Happy Monday as we start off a new week. Please go back and read last nights thread, It was great this am to wake up and see that Meg, Phyl and Ruth visited here...I did have that fire last night but went to bed early as I have a cold.
Meg- glad you stopped in last night! When are cooler temps normal where you live? Still sounds like summer there to me, but then that must be normal to you. Surely a considerable bit warmer than Ireland for sure!!! Hope you can get those two afghans done....its always nice to move on to a new project.
Ruth- sure does stink that you had to rip out the ear of the giraffe!!Bet it was super frustrating to you also Totally agree, that working on cheery colors might actually boost a mood- whether fabric or yarn.
Phyl- Is this a quilt that the layout of the squares sets a true pattern?? Or perhaps you could change a portion of the squares (making new from different fabric) so that you like it better. Does stink getting so much work done and not being happy with how it is turning out. But I would try to put it together and see how it all goes. Perhaps when the border is on it will all come together.
Long day ahead G

I was glad to see that Meg stopped in and is doing ok. It is always good to see everyone.
Well one of the girls that gave birth to one of the babies I mentioned last week has ended up in the hospital with a rare complication..postpartum cardiomyopathy. It's a very serious thing and when she arrived at the hospital her o2 sat was only 60...should have been 100 in a young healthy person at sea level. She's the girlfriend of my neice's son and I think only about 19 years old. Usually when this does occur it's in older women. So prayers would be appreciated. I've never met her since they live in NC
And tadaaaaa, the giraffe is done and he's so cute. The woman did say he was 22 inches but I didn't realize just how large that it. he will be perfect for sitting on dgd's bed. Now onward down the list.

Wow !!! Ruth that 22 inch giraffe is quite some size! Bet DGD just loves this gift....yes I can see him sitting on her bed! You are such a thoughtful, creative and caring grandma. Absolutely will keep this your woman in prayer. I pray that she gets great medical care and that all steps taken reverse this condition if that is possible.
We took DGS and DGD#2 to a small zoo today. Great weather to be out and about. The kids were very well behaved. This cold is sort of beating me up- I feel better than yesterday but am drained right now. Gonna get in my pjâs and read.
Have a blessed night Ginny

hi, ruth prayers will be said for the mother.
well I gave up on the &*%$#block. hate flying geese and half square triangles. I was at my machine from 8.30 till (with break for lunch) till 2.30. only got one row done and that is not a good one.
was doing alot of ripping out and machine would act up at times. that block should have been done in a couple of hours.
I tried every way I know to get the geese and squares with corners to try and to come out.
so I emailed tarah and told her to find someone else to show their block.the block looked easy.maybe I was not in the mood.least I had it cut out yesetray and marked.
not much happening here. phyl

Thank you, Ginny. My db will be very appreciative that people are praying for his great grandaughter's mom's recovery.
The trip to the little zoo sounds like fun but I know you're worn out after all that walking. Getting into jammies and reading sounds like a good way to rest and recover.
Dh is already talking about another trip since we now have what we hope and what should be a really reliable car. I'm not all that interested but winter will be here soon and we'll be home. All this week it's to be only in 60's with 30's at night. I think one day is supposed to hit 70. So fall is truly here for now but usually October is pretty nice when the politically incorrect Indian summer comes although one year I went to visit my aunt in northeastern Wyoming and we had a blizzard that covered here also so I was stuck up there for a couple extra days. I am just thankful that I've never gotten stranded on the highway and hope that never happens. Dh and ds were hunting and almost got stranded in the middle of nowhere but thankfully they got home in time or they would probably have frozen to death.God has certainly been good to us over the years

Phyl, I must have missed your post earlier. Maybe it was posting at the same time I was typing. I'm sorry you've been having such a hard time with the flying geese and half triangles. When I went to the quilt calls she gave us a little device to make the geese and it worked great. Have you seen them? It's so frustrating to try things and have them not work the way you would like or the way they're supposed to be. Hugs And thanks for the prayers for my grandneice in law.

Hi to you all. another unexciting day here. I had to go to school and pick Devin up, he had a tummy ache. He is fine now. It wad hot this afternoon so we still have the A/C going. I did quite a lot of knitting last evening but had a restless night.
Ruth I can't believe that your night temps. are in the 30s. I do hope you enjoy your new car. I will keep your young friend in my prayers and hoe she recovers soon. The giraffe sounds like fun and I a, sure will be loved.
Ginny, I don't know when to expect cooler weather. Hopefully we will get rain in Oct and it should cool down soon I hope. The evenings and mornings are very nice.
Phyl, sorry you spent so much time on your sq and it did not turn out as you expected. Don't get discouraged.
cj, hope all is well with you. Are you baking up a storm? well not a storm just some goodies.
Now I am off to take a shower I feel sticky and itchy. In Nov. 3 years ago I had shingles and I still have the burning and itching. and that is one of the reasons I can't always sleep at night.
Sleep well.

Meg, it's good to see you. I have a friend who recently had shingles and I told her that you had your'squite awhile back and still have problems with the area where the shingles was. Poor Devin. I hope it wasn't something bad at school that made him upset. Ginny, I was wondering if you still have the pattern for the baby blanket in your online files. I clicked mine and it says "file not found". I can probably figure out what it is but would be easier with the actual pattern...then I wouldn't have to have my brain steaming because of thinking to hard I think maybe sc in one stitch, hdc in the next and keep alternating across..is that correct? And I do forget the beginning stitch of each row and the ending stitch.I was going to work on it tonight just to have something I don't really have to concentrate on.Can't imagine what happened to the file. I know you scanned it and sent it so it should be there. Often if you just bookmark a certain site you will get that message because the person has taken that info off their site but that's not the case here

Ginny, disregard the request for the pattern. I found the original copy you sent in my email so I downloaded again so I'll see if it stays this time. At least now if it disappears again I know where to find it. And I was wrong...it's sc, dc in next two stitches, repeat.Easy.

Good morning!
Ruth, glad you located that easy pattern....and its funny you mention it, but the designer did offer it free for awhile and took the pattern down once I realized I wanted that pattern. But I only paid 99 cents for it. Not too bad. Guess you are going to make another baby afghan ? Who for and what color?
Meg, so good to see you here. Its nice that your evenings are cooler, so if you want to go out you can. Rain would be welcome too, as long as its not too much. Hope Devin is feeling better...and hope that you are feeling great also.
Raining here. Going in to work this am...then babysitting in the afternoon. Got one more row done last nite on the baby afghan. G

Good morning all. Ginny, I said it was easy but I ended up making a lot of mistakes last night and ended up netting one new row done. I started this baby blanket about when you started yours and I now have a whole 4 rows done. It's antique white and it really is not for anyone right now so when it's done I'll add it to my collection of baby blankets to give to the grandchildren or since they end up nice and light I might send it to a group in the western part of the state which collects and gives out blankets. I forget what the group is called so I'd have to look that up. The group leader said they love crochet blankets. Since these are light in weight I could send a bunch of them. Just have to get busy and get working on them between my other projects. See I'm not organized...I'm scattered . but unless dh has other plans today will be the day to get the lining in the purse and start the Bible cover. I was wondering if you were going to be working today with your cold. Seems like you work almost as much now as before you "retired" . I think you like working. It did get down to 38 last night and tonight it forecast to be 31 so my poor little flowers may freeze.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Phyl - Sorry to hear about the frustration with the half square triangles and flying geese. I completely understand. I've gotten better with the half square triangles since I found a good ruler to square the up with. But I still have problems with flying geese blocks. Hopefully you can do a block another time. Meg - I hope you get some cooler weather soon. I'm sorry to hear you still have issues from Shingles even 3 years later! I wish I could do some baking, I'd just love to, but I'm really struggling with trying to lose some weight I've gained from last year. I'm hoping I'll get to do some baking later this year though, definitely around the holidays. Ginny - I'm glad your are getting some more work done on your afghan. I hope the rain isn't too bad, it must be all of that we've had here the last few days. Do you enjoy still driving the bus a few days a week or would your rather not do it at all anymore? I often thought I would have liked some part time work after I retired, but now that it's been so many years I'm used to staying home. Ruth - That would be nice if you were able to get in another trip before the bad weather starts. Those are some cold temps you are getting at night, hope your flowers survive. I finished piecing the other small Amish style quilt and it has to be the dullest quilt I've ever made! The colors are so dark and subdued. The colors are black, maroon, dark turquoise and dark gray. They are all solids, so it's just a very "blah" quilt. But I'm glad I made it and I look forward to hand quilting it one day. The pattern instructions in this book were very clear and easy to follow, so I might try these quilts again some day just in brighter colors. I think I might try the Convergence quilt next, since I'd been wanting to do that for awhile. I'm just going to do another test one using 2 colors of fabrics, instead of 4 fabrics like most of the quilts have. Then if I like the process I'll make one with 4 different fabrics. The weather here is a bit warmer and humid again. But it seems like we'll have some cooler weather later this week. I watched the new show "Manifest" last night and it seems interesting. I taped "The Good Doctor" since they came on at the same time. I liked this show last year and hope it's as good this year. Tonight there is a special starting on PBS about the history of The Mayo Clinic, which I think sounds interesting. Take care everyone!

CJ, can you add a white border then another border of one of the colors in the quilt. Maybe that would lighten it up some. As I said, I know nothing really about quilting but I'd probably try that to bring a pop into the quilt.
I haven't heard from any of the people that I heard yesterday were suffering various illnesses. I know the ones with cancer have no change in their conditions from yesterday but I'm wondering about the girl named Hayleigh and have sent my brother a message asking about her.

I checked with my brother and he said that Haleigh herself sent him a message that she is doing better and is off oxygen. She will be able to be transferred out of ICU to a regular room tomorrow if she stays stable and I think that she will. They just need to get all the meds to keep her heart beating strongly before sending her home. My neice and her son(the baby's dad) are taking care of the baby while Haleigh is in the hospital and of course my neice is probably doing most because her son will be visiting Haleigh as much as he can and when she gets to a regular room they can probably take the baby there to see her.
I don't know why I keep putting off things but I haven't gotten a bit of crafting done today except for looking at patterns online and I sure don't need more projects added to my list. I don't know why the last Bible cover was such a big deal to me because it all seems so simple now. I hope it works out this way while doing the new one.
I hope that all of you have had a good day so far and are having a good evening. I hope it doesn't rain too much where you are CJ and Ginny. Send some to Meg, they need it there.
