Things are going down hill for me. Shoulder surgery cancelled. Sunday I ended up in the ER diagnosed with Gastritis. I have never experienced such pain. They gave me medicine including Tylenol with Codeine for pain. I took it Monday night and it was awful. I was having vivid dreams hallucinations and horrible pain. Was also running high fever. Fever broke last night. Think I might still have a low grade. Will see my primary on Thursday. Still very weak. My stomach is very sore. Following the Gastritis diet
On top of all that my Dad is not doing well. He is in advanced stages of COPD. I wanted to go see him after my surgery but now will have to wait.
Hope everyone is having a good summer

Good morning ladies! Taking a few minutes to catch up here....
Suze....very weird about that charge. Glad your company caught it right away. And you asked last week....I live in IOWA , not Idaho. We’re on the northwestern edge...on the map it is where IA, NE, & SD all come together. This part of the state dies have curb & soy bean farming, but we also have a unique landform called the loess hills which is where we live.
Steph....early departures like that are not my favorite....good luck. I would be tempted to just stay up all night since i’d be up at 3 anyway yo get ready. But some sleep is better than none. Glad your power got restored & that it wasn’t too bad at home all things considered.
Becky.....oh no!!!! So glad you went to your NP....but sorry to hear about not one but 2 broken bones! That was a freak accident! Healing vibes for your tootsie....and do take it easy. I know it will be hard for you, Ms Biker-Walker....but it needs to rest & get better. Would you email your chili bean recipe....I would like to try it, too!
JT....hope DH is starting to feel better since his most recent procedure. Glad it provides some relief for him & has kept the progression in check. I just continue to be amazed at the advances in medicine....so many improvements. And no....we don’t run a B&B....just seems like it at times when the kids & dgks are here. Seems like we have stretches with no one, then others where some or all are here every few weekends. It’s all good ...we’re open for business when they can make it this way!
Celeste...you have the craziest dreams....lol. Glad the kids are doing better!
Connie...hurray on the fridge delivery. Hope this one lasts a good long time. Fingers crossed that the longarm just needed a rest & now ready to get back to work.
Sandy....hope the girls are having fun at the tourney. Safe travels!
Need to move some laundry and restore some order here. BBL

Celeste...could you email the chili bean info? And yes on the 2 hr chunk out of the day....that’s what it was like when we were going to the gym daily. Shouldn’t be a big deal since we’re retired, but....it can get in the way of getting other things done. Is that an excuse?

OH good grief TERRY it never rains but what it pours. As one who suffers greatly w/ stomach and intestinal pain and issues, I DO actually feel your pain. Stay on that diet until you're better and then GRADUALLY add in other things. Do they have any idea what caused it? Food poisoning? A virus? Sorry about your dad. It seems several of us have elder care issues (I don't but Bob does).
hahaha ANGIE I read your location and I thought "Does Iowa touch NEVADA? (which I realize is NV not NE)." And YUP I too would skip sleeping if I had to LEAVE at 4:30!! Even if I were all packed I'd still have to get up at 3PM.
BECKY since I archived your email about the chili beans it was really easy for me to send SUZE and ANGIE the recipe for "BECKY'S CHILI BEANS".
It's weird people. It's so easy and not fancy but for some reason it's AMAZINGLY good. My advice, at least the first time out, is not to make too many changes. I had to change up the spices b/c I didn't have or couldn't find some of the stuff Becky included, but other than that and 1/2 a chopped onion, I pretty much stuck w/ her recipe as it stands and am very glad I did.
SOMEONE ELSE (Besides Becky) make it and tell me if I lost my mind? It's so GOOD.
WHen BECKY talked about making a big batch and eating it for a few days I thought "I wouldn't want to eat the same thing 3 or 4 days out of the week". Well NEXT time I'm using 3 lbs gr. beef and 3 cans beans b/c I COULD eat this all week. Bob really liked it a lot too. Not as much as I DO b/c I'm guessing he's not obsessing about BECKY'S BEANS LOL
Bob will be leaving work about now to drive to his mother's house and meet w/ hospice. I don't envy him at all. When he gets home I'll actually be NICE to him! Nahhhhh he'll think it's Armageddon!

Celeste....thanks for the recipe ....and thanks Becky for emailing it to her in the first place.
Terry...oh no!!! That sounds miserable....and frustrating to have to postpone your surgery, which I’m sure you wanted to get behind you. Sorry about your dad....it is so sad to watch them decline in health. Is he st home or in a care facility?

Miracle of miracles....the longarm is working! I did part of the customer quilt but stopped because it was getting uncomfortably hot up there. Even with a window unit air conditioner, the central air can't keep the third floor comfortable when temps are 80 or above. Will work on it tomorrow when temps will top out in the low 70s. And I'm feeling like I need a nap.
TERRY- so sorry to hear about your gastritis and your reaction to the medicine. Very inconvenient timing as well. I hope you recover quickly and can see your dad soon.
CELESTE- since it's easy to locate, go ahead and email Becky's Chilibeans to me, too. And last night must have been the night for dreaming about kissing our gay friends. I dreamed about my friend, Bill. But also dreamed about kissing Nikolaj Coster-Waldau. (Yes, please!) Guess I was being loose in my dreams!
Not sure what I'm making for supper. May need to grab that nap first.....

CELESTE Chase caught it, denied the charge and alerted me. I’ve always had good service that way from Chase and Citi. And Advocare…hmmmm. One friend did an Advocare 80 day challenge and trimmed off a ton of inches and some pounds; and truth be told she had already lost most of the pounds from a prior diet. She was working out like crazy, but did say the supplements give her energy and make her feel good. Her daughter sells it, is in great shape, and she eats clean almost all of the time and works out fanatically. So friend B tried it on the advice of friend A, and was discouraged when she had lost 10# in about 6 weeks, 7# in the first 2-week “cleansing” phase. I think she said she spent about $500 in Advocare supplements. I believe her progress came from the fact that she followed the diet to a T and increased her activity, not the supplements. Long story short, she went back to Adkins. I tried the green tea again today with lunch and it didn’t seem as sweet. So maybe it was just me that day. TERRY oh my gosh – I am so sorry that life is throwing you such curveballs right now. The gastritis sounds very painful, and it discouraging that your surgery was cancelled and you are not able to see your Dad when you wanted to. Hang in there and keep us posted on how you and your Dad are doing. I hope you get to see him soon. ANGIE I googled Loess Hills – very cool. I’ll have to remember the scenic byway when I make it up that way. Yes, CELESTE, you’ve lost your mind. Oh you meant on the chili beans? LOL LOL YAY CONNIE on the long arm! OK I googled Nikolaj because I didn’t recognize the name, but immediately recognized his pic…. Jaime! BE STILL MY HEART! Lord have mercy, this day just took a whole new turn. I cannot stop looking at his picture. I need to get crackin' on stairs.. I'm behind for the day. NoS - checking right along, and I'm planning for dinner (Italian) out tonight - actually how to fit one of their delicious rolls on my one plate!

Steph Thank goodness you got your power back last night. It's 99 here today so probably 100 in Austin and you would really be miserable.I don't blame you for refusing to cook after Terry didn't want to stay in a hotel if the power still wasn't on.I'm glad you didn't lose all your groceries. That happened to us once when we had to use a generator for 3 days.
Celeste I'm beginning to wonder about you and your dreams.
Suze I'm glad the scale is moving down again.I'm glad Chase caught the fraudulent charge on your account.
I decided I didn't want to wait on the Amazon post op shoe b/c I hadn't even gotten a message from them saying it had been shipped so I found a medical supply place in Bastrop and we stopped there. They had a post op shoe and it's a good thing b/c I had my old post op shoe on and we walked in the door and the old shoe broke and fell apart. The new shoe feels heavy but at least the shoe doesn't crack every time I take a step.
Terry I'm sorry you are having so many health problems and that your dad is not doing well.
Thanks for the wishes everyone.I'm staying off the bike but I did walk in the Bastrop HEB while I was shopping today and it hurt and just makes me so tired so I know I won't be in a hurry to get back to exercise.
Celeste I have never tripled the batch myself. We just double it and we have this large tablespoon.I just scoop out 2 heaping tablespoons for each of us and nuke it after the 1st night. You might get tired of it if you triple it.Good wishes for Bob and the Hospice meeting.

hahaha ANGIE I bet BECKY never knew that "BECKY'S CHILI BEANS" would become an international taste sensation.
YAYYYYYYYYYY on the longarm, CONNIE!! How weird about that dream that you had too (and honey I did a lot more than KISS Curt in the dream). Actually he was debating about cruising w/ Judy and I in September and let's say if I had to cruise w/ him tomorrow I'd be BLUSHING. And maybe MOANING! And the recipe is sent. If you don't get it I sent it to the wrong email. I feel like I have 3 emails for you and can't recall which one is current.
SUZE, Jannie (we went there for THX that time) has done EVERYTHING including 2 bariatric surgeries and she SWORE by Advocare. Yeah for about 2 months. Some people have gotten pretty sick on that and as you said, Jannie paid a FORTUNE.
BECKY you eat only 2 heaping TBS for your dinner? That wouldn't make a DENT. Is it your main course? 2 TBS? I could eat all 2 pounds and 2 cans of beans in ONE SITTING (OK slight exaggeration).
So apparently Bob was confused about today. He thought his mother was coming home and he'd see her, meet w/ the hospice people and that would be it.
Well first of all he and his sister did meet the hospice people at the house. CRAZILY enough the mother has been in a regular bed this whole time!!! So they had to move the queen sized bed out and will have a hospital bed delivered. WHAAAAAAT??? Why didn't SOMEONE figure out she needed a hospital bed before this? Not the mom, not the sister, not Bob, NOR the nurse who would come in a couple of times a week. I'm stymied. So she cannot come home until they get the bed delivered, hopefully tomorrow.
THEN when this was all done (bed ordered and old bed dismantled and moved), he then went to the convalescent home to see his mother where he's been for the past 3 hours.
What a cluster.
On the good side/ THE CHILI BEANS WERE GREAT!

Hey all. Hope everyone had a good day.
Terry, so sorry to hear of your cancelled surgery and gastritis. Hopefully you'll be feeling better soon and have your surgery and be able to visit your dad.
Angie, thanks for the update on the B & B. I thought you were just referring to the family being there and the house seeming like a B & B. Wasn't familiar with Loess Hills..very pretty.
I also goggled Nikolaj Coster-Waldau. Wasn't familiar with him. Nice looking man.
Connie, glad the Longarm is working and hopefully continues to work.
Celeste, did you get to the pool? I think the heat has fried your head and causing all these dreams! Maybe the gas from the beans!!
Becky, take care of that foot. Let in rest and heal.
Okay, waving to all. Happy Wednesday.

Celeste This isn't your ordinary tbsp.It isn't a measured tbsp. It's got a long handle like a serving piece.I think we got it for a gift or something. It is a heaping 2 tbsp.It probably fills up 1/2 of a small paper bowl.We use paper plates and bowls b/c we don't have a dishwasher and Scooter usually does our pre-wash.I believe your exaggeration is more than slight.LOL. The skillet we use wouldn't hold more than 2 lbs ground beef plus the 2 cans of beans and 2 cans of tomato sauce.I had to limit the chili beans tonight b/c Kenneth wanted to be able to have another serving each tomorrow night. You mean you still had chili beans leftover from last night or did you already make some more??? I want to figure out something else for the next meat.It seems like we either have pork chops or chili beans.I like pork tenderloin but I can't use the oven and I don't care for pulled pork when we do it the slow cooker. It does seem like someone would have figured out all of that before Bob's mom could come home.
I can't take full credit for the chili beans. They were my mom's invention and she named them chili beans. It was just the first meal I made for Kenneth when we were first dating.I think that was the only time I cooked for him when we were dating.
Would anyone care to do a workout for me today since I can't do one.I have gotten more steps than I thought I would have.I guess walking and grocery shopping in the bigger HEB today gave me more but I don't know that I will walk behind the cart at least for the next week in the grocery stores.I may use the riding cart.I hate to do it but my foot hurts even in the post op shoe.I think it still needs adjusted more.I'm not sleeping in it tonight though.

Need to go pack. Yes, I can sleep as long as no one bothers me. DH is in the room now with the tv up. As soon as I get comfy, he'll scoot right up on me and raise his shirt waiting to get a back scratch. And like a damn dog, I do it. Yes, he's had me trained for many years.
Terry, my goodness. Yes, this is way more than you want right now. My FIL had COPD, so I get what you're going through with that. Praying for you to feel better so you can travel.
Poor Bob! Yeah, you'd think someone would have figured out the bed thing before trying to get her home. That's one more thing for her to complain to Bob about.
Took Autumn to the mall. She walked around with her bf & another boy. I stayed and got some shoes and a couple things from Macy's. Had a coupon! Stayed out longer than planned, so now I'm a bit behind on packing. Won't take me long. So, DH's mom had to have a chest x-ray. They thought she had pneumonia. Fortunately, not! But...a possible upper respiratory infection, so they gave her some meds. We'll see how it plays out over the next few days. I'm thinking it's just a cold and they're over reacting. She had a new roommate who had family come in and stay for almost a week. Since she refuses to leave her room, they brought something in. DH agrees with my non-medical diagnosis.
Waves to all. Hope you've had a great day. Need to get moving.

Becky, stay off that foot. It'll be longer than 3 weeks if you don't let it heal.
Ok, now I'm gone....night all
