Phyl, that's what I actually bought all this fleece for then never got to it. I even made dh a pillow covering with two smaller "blankets" that were tied like that. I never can get the strips even though so I don't care much for them. I know that Marlene used to make similar blankets that weren't tied but went through a small cut she made somehow above the strip but I don't know how she did that. There might be a youtube for it. I'll have to look. Thanks.. Sorry you cut yor finger and I'm glad it's not like the one you had to have stitches for. That was one thing that the instructor in the quilt class I took really stressed what to NEVER pull your rotary cutter toward you. She mentioned that in the past she'd had a few people who she had to take to the ER because they'd cut their abdominal area with the cutter because they went ahead and did that even though she warned against it.
The flying geese instructions sound like good ones. As I said I have a device. Don't know if I'd remember how to use it or not but again, there's always youtube. I love the geese.

Ruth, keeping track of computer time is a challenge, and its easy to get too involved on boards or looking for projects. (I KNOW!!!!!). Perhaps its best to give yourself a budgeted time....sometimes that works. Did you end up purchasing that pattern this weekend?? Indeed it sounded like a good deal.
CJ- my family used to take Sunday rides too!! Of course where we went is all built up now, so a SUnday ride would be out of the question there now. 9 inches of rain sounds like a lot....but we did get a lot of rain. I figure you could probably check using a local news channel or the weather.com to see if your gauge is correct. COnsidering how much Florence dumped on the south, it might be an accurate number.
Quilt show was great! We attended a lecture on Historical Quilts of the Hudson Valley- saw many quilts made in the 1800’s and a few from this century. Both my friend and I had a great time, learned a lot. I won a door prize, which was a fat quarter of a fabric of my choice.
Gotta go check email.....is tomorrow really Monday? Ginny

Phyl- great idea on the no sew fleece blankets!!!! (Ruth, I am sure if you did not want the grand kids to have them they would donate well). Sorry about your finger....have you ever tried that newskin bandage? Its basically crazy glue for your skin, but seals the wound well, and keeps it clean through even water exposure. Hope you can figure out your flying geese dilemma.....perhaps you tube can help. G

I do know the rules about the cutter. I cringe when I see famous instructors or on the sewing shows and even friends cutting up the side, across the top and then down the other side with out picking the piece up and turning it, or having one othose turn tables,
yesterday I was going across the top and just got a little to close to the finger before I stopped.
the one with the stitches I was cutting a little to fast and the cutter jumped the ruler.oh yeah we learn from even the tiniest lessons.
ruth I don't think the strips have to be exactly even.I did look on you tube the one I did was like the one in the video diy no sew fleece blanket so cute.
she use a business card for her corners. then just cut strips.didn't look to me like they were the same space a part or even.
ginny congratulations on winning a fat quarter.
choney I looked for the no skin at walgreens and did not see it.the y had some clear wound type bandages, waterproof. didn't feel like spending 9 bucks. phyl

Ginny, I'm glad you had a good time at the quilt show and it sounds like it was a great learning experience also. And congratulations on winning the fat quarter. I don't win things often at all. I think I've won two things in my entire life. One was at a rock and gem show and I won a really pretty necklace made with an opal. My grandson now makes all those what they call wrapped gems. They aren't real gems I'm sure and either was the one I won but it was pretty. I've never worn it though.
Phyl, I'm definitely going to check some youtubes to see what kind of blankets I can make. One of the women in the quilt class series I went to brought in a fleece blanet she had made. I can't even explain now what it was like but it was really nice. It had little slits with a ribbon woven through and the way she had the sides sewn was really nice.
I did work on the cave some but didn't get far but did put a big dent into it so will work on it some more tomorrow.I did see that I have some really nice eyelet fabric so I'm thinking that I should make my 7 year old dgd a purse made with eyelet on top of another fabric that she can use for church on Easter so will have to put that on my list. I think that would work really nice and I have some nice magnetic closures I could use to she can close it. Maybe one for the 9 year old although she'll be 10 by then so maybe she would think it's too babyish but maybe not. I'll have to think about that one. I've had this fabric for probably 25 years at least but it still is fine..no dry rot or anything.

OK!!! I found a youtube showing the way Marlene makes them! Now I can use up my fleece and that will be out of the way. I may send some to the grandchildren but some are going to the mission.
