Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today It's raining again here, after a dry day yesterday. My weather gauge showed 8 inches so far for the month of November. But I'll take it over snow Hope the weather you are is nice. I guess everyone will start getting ready for Christmas now. I don't buy actual gifts anymore for family, I just give gift cards or money. The family members that have younger children all live away, so it's easier to send them a gift card. The family living close by are adults, so they just like cash I do want to get out soon and get the gift cards so I can get everything ready to be mailed early this year. I hate that pressure of waiting too late to mail the cards, so I'm hoping to do better this year. I have a big problem with procrastination I'll be watching the Holiday Baking Show tonight on the Food Network and hoping for some prettier desserts on this episode. Take care everyone!

I know what you mean, CJ. I"m a huge procrastinator. Have you ever bought gift cards online? They will mail them directly or mail them to you.I was going to buy dgd an Amazon gift card for her birthday but when I read the reviews I saw that a lot of people said that when they tried to use them they didn't work and couldn't get the problem straightened out with Amazon.
Dh was doing cyber Monday shopping. He bought himself two pairs of shoes and some things for the greatgrandchildren.
It was a pretty nice day here but now if starting to get dark and colder.I did work on another head band earlier and want to get all the little details done on them so I can send them and the Christmas tree ones this week when we go out.
And happy Monday to you too, Ginny. I hope you're having a good one. Yes with the table runner, the ornaments and then all the other things you have to do I can see where you wouldn't have time to make one of those dolls.Making the parts is easy but I really dislike sewing parts together and will do that when I get done finishing the things I have to mail.
I don't know when I'll put out the few Christmas decorations I plan to put out...they may not get put out at all.I actually had a little moment of thinking I would decorate a bit this year. Thankfully that passed. I don't mind decorating it's the putting the stuff away that's a pain.

When I arrived home this afternoon, I say down and fell asleep! I had a good night's sleep, too! Relaxation for a while! I'm gifting myself two days! My next appointment with the CPA is December 7.
After I feed the dogs, I will start making a single loop infinity scarf with the teal yarn I wound into a ball a few days ago. This is the only "gift" I am making! My hairdresser loves the one I made her several years ago, so this will be a different color for her. She wears it all the time in the winter in her shop which is located in an old house in town. It can be drafty at times. br]
I have many things that would be easy to put out for decorations, but I'm with you, Ruth. It's the putting away that's the problem!

Good evening!
CJ- its super considerate of you to get the gift cards for your family members- and it makes things much easier for everyone. That way you are not stuck runnning around to different stores...and your family can pick exactly what they like! Really hoping that your Holiday baking show is a good one tonight. Gee, how disappointing when a much loved TV show disappoints! And 8 inches is a lot of rain.....hope your basement stays dry.
Ruth,I once had an issue with a gift card on amazon and I must say, they were very reasonable helping me figure out the problem. But it took me a long time to get through and speak to a live human being. Yes winter is coming, and the days are shorter and colder. But we are only a few weeks away from the shortest day of the year- so even for those who suffer from SAD, well things change soon. Glad you have gotten so much done with the doll and the headband.
Sue, glad to hear that you are taking a few days to destress and rest up. How many more visits to the accountant do you think you might need? were you able to start work on the scarf for your hairdresser?
Babysitting went ok today. DGD has a cold, so I had to hold her for her second nap to keep her nose draining. (Ok so I spoiled her a bit, ha ha ha). Got to read through some of my new quilting book then, so it was a productive nap. She is a very sweet baby.
Got my squares done last night, all applique stitching and decorative stitching done. I really like the decorative stitching my machine did. Now just have to cut the fabric for the sashing and I am ready for Friday’s class.
Have a great evening Ginny

between 4 - 5.6. I told the nurse does he know how hard that is for 76 year old?
I have till may to do it before I see him.so back to counting the carbs, more exercise(not that I have been doing any) also being more aware of what I eat.
here I thought it would be call to say how good I have done. I know he is looking our for me. probably trying to keep me off of insulin. mmm wonder what my diabetic nurse will say. least I am doing better then alot of diabetics. phyl

Ginny, sorry that sweet baby has a cold. I hope your dd doesn't have to stay up all might and hold her as you had to do for the nap. For a nap it's ok because as you said, you can read while holding her but for all night it would be hard.
Phyl, well I think that you did a great job getting your A1c down but you know you can do better and I'm sure you will. Don't take what the doctor said as an insult or demeaning your efforts. You did a great job and you can go down even more. As you said he is just looking out for what's best. Personally I'm with you on the age thing. If you're below 7 I think it's great at our age.We do have to enjoy life and food is a big part of that
I started another earwarmer/headband. I have one more I want to make then I have to get busy and do the finishing touches like seams, buttons on those that requre them, etc.One also has a flower my dgd would like to have on it.( she did tell me that if the flower was too complicated I could leave it off)

Good afternoon all. I guess everyone is really busy with other things... I hope they are things you enjoy.
So far all I've done today is drag most everything in my craft cave out to the living room in order to make room to get that cabinet in. Of course I have to wait until dh feels better with less pain in his back, hip, and leg before he can help with carrying it up the stairs but in the meantime I've cleared a route into there. The room is off a small hallway so I needed to move things to make room to turn corners into the hall and the into the room itself. Plus I wanted to more some things around so that all the shelving and cabinets are in the best space for access.Who knows. I might, after I get this cabinet in, have room to put a table in there to do sewing and cutting on although at this time I don't even have such a table. I do have a card table I could use but it's not large enough for cutting. So I got a lot of exercise and will get more when I can start putting things back and into their new locations. Now for the rest of the day I will probably just work on these headband/earwarmers so that I can pack them up and take them to the post office.Does anyone know if you can just weigh your packages at home, put on the appropriate number of stamps and drop a package into the blue mailboxes? I know you used to be able to do that but now with all the security regulations I kind of think that you probably can no longer do that. I know you can weigh at home, print your own postage but then still have to take it to a post office to mail I think. But I can't do that part either since I don't have a functioning printer

Two more trips to the accountant, Ginny! December 7 and one that as yet unscheduled for January. I plan to do some other things in December. A few hours at a spa sound good to me! So does reading! So does crocheting! I think a few movies I choose would be good. Hb may have to leave the room, but there's another TV downstairs. I enjoy football, but that's not an acceptable option for him anymore. He'll still watch college football but never the pros.
I need to stock up on some things for the freezer. Tonight I still don't know what's for dinner. I'm running out of my basic supplies!

Ruth, there are limits on how large a package you can pre- postage pay for- check out USPS’s web site for that- or just try an internet search. Many times I have done that- where I bought my postage on ebay (at a discounted rate) for a text book we sold of Dd’s- and as long as it met the size requirements, it was just fine. For that matter, your mail carrier will also do the same thing. I am sure that a few crochetted items and some other small gifts and it would be fine. If I can find the dimmensions I will leave a link here. Sounds like quite a project getting that cabinet moved and your craft area reorganized. Hope it all works out well for you and that you can use your space better and more productively. (Do not look at my craft area which looks rather like a bomb hit it).
Sue, ok so only 2 more visits to the accountant. That is not so bad!!! hope you get a chance to stock up on basics....its that time of year when having a decent amount of shelf stable foods in the cupboard is a good idea. Agree, a few hours of pampering sounds amazing. Last year my Dd’s gave me a gift certificate for a spa that does facials. Have I ever used it? Nope! Anyway, a good movie or book works too....hope you can get some time in to recharge your batteries.
CJ- yes ma’am I did watch the Holiday Baking show! Thought it was pretty good- and then got inspired to watch the Christmas cookie show. Needless to say it was great watching both. Hope you enjoyed the baking show also.
Phyl- think that is awesome about your A1C. Just take it as a gentle nudge from your doctor to do your best..I do agree that its hard work getting your blood levels where they should be and you should be commended for that effort.
Hope Meg is doing fine!
Had DGD today- she is still a bit stuffy and VERY cuddly. I got her to sleep in the crib for her longer nap- her second nap, she fell asleep in my arms. I well remember when her mother was an infant, and she had a bad ear infection. I propped myself up with tons of pillows on my rocking chair and put my feet on an ottoman- inessence made myself into a recliner. I slept that way for 2 nights with DD, her little head on my chest. Spending the past two days with DGD#2 reminded me of that time. DGD #2 is a bit easier going than her mom was, however....i figure she is getting a tooth-plus she has a cold.
Worked this morning too....oh what fun. They have already called me in to work tomorrow morning too, but I have a doctors appoinment and have no desire to get up at 4:30 am.
Time to read or craft or just relax. Ginny

If your package weighs more than 13 oz and you're using postage stamps, you must take it to a Post Office retail counter to send it. NOTE: If you put it in your mailbox for pickup service, the carrier will leave it. If you drop it in a blue collection box or lobby location, it will be returned to you.
Ruth, the above is from the USPS web site, with instructions on how to prepare a package for shipment. I guess that the reason I was able to do what I did was that I had prepaid my postage online, it was a preprinted label. Guess with all the loonies out there, this policy makes sense. So sorry it I caused any confusion. Ginny

Thank you for that info Ginny. I will take it to the post office. I'm sure it weighs more than 13 oz even though it's going to be a small package. Remembering when our children were young is always nice memories even if it was when they were sick. Of ourse we don't like that they were sick but most infants and younger children do get, as you said, more cuddly while sick.I hope you are enjoying your evening reading or crafting. Sue has it been warm up there in Montana? It's been 40 and above for about 4 or 5 days now but the wind has been terrible making it feel at least 10 degrees colder I do hope you can get in some reading, crafting, or going to that spa. My dh is absolutely not a football fan. I was always a huge football fan but since this thing about not respecting our flag I no longer watch. I've revised my plan on the headband/earwarmers. I have four "done" ( with my definition of done) so I may just send those and wait to see what ones they like and if the ohter girls said they would like some then I'll make more if they do (and I think they will) I have a couple others started and I'm going to work on really finishing them this evening. I do have two of them completely done. Yes I did make a open area to get that cabinet into the room the other day but this morning dh suggested I might want to put it in a different area in the room and that did make sense. I have everything moved now and where the cabinet is going really is a good spot so I'm glad he mentioned that. While moving bins I found out just how much fleece I actually have and it's a lot so after headbands and the early in the year bdays doing fleece items will be my project.Online they have so many suggestions for using it. Joannes had, and maybe is still having, a huge fabric sale and I was really thinking of ordering more fleece. I'm sure glad I didn't. It will be so good to have all that fleece made into something and out of that room (More room for yarn ) Phyl's and my friend (altho Phyl's actually got to meet her) confirmed her way of making the fringes on blankets without tying so if it works for me a LOT of the fleece will be make into those. The fleece I wanted to get is Minky fleece. It sounds so nice and soft. Tomorrow though I'm going to do some sewing. I want to make a thing kind of like a bag you hang to put shoes in only this one is only going to have one row of pockets and I'm going to hang it in my "winter quarter's office" to put things in so that the top of my bed can actually be used for me to sleep on.This will hang on the wall where a headboard would normally be but on my side of the bed. It may look and seem strange but it will work for me. Dh is going to borrow one of the pockets to keep his remotes in as he's always losing them See you all tomorrow. I hope we hear from Meg

Ruth, it's only been warm here since yesterday. The temperature didn't drop below freezing last night and won't again tonight. Then we're going to have some snow showers for the next three days the lower temperatures at night. There are several inches of snow in the backyard. Last night the winds were very bad between Bozeman Pass and Billings, but we had no wind.
I have lots of fleece, too. I may have mentioned that I use it for dog beds. It's easy to wash frequently. The dogs, some of them, tear apart dog beds to get the stuffing out. They shape the fleece the way they want it. I've been thinking about buying some uniform size boxes to contain them a little bit better, but that's just a thought.
Dinner was really good. Major Mahi sautéed in butter with dill and lemon pepper, rice cooked with chicken broth instead of water, fresh broccoli, and cucumber wedges with ranch dressing. hb ate the cucumber and just stared at the rest of the food and said it got caught in his throat so he couldn't eat it. It's amazing to me that he has no problem with other food of his choosing. He wants pizza, steak, bacon.. There's enough fish left for me to have fish tacos for lunch tomorrow. I think I'll chop up the rest of the broccoli (which he does like and will eat) and add some bacon and cheese to make a frittata for him tomorrow or the next day. He has to go with me tomorrow, so he probably will have some pizza, but I'm guessing that his memory of really liking the pizza in the past won't match the reality of what it actually is. His taste buds have changed a lot in the past year, and he has trouble chewing. It's probably time to start using the blender more. Tonight he actually ate the chewiest part and didn't even try the rest. Not atypical behavior at all.
There was a beautiful doe a few houses away when I got home this afternoon. She was cleaning up a neighbor's flower garden just a few feet from my car. This is still hunting season, but she and the others are safe as long as they stay in our subdivision.

Sue, you talking about deer cleaning your neighbor's flower garden reminds me of this past summer when one of my whines on here was that a deer had eaten my one and only rose bush which I loved. It had two flowers and a couple buds. Well not long after that I checked it again...it's on the side of the house where I don't go often...and I found the bush looking really good and two new flowers on it. So what the deer actually did was prune it for me.
I'm really sorry to hear of the difficulty with your hubby.Seems like you're saying that he's getting worse

Ruth, nice that you will be able to make something work out for you for storage by your bed. The best part is you will be able to repurpose what you have at home and make a lovely and practical item for your home. I well remember when the deer did you a favor and pruned your rose bush! And that minky fleece is so very soft....fleece always calls my name too because its forgiving to work with and is so fuzzy soft. Have you given that easy tie method of making blankets a try yet? Enjoy your day of sewing....I can imagine it will be a pleasant change of pace from crochetting- just something different to do.
Sue- so glad you and your DH enjoyed the wonderful fish dinner you prepared. Even better that you had leftovers to play with today. How did your errands go today? Credit goes to you for being so flexible with regard to what your husband will/won’t , can/cannot eat. It must be very challenging for you not knowing how to predict what his reaction will be.
Cold and windy here. Got a nice brisk and chilly walk in. Went to the doctor this am (routine annual stuff). Now am hoping to get a little housework done and then figure out the rest of the table runner. I have to cut the sashing, and then figure out how I will make the back. yes, I have instructions and will be taught at class, but I made a mistake in my initial cutting and will either have to piece the back (which will not be seen anyway) or use other fabric (which I have already). Surely not a huge decision.....
Have a great day Ginny
