I was just thinking... even if he isn't confirmed, the damage to our democracy and our discourse is already done.

I was just thinking... even if he isn't confirmed, the damage to our democracy and our discourse is already done. Tremendous damage has been done ever since the JA was sworn in.
Linda, Marsha Blackburn is leading Phil Bredesen the Democrat now by 5 points here in TN since the JA came and held his pep rally. The Koch brothers have been funneling in a lot of money to the state for her. She's also been running a very dirty, nasty campaign. She started the ugliness, and while Bredesen has fought back with some of his own it's nothing compared to her. You can hardly turn on the TV without seeing some really hate filled ad from Marsha. It is just all so very discouraging.

Once they confirm Kavanaugh, at the very least he should come out with a public apology for the way he comported himself during the hearing. I'm sure it would be a false apology, but he should at least make the gesture. Wonder if he will? Most likely not. I think he showed us his true self during that hearing.

Never, ever, will he apologize for his behavior. It was only the Dems who criticized his behavior. JA & the Republicans all justified his obnoxiousness. Apologizing would be saying the Democrats were right that his behavior was "deplorable"...
I should turn the TV off today. Its just so darn depressing...but, I just can't. Sigh!
I wonder how unleaded JA will be at his MN rally tonight. He will go crazy with his vile comments about Dr. Ford....I will bet the house on it....
I think it might be a Cocoa/ Schnapps kind of day...its cold, windy & gloomy out & the news is depressing...May have to send DH on a Cinnamon Schnapps run...LOL

You're right that the JA is going to be over the top nasty tonight, and his base will just love it.

"Republican Sen. Susan Collins of Maine said Thursday that the FBI probe into allegations of sexual assault and inappropriate sexual behavior against Kavanaugh seems to be "very thorough" and said she would read the findings in full later in the day."
So she hasn't even read it yet, but somehow she knows it was "very thorough." Give me a break! At least be honest and say, "I really don't give a ____ what the truth is. He's conservative, and the JA and Mitch McConnell told me to vote for him so I will."

Well, Heiikamp is a NO. She said it was not politically motivated because if it was, since she is behind in the polls, she would vote yes. It was a matter of her conscience & being able to justify to herself how she voted. She was almost in tears in the clip I saw. Her opponent, Cramer is a real creep & the ads he has been running here in ND are just downright ugly. Using Hilary, Immigration, & all the other dog whistles he can to play to the Republicans in ND. He's going to win no matter which way Heidi votes. Just so depressing.
Seeing Grassley & the other bumbling old men on the podium a few minutes ago, was almost funny if it wasn't such a serious moment in time. Grassley lost it. I think he must have missed his afternoon nap because he just came across as cranky.

Good for Senator Heidkamp! The ugly ads you are describing running against her in ND sound like the same ugly ones Marsha Blackburn is running against Phil Bredesen here in TN. Trying to tie him to the Clintons, tie him as pro-illegal immigration while she will make sure the wall gets built, tie him even to the opioid crisis when even 60 Minutes ran a segment on her ties to pharmaceutical companies and her co-sponsorship of a bill which stripped the DEA of its ability to freeze suspicious shipments of opioids. She is the very definition of the word scum, but I'm expecting to see her become our next senator. She's stuck like velcro to the JA.

This photo/video could have so many captions. I could think of a few, but probably too inappropriate for a public forum...LOL www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/donald-trump-toilet-paper-shoe_us_5bb6c7f9e4b0876eda9cba1aKavanaugh's OP ED was bizarre. Once you ring a bell, its bit hard to un ring it. So, it didn't really persuade my way of thinking at all. The fact that he stated that his college friends were distorting his drinking in high school & college just told me, he is in denial about that time in his life. I mean, ALL these people that have come out lately are just wrong? . ALL of them!!!!... ?. I wonder who will have the courage today to say NO to Kavanaugh while voting. ?

Kavanaugh's op-ed statement really just makes things worse for him in my opinion. He continues to deny past behavior and really doesn't seem to have a grasp of how wrong to say nothing of unjudicial his outburst was at the hearing. Instead of making me feel better about him, it just underlined how much I think he does not belong on the court. I could have forgiven him for high school actions and even early college actions had he admitted that yes, he did drink too much. Yes, while he can't remember this happening, if he did it he truly regrets it. But instead he wants us to believe that all those people who knew him then and who confirmed how much he regularly drank are just making it up. Even when his own letters and even his calendars, etc from the time in question back up his heavy drinking he wants us to believe no it didn't happen. Everybody knows 17 year old boys do some really stupid things, and 17 year old boys who have been drinking heavily can go far beyond just stupid. The key is accepting that, not lying and continue trying to cover it up when you are an adult. He lied under oath! Yet, he wants us to make him a SC Justice. His absolute true self, I believe, was front and center during that hearing. He has a mean, vile, vicious temper. He is totally partisan, and I don't care how smart he is about the law he does not belong on the SC. Even retired Justice John Paul Stevens who was appointed by Richard Nixon has come out and said Kavanaugh should not be on the court. Yet, I will be very surprised if we don't see him sitting up there smirking next week. That will be a travesty that will haunt this country for many years to come. I can understand the Rs wanting a conservative judge, but there are plenty of those out there who have the temperament to be a judge. Yet, they are determined to force this man who is totally unsuited for the job into a lifetime position which will ultimately affect the life of every person in this country.
And the JA's mocking of Al Franken last night! And his criticism was not that Franken behaved inappropriately, but that Franken admitted what he had done and resigned his seat. For the JA there's nothing too wrong to do. The only thing he sees as being wrong is being honest and admitting you did it and especially to accept the consequences of your actions. Republicans, how can you stomach this? ?
