Interesting thread. This morning I went to the grocery store. I knew I didn’t have that much to buy. Anyway I was walking to the car and had decided to carry everything, so I had my hands full. Anyway, I walk out the door and am immediately stopped by a group wanting to talk. Not with my hands full, thanks. He kept talking and I just kept walking. Not going to stop today, and I didn’t. Just a bit annoyed...

I was at the grocery store, waiting to check out. The customer in front of me had a large amount of food so it took awhile to scan everything and get it bagged. The customer had lots of coupons and the clerk had issues with some of them being valid. Okay, I'm fine, not a problem. The clerk finally got the final total but the customer still had questions about getting credit for sales, buy 1 get 1 free coupons, etc. Finally done. Waiting for the customer to pay. Oh yes, NOW the customer searches for the wallet, checks it for cash and realizes there isn't enough cash. Ok, can I write a check? Sure, now to look for a pen, what is today's date, what's the total again, blah, blah, blah. I was ready to throw my cauliflower at him! OOPS, I let it slip that the customer was a man. No offense to zazzles or any other men, but I see this often with the male gender. Why is that? Most women I observe get their check ready or the wallet out, or even their credit card in and ready to go. Some of our stores used to have a sign that mentioned getting your method of payment ready before starting to check out. Some days it doesn't bother me but that wasn't today. I wanted him to check out and leave! Sorry for the rant....I feel better! LOL, Linda. I haven't experienced that. But probably because: a) I don't often see men shopping for groceries here; either their spouse/partner does it or they eat out; and, b) most people use the self-checkout whether they want to or not because the ONE clerk that's available for full-service checkout usually has a long line of people (usually like the one you mentioned). What I see a lot of is this (and don't take offense because it is true): get into (one of the few remaining) express checkout lines. mature to elderly woman in front has as the max items, checks out, and it comes time for payment. Bill is $13.96. And they just MUST take out their buried coin purse and spend 10 minutes finding exactly 96 cents. And I'm screaming inside my head: WHAT PART OF EXPRESS DON'T YOU UNDERSTAND!!!!! I swear that the first company to open a delivery-only grocery store that guarantees quality fresh produce and meat and in-stock status of staples no matter what cuisine you're cooking will be come my EXCLUSIVE grocery provider! It will be to groceries what Amazon has been to every other business (except, of course, that so far Amazon's foray into groceries with their on-line and Whole Foods businesses is a failure IMHO).

I have to stop buying clothes/shoes online. Too much hassle returning things that don't fit. Alias, you should be interested in the new fashion thing that Amazon has started. You pick out, I think, up to 4 complete outfits and they ship them to you in a reusable container. You try everything on, decide what, if anything, you want to keep, return the rest in the pre-paid container, and they charge your credit card for just what you decided to keep.
My annoyance today, a small one, was dealing with a credit card company who needed to verify my identity. Two times with two different reps. Both told me they had to send a verification code to my cell phone and have me give it to them in order to verify I am who I am. Then they asked me for my cell phone number. HULLO...if I was a scammer I'd be using a generic smart phone on one of those plans where I don't have to give up my identification. So what did THAT prove??? alias123, my best restaurant story: A Sunday morning at Baker's Square. I walk in, get seated, and the water almost literally turns in a circle and says, "May I take your order." I tell the waiter I need to study the menu. He goes away. And never returns. I'm the only customer in the restaurant. I had just gotten the very 1st iPhone when it came out. I see another worker stocking pies in the display cases. So I whip out the phone, search for restaurants in the area, find the listing for the restaurant, click on the phone number in the listing, and their phone starts ringing. The phone is answered by the pie-stocker. "Baker's Square, may I help you?" Me: "Yes, I'm sitting here over by the window and I'm waiting to order; the waiter went away 20 minutes ago and hasn't been back since."
So she goes and yells at the waiter. He comes and takes my order and gives me attitude for the rest of my visit. At the cash register I pay by credit card and do not give him a tip. I realize after walking out that he kept the printed receipt which had the customer survey information on it—I'm sure he knew I would go online and complain.
Well Baker's Square ceased business anywhere around here shortly after that. I like to think it was that waiter's attitude that sank their business!

I heard about this. I don't know that I would try it. Returning is a pain for me as I don't have a printer. Actually, I have one but my laptop know longer wishes to recognize it. So I have to go to the library to print out return labels.

you should be able to email the seller (if a third party seller) or amazon customer service if through amazon directly. Update. I went online and saw that you can open up a "chat" with an Amazon rep. I briefly explained my issue and gave the item #. The rep told me to wait one minute while they checked. She came back and said she took care of it. A few hours later I see my account was credited for the return. So even though this thread is about being annoyed, I have to say this was super easy to rectify and terrific customer service.

Amazon has amazing customer service (as long as it's "fulfilled by amazon" and not a 3rd party seller). I've had things show up broken, seals broken on food items, not the size/shape I ordered, etc and they make it right. I think I had to return 1 thing of the many I've ever complained to them about, everything else was either credited or replaced ASAP without me returning a thing.
You know who else has service like that? Walmart.com (not in store but the site). I ordered a big 8 cup pyrex measuring cup and it arrived chipped, they sent me a new one and said toss the chipped one. The new one was also chipped, and they did the same thing. The 3rd was fine.

I'm happy to say that yesterday was a pretty low annoyance day for me. The only thing I remember was getting angry about some political-related issues, though in the recent year plus that is almost an every day thing. Otherwise, no car or service provider annoyed me, and I was able to easily find what I needed. Everyone was nice or at least not annoying.

God, that grocery store story is making me hyperventilate just reading it. People who are not ready to go with their coupons, payment, whatever make me stabby - get your shit together people! I could write 10 pages on the things that irritate me at the grocery store (although weirdly I enjoy grocery shopping overall which doesn't make much sense). Nothing about my day really annoyed me yesterday but I am going shopping this morning so I am sure I will have something irritating to report. I swear that the first company to open a delivery-only grocery store that guarantees quality fresh produce and meat and in-stock status of staples no matter what cuisine you're cooking will be come my EXCLUSIVE grocery provider! Mike, do none of the chains around you have delivery or are you just not satisfied with it? Several people that I know (and who are pretty picky about their produce and meat) use and like Kroger's curbside service. Which isn't delivery, you still have to pick it up, but you don't have to go in the store at least.

Which isn't delivery, you still have to pick it up, but you don't have to go in the store at least. WC, the state of grocery stores in my are is horrible. They cram so many "house brand" products on the shelves that it limits the space available for many products they used to carry. Hence, make a shopping list of perfectly normal, typical, everyday ingredients you need to make a recipe or three, go to the store, and you're almost guaranteed that key ingredients will either be out of stock or just not carried. Then you have to go to a 2nd store to look for the missing ingredients. And sometime a 3rd, 4th, etc. I've gone out with a week's shopping list early on a Sunday morning and ended up spending 3 or 4 hours and visiting 5 grocery stores to fill the list. The stores that offer delivery or order & pick-up around here are Walmart, Safeway and Whole Paycheck. WM and Safeway too often send produce beyond the peak of ripeness or not at all ripe, and meats you wouldn't look at twice if you were in the store. And if they are out of items, you get the order minus those items and have to run to a store anyway. Hence the concept of a well-managed internet-only delivery service with huge inventory insuring that they have the ingredients to make American, Italian, Indian, Asian, Mexican and any other type of cuisine you might be planning to prepare. Some day the grocery-shopping revolution will come.

Then you have to go to a 2nd store to look for the missing ingredients zazzles, exactly! I keep a list on my refrigerator for needed items. On that list, I will write the different stores I visit because not one store carries everything I want. And, I'm very tired of most house brands dominating the shelves. Years ago I noticed my H-E-B's house brand pickles were processed in India. I asked the manager about it and he said the cucumbers were grown in the US, shipped and then processed in India and then shipped back. I told him I wouldn't buy those pickles. I recently checked the labels in the store and they no longer mention anything about India so I'm not sure where they are processed.

Speaking of grocery stores, the Trader Joe's near my gym has excellent customer service. This particular store is crazy busy. People go through the store like locust, so they are constantly restocking the shelves. Ask any clerk on the floor to check to see if they have an item in stock in the back and they go and check without an attitude.
Just yesterday I was at the checkout and after the clerk rang up everything I noticed she left an item in the basket. She apologized and put it in my bag without ringing it up. It was only a 99 cent item but I still thought that was nice. Another time when I got home I realized the clerk forgot to put the maple syrup in my bag. When I called they said the clerk had realized his error after I left and next time I am there just pick a syrup up and tell the check out clerk. I did and without any hassle or question they put it in my grocery bag.
I guess I like that they treat the customer with respect.

Mr. Lani is incapable of opening the garbage liners all the way. The only way to get them properly open is to snap them like sheet. He puts it in the container and punches it down. Doesn't work. You did say Little annoyances.

I told him I wouldn't buy those pickles. I recently checked the labels in the store and they no longer mention anything about India so I'm not sure where they are processed. And what lesson did they learn? Not to give consumers too much information on the labels. Probably didn't change where the pickles are processed, just don't state it publicly now. I guess I like that they treat the customer with respect. Yes, TJs has excellent service. Around here all of TJs stores are small compared to the constant stream of customers, so they are constantly stocking. They probably figured out that employing people to stock constantly is cheaper than renting huge store spaces and stocking once a day. Plus it employs more people and you never have to look too hard for an employee when you have a question.
