin in the woods on a lake I would surely make a quilt from their fabrics! So pretty....and I love that kind of natural/rustic look. Glad that your book and fabric arrived. Speaking of books, have you ever attempted to read a self help book on decluttering? I would think that someone has written a book on the subject and perhaps addressed folks like you who become emotionally tied up in the process. Its a common situation, you are not alone, that is for sure.
Meg, so glad you slept better!! That is awesome that you have 2 projects going- so you can switch between them to alleviate boredom. Hope your temps hold and get no warmer.....
Ruth, thanks for sharing that flower video. Like you, I would do better to read directions, but i am sure I could figure it all out by watching the video a gazillion times and stopping with each step. Its such a nice pattern- very pretty flower. WHat are your plans for the flower? They would be cute to decorate a hat or sweater.
Well, a student at the other school was killed in a car crash yesterday, so my trip to that school was cancelled. It was nice to be home early even though its so darned hot. We had some rain for about 15 minutes and it cooled things down a little bit. We are in for cooler temps this weekend- which I am looking forward to.
Trying to decide if I will be sick the whole day or not tomorrow.
Darn its so hot and sticky. I do dislike summer weather.
Have a good night all Ginny

Ginny, I vote for taking the whole day off.And I'm glad to hear that your extra trip was cancelled but sorry to hear of the death of one of the students at that school.
CJ, I'm so happy to hear that they're getting the shingles delivered and have plans to do the work! Yes deculttering can be very emotionally challenging and as Ginny said, you're not alone if feeling that way.
Meg, good idea to write to those people and express your opinion of their telephone people. I think I'll do the same to tv company. I hope you gt the correct order. I did hear that it was to be hot in your area
When I make that flower I'll see what it looks like in person than maybe will use it on the back of some fingerless gloves. They have so many nice flowers available and I've seen that one before but didn't realize how easy it is....of course I haven't actually tried it yet.
I haven't done any crafting today except for that on our list of what counts as crafting....looking at and downloading patterns. I've also done some cleaning and have made dh some pudding.
I guess just 185 miles from here in our state it did snow. Not here though...it got up to 60 so I'll take that. 70's now for a week...so they say anyway.
Ok now I'm going to think about getting to some actual crocheting.Tomorrow is finish it day and I have a box that has a lot of things in it that need ends woven in...not to mention that ever present box of baby blankets that need edges.I need to look up a box or bin for my to donate items. I just have them piled up now but need to put them in something.
Have a good evening.

Everyone is busy today at least so far so here I am again twice in a row.
Beautiful day here today but I'm inside working on my crocheting. Don't know what we'll be doing once dh gets up from his "nap"
Last night I decided to rip out the birds of a feather gloves. I wasn't paying attention and chained too many stitches to start so the second glove ended up larger than the first one and the first was already a little too big. Plus on the first one I didn't really have the joins right in some rows so decided to start over on another but different pair. I changed my mind about today...so far anyway... didn't feel like weaving in ends and other finishing touches so started that next pair of fingerless instead.
I'm sure by now Ginny is at the zoo with the adorable grandbabies. I love zoo's so wish I could be at one myself. Nearest zoo to us is probably 300 miles or so.The last zoo I was at was in Frankfort Germany when we went over in 2001 to visit ds and his family.
Gonna go make a cup of tea then get back to crocheting.
Have a great day everyone!
