Good evening,
Ruth, well you will finish that afghan sooner or later, sounds like no rush in getting it done. That is kind of nice in a way.... then you can pick up the project when you want a change from another project. Stay warm tonight!! Seems like yesterday you had temps in the 90โs. That is sad when all the plants freeze and it does not have the alive look of spring and summer.
CJ- I will have to check out the convergence quilt....never heard of that one! I would think that the simplicity of the quilt you just made should be its main attraction, Perhaps using a variegated thread to quilt it will add some interest, or a really unique quilt design. Glad you are finding some good viewing on TV. I am hoping to watch Last Man Standing on Friday night. I did not watch it before and its switched channels. A friend recommended it. I do not usually watch sit-coms.
When I complete this next row I am crochetting, I will start on the border. I love this afghan, but am tired of working on it and am ready to move on to some other project. Ok, I enjoy working but am tired of it. This am was a little too much- the weather was cold and rainy. The way it was explained to me, I will be working every morning for the next 2 weeks (except Mondays)- and that doing driver evaluations. They never let me do many evaluations when I was a full time driver, so I enjoy this. (They did not want to take me from my own route to do the evaluations). I have wanted this opportunity for years and am now finally getting the chance to do this. I figure that I will be working much less once the second week of October hits. Right now I am working more than I want to.
Hi to Meg and Phyl Ginny

hi, I did get the block done today. took along time. I think what threw me off was there are two variations of the block.
mary jo liked it. tarah liked it.
on the amish quilt how about a lighter grey or a pinkish, yelllow? most amish quilts I have seen are jewel colors or today's more modern fabrics. those quilts in the book might be from a really old amish order.phyl

Good morning! Phyl - think we all figured if you persevered you would be able to get this block figured out. Its nice affirmation of your work that both Mary Jo and Tarah liked the block! Now are you happy with it? Now that you have trudged your way through this block the next blocks ought to take less time. And should go easier. Sometimes we just have to wrap our heads around the directions until they make sense. How many more blocks do you have to make?
Well worked this am and am now just trying to get some housework done.
BBl to see who checks in Ginny

Good morning all. Ginny, I'm glad they have you doing something you really like doing. I'm sure you are great at doing driver evals.
Phyl, Yes I agree with Ginny, I knew you could do it. It seems as though whatever you set your mind to do you do it and do it well. Have you been doing anymore knitting lately?
It's another cool fall day here. I have on my sweatshirt. Actually it's a Halloween one. Not that I'm interested in Halloween but it was on clearance when I bought it and of course it has kept me warm throughout each year since I bought it. It's only for around the house
After I get all the birthday things made I want to make my friend a prayer shawl. I just thought of it now in fact. She doesn't need a real warm one because she lives in NC but it would be good for her to use when receiving chemo. Any suggestions on what kind of yarn I should use to make it really soft and comforting? I'd make her a chemo cap but most I think are very ugly and from pictures she's posted it looks as though she has some really nice headwear that she's using now that her hair is gone. So that will be my after birthday persent priority. In fact I should just start one to work on in my spare moments that I usually waste mindlessly playing games on the computer.Oh and besides the yarn suggestions if anyone has a great idea for a prayer shawl pattern that would be great too. Thanks

I spent time in the playpen today. got all the pieces marked for the fall wall hanging I want to take to sit and sew tuesday.
last night's guild there were some really beautiful quilts. amazing how these ladies come up with ideas and no pattern. me I have to have the pattern unless it is strips or squares.
ruth no I have not been knitting.I am going to give delona my two skeins of caron cakes.Haven't used it by now probably never will. still need to get hannah's scarf and hat done.phyl

My last message has flown away. Phyl it's good to see you and hear that you are so organized that you already have the items marked that you're going to take to sit and sew on Tuesday. I guess the square is not for sit and sew but for a class, right? I do hope it doesn't get cold enough very soon that Hannah has to use a hat and scarf but you never know. I think I've decided on the prayer shawl pattern and yarn I'm going to use. I'm using an Amazing Grace pattern called Angel's wings. It's a triangle shawl with "arms" that come around and provide a hug. Here's the link www.beatriceryandesigns.com/2018/08/27/amazing-grace-angel-wing-shawl-free-crochet-pattern/The pattern calls for #2 yarn but I'm going to use Mandala which is #3. I don't think it will make much difference. It supposedly is for breast cancer awareness but she has ovarian so I'm using a yarn with teal in it which is the ovarian cancer color. It will be nice and light...not too heavy for a person that is sick to have on their body but it will still provide a little warmth and be soft and comfy. If for some reason I decide not to do that one...because it might not be warm enough...I'm not sure....I will make the regular Amazing Grace prayer shawl. Mostly though it's to provide a reminder that I'm thinking of her and praying for her and that God hears prayers. Have a good night everyone. I'll be checking in later to see if anyone has dropped in.

Good morning,
Ruth, what a considerate idea that you make that lovely shawl for your friend! It appears to be a very airy shawl, so I think that using a slightly heavier yarn will be just fine. Mandala is such pretty yarn and super soft too!! I know you will get busy on this project soon to share the shawl with her.
Phyl- what wall hanging are you going to work on! You have a lot of projects going- sure keeps you busy. Yes, the creativity of others is amazing.Me too- I can only follow designs of others and would stink at making my own design quilt.
The baby is sleeping- so I have a short breather. WIll be at Ddโs tonight, she and DSIL have to work. Wonโt be home till almost 9.
Lovely fall weather here. What a change from yesterday! Hi To Meg and CJ Ginny

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today
Phyl - I'm glad you were able to go to your guild meeting and see the quilts members made. I used to love that part of the meeting when I was in a quild.
Ruth - That shawl pattern is pretty, and the teal yarn will be beautiful. I still want to make a shawl sometime. When I started crocheting again a few years ago I read up a lot on the prayer shawls, they are a wonderful gift to someone in need.
Ginny - I'm glad you have some nice weather. Hope you enjoy the time with the grandkids.
Meg - Hope the weather is cooler for you.
The weather here is cooler today after a heavy rain last night. Hopefully we'll keep it mild the next week.
I decided not to make the convergence quilt right now, I really need a certain design of fabric for it, so I'll wait. Since I'd cut out 4 pieces of fabric at 12 inches square, I'm just going to sash them and make them into a table runner. I figure someday I'll get around to using these pieces to practice my machine quilting
Here are links to the two most recent Merry and Bright quilt blocks by Pat Sloan. Block 8 is just from yesterday, so there aren't a lot of pictures yet. I think her quilt is very "busy" with all the fabric designs. I like quilts that are a bit calmer where you can see the quilt design. But I do like all the Christmas fabrics.

Good morning Ginny and all who come in later.
Ginny, it sounds like you're going to get a lot of grandchild time today and with all three in the evening.
I saw another shawl pattern that is pretty unique but it looks heavier. I think it could be made with a lighter yarn but I would probably have to make more rows to have it large enough and it's a little more complicated. What do you all think? Here is the link
file:///C:/Users/It'sme-/Downloads/Granny_has_wings_2.pdf
It's a cool day again today but nice and sunny. I was thinking of going to Walmart but changed my mind. We'll just go out tomorrow and take care of some shopping and a couple other errands.
I did get about 5 rows of the baby blanket done last night then I started thinking that I had mistakes so I quit while I was ahead. It doesn't pay to try to do those things when tired. This pattern is not hard but I keep skipping one of the stitches and I usually catch it right away but last night I kept thinking the mistake was in the previous row which would necessitate tearing some out thus the wait to see if it's true or not but I would think not since I ended up with the correct number of stitches
Have a lovely day everyone.

Thank you CJ. Yes I agree that all those different blocks in a quilt, even thougth the whole quilt is very Christmasy, is a very busy one. I would take my favorite one and make the while quilt with just one choice or maybe two, with some plain blocks here and there to break it up some. As you said, they Christmas fabrics are pretty.I'm glad to hear it's cooled down for you also.
Ok I went and looked at week 7 blocks. Some of those blocks are made from fabric that doesn't seem to go together well but a few are very nice. I forget the numbers I did like but I think one was #8. Now I'm going to look at the next week's blocks

hi, I looked at block 7. sorry I had to chuckle reminds me of a dog bone.
I do like block 8.can make alot of variations. all in the eye of the beholder.
I was in my play pen cutting fabric for the next fall wall hanging.was listening to the hearings. I can 't belivie they keep asking the same questions over and over and getting no where.
not trying to be political but wish some of those old---- would retire.
had my sleep clinic appointment today. percentage wise on using the cap machine I am good.I Was having alot of leakage.
erica thought maybe it was the mask.
so erica had the respority person fit me.yep when the place who fitted me last year fitted me with to big of a mask. so now I have a smaller one. maybe this will help me sleep better.
I did not like the gal who fitted me last year.this guy seems to know what he was doing and very knowledgeable.
have a good night. phyl

Phyl, I'm glad to hear that you were able to get the sleep apnea mask fitted properly. yes I bet you will sleep a lot better now.
Well I did some cooking and some crocheting and looking at patterns. I did start the Bible cover and I'm thinking of starting the prayer shawl and then I can work on one and when I get tired I can go to the other. Of course I also have my other crochet projects to pick up too and I still need to sew the lining for the purse and finish up the sea creatures which mostly entails embroidering facial features. Now that I did the giraffe's face and he came out looking really nice I do feel a LITTLE bit more confident doing that. His mouth came out especially nice
Ginny, I hope you get a good rest after taking care of small children all day.
CJ and Meg, hope you both get rested up too and don't have too much trouble getting to sleep. I've actually had quite a few nights lately where I've been able to get to sleep in a fairly resonable time. I do wake up a lot but am usually able to get back to sleep pretty easily.
See you all tomorrow.

Ruth, cj, phyl & Ginny,
Stayed home today. It is still hot. I didn't get a lot done. I worked on the b/blanket I am knitting and it is almost finished but I ran out of yarn this evening. I hate when that happens. I have to get ready for bed as I have an early start in the a.m. I have to go to get the shots in my eyes. I talked on the phone to my nephew in Belfast this morning and his son & wife are going to have a new baby next Monday. The mother is small and the baby is 7 lbs, so they are going to induce the labor. This will be a great, great nephew or niece for me. They also have a 2 year old.
Ruth, we could use some rain but will probably be a few weeks before we get any rain.
I need to go to bed. I keep making mistakes and have to go back and correct them.
sleep well.
