Joan, that sounds really good. I made tacos filled with roasted sweet potatoes, onion and avocado topped with crema along with cheese and tomatoes. They were supposed to send black beans, but put a bell pepper in instead. So I just sauteed those with the onion.
I’m not a vegetarian, but the vegetarian meals seem to come with better recipes.

The mixing of veggies is amazingly tasty—when being an omnivore I so often made “a” veggie with the meal along with a salad or a potato or grain—now it’s a total mix—-the flavors compliment each other. Today’s avocado toast with purple sweet potato chunks is an example—even better with a bit of arugula or a slow roasted tomato as well which I am out of.
Just walked 2.7 miles to coffee and back—instead of pilates today—I may do this on Thursdays from now on as it is cooler now and the early morning walking is pretty chilly—need to do it anyway several days but today is my first longer walk since the back issues—need to go stretch my calves and ham strings now!
I’’lll have to try making a veggie taco like that!

Hey, is everyone cruising? LOL
Went back to body sculpt today and it felt so good to really workout harder—-the best class but also the one I have to pull back from if I am hurting because it is the hardest.
Busy weekend with birthday for BF’s DH last night—75 years. It was nice—had worried about it but the group was good and the weather was absolutely perfect for eating and chatting outside. Lovely evening.
I took three other women to the March to the Polls for early voting on Saturday-==speeches before the march were really excellent and almost all quite young and very competent women. Was impressive!
Jordan got his election booklet and is now excited about voting and told me that two of his friends told him to tell me they registered because of my chat with them at the birthday party two weeks ago!! Yay!
I am making halibut tacos tonight and hoping that I can eat halibut and not have an issue with the taste or texture—it would be nice to have two easy protein meals I could turn to. Making a baked potato and beets with it.

Hi! We're in Honolulu today, walked alot in town. I've been going to the gym almost every day and doing 6 mi walk. Of course, been eating breakfast, light bites for lunch, some afternoon tea and then dinner! Meeting many interesting people, oh! also some people from past cruises. There was one server who started her first day with us last cruise was here for the past week, but then left today - was so nice to see her and we requested to be seated in her area all week. Feel like she was a daughter, lol.
Am reading posts when I can, have some free ship wifi otherwise when not on verizon or skyroamn as Joan's friend has recommended. I'll be testing out sky roam in fiji

Hi, Sue—yay—you made it to your first stop!! Does SO usually walk that much at home? If not, the cruise might be really great way to get started! So nice to reconnect with people you liked on other cruises—your server probably feels really good having someone appreciate her that way!
Got up at 6 to a phone call—a purse call from a friend—she was embarrassed—so I crawled out of bed and walked to coffee—so got my 2.5 mi in this morning. Will do pilates this morning at the gym. Hoping to meet up with my Vietnamese friend to go over the voting booklet as we are voting on some state amendments that are very confusing IF you read English well so since today is his only day off we will try to connect.
Also have to go redo the dental impression—ugh, something went wrong. Hope it is not the grueling session I endured last time!
Last night’s halibut tacos went okay—I actually enjoyed mine and the halibut texture was fine—I think it is a denser meat than salmon and maybe that is why—also wrapped up in a warmed up whole wheat tortilla with a cumin spiced slaw made it a good way to get some fish in me. Since I have about 7 more packages of it, I will make that occasionally for a high protein meal. rather excited that I still like it!

Hi all,
Sue, how long are you in Hawaii? My brother just went there and loved it.
Joan, ugh, dental stuff is so annoying.
Jo Anne, feels like it went from summer to winter here. I am in a mad dash to knit stuff for holiday sales.
There is a conference coming up in Charleston. Looking forward to getting away from here for awhile. I’ve been to Charleston a couple of times, but not since high school.

Just back from my early walk—beautiful morning out there—63º and no wind.
Holly, I loved Charleston when we went there—love the old neighborhoods!
I would imagine Sue might be on her way to Fiji or somewhere next?? We should have gotten the itinerary and tracked her trip.
A former teacher of mine is coming by this afternoon to pick me up—we are going to see a movie she wants to see at 3 pm—something I rarely do in the middle of the week—her husband is no longer able to do the walking it takes—he is much older and has COPD. I’d not heard of this movie—Science Fair or something similar—should look it up I guess.
I am watching Atypical on Netflix and absolutely love the series! About an 18 year old who is autistic and his family dynamics around that. I personally think it is very well done—is funny and lite occasionally but serious as the story of what happens in the family — my yoga friend’s daughter is autistic and 33–lower functioning, though, but she has described family life in many of the same ways.

OMG, Science Fair, the movie—a documentary—-is just wonderful—everyone should see it!!
Walked at 6:30 the morning and met DD and DGS14 at the coffee shop before she took him to school. Found out DGS18 did not vote and did not even register—says he doesn’t care and the more people ask him the more he does not care. Hmm, maybe he will start caring if we end up in another world war and he gets drafted — it is amazing to me that such a bright young man could not care at all! Sad! Thank goodness DGS14 is not spending much time around his brother or his father!

Walked again this morning and DH joined me—no gym today as this is NV day—holiday for statehood. Bummer. Poached an egg and eating it over my harvest grains/veggie mix—with a slow roasted tomato-=-so yummy.
Weather here is spectacular—as always this time of year!

I cannot find the last posts I did. The weather has been great and we have been busy. Went to grand parents day at the school yesterday. It is a really big thing in this school. Those who don’t have grand parents can invite a special friend or relative. Each class presented patriotic Music, then we went to YHCe courtyard for games and pictures. Afterward we visited the classrooms and then had snacks on the playground set up with tables and chairs. We then went back to the auditorium for a short skit and more music. It was over at 12:30 and they were out for the rest of the day. DGD has been so excited about it!
Sat. We went to a pumpkin patch - lots of fun!
Tonight DDIL carved a pumpkin. It came out pretty well.
Went to a great farmers’ market last Saturday. Bought strawberries, raspberries, persimmons, squash, tomatoes, green beans, sea bass. We have already eaten it all. They have 2 grapefruit trees and one lemon tree- all producing well. We made lemonade over the weekend.
Sue- no . I Am still planning more renovations with time on the house. I don’t know if you ever finish with an older house Enjoy the cruise!
Joan - what a disappointment that your DGS is not finishing school. I felt the same about my DGD not going to college.

I think he is barely getting by. Says he is selling insurance but I think he had gone back to waiting tables. I wished he had at least gone to trade school. He seemed to think he could do ok without it.
DH is FINALLY making an attempt to cut back on food and trying toloose some wt. I think he has lost some - I can tell a difference in his stomach. He has tried to walk with me some but his tolerance is terrible- gets short of breath so quickly. I just feel he would feel so much better if his at was down.
Ds’s 42nd BD is today. He was my youngest- can’t believe!

JoAnne—my DGS18 is going to college—he is super bright—gets straight A’s in spite of skipping school at least once a week—got a 1500 out of 1600 on the SAT—you see that is the problem—learning is so easy for him he can manage even with pot smoking all the time—and he watched his dad succeed without giving up his addiction to alcohol so he has no motivation to go straight. I think you mistook my post about him—he is refusing to register to vote—doesn’t care about anything. Wants to take agriculture in college and grow marijuana for a living. He is a person who could be a completely successful scientist or engineer but his goal is simply to make money and continue his use. It seems like such a waste of a wonderful brain to me. But his dad’s side of the family always valued making money over anything else—his grandfather on that side has been a lifelong alcoholic who made a fortune with a small chain of grocery stores in Wyoming—they own four homes, race horses, collector corvettes—but they live a life of substance abuse—both grandparents are alcoholics.
DGS is turning 18 on the 4th—I have decided that there is nothing I can buy him—he won’t wear nice clothes anymore—buys oversized old holy stuff at Goodwill and looks like a bum all the time. He needs nothing—has money from his dad and no longer even works—he may be selling again for all I know. So I am baking things that he always liked when he was around us and am going to give him a big box of cookies and banana bread and write him a letter—have to keep loving the kid and hope that some day he looks at life from another viewpoint.

Got up sort of late—7:30 but walked to coffee and met DD and DGS14 and the dog—walked back together part way. Need to do laundry and bake some more and then at 1 pm I take Jordan and his 20 year old brother to the polls to vote. Their first time!
So sad about all the violence—and last night there were multiple shootings in Vegas again. 96 Americans a day die from shootings in America—I have a feeling that is way more than Afghanistan. That is a terrible statistic!

Joan I did misunderstand the post about your grandson. At least he is going to college. He may change intentions of what to do with it later. Where my DGS graduated National Honor Society with a full scholarship to a Colorado College and dId not use it. I am very disappointed and think he will later regret it.
Yes, the shootings are terrible!
We will be home Tuesday. I hope it is still fairly warm there. Will start getting ready for TG at our House. DS’s and their families will be there as well as 2 of my sisters and spouses and my youngest son’s inlaws.

The weather has been so nice here—it is our favorite time of year in so many ways. Just dread going off DST tho.
Oh gee, had the free pass and didn’t use it—yes, that is terribly disappointing. It’s hard to grow up for some kids—but I think our DGS will probably go to school and do well, sadly withlittle to no effort—he should be taking a rigorous course at a really good school but instead will take the easy road and therefore won’t have to change his lifestyle. Sometimes being smart can be a drawback.
I wonder what stopped your DGS—was it fear of failure or was something going on in his life that caused him to derail from the school route.
