Sometimes seeds are surprising and come up. I have found lettuce to be difficult to grow with old seeds, but it probably depends on the variety too- your seeds might just work out fine. I have planted marigolds (they are up) have to put my zinnias in . Alyssum is great cause when established it reseeds well- always a bonus. And I love lobelia-; have some in a planter with some small yellow daisy like flower. Bought those plants at lowes. THink the rest of my flowers will be zinnia seeds, which I have here. I love zinnias- they usually do well and are easy to grow.
Off to watch some TV- then bed. SO looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow am. G

Nice thing is, Ginny, you have a long weekend. Any special plans. We have no plans for the holiday. Just the usual. My neighbor planted lettuce last year. I don't know how he kept the rabbits out of it but he gave us some and it was excellent lettuce. I do have a lot of zinnia seeds. I guess I'll try those. I sorted my fgs and have 4 pairs for everyone but the oldest dgd. I have two for her. I thought that I had a lot for the oldest girls but was wrong. So I started a pair and have the first one done I might get the second done tonight but maybe not and I know what ones I want to make for her 4th pair. Well I don't have the ones for the guys done yet either but I need some other yarn and have to look for it.I do have several pairs of extras too. I did find a couple more completed pairs in my "office"...here on the living room couch under the pile of yarn. So I have over 30 pairs done plus a couple pairs that I made awhile back that need seams. Most of the others need the embellishments put on and ends woven in so that will be a whole day's work doing the finishing. ..maybe two days. I did do a little outside. Can't remember if I've already said that, and I'm too lazy to go look back and see, but not too much. Tomorrow I'm going to try to do a few things out there. Dh did tell me that cooked onions would be ok so I'll make some to put with the peppers tomorrow for on the Italian sausage. Today he had just peppers on some jalapeno/cheese sausages I sure hope those roofers showed up!!

I did finish the other glove. They are made with distinct right and left gloves and I thought I had done something wrong because when I finished the "right" glove it was for the left hand. Then I made the "left" and it was for the right hand. I checked comments and, yes, several people mentioned that the two were transposed. Doesn't matter really though if you just do one of each. So one more to go and then to find the yarn for my ds and his oldest son, make those and I'm done with fingerless gloves for awhile anyway. I do have to make myself some as they will be very helpful for my Raynaud's.

Happy Saturday all!!
CJ- gee I am hoping you will check in and be able to report that your roof repair is DONE.
Ruth- indeed as long as you have a left glove and a right one, well then if the directions have them flipped does it matter?? Yes, ma’am you must make some for yourself. I found that my first pair (which came out ok but I modified the pattern a bit for the other pairs) was a nice thing, very comfortable in the winter. Yes they would help with Raynauds (I have infrequent bouts with that).
Not sure what is on for me today.....my friend wants me to accompany her to pick up a dress for her sons wedding and we would stop at Hobby Lobby. Not sure if Dh wanats to do something. I figure we will go to a parade this weekend, and perhaps a celebration of Memorial Day at one of the local historical locations. Or there is a concert down town this evening.
BBL to see who checked in. Have a great day Ginny

It's 11am and 80 degrees already but on Monday the high will be only 50 or something like that.
Ginny, it does seem like you have a fun weekend kind of planned with choices to pick from. I hope too that you can get some time to just rest also. Yes I'm sure you're dreading having to go to Hobby Lobby and AC Moore....hahha. Is the friend that's buying the dress the one you got the sewing machine for?
I did find out why designers have you make a glove for the right and a different one for the left even when it doesn't have a specific design that has to be on the back of the hand... I never thought of it before but it's because of the seam...that little line that forms when crocheting in the round. That way you can place your thumb hole so that the "seam" in on your palm and won't show. The ones I made last night did have a design on the back though. Those amazing butterflies you make by crocheting chains then making them into a butterfly by crocheting around the chains into the middle of your skipped stitches below the chains so it was important to have them on the back of the hand but of course they ended up there despite her error. I also had to modify the pattern some for size. It's always interesting to do the math when a pattern had a certain design.
I still don't know why all fingerless gloves patterns are too large. I never, in all my years crocheting, found that I am a loose crocheter. Everything else comes out to be the correct size.I know I have a small wrist but my actual hand is a normal size for a woman
Well have a great day and hope to hear from CJ with good news

Helllo again, Hot here too- my phone says 87. Tonight is supposed to go in the mid 60’s and stay there for the day, which is fine by me.
I came to the same conclusion about the fg that the turnaround point is supposed to be on the palm. Kind of had to figure out that myself, as I reworked the pattern to meet the changes I made. Not going shopping tonight, my friend overdid it gardening. (She has fibromyalgia). I might see what I can do online. Yes that is the same friend who we gave a sewing machine to. Her oldest daughter is pregnant again- so we will be checking out fabrics for a baby quilt in a week or so.
I have no inspiration to go outside and garden.....or do anything. I really dislike hot weather. G

Hello Crafters - Hope you are enjoying your weekend Sadly the saga of my roof replacement continues! The roofers called around 2:00 P.M. and said they weren't coming because their truck had broken down. At that point I had to accept that I think they have lied about all the appointments they told me they had for me and that they never did have any intention of coming at those times. They now said they are coming on Wednesday and I told the guy I talked to I want them there Wednesday morning, no 1:00 P.M. stuff. If they do not come on Wednesday then I'm contacting that day and asking for a bill to be emailed to me with the cost of the shingles and supplies that have been at my house for 3 weeks and I'll pay them and find someone else to replace my roof. I'm done with them if they don't get it done next week. I find it really sad and disheartening that a company would treat someone like this. I'd have respected them if they told me in March (when they knew I had leaking in my house) that there was no way they'd get my roof done until May or June. At least then I could have found someone else. But they strung me along and that's what has upset me the most. I was very upset yesterday afternoon and evening, but there is really nothing I can do about it right now so I'm calmer today. We're supposed to get some thunderstorms this weekend, but hopefully I won't have to deal with too much leaking. Thanks all for your support, caring and concern for me with this situation, I have really appreciated it Talking about flowers, my father and I would also get a bunch of wax begonias and put them out in pots in the yard. Those flowers would last through to Fall. I have one Peony that is in bloom now, but I've been too distracted to take good care of it this year and I didn't really get to enjoy the flowers. It's very hot here, near 90 and humid. I had been waiting to put in an AC unit in an upstairs window until the roof was done (so it wouldn't be in the way), but I can't wait anymore and I put it in today. It's been miserable sleeping at night with just a fan blowing the hot air around. Take care everyone!

CJ, I'm sorry to hear that they are giving you the run around yet again. I would definitely report them to the BBB.And if they charge you too much I'd sue. In fact I don't think you shoujld be paying them at all. Make them ccome and get their shingles and when you hire another company they can use the ones they want. I don't think most companies want to use already purchased shingles. I don't know though. My dh did remind me that our roofer did get sick during the time he promised he would be here...April..and when he actually showed up which was July. He wasn't sick all that time though but did have serious illness...pulmonary emolus and was in ICU...even though he was a young guy
BBL dh wants me to do something

Hello everyone, Sorry I haven't posted for days. I don't know where the time goes because I don't do very much and I stay home a lot. I have been crafting every day and reading a lot. The b/blanket I am crocheting is almost finished, just a few more rows to crochet. I have a lot of ends to weave in and then a border. I wanted to do a chevron stitch b/blanket but I have had trouble starting it so I may do something else probably knit something. I did not go to Knit Wits yesterday. For some reason I was very tired so decided to stay home.
cj, I hope the roof is finished if not I would read them the riot act and tell them to pick up their roofing materials and find another roofing company. A good roofing company would give you references also does he have a license? You can check if he has had complaints. I am sure your state has rules and regulations and somewhere you can complain to. I would never has put up with a company like the one you are dealing with. Here in Ca. all the old tiles have to be removed and new plywood under the new tiles. Years ago we could have 3 layers but that was changed years ago. Anyway good luck and I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. I wish I could be there to support you.
Ginny, I don't know whether they have seat belts in the school buses here. I haven't had anyone ride the school bus for years. My DD rode the school bus for years and my DGD was also picked up for a time. It seems to me it would be a good idea to have them.
Phyl It sounds like you had a very nice day. I would call it a quiet day or retreat day. I am glad you are keeping well and getting out and enjoying life.
Ruth, How many pair of gloves have you made? I am sure your kids will all appreciate them on a cold day. It just doesn't get cold enough here for caps and gloves in the winter. I have made them for Devin but he doesn't get a lot of wear out of them. I used to run a tape through his sleeves with a glove on each end so that when he took them off they would not get lost. Mostly I just make my b/blankets.
Are you doing anything interesting this weekend.?
Have a good evening.

Good evening!
Meg - great to see you here, we are just glad you are doing well. Guess some of us (myself including) are worry warts- so its a reasurrance to us when each of us checks in to say hello. Sounds as though you have had a few lazy days, which is absolutely fine. Glad you are getting your crafting time in- and we all know how that goes- what seems like an hour ends up being many hours. As far as school bus safety records go, the two states with the best safety records in the nation are California and New York. Knowing that I bet Ca also mandates seat belts on buses.
CJ- well you are very patient. I think you are spot on- most of what they have told you are lies. Keep your fingers crossed that they do indeed show up on Wednesday- and in the am at that. Perhaps a call to the BBB would be in order also. Lets hope this saga is almost over for you and they do get the job done this week. I too have peonies- some I purchased and the pink flowering plant I took from my parents home years ago.. None are blooming yet- it will be another day or so. Peonies need little attention- hope you can enjoy yours.. they bloom far too quickly. but they are so pretty
Got some yardwork done. DD and the grandkids came over too to roast marshmallows. good to see them.
Yes, I love Ruths yellow flowers too. Yellow is probably my favorite color. Have a blessed evening G

Meg, great to see you. As Ginny says some of us are worrywarts and are concerned when someone is missing but we've come to know that you can't always get on the computer. I'm glad you're having some time to work on crafting and listen to or read your books. The rose that is in the avatar isn't actually mine and I'm not sure why I didn't just put mine on there. Mine is more yellow than that one which to me looks more on the gold side. The bush is looking better by the day.
Ginny, what fun to roast marshmallows with the grandchildren. I don't have a peonie bush. I don't know if they grow here or not. I did do a lot of yard work and some inside today too and it was very hot. The heat and work made me very drowsy so I had to take a nap.I got my tomato plants repotted into the outdoor containers, got some seeds planted outside and indoors. I moved my plants around in my dining room (which we never eat in...mostly grow plants) and got hummingbird food made and put into the feeders.
It's supposed to rain tomorrow. I know the weekend campers are not going to be happy. 90% chance of rain and it's raining right now. We seem to be getting an unusually large amount of rain this year.
Meg, I've made 30 pairs of fingerless gloves that I counted then found a couple more under some yarn. I have one more pair for oldest dgd to make and I want to make two each for ds and oldest dgs (of my ds' children that is) I have some extras so will take those as for ddil. So I'm almost done with gloves and will go to another project soon...maybe the Christmas tree skirt but there are also some hair things I'd like to make for the girls.I'm still waiting for the measurements of the Bibles so that I can make the covers that dgds requested.

Just checking before I go to bed.
cj, I would not pay them for the tiles and I would check and see if he has a current license. If he does not have a lic. and is required to have one then he is breaking the law. I am sure if you contact another roofing company they probably would prefer to use their brand of tiles. Do you have a Home Depot. near you? they would probably be able to give you information you need whether you use their roofers or not. When I was going to remodel my bathroom one of the people there gave me the name of a contractor and he did do a good job and I had him remodel my 2nd bathroom. I have made my mistakes in the past and learned from them.
Now I am off to bed. Sleep well.

Ginny, somehow I missed your post above where you said that you weren't going shopping after all. And yes I see some quilting being taught for that baby quilt. Your friend will be pleased to be able to make it for her new grandbaby and with her new machine.
It's to be cool here today too. High now they say will be 70 so it will be comfortable and there's no rain so far so I may go out and do some more yard work. I did half my long list yesterday but each item on the rest of the list will take awhile so probably a day for each task.ANd I have to add a couple things to the list. Then there's the garage and the painting I want to do inside the house.Of course there's a lot I want to do EVENTUALLY but the list of things I want to accomplish this summer is what I need to concentrate on.To do the painting I'll have to move a lot of "stuff" and will try to get rid of some things. My one goal now is to make the 30 pairs of mittens for that church (I made over 30 fingerless so can sure make 30 prs of mittens) and I saw some great cowls with hoods for children I might get to to add to those mittens. Their hoods have little animal ears if you want to add them to the little ones and they will keep necks as well as heads warm.IN donations men are pretty neglected. Our Caps for Kids leaders were always requesting that we make more hats for men and boys so my mittens so far have been for little boys and I want to make some "man cowls". I need to get some things started to have right here so that when I stop and watch tv I can just pick up something small and work on it.
Sometimes in the summer it can be challenging to knit or crochet. We have no A/C so when I'm crocheting sometimes my hands get sweaty which makes crocheting difficult.
Dh did one thing in the garage yesterday, turned funny, and now is having a hard time walking. Getting into a sitting position and then trying to stand are a problem for him He was trying to clear out his "man cave" aka computer room, and was packing things and taking to the garage for temporary storage so he can paint in there. Then he thinks he's going to put in a new floor....right...good luck with all that bending and kneeling.
Well have a wonderful and blessed day all. I'll see you all later

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Thanks for all your thoughts about my roofers. They are licensed and have excellent reviews on all the websites like HomeAdvisor, etc. So I'm not sure what is causing the problems I'm having with them. It might be that they have just taken on more business than they can handle and my small roof is a lower priority to them than the bigger houses where they'll make more money, who knows? I don't want to worry about being accused of stealing their supplies and shingles if I did try to use them with another company, since I've never paid for anything yet. I don't need any legal problems, I have enough other ones Hopefully I'll get everything done this week. It's a warm cloudy day and we're supposed to get thunderstorms tonight, I'm hoping they wont be too bad. I'm checking out the blogs for Slow Stitching Sunday today, so that's my crafting for the day.
