Oh I looked up that product 101...couldn't find anything like that. Sounds like it must be a fabric stabilizer though. Is that correct, Phyl?

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Ginny - I'm glad to hear your friend liked her sewing machine. Hope you enjoyed the day with the grandkids. Meg - It's nice that Devin has the pool to use. Maybe you can get in sometime when your DS is around to watch out for you. That must have been frustrating to see a different color yarn in that skein, hopefully you were able to work out the problem. Ruth - Hope you are feeling better today and that you can get some crocheting done. Phyl - Hope you are getting things done before your surgery. I did get up early again today just in case the roofers showed up without calling but they didn't come. Since they weren't here by 9:00 A.M., I went out and bought groceries and went to the bank. I thought about calling them today just to check where I'm at on the schedule but I didn't do it. If I haven't heard from them by Monday I'll call. It's just frustrating since this past week the weather was so good and they could have finished my roof. This coming week has several days with rain or showers projected and I don't know if they work on days like that. I'm also worried about the weight of those bundles of shingles on my roof for so long. Last night I could hear noises overhead in my bedroom and the shingles were placed above where I sleep. I wonder if the roof could crack or fall in - I know, I'm a worrywart Take care everyone!

CJ, I can see why you would be worried becuase shingles are heavy. But roofs are made to withstand heavy weights so there is probably no reason to worry.
Meg, I had to smile hearing that Devin is ready to start swimming for the year. With those temps that ;you have he could too. Here a person would be a popsicle if they tried to swim not.
I've been busy doing some cooking and baking. Now I had to stop and rest. I have split pea and ham soup simmering. An au gratin potato casserole in the oven and a carrot cake in the oven now I'm worn out. Jut have to make the icing for the cake and I'm done. I've been cleaning as I went so don't have too much cleanup to do.
Weather here is weird today. Started out cool and overcast, then got all sunny and went back to very overcast and I think it may evn be raining.
Ok, back to work

hi, ruth there is another name for it.connie just calls it product 101. I Will have to see if I have some with the label bit.
well another curve has been thrown. long story. my primary ordered another test on the platelet count. still high 900.
so calls back and forth to the hospital where I will have my surgery done.their hemogtolist will study my platelet factors. I will get a call this wekend(hopefully) as to go ahead with the surgery or not.
my primary for safety reasons thinks I should cancel. I could bleed easier or clot easier.
he want the hemocott lab to call me this weekand do a ptt and ldh test. I may have to go on medication for it.
IT BEING THAT HIGH 900-917 ON THE TWO TEST WHY DID THE OTHER DOCTOR CLEAR ME FOR SURGERY??.HAVE THE SURGERY OR NOT I AM
OTHERWISE IT HAS BEEN A GOOD DAY.IN GODS HANDS.
ww toay lost .8 got a haircut, did a little grocery shopping. go the shower curatain to put over the tub for when I have to use the shower chair.
ginny glad your friend loves the sewing machine.she will sew up a storm now.phyl

Phyl- will pray that a sane and safe solution for the platelet issue is found quickly. Of course its your doctors decisions- whether they consider it safe to procede or wait. I can imagine you are tired of being postponed too. You are right, this is all in Gods hands- and I will pray that this all works out well for you. Congrats on the haircut and the weight loss.
Ruth - you are a busy person getting all that cooking done! (Hope that Dh appreciates it!) the house must smell amazing and cool and overcast is good cooking weather.
CJ- yes, the additional weight of the shingles will cause the roof to shift and make noise. But most homes are able to have on 2 roofs- 2 layers of shingles- before its a problem. Relax, you are dealing with professionals and before too long the new roof will be installed.
Yes, my girlfriend is already planning a quilt...which will, regretfully, require a trip to the LQS. Now, she has never been there before, so I guess I will have to take her there. Tough job, but someone has to do it.
Thankful its Friday Ginny

Phyl, I was wondering the same thing...why in the world would your doc tor clear you for surgery if your platelet count truly was over 900/ So that's why I asked about it again the other day thinking it was a typo on the part of your lab or maybe you read it wrong or something. Personally I would cancel. I agree with your doctor on that. I think you need to get with a hemotologist before you have any kind of procedure done...just my opinion. If it were me I'd be cancelling. And in God's hands or not sometimes a doctor can go against what God gave him the good sense for and do something he shouldn't be doing. Makes me kind of wonder about that doctor.Doctors are not always right. I guess he may be a great surgeon but the preop stuff passes him by if he didn't notice the platelet count not only being elevated but elevated to twice the highest number of the normal range.
Nowdays I do know that my dh appreciates all the cooking and baking I do for him. For some reason in the last couple years he thanks me for everything even washing dishes. It's not like I used to have dirty dishes or a dirty floor or left laundry, I do everything the same and he thanks me each time. I was sure surprised when he started doing that. I just always thought of of things as something one of us was supposed to do and while I did the things he disliked doing he did the things I disliked doing so it all worked out.
And Ginny, a weekend!!! I hope you have some good things planned and have an enjoyable and restful time.

Hi everyone, I didn't sleep well last night and rather than fight it I got up and worked on the b/blanket that I am knitting until 4 a.m. I set my clock for 9.a.m. because I wanted yo go knit wits. I did have a short nap when I came home. I have really got my nights and days mixed up. Of course I don't get enough exercise. At Knit Wits I worked on the b/blanket I am crocheting. The lady sitting beside me was crocheting a corner to corner b/blanket with one of the striping yarns and it looked lovely. I keep plodding along with the yarn from my stash. Building up a stash is not a great idea because they are always coming out with new yarns and I can't justify buying any more yarn. When I looked closer at the yarn added on to my skein I noticed the color is navy blue which is not even close to the lavender I was knitting with. Most of the yarns we buy come from other countries and I don't think they care as much about the quality of the yarn they send us. I will probably get in touch with Red Heart next week.
Ginny, I hope you had a nice day with the DGKs your DD is blessed that you and your DH are available to help out. I am glad your friend was thrilled to get a new sewing machine. I hope she enjoys learning to make quilts. I also hope you enjoy helping her
Ruth, I hope you are feeling better. You probably had too much sun when you were gardening. I think you are a super grandma because you are continually thinking of things to make for your DGKs
Phyl. I hope that they don't have to cancel your surgery but if they do cancel they are doing it for good results and they will reschedule in the near future. In the mean time take care.
cj, I am so sorry they have not started on your roof. You have been waiting such a long time.
I am off to read or listen and perhaps work on the b/blanket I am knitting.
Have a good night & take care.
BYW, are any of you going to watch Harry get married tomorrow?

Meg I didn't realize that tomorrow is the wedding day. No I won't be watching it though. I'm sorry to hear you didn't get to sleep last night. If I can't get to sleep then get up and do something then when I go back and try again I still can't get to sleep for a couple hours. I'm glad you got to knitwits. I'm sure you enjoyed being with others. I did a corner to corner one time. It was so amazing to me that I actually came out with the exact one block at the end like I was supposed to. It's a very fun thing to do. I'll definitely have to make another some time. When I contacted REd Heart and they wanted me to send them the bad yarn I had already thrown it away so be sure to save your's so that they can see what was done in case they want you to do the same in sending it to them. As I mentioned they will send you mailers with free postage.
Yes I often look at all this yarn and ask myself what I was thinking because of all the new yarns that are coming out and I would like to try. However I have a huge supply now so need to use this up or give the ones I don't like away so that sometime I might be able to try new ones. Of course I keep ordering more too. I just got some yesterday that will make wonderful mittens for my charity endeavors. They're really nice kids colors so I think kids will love them. I'm kind of having a hard time figuring out how big to make the thumb though. It looks too big to me but I tried it against the drawing of my 4 year old dgs' hand and it looks ok but just from the drawing of the hands the kids send me I can't really tellwhat part of the thumb goes into the thumb opening on a mitten. Is it from the tip of the thumb to that joint just across from the webbing between the thumb and index finger or is it from thumb tip to down where the thumb joins the wrist? I guess having the thumb a little too long is better than it being too short.
Meg, I don't know what I'd do if I didn't have all these grandchildren liking my crochet items. I wouldn't have anyone to make for except for the places a person can donate. I like doing both so I'm thankful the kids like these things. I don't really wear gloves, hats or scarves so can't make them for myself. I've made a couple things for dh and he's liked them but he can use only so many and he likes his hats knitted and I'm just not good at knitting. I did make him a hat that was knitted about 10 years ago and he still wears it ALL the time. He even wears it to bed in the winter to keep his naked head warm.I knitted it holding two strands of yarn together and it's quite loose on his head but he likes it that way and now I don't know how many stitches I casted on and have no idea how many I would cast on now. I actually have some yarn that he picked out that he wanted me to order and need to figure out how to start and make that hat.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Phyl - I'm sorry to hear there is so much uncertainty about your upcoming surgery. I hope they can get things worked out soon so you can make plans accordingly. Meg - Sorry you couldn't sleep, but hopefully it was nice to get some knitting done. I'll definitely be watching the Royal Wedding - it's next Saturday - May 19th. I was a big Diana fan so I've followed William and Harry's lives since they were born. I also love all "wedding stuff", so I can't wait to see the dress, flowers, all the other royal family, clothes, hats, etc. Ginny - I'm so, so sorry you'll have to go to the LQS with your friend, what a tough job you have Ruth - How nice that your DH thanks you for doing things for him, it's nice to feel that our efforts are appreciated. Thanks all for your thoughts on my roof. It's still on and I didn't hear the creaking noises last night. I'm trying to be patient and hopefully I'll hear from them soon to find out when they'll be here to replace my roof. It's supposed to be very hot here today - in the 90s. I made myself some Iced Tea to enjoy later and also cut up a salad this morning to have for lunch. Take care everyone!

CJ, I got very frustrated with my roofer. I wouldn't hire him again. He kept putting me off. Came while I was out of town and tried to tell my dh we owed more which wasn't true. And he didn't do a good job. He was here every day for a week and left early every day. Turned out my sil knew him and the man had a drinking problem.

Good evening! Not sure where today went, but gone it is....
CJ- hang in there, your roof will be installed within a few days and you will be able to rest easy. Lets hope by this time next week all your roofing woes are a thing of the past. Thanks for the reminder of the royal wedding! I too will try to watch it- for me I might have to DVR the event as the next couple of weekends are busy. Its fun to watch all the pageantry and pretty dresses....and the strange hats! Hope your weather is not too warm....sounds like summer weather already.
Ruth, indeed it sounds like you need to figure out how to make a hat for your Dh- just in case he wants a second one. Are you self taught with regard to crochet and knitting or did someone teach you? You and Meg are inspiring me to attempt a corner to corner afghan, although its low on my list of projects.
Meg, you absolutely should get in touch with red heart regarding the yarn- and I hope that they are fair and make a good attempt to make the problem right. Sure does sound as though your body clock is thrown off....are there any senior excercise classes near you that you could attend? Perhaps some activity would help.
Phyl- thanks for solving the mystery...and telling us what the pellon 101 is. (Gee, I think I even have some here!). Sounds like you had a productive day.
Well got some housework done, donated some items, and ran an errand. Also got a little bit of gardening done. Tomorrow is DGD’s baptism so we will be attending Dd’s church- its going to be a rather long day but it will be good to see the grandkids. As busy as this month is shaping up to be, a nice quiet day at home would be lovely- but will not happen.
Have a good night all G

CJ, yes before you know it you'll have a nice non leaking rood.
Phyl, thanks for the info. I may have some of that too.
Ginny, baptism and mother's day all on the same day. Yes it will be busy but nice.
Started a different pattern for mittens and there's a mistake in this one too. This one is a pdf from Lion Brand and already has corrections but they overlooked this one. It's pretty obvious too after you attempt the next row and find that ...well it's a long story but it is a typo. They also were supposed to be a size for 3-7 years old but again, they are huge and fit my hand and I don't have a small hand.So since I had only 4 rows done I ripped it out to the cuff and just pulled a couple cuff rows off and restarted. It's still looking very large for a size for that age group but it doesn't really matter because there will be a lot of different size children receiving mittens at that church I'm sure.
Have a wonderful evening and happy Mother's Day to all you mothers.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Ginny - Hope the baptism went well today. I woke up very early this morning (around 5:00 A.M.) because it was raining. I never did get back to sleep so finally around 6:30 I decide to work on piecing the quilt top for that On Point Charm quilt. It took about 2 hours but I finished it. It's a small top, less than 40 inches square. I like it but I don't love it with the fabrics I put together. I don't know if I'd do another one of these tops, even though it was very easy, especially using the precut charm packs. But it was a lot of piecing and pressing. I've spent the rest of today just relaxing and watching some TV shows. It's so much cooler here today, around 70 and cloudy and damp. So I have the windows open to get some of the heat out of the house. HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!

happy mother's day friends, the kids will be here in about an hour. we are grilling chicken.tom made baked beans. jeana and carey are bringing cheesy potatoes done in a crock pot, I made cold slaw with a vinegar dressing.
carey even made a scartch angel food cake .says she has 12 egg yokes left.
ruth it is not the surgeon's fault. the lady doctor that clears the patients for surgery is the one who should have caught it.
I wil probably get calls form both clinics hemotologist tomorrow. then will have to make up my mind. phyl
