Well, its cold and damp here today, which I welcome. I would much rather have this kind of weather than hot and super sunny, which is what I fear I am in for during the middle of this week. Dh went to Dd#1 today to install a new ceiling fan for her. I actually have the house to myself- might take a nap once I finish some paperwork and fold the laundry. The tooth comes out next Tuesday- its not bothering me at all so waiting a week is not a problem.
Hope everyone is having a good day!! CJ- enjoy this last day of cooler weather- think we are both in for heat in a day or so Ginny

Ginny, are you sure you didn't move here? Well I do remember some late snows in NY but it was western NY on the lakes where that stuff is expected. It's much cooler here today too but upper 40's so not bad. It's mostly always sunny here even when cold. Yesterday was, at times, almost too hot.I know you and CJ would be like me and never want to move to someplace like Fl where its hot and muggy all the time. I know I couldn't stand all that humidity for sure. If I moved anywhere hot it would have to be Arizona. I was there once for a work conference and I loved it there.
I did get the one pair of kid's fingerless done yesterday and one from a second pair. My problem is that there are so many choices even though I reorganized my list that I can't decide which I want to work on next so use up a lot of time making decisions.I also need a nice color of blue yarn. 4 yr old dgs wants blue and I have only a baby blue...light pastel so want to get a nicer blue. One of the dgd's wants teal. I thought I had some but it turned out to be turquoise.Probably the teal she was thinking of was the one I used to make the sweater for her that turned out to be too big but I don't have any more of that and it's a discontinued yarn.
Well gotta go do Monday chores. Have a great day and a great week everyone.

I knew I had seen teal the other day but didn't know what happened to it. Found it just now and also a nice blue so I don't have to buy any of those colors after all.The teal looked more like a green to me so I hadn't looked at the label. It's teal...yay.Now I can get started on my "birds of a feather fingerless gloves for 11 year old dgd.
Starting this week I'm setting up that day for making those donated items as I mentioned yesterday and also a day for finishing seams, weaving in etc.Wed for donating, Friday for finishing. Usually we don't go anywhere on those days so that should work well. I also saw a pattern for a diagonal crochet baby blanket so after I finish this first one made with Ginny's pattern I'm going to start that one. It will be three colors. Maybe I'll set aside Sat evenings for working on baby blankets. At least I won't be wasting time deciding what to do those days...just the specific items I want to make. And for this week I have the items decided. When I receive my new pound of love yarn I ordered yesterday I'm going to start another with Ginny's pattern.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Meg - I'm glad you are O.K. and are getting some crafting in. Your colors sound pretty and remind me of candy corn How scary that the criminal lived so near you, I'm glad he was caught. Ginny - Hope you don't get too much snow and that you enjoyed your time to yourself today. Sounds like we are both getting the warmer weather this week. I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your church member. Ruth - I'm glad you are getting a lot of the gloves finished and I hope you feel better after your yard work the other day. Phyl - Hope you are doing well and getting in some crafting. It was in the 60s and sunny here today. I could take this weather all the time. I'm not looking forward to the high 80s we're supposed to be getting later this week. It will give me a chance to check out the new fans I bought at Costco though. I haven't been doing any crafting, but have been looking at a lot of quilting websites on the Internet so I'll count that as my crafting. Take care everyone!

Good evening!
Cj- glad you made the best of a beautiful day- 60’s and sunny are pretty darned nice!! Did you find anything neat while looking at quilting web sites? Anything to inspire you?
Ruth so glad you found the yarn before you bought more! Teal was my mom’s favorite color- and I think it willl work up well into fg. What a nice idea setting up a schedule for yourself so that your crafting is organized also. Bet it keeps you from being bored too..
Got a few minutes in on the fg for my friend. I have had to modify the pattern a wee bit to accomodate her large hands. I willl have her try the one partial glove on tomorrow to see if I need to make more changes.
Good night all G

I spent some time on the phone today which is one of my least favorite things to do. I had to call Directv because my year of discount is over soon and my payment will go up. They told me that it would be $150 after the middle of May. I asked if there was anything they could do to keep me as a customer because I like the company. They said they could give me $5/month off. Well thats just not acceptable. He supposedly went to check to see if there was anything else and came back saying there's no other discounts available so I told him to just cancel me than. So in a couple weeks we won't have tv except for what we can get locally on antenna and we'll see how that goes. If dh finds he needs tv then we'll sign up for Dish Network. We've had them in the past and they have improved since then and have good deals for new customers. Yes after a year they raise the payment too but you can call and negotiate. I've received a good deal every year with DTV until this year and I did with my cable company too but DTV made me an even better offer so I changed. I had never had a DVR until DTV and we love that. I don't watch much tv myself really but dh does so don't know how he's going to do...as I said, we'll see then decide what to do
After that I did a little cooking and started the birds of a feather gloves which look much nicer than the online picture. They're done in two colors. My main color is white with the teal making the little areas that are supposed to look like birds
CJ our temp today ended up being a little in the 60's but mostly 50's and it rained a couple times and hailed some too with a little thunder and lightening. Yes you did indeed craft looking at the quilt sites.
Ginny, I hope you had a good start to the new week.
Meg, I do hope you're having a good day too
Phyl, Have you been crafting or are you still getting your house prepared for when you have surgery? I hope you get good news from your doctor

Good mornng!!
Ruth, well I hope you can work something out with your TV- does Dish Network also offer a DVR for a reasonable price? We have Direct TV- and I know their rates are high. Dh likes it because he watches a ton of baseball... and Like you I do not watch that much live TV but DVR a lot. It just makes things so much easier. How are the birds of a feather gloves coming out? They sound adorable.
Phyl- absolutely a shower chair sounds like its in order, escecially with your upcoming procedure. Think it will make your life much easier and more safe also. Glad you were able to get some sewing time in !!
Dd just stopped over for a few minutes with 2 of the 3 grandkids- DGD#1 was in school. DGD#2 had the most adorable hand crochetted pink bonnet on!!! Just perfect for a cool morning... Think she has another one in antique white in a slightly larger size. The baby is growing so quickly she will need a larger size soon. Pretty sure I am taking Friday afternoon off to go to the zoo with the kids. Gonna call in sick....I have a lot of sick time left that I will have to forfeit and not be paid for .
Checked the fg on my friend and I have increased the bottom enough to fit her hand. Now I can finish and move on to tooth fairly pillows or whatever. Ginny

Good morning Ginny and all who come in later.
I think taking Friday afternoon off to visit the zoo with the grandchildren sounds like a spectacular idea. Yes it's too bad that sick time has to be lost. It would be great if they would reward you for not using much sick time by paying you for it when you leave the job.
Sounds like it is bonnet weather back there in NY. Babies look so cute in bonnets too so I know your dgd looks adorable..well I'm sure shes adorable with or without the bonnet. The dgs too.
Yes the birds of a feather fg are turning out pretty. I may have to make more of these. They're easy too. I tried making them by following the written pattern the designer posted under her video but she really left a lot out so I had to resort to watching part of her video to find out what she was talking about and after that it was easy but I haven't got to the thumb part yet so will have to go and read and see if I can do it without having to watch that part on the video.I think it should be ok without though.Nice thing is they are made in the round so no seam and they can easily be adjusted for size Next will be tooth fairy pillow so that I can send to youngest dgd before she passes the tooth losing years as the others have. She's six and the next girls is 8. I can't remember when they stop losing baby teeth
I'm glad you got your fg adjusted to your friend's hands, Ginny. Now you'll have them done in no time.
Fairly nice day here. It's still relatively cool but will get a little warmer. Grass is getting so green and growing so soon it will be time to mow.

Well as I suspected would happen someone from Directv called me today and gave me an offer I couldn't refuse. My bill will be actually WAY less than it's been in years and I still have exactly what I have had including the protection plan that also covers my tv's, computer's, etc and it's cheaper than if I switch to Dish even with the new customer offer. So now I don't have to bundle up all my receivers, etc and send back and got a great deal.

Good evening!
Ruth that is so awesome that Direct TV made you such a great deal. (Gee, perhaps I ought to threaten to leave them also!). Indeed, loyalty of a customer ought to be rewarded and it always seemed like an insult to me that they make these great deals to get you to sign up and then raise the rates.
There is no reward for sick time unused.....so I will retire with a ton of sick time that I could have taken and did not. I am calling in sick friday afternoon- which will irritate the heck out of them, but well too bad. Hopefully it will be cool enough Friday morning so that DHD can wear her bonnet....I would love to catch a picture.
Gotta help Dd #2 with something.....have a good night all G

Hello Crafters
phyl - My father had a shower chair and it was a big help for bathing. I hope you can get one and it will help you too. I'm glad you were able to get some sewing done.
Ginny - We used to call those call in sick days "mental health days" when I was working I think going to the zoo with the grandkids sounds fun, I hope you get to do that and have a great time. I love little bonnets for girls, I bet your DGD was so cute, I hope you do get a picture.
Ruth - I'm glad that Direct TV came through with a good package and price for you. Isn't it sad what we have to go through just to get them to offer something fair?
Meg - Hope you are getting in some crafting.
I went to a local quilt shop today looking for the book on the Convergence Quilts - the type of quilt they are having a class on later this month. But they didn't have any books! So I came home and ordered it off of Amazon. They said they had 5 people signed up for the class and the maximum was 12. I actually think I could make one of these quilts myself, since I found a website where a lady had given some pretty detailed instructions. So after I read the book I might just make my own. Here's a link to website:
starquilters.org/2012/01/30/techniques-mini-class-convergence-quilts/
- click on the blue highlighted line "Ricky Tims techniques2" in the second paragraph
adventuresinquiltingandsailing.blogspot.com/2010/04/ricky-timms-convergence-quilt-workshop.html
- here's another version
There were some beautiful fabrics in the quilt shop, but I resisted buying any. I did see a T-Shirt that had a saying on the front about "needing more fabric"
I did buy a pattern, that is a quilt that another shop is having a class for in June:
sweetteapatternco.bigcartel.com/product/scrambled-geese-pdf-pattern
- I see this done with the flying geese triangles all in one color on a printed background, rather than modern like this. The pattern is pretty easy so I could make this one by myself too.
So even though I think the classes might be fun, I really think it would be better for me just to try these at home. It would be less "trouble" than lugging all my supplies and machines to the store for the class.
Weather here today was sunny and in the 70s, but supposed to be in the 80s the next few days.
Take care everyone!

CJ, it's good to see you. Those quilts sound great and I know you can do them without going to a class. Sometimes classes are a lot of fun though and meeting new people is always interesting.
It's supposed to be in 70's all the rest of the week here and dh is already dreading it being too hot. I don't know what he'll do when it gets to 80's to stay and above. And we don't have humidity.
Congrats on resisting buying the fabric. Did you buy the t shirt. I love tshirts with interesting sayings on them.I'll have to get one that says I need more yarn and maybe in parentheses it will say...sure like a hole in the head.
Yes it's sad that we have to play games with these companies. And Ginny, you should just call them and say that you've been a loyal customer for years and yet you heard that some customers have been getting discounts for that and you wonder what they can do for you. In the past they've always given me some kind of discount but this time I had to just say ok cancel my account and then wait for someone to call back. Best to try to talk to an account specialist. I have to do it with the cable company every year too. I get my internet and phone from them.
Ok I'm going to check those links you posted.
