THIS IS THE MONDAY -THURSDAY THREAD
Anyone is welcome to join the SMART weight loss goals.
SPECIFIC MEASURABLE ACTIONABLE REALISTIC TIME LIMITED
You can pick as many or as few goals as you like. They can be daily, weekly or monthly. It's up to each individual. Keep us posted on how you're doing w/ the goals and how/if it's showing up on the scale!
AND if you aren't into goals... now or ever... no big deal. Friendship, accountability and support... they don't HAVE to have goals.
Lastly if you have goals that aren't related to weight loss, that works too. Like "making me time"

So Monday's SMART GOALS:
30 min of pool jogging.
ALso NO S. I've been struggling on and off again w/ night time snacking so I have to plan things better.
Lastly 5 F&V. I've been really lax on my F&V instead filling the plate w/ more fattening things and refined carbs. Pasta, bread etc. I CAN do better.
SO with that I bid thee farewell for the night.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DALE! 🎈🎂🎉
SANDY- Be careful driving and have fun with the girls at 🏀.
CELESTE- My dad didn't have a very good mom, but when she died is the only time I ever saw him cry. As he said, no matter how bad they were at it, you only get one mom. I really think some of the tears were for "what might have been" if she hadn't had a mental illness (undiagnosed bipolar). I imagine Bob will have mixed feelings as well. One thing that I'm sure was comforting to my dad was that he made sure he took care of her as best he could during her final years. Heaven knows she didn't look after him that well when he was little. Getting hospice in there may give Bob the same peace of mind.
I will be glad to have the new fridge, but I'm not really excited about it. More peeved that I needed to buy it in the first place. And peeved that the "extra" paycheck for May was spent paying for it. Don't get me wrong, I'm thankful that the "extra" money was available when the need arose, but it would have been nice to have a bit of splurge money. Ain't that always the way?

CELESTE thanks for starting us up. Cute on the thermometer. No S - I’ve been struggling the past couple weeks and slipping and sliding. I CAN and WILL do better starting today. I do like the plan, and need to concentrate on more veggies on my plate. My goal is to make NoS a habit. I’m glad that Bob and his sister are on the same page at this point. It’s so hard if they disagree and the most important thing no matter what is her comfort, although I know it can be difficult to keep that in mind when facing loss.
SANDY have a good trip!
CONNIE we were talking about appliances at work this morning, and how at one time could buy a refrigerator and it last for 25 years. The same with water heaters... my parent's had well water and 7 kids and NEVER replaced a water heater at the rate that we do now. My insurance lady told me that insurance companies now want to know that a water heater has been replaced within a 6-7 range. I had to fill out and sign a "home renovation form" to that effect.
Not much on my plate today (get it – much on my plate…ha ha) Stuffed pepper for lunch and it’s calling my name. I definitely plan to do some things outside this evening since it’s overcast and cool out. It’s been thundering and dark, but I think that threat has passed without amounting to much. So is that gym and then work outside? When I work like I did this weekend, I count that as exercise time. But today? hmmmmmm
Enjoy the day.
No Sweets, Snacks or Seconds 10K steps x 7 days 12 flights x 5 days Exercise 180 min/week

haha SANDY. HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHARMING HUSBAND.
CONNIE Bob is a real softie. I kid him that he cries at Hallmark cards (he almost does). SO I know he'll be blubbering when his mom passes. And I DO think what you said about the "might have been" will be part of it. WHen my mom died, though I didn't cry, I did think..."What if." And yeah if your fridge was old school 15 years old, I can see being thrilled but to replace "Like w/ Like" almost, that's not so exciting when you shell out a bunch of $$. And USUALLY fridges last for 10+ years. I guess the more bells and whistles they get, the more likely something's gonna go Kaplooey.
SUZE I'm having snack issues again. Certainly better than it used to be but I have a long way to go. And I'm way short on my F&V. I don't even have a good plan as to fixing that. I AM allowing myself a plate/bowl of salad before Meal 2 and NOT counting it as seconds. I think that's part of the reason I've been short on veggies... I haven't been starting my meals w/ either a veggie rich soup or salad. And b/c of that I'm pretty sure I'm eating lots more calories. Having a salad before a meal IS NOT why I'm fat. It's portion control and SNACKING AT NIGHT.
I think BOB is going more for being informed and asking questions. However he will not 2nd guess his sister EVER no matter what her decisions. She's there day after day for the last 12 years. Long before the mom began her downhill slide, they lived together. Then she was there when the mom was abusing drugs and was a "care giver" in that she'd take her to the doctor, pick up meds, pick up fast food, etc. But now she's the main care giver. SOmething which Bob cannot and WOULD not do. So IMHO put up and shut up.
It's drizzling here (barely) and has drizzled on and off. THe temps are currently 74 and it's cloudy so I have to re-assess my goals for today. I'll shoot for 8K steps instead of the pool jogging.
I slept better. No dreams THANK GOODNESSSSSSSSSSSSS. I'm having tummy pains and not sure why since my fiber is doing what it needs to do. It's always something.
ANyway off to the bank and then I need a battery in my watch. It's a special battery and $65 to replace. THen they want to do an underwater pressure check (another $100!) I told them nothin' doin' on that underwater check. That's crazy talk.
Ciao kids.

Got home from work this morning and dove right into some house cleaning. I cleared/cleaned kitchen counters, loaded dishwasher, swept/mopped kitchen floor, vacuumed downstairs and wiped the leather on the couch. Tookout trash, cleaned litter box then decided I needed to nap. Slept 4 hours then got up and folded laundry. Now I'm waiting on the delivery guys to call. They are supposed to give you a 30 minute heads up. Will use that time to transfer stuff from fridge/freezer into coolers.
Wow, speak of the devil! They just called. Best get hoppin'

YAYYYYYYYYY on CONNIE's new refrigerator!
I got a LOT done. Bank. Store. Then I went to get that crazy expensive battery replaced on my watch. I turned the wrong way into a group of shops and kept circling the lot looking for the jeweler and realized what I'd done. SO I was about to cut across the street and I saw another small jeweler. I got the battery changed and while I waited I um...er.... was forced to buy some diamond earrings to replace some I'd lost a few years ago. THe bad news is I spent money I had no intention of spending. Good news is he threw in the battery for free! I'll def. be using that place again. Lovely stuff and low pressure (as in no pressure) sales. Probably helped that I went in looking like a motley mess (My hair is a hot mess b/c I thought I'd be in the pool so I didn't do it). THey reduced the cost of the earrings to just under half price (yeah so WHO in hell pays sticker price?)
It's only a heat index of 84 out there so not bad but I guess b/c of the weird weather my arthritis in both ankles is acting up. Not going to get in my 8K steps that's for sure. oh well.
I'm going to make Becky's Chili Beans for dinner (just a tweak w/ some green chile peppers and sauteed onions but otherwise just the same). BECKY CHECK YOUR EMAIL. I sent you a quick question.
I"m going to try to just walk my cul de sac but I'll have to find my orthotics first to see if that helps. If not I'll borrow Suze's.

Sure thing, CELESTE. Good deal on the earrings, and love that customer service! One day I'm buying myself a nice pair of diamond posts or earring jackets. Mine were stolen grrrrrrrr.
Can't wait to get home and do something...anything but work today! LOL

Hey all. Hope everyone is well. Thanks for the well wishes for DH. He does okay with his MS. Has good and bad days, but overall most people don't know he has it. He tolerates the blood treatment very well.
Cool and rainy here today - only about 60- actually chilly.
I did well yesterday with my goals and am doing well so far today. I have had my 3 F & V, I've walked my 20 minutes and have most of my water in, so I'll be good for today.
Connie, hope the frig arrived without any problem. Hopefully you now can get the Longarm working.
Okay, need to start some dinner. Check back later.

suzeg , I really need to get my right earlobe repaired but am too lazy. My hole on that side has gotten very big so it looks like a slit. I need a local anesthetic and quick plastic surgery but it won't be covered by any insurance so I've not bothered. If I ever get it, I'd like to get some nice solitaire posts. I'd definitely go back to this place. It's in a fancy group of shops but it's really low key. Like the guy who worked w/ me wore shorts and tennis shoes. Not at all pretentious.
JT from what I know (which isn't much), MS comes in various incarnations. Sometimes like w/ your DH you'd never know most of the time that the person had any issues. Others I've seen it progress so quickly... in months, w/ no remissions. Glad if DH has to have it, it's the kind that responds to treatment. If you get a chance can you have a couple F&V for me? Again I'm not doing well. Poor planning I guess. And thx for asking. Meridith and Chris are both doing well. I'm sorry they had to go through that scare for nothing. Oh well what doesn't kill us makes us stronger.
OK PEOPLE so I've been asking BECKY online and email, how to make her chili beans. I'd say it's not traditional chili nor traditional beans but a hybrid. So I made it and used her brand of beans and her spices and OH. MY. GOD!!! I've only taken a little taste but it is so good. SHe puts Chili con Limon, in her case TJ's chile with lime. Nice and tangy. SHe also uses some Mexican spice that I couldn't find so I bought Goya Adobo w/ Cilantro seasonings. I could eat this every day.
I need to go and water my planters. The little bit of rain we got didn't do enough. THen I'll have our chili beans and then off to bunco.

New fridge is installed. Freezer stuff is moved, letting fridge cool a bit more before transferring stuff. Ran out and picked up Chinese for supper. Only ate 1/2 and was stuffed

Was in mid-post and iPad keyboard locked up. Strange.
CELESTE- great score on the earrings. Glad Meredith and Chris are feeling better.
Need to call my mom and catch up. Let her know I was skipping quilt guild, but didn't get to chat because delivery drivers showed up. And can I just say how nice these guys were? They took 2 doors off the hinges, turned on/off the water supply to the fridge in the basement, chatted amiably, petted Shasta and assembled/cleaned up everything before they left. Very pleasant young men.
