JT I DID get to the pool!!! Also instead of 30 min of jogging, I did 45 min. I realized that I probably wouldn't make it on Thursday due to social commitments (aka lunch w/ the ladies), so I figured I'd get in some extra today. I may try to do that tomorrow too. THe water was WONDERFUL b/c we had a bit of rain the past 2 nights so it helped cool down the pool. There's no shade over the water so it heats up SO quickly. But I ALMOST enjoyed it. I read while I jogged and clipped my FB to my bathing suit so I got at least some of my steps measured.
hahaha JT @ the gas from the beans.... now that you mention it!! bwaaaahaaaahaaaaa Hope your wrist is doing well. Also DH is feeling well.
BECKY I had plenty left over b/c I did use the 2 lbs of beef. SO we had it again tonight. Now there's just a little left. I may send it to work w/ Bob in a day or so. I'm w/ you. I don't like pork tenderloin in the crock pot that well. I do want to do a tenderloin in the oven w/ some potatoes later this week I guess. I think I have one in the freezer. ANd daaaahling, taking it easy on your foot for a while in the long run will enable you to get back to normal and let it heal all the way. Patience mon amie!! And I have to say... they'll always be BECKY'S CHILI BEANS to me!
STEPHHHHHHHHHH WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATTTTTTT?? I hope YOU get a back scratch as well!! Girl that's why I'll NEVER remarry. Husbands are too high maintenance hahaha
SANDY good luck to y'all on that RA appointment.
SUZE the recipe is crazy easy. Sometimes easy comfort food is the best!!
I'm ready for bed. I got my iphone activated so that was a win today. TOmorrow I need to run to the grocery store. I need lettuce and mangoes.
ALERT ALERT... mangoes are currently OUT OF THIS WORLD GOOD!! Me who doesn't like fruit!! So good w/ a little chili con limon!
Off to read in a few. Night all.

Thought I would get back here sometime today, but at about 2:30 p.m. we decided to be leisurely retired folks & go out & enjoy the pool 😎 A perfect day for it....almost 90, sunny, very slight breeze, & the water was warmer, too. Floated on our rafts, enjoyed cold beverages, read, dozed off, chatted & daydreamed. Finally came inside for gourmet leftovers. My kind of afternoon 😊
Headed to bed... 💤

Good morning all. I went to bed fairly early again last night. I didn't get out of bed till 8:30. Was awake for about an hour around 4am, but stayed in bed.
Goal for today is to finish customer quilt and pin on the next one. I could have gotten a lot more done on it yesterday if I had pushed myself, but I just didn't want to. I was happy just to have the machine working and didn't want to press my luck. I skipped the quilt guild meeting.
Made white chili for DH for supper. I had eaten leftover Chinese during the late afternoon and wasn't hungry. Did have some granola and some fresh pineapple before bed as a snack.
Will call my mom and dad back and chat a bit before I go up to quilt. Also want to text my friend, Diane, to see if she is free for lunch tomorrow or Friday. Ok, need to get moving before I sit on this couch and go back to sleep!

ANGIE your "retiree's afternoon" is the stuff that working people's dreams are made of.
CONNIE I support your decision not to push things on the longarm! WHen I have issues say with my car or computer and it finally gets fixed, it takes me a while to have confidence that it's REALLY fixed.
My plan today: Go grocery shopping and then to the pool.
Since Bob took half of yesterday off for the hospice discussion he was way behind today. ALso he takes half day off tomorrow for another Keytruda treatment. THe guy that covers for him (and vice versa) is pissed b/c Bob is taking off 2 half days. As IF he's doing it for fun. THis guy is called ODAM EDDIE by his coworkers b/c at LEAST O.ne D.ay A M.onth (usually 2 or 3) he takes off a Friday or Monday mostly b/c he's hung over. But he got pissed at Bob and took today off. So not only is Bob playing catch up, and trying to mitigate tomorrow's half day, he has to do Eddie's work too. Heck last month ODAM EDDIE took off a full WEEK b/c his godmother (whom he hadn't seen in 3 years) died. Everyone laughs that he has so many dying relatives! And non-relatives.
Looks like Bob's going to be home very late again. He called to let me know and apologize for getting home late a 2nd time this week. Like DUDE it's not YOUR FAULT! Shame on him for having a mother w/ failing health and for having cancer. He's so inconsiderate!

Connie...hope the machine is still stitching merrily along.
Celeste....What a gem of a coworker Bob has! Lol on his earned nickname! How has Bob been doing with the keytruda? And have they said how many total treatments he will need? His plate is full to overflowing right now.
This is backtracking....but an update from the earlier part of the week. On Saturday, we had a great time with the 3 & 6 yr old grandsons.DD & hubby attended a wedding 140 miles north of us, but on their way, they made an additional 150 round trip to see DH’s dad. They stayed overnight in the town where the wedding was held. We met them on Sunday about 75 miles north of here (so they wouldn’t have to backtrack) to have lunch & send them home. We then continued on to DH’s hometown to see his dad.
About a month ago, Dad had pneumonia...hospitalized 2 nights. He has just had a time getting over this. Plus, he has a pacemaker & most likely some congestive heart failure. He still lives alone in an apartment. We talked on the way up that he is in dire need of some help....and when we saw him it was even more apparent. He stood up to greet us & I thought he was going to fall over. He is weak and the smallest task cause him to be short of breath. I asked him if I could do a little cleaning for him....not that it was bad but it hadn’t been done since DH’s sister was there a month ago before all this started. He agreed without hesitation. Big clue that he is worn out!
While I was cleaning, Rick approached the topic of getting some help either to come in or perhaps go to an assisted living facility to his dad....and he was agreeable to it ....just not up to making the arrangements. He was even ready to sell his car!
So....the short version is that we toured and talked to nursing home/assisted living and home health care providers Sunday evening & on Monday. Rick’s brother & wife met with 2 home health companies yesterday & will get the order from the dr to get things in place ASAP. While we all feel that home health would be nice so that he could stay in his apartment, this morning when Rick called, he said he was just so tired and weak....the nursing home may end up being what’s best for him. We want him as safe & comfortable as possible.

UGH ANGIE I remember when your DFIL had pneumonia; and a younger healthier person takes plenty of time to "get over" it. I can attest to that personally. I really don't know his day to day activities but the fact that he even considered help or assisted living is VERY telling. Usually people are initially dragged there kicking and screaming. He sounds as if he doesn't want to ASK for help but does WANT help and is in no condition to do it himself. The thing about assisted living, if there's one that has everything he needs at a reasonable price, he may also be lonely at home?? And having people around and activities that he can do if he wants to, can be amazing to mental and physical health.
THey did a study of Leisure World in California, one of, if not THE first senior living developments. THey have WAY higher than average number of nonagenarians and even 100 year olders who are active and alert and involved. They credit the socialization aspects equal to the physical amenities like a theater or restaurant or gyms and pools.
Good luck. I'm glad he's not resistant but sorry that he, you, DH and family are faced with this.
I did shopping. I am just not sure about the pool. The pollen is so bad here that I've thrown up twice b/c I was coughing so uncontrollably. It's not the exercise that has me concerned, but rather the air quality. The pollen levels are high to very high for the long range. I've taken every medication I have available. But every deep breath sends me into a paroxysm of coughing (love that word... paroxysm).

Celeste We will have the last of the chili beans for dinner.I bought a sirloin steak at HEB today so that will be the next thing for a couple of nights.I am trying to let my foot rest.I haven't been back on the bike which is really hard b/c it's become a habit to get on it 3 times a day and I'm surprised but I really do miss it.We went to Walmart and HEB this morning and decided to use the riding cart at WM and I thought since I didn't need much at HEB I would just use the basket. My foot hurt more than I thought it would but I'm not trying to get in extra walking so it didn't even show up as active minutes on my Fitbit. That is so ridiculous about Bob's co-worker.I'm sure Bob rarely takes off.How many more treatments does Bob have?
Angie I'm glad you and Rick enjoyed the pool yesterday. Is Rick's dad out of breath from the pneumonia and his heart problems?I know when my sister-in-law first went to the doctor b/c she was always out of breath she found out it was lung cancer and she never smoked. She still sounds out of breath on the phone and that was well over 1 1/2 yrs ago.I would think the Dr would have found that when he had pneumonia though.I'm glad he agreed to live somewhere else.I hope it's not the nursing home but if that is the best place and he agrees to it maybe it is best.
Celeste Today is an ozone action day around Austin and I guess here and if you have thrown up twice maybe the pool with the heat is not a good idea. It's 98 here already and we had 100 yesterday.I hope you feel better soon.
They delivered the post op shoe I ordered from Amazon a little while ago and while I haven't walked in it much so far it feels more comfortable.Scooter is in the house b/c of the heat and she has been so inquisitive about my post op shoes. It's hard to put them on and secured with her around.

YEAH SUZE you're probably out in this heat felling trees and digging up trenches ... with your chain saw hooked to your belt. ME? I can't even do the pool. Too hot and I can't stop coughing. You "country gals" are a much heartier breed of animal.
BECKY I'm going to finish the chili beans today too. Maybe another mango and a small salad b/c I'm bad on my F&V again.
Bob is doing well w/ the keytruda. I keep asking "how much longer?" and he finally tried to pin the doctor down. The doc said as long as there are ANY visible lesions, he'll keep doing the keytruda. ANd that once there are zero visible lesions he will feel more confident that there are also no longer any cancer cells internally. THings are MUCH better but there are still some areas where the lesions have shrunken but not disappeared. So it will be several (many??) more treatments. THe doctor originally suggested 7 treatments minimum to 21 maximum. He's at about 9 or 10 now I think.
As far as Bob taking off, I bet MOST people going thru chemo/keytruda infusions take the ENTIRE day off. Bob leaves at lunch time... he doesn't even eat, just goes to the facility. Even when he had his radiation or his multiple surgeries for cancer he NEVER took the whole day off. ODAM EDDIE goes to baseball games and gets drunk (he admits to a 12 pack a night every night), and then takes the next day off b/c of a hangover!!! He's a little weasel. Bob never "works the system" and ODAM always does. And ODAM complains when ANYONE takes time off for either illness, bereavement or even scheduled vacation. Isn't that always the way. But he lives in the boss's back pocket so he's relatively untouchable.
OK BECKY what are post op shoes? Are these ortho shoes? A boot? When I googled it, they were soft things w/ velcro. I hope they do the trick.
Left overs and breathing Air conditioned air for me. I did my watering, trash cans and the store and other than that I haven't gone outside for a minute.

Finished the customer quilt. Yay! Am ready to pin on the next one.
Got my steps in. Was short on them yesterday. Have been eating lots of veggies. Supper tonight was a Greek salad and avocado toast. White chili at lunch, another salad at breakfast. (Weird, I know, but I love salad and could eat it for every meal.) Might have strawberries and pineapple later.

Celeste It really is a shame Bob can't take off when ODAM takes off for a hangover.I would be pi**ed.There wasn't really enough chili beans for both of us but Kenneth always has cornbread, onions, jalapenos before he even has his fruit, yogurt and dessert so I had a little more than he did.My NP had told me to get a post op shoe thinking I could get one at Wally. You have to order them there and wait a week to get them.So I ordered one from Amazon but decided the day after I went to see her to get one from a medical supply place in Bastrop. They seem to be sturdier than the one I got from Amazon. It's got a little harder sole but the top is soft and has velcro. The one I got in Bastrop has 2 buckles to fit it through but the other one just has the straps and doesn't seem sturdy enough to wear out of the house so I will probably wear that one at night. It's bound to be better than wearing my slippers to get up to go to the bathroom during the night.I was wondering why the side of my foot hurts so bad until I googled it again and that is where the metatarsal bone is connected to the little toe.I have a bruise that has moved from the little toe to the other toes but I also have a bruise in the middle on the bottom of my foot but I think that one is from the last 2 times I rode the bike before I found out it was broken.I need to find some kind of exercise to do on the char besides weights.I'm not getting 30 minutes a day on the chair that's for sure and it hurts to walk when I'm shopping for groceries so I guess I'll start using the riding cart whenever they have one.
Connie You are doing really good on your eating.I like salads with protein but no way am I having one for breakfast or for more than one meal for that matter.I have to have some kind of protein in my salad and it's usually chicken.I did put strawberries in the salad for lunch and they were so good and juicy.

Hey all. It's late for me to finally get on here. Hope everyone is well. Celeste, sorry you were "pollened" out today. It's better to forgo the pool and stay indoors if it's making you sick. Feel better....Sounds like Bob works with a real a$$! Hopefully he will be able to get caught up and have his treatment in peace. Thanks for asking about DH. Yes, he's feeling better. His allergies are bothering him, but all is good with the blood treatment. I had my PT eval today. Had all my measurements taken, had a warm compress/towel treatment and some exercises. I am to start weaning off the brace. I am to wear it to bed, driving, grocery shopping, in the yard and if I am going to be in a crowd. All to protect it. Supposed to do this until I see him next week. I'm okay with this and won't push it. I still have pain at the base of my thumb - nerve and arthritis. It will get better. My only restrictions are don't do it if it hurts and if lifting something and it hurts, it's too heavy. He even told me to try knitting again over the weekend.
Connie, sounds like you've been busy...enjoy your time off.
Becky, let that foot heal. You will be able to walk and ride your bike in no time. Believe me, I know how hard it is to sit still and have restrictions. Believe me, it's been a long 8 1/2 weeks.
Angie, enjoy those retiree moments.....I'm ready to join you...20 more months to go. Hopefully I can do it.
Okay, need to go to bed. Happy Thursday!!

CONNIE w/ your insane sleep and work schedule I'm thinking a salad for bkfst is no weirder than pancakes for dinner. BECKY since I'm not a southerner, I never thought of it but my GOSH cornbread would be so good w/ those BECKY'S WORLD FAMOUS CHILI BEANS!! And DANG that foot of yours. All that damage from a "mis-step". Just tell people you were skiing and lost your ski and broke your foot. JT, I could see how knitting would hurt. So be careful. I bet the warm towel treatment felt good. Bob feels that his reasons for taking off are between him and his boss (and maybe HR of course) and it's no one else's business that he has cancer. I get it 100% and would do the same thing. He thinks ODAM is angry b/c he knows Bob takes off 1/2 day every 3rd THursday and hasn't told him why. Now ODAM EDDIE would be out there "Oh I've got cancer. I need time off" and would be milking it for all it's worth. Bob is more private. He doesn't want any special treatment or sympathy. A month or so ago, Eddie was feeling sick at work and called 911 and missed 4 days of work b/c of excruciating stomach pain. IT WAS GAS. He's very heavy and drinks like a fish and he was out for 4 days for GAS!!! WHAT A TOOL!! And yayyyyyy on only 20 months. I remember kind of doing a countdown w/ ANgie the last year or two of her teaching. Soon we'll do one for YOU!! I need a shower. THen I'll hit the bed. Bob called on his way home and said he really wanted to go for Mexican food and a beer. So we did. I'll send the left overs that were going to be our dinner to work with him for lunch tomorrow. Good night all.

As soon as dr came into room today he knew dale was not any better
We discussed next steps of treatment
Steroid shot Continue methotrexate Start prednisone til cleared for new treatment
Retuxin- wants dale to have an infusion, another one 10 days later Then go 6 months
Retuxin is very $$$$$ They started paperwork to see if we could get price reduction n how much our supplement will play
We did discuss diet on way home and with dr
Dale has agreed to give it a try
I just hate to watch him take prednisone
Retuxin has lots of side effects
Dr will not try remicade or Humira because of dales prostrate cancer Unless dale would sign release
Good night ladies
