Hello Crafters - Happy Christmas Eve Hope you are all doing well today and enjoying some time with family and friends and some good food too. I baked my gingerbread this morning and will have some later. I'm also hoping to get to watch those Christmas movies today, but I'm running out of time, I may have to watch some tomorrow. There are a few Christmas shows on TV tonight that I want to watch. I'll have to look for that holiday baking show that Phyl mentioned. I saw that The Bishop's Wife is on Turner Classic Movies (TCM) tonight, but I have the DVD for that so I can watch it on my own. It's funny though, but I like to watch the TV broadcasts of movies rather than on DVD - can't figure out why, it's the same thing I checked out the blogs on the Slow Stitching Sunday post yesterday, and people are talking about their crafting goals for 2019. I don't like to make too many goals, since when I don't meet them I feel frustrated. But I do hope to make a few and to work more on my quilting and other crafting next year. Take care everyone!

Yesterday I cooked a turkey breast in the crockpot and will be shredding it into a chicken gravy to serve over mashed potatoes. With some very very small bits of cut up broccoli. hb's mouth is doing fine, but it's still tender. Custard pumpkin for dessert, possibly with ice cream! That's for tomorrow's dinner.
Things are quiet. We've had about 1000 snowflakes on the back deck. Snow keeps drifting into and out of the forecast which probably means that if there is any, it won't amount to much.

Happy Christmas Eve to you all. It is raining here today but I wont be going anywhere. Janet is home today. Her care providers always celebrate Christmas Eve and they have lots of family visiting. Janet doesn't do well with large groups of people so I decided we would have our Christmas today as well. Instead of turkey we are having rib roast. DGD is cooking dinner and I have to stay out of her way. Tomorrow DGD and Devin will go to friends for the day and I am looking forward to a quiet day and I hope to do a lot of reading. I have several books down loaded on my nook ready to read. Perhaps later I will do some crafting but I don't get much done while Janet is here.
Ginny, many thanks for starting us on a new week. I had forgotten that today is Monday. I am sure it is a busy day for you.
cj, good for you getting your ginger bread baked. I am sure it will taste delicious. ENJOY.

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVE EVERYONE, HOPE SANTA IS GOOD TO YOU.
WE WILL GO TO MARGIE'S TOMORROW. JUST EMAILED HER AND ASKED WHAT TIME.SHE HAS A BAD HABIT OF WAITING TILL THE DAY TO LET US KNOW. KINDA UPSETS ME AND JEANA.
ALL THE PRESENTS ARE BAGGED UP AND READY TO GO.
I bought myself a christmas present at christopher and banks. a pair of green leggings and a crochet top. not sure why I bought the top.first I THOUGHT IT WOULD MAKE ME FEEL LIKE AN OLD GRANDMA WEARING A DOILY. FOR SOME REASON I LIKE IT.
at menards there has been a white fiber optic tabletop tree I like.well lo and behold guess who brung one home for me today.? yep don.it is on the tv downstairs.
I like to set goals rather then resolutions.I think we try to archive goals better then resolutions. resolutions get broken.I think we try harder with goals.
my goal for the new year is to try and finish all the quilting projects I have started. some of them are big quilts. I need to go back to starting and finishing one project at a time. not start and put away and start a new project.
hope you all have a nice christmas eve and day. phyl

Hello all and have a blessed Christmas Eve and day.
I did most of my last minute things. I have one more to do as I somehow lost my sil's earwarmers I made for him with a neckwarmer. I had all the things I made in one box but those earwarmers weren't in it so I searched but didn't find them so I'll just make another pair since they don't take long then I'll wrap the two items. Dh an I exchanged our little gifts this morning. Dh is like a kid and he can't wait only with him it's to give me things. As I said just little things. I have a very difficult time thinking of things to get him but I did find two thinks I knew he would be able to use and would like and some other little, very little things.Lately I've been collecting cast iron cookware so one of the things he got me was a cast iron pie pan which I love. I don't think I've ever seen one before.Best thing he gave me besides that is caramel Milky Ways...my favorite candy bar.
Meg, I'm sure Devin was happy to get his gifts today instead of waiting till tomorrow. Does he belive in Santa? It will be nice for you to be able to relax this evening and craft and listen to books. And it's great that your dgd made dinner.
Phyl, congrats in buying yourself some gifts. And my dd too has a hard time letting us know about holiday celebrations and times until the very last minute. Drives me crazy.I haven't been to a D&B in a long time but they sometimes have the best things in thier clearnace area. I've bought some really nice things there. They're all huge on me now and I had to donate them...most with tags still on..I'm a saver. I buy nice things and save them for a "special occaision" then I never have those special occaisions.
Sue, I often make meats shredded and in gravy and over mashed potatoes. Dh seems to really like them that way. Never shredded a turkey breast though but it's a great idea so next time I get a turkey I'll do it after dh has some slices. He does like sliced breast meat but after a couple days it would be great shredded up with things added to it and over mashed potatoes or noodles. He also likes the legs and I like the thighs so we always get a whole turkey
CJ, enjoy those movies and your gingerbread.I haven't made any Christmas desserts..not for Tomorrow anyway. I have made dh is pecan tarts twice and I'm sure I'll make him at least one more batch and probably more before we get the results of his next A1c. And I'll have to make him at least one pumpkin roll. Do you have a dinner planned to go with the movies and gingerbread? Special snacks? Do you have anything over or with the gingerbread. I think I've already mentioned that my mother used to make it and have lemon sauce with it. She used to make raisin sauce for ham which I didn't care all the much for but I loved the lemon.
WEll my dear friends, have a wonderful Christmas Eve And Christmas day. I'll be thinking of all of you.

Happy Christmas Eve !
Ruth, hats off to you! Glad you are able to make another earwarmer on such short notice- and its lucky that you had enough yarn of the right color to do that. Sounds like your Dh got some very thoughtful gifts for you.....small as they might seem in size they symbolize a lot of thought! Very sweet and considerate of him.
Phyl- you too.....so nice that your Dh bought you the table top tree you wanted! Hey, enjoy wearing those green leggings and crochetted top!!!
Sue, the idea of the shredded turkey sounds really really good.
CJ- how was the ginger bread? I think the reason I like to watch movies on TV as opposed to DVR is becasue there is a time limit for the TV presentation and not something you can do anytime.
Meg, hope the visit with Janet went well and did not tire you too much. Enjoy your quiet day tomorrow with some good books!
Got to chuch this evening, lovely service. Dh, Dd #2 and I went for a walk too- the weather was in the low 40’s- so still fine for walking. Gotta get up the bread machine for sticky buns tomorrow. Have a blessed night all! G

Just wanted to say now so that everyone will see it in the morning....Merry Christmas!!

Hello Crafters - Wishing you all a MERRY CHRISTMAS Ruth - The gifts from your DH are sweet, I'm glad you have him in your life. I like my gingerbread with cool whip on it I'm going to make a pasta dish today. I recently tried Rao's Marinara Sauce for the first time and I liked it so I bought another jar to use in today's meal. Ginny - Hope you enjoyed the service last night. When did you play your flute, was that on Sunday? I think you're right about watching movies on TV, I do tend to like things in real time better than recorded. Phyl - How nice that your DH bought that tree for you, hope you enjoy looking at it. Meg - Hope you enjoy the meal today, how nice that you don't have to cook. Enjoy your new books too. Sue - You get to have a white Christmas I hope you all enjoy your day and have a wonderful Christmas. I've been watching a few Christmas specials on TV and I did get to watch a few movies yesterday, maybe I can watch a few more today. Take care everyone!

We're home from dd's house. It was great to see everyone. Dgd who has aspergers really sat and visited with us. She is so artistic and did a painting for us. She's really grown up a lot since the last time we saw her and was so thankful for the earwarmers I made for her and talked about crochet a lot with me and said she'd really like to learn. she's 21 and has a really good job and a great brand new car and manages all her finances well. I'm sure she would have done well all her life if she'd had more guidance and structure. She and her boyfriend have a pitbull that was there. As you all probably know, I'm not really a dog lover but he is really a nice dog. As soon as I arrived my 13 year old dgs had me go downstairs to his room to see the things he got for Christmas. Oldest dgd was there with my dggd who is of course adorable. We didn't really eat there but did have a few bites of the ham that was still out from their earlier meal...brunch I guess and had to sneak some to the dog who know thinks Im his bff.
