Merry Christmas!!! Two days ago we had snow overnight- just an inch or so that is now pretty much all gone.
Sue, yes that glittering look of diamonds is just so pretty. Sounds like you enjoy a good snowfall too. Hope you had a nice day.
CJ- think we just bought some Rao’s marinara sauce- so it will be interesting to see what we think of it here. What pasta dish did you end up making? I can imagine that today there were a lot of good Christmas shows on- so a lot of good TV viewing for sure. Its gonna stink when all the good holiday shows are gone- the Christmas programming has provided lots of good viewing for people like us.
Phyl- once again Don has proven to all of us that he is such a great guy- a real keeper! Hope you. Enjoyed your roll and the time at Margie’s.
Ruth, sounds like you had a really nice day! individuals with aspergers are frequently very intelligent and artistic. Sounds like she has a promising life ahead of her, if she is such a hard worker and diligent person. You and Dh must be very proud of her! Bet DGGD is adorable, she is at that age where she can really start doing things. Forgive me, I forget how old she is. How sweet too that DGS wanted to share with you all the things he got for Christmas. Reading about you sneaking ham to the dog makes me smile. My mom used to sneak turkey to our cats all the time when she came up for Thanksgiving. They figured out very quickly that she would spoil them.
We went to Dd #1’s today- just long enough to see the grandkids and give them their gifts. Tomorrow we will see them again.. Pleasant day- Dd’s fiancee is over now. I am tired of all this cooking-more to come tomorrow too!
Hope Meg and Rene (who checks in sometimes) had a wonderful Christmas, as I wish for each of you Ginny

I have never seen Rao's sauce. I'll have to look for it next time we shop.I dont really care at all for marinara sauce but dh eats it all the time.
Ginny, I bet the grandchildren were really excited about opening more gifts even if they got a lot from their parents and the other grandparents.
I used to like to cook for family and the holidays but not anymore. I like to bake for dh but that's about it. He suggested that i could make a pumpkin roll and take it but I didn't feel up to doing it yesterday. DD and the dgd with Asperger's would have loved it so I may have to make one and take it over sometime soon.I hope you don't tire yourself out too much with all the cooking. It sounds like you're going to be taking some to your dd's house for tomorrows festivities.
Ginny, dggd is just a couple days short of 17 months old.
Meg, I hope, too that you had a nice Christmas and that you and your ds were able to have a good time together with Devin and his mom gone for the day
Phyl, I hope you had a good time and got home safely
Sue I was wrong about the snow. My dd and my dh both said it snowed a little before I woke up. It was cold the rest of the day but NO WIND!! If I'd been home I could have made a fire in the woodstove.Maybe tomorrow.
So now that Christmas is over what plans does everyone have? First I'll be making the things planned for dgd who will be 10 in the beginning of Feb and a hat for dgs who's bday is Feb1st then I'll work on some things that I want to make..just things I want to try, before starting on yet another dgd's and ddil's bday gifts for March. Then I'm all done until late Aug birthday and can again work on projects I want to do...prob early start on Christmas.

Good morning everyone. I guess everyone is busy resting and tying up loose ends after Christmas and I know Ginny has yet another Christmas celebration today. Last evening the only crafting I did was look at the crocheting online group on fb and also a couple more patterns that were mentioned there and of course posted here about those thing and my plans which can change in the blink of an eye. It did snow during the night. Quite a bit actually and it's still snowing so it will now look like Christmas and in fact it does. Now that Christmas is over I have business to take care of and cleaning to do. Don't we all? I did call Lion this morning and the problem was taken care of quickly and I will receive a refund on that part of my order that's missing. I'm really kind of glad they never got here because I didn't like the yarn that was in the one I did receive. It was a grab bag type thing, as you may remember and I got mostly homespun and fun fir and you know how much we all love homespun Seems like there's no wind today either so it may be a good day to make a fire and do some baking and cooking ahead too.

We have about four new inches of snow here. Maybe a little more tomorrow morning.
It's almost noon, and I'm still "dressed" in pj bottoms. I may look for some good quality 100% cotton flannel that's not so obviously pj looking on sale and make some indoor flannel pants for myself. Jeans are so uncomfortable to wear for a whole day, regardless of fabric. This year I'm finding that the synthetic fabrics are driving me bonkers. Static electricity.
There are four dogs on my lap who holding me down. At other times, they're very happy exploring the boxes I've put on the floor. From there, they can keep an eye on both of us and move into action at a moment's notice!
Dinner tonight is leftovers pasta (bow tie) with spaghetti sauce and ground beef. I'm adding some grated sharp cheddar. Cauliflower.
My big activity for the day is cleaning out the frig. I'll wash the shelves tomorrow. I also need to move my mattress over 8-12". Last night I slipped off the bed in my sleep. I put a foam rubber wedge between two twin mattresses, but that just made things worse. What I need to do is put a strap around the mattresses at both the bottom and the top of the bed. Velcro would probably help. I didn't roll off the bed and fall. My body started slipping because the mattress was hanging over the box springs and my feet hit the floor.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today
Ginny - I used the Rao's sauce with sautéed hot Italian sausage, then I added that to cooked penne pasta. I layered this mixture with some mozzarella cheese and baked it for about 30 minutes. It turned out very good. This is something I would rarely make or eat, so I just enjoyed it for this holiday. Hope you have a good time today with family.
Ruth - My plans for the near future are decluttering, decluttering, decluttering. I have to do it, no excuses. So I might not be doing much crafting for awhile. I'll still enjoy hearing about everyone else's projects. Hope you enjoy the snow.
Sue - Hope you can work something out with your mattress and I'm glad you weren't hurt. Hope you enjoy your snow too.
Meg - Hope you are having a nice day after Christmas.
Phyl - I watched that holiday baking show and it looks like the lady from your town won - is that right? I did like the bakes that she and her partner made. This show was better than the other one they recently did.
It's sunny and in the 40s here today, nice weather. I met with a few old time friends today since they were in town visiting family. It was nice to see them and visit.
Take care everyone!

hi, we had a good time at margie's last night.lots of food and every body got nice presents.
today DELONA and I got back to normal. met at the y.lunch at rocky's. went To thrift store. then she needed some groceries.I did not buy anything.
yes that was the gal from our area and her partner for the show.all the bakers had won a championship in the last year or so.
I was happy to see her win again. she is so talented and so are all the bakers.
I think the idea of trying to make a snow globe in the cake may have helped them win.
in 2019 I am going to try and work on one goal a month. like getting half done sewing projects done and declutering drawers and closets.
I won't mention on any threads what it is till the goal is done.
now can I stick to it?? we'll see.
next week at his time the kids will be back in school for the first of the new year.phyl

CJ, I love Italian sausage. One of our stores makes their own but haven't had any recently when we've been there. Your penne bake does sound good.I'm glad to hear that you were able to get together with out of town friends. It's always fun to do that.
Phyl, I'm glad you had a good time at Margies. I've been working on my goals for 2019. Making one for each month as the month comes up and then sharing your results after the goal is completed sounds like a great idea. I have so many I want to work on but my first will be to get dgs and dgd's birthday things done even sooner than planned because dgs plans to go back to Taiwan on Feb12th so I have to have his there for him before that and he also is taking a pair of the clogs dh ended up with too many of.And along with that during time not crocheting, organizing their other gifts and packing them up, and doing the things that need done daily, will be to get my craft cave back together.THEN I'll think about Feb goals.
Sue, your dinner sounds good also. I think I'll have a burger with pineapple, mango salsa on it and some veggies. It's a quick dinner and lots of protein.

Good evening!
Ruth, I guess the reason DGS did not want your former car was because he is returning to Taiwan? How long will this trip be for? I think its a great idea to set some crafting goals....you usually seem to make your goals just fine. Really glad you got things straightened out with Lion brand. And yes, noone wants more. Homespun. Such a pretty yarn, such a monster to work with.
Sue, glad that you were not injured with your “fall”out of bed! And leftovers for dinner are wonderful- easy for everyone!
CJ- so glad you enjoyed your dinner!! Anything with melted mozarella is good, right? A good comfort food meal, and makes for great leftovers also.
Phyl- do you think we will be able to keep our goals for getting crafting done? Lets hope so....guess we just have to be realistic with what we choose to do.
Long day helping at Dd’s. Very thankful all this celebrating is over with. I will enjoy some quiet time at home in the next few days.

Hello Crafters Phyl - Your monthly goal plan sounds good, hope it works well for you. Ruth - Your burger sounds good, very tropical! Ginny - the leftover pasta was good. I used to love to have leftover spaghetti when I was a kid, and of course, leftover pizza is always great Meg and Sue - hope you are enjoy the day. I can't believe January is almost here, seems like it was just the first of December, time really does fly. The weather here is nice, sunny and 50s, but going to be rainy and in the 60s tomorrow. Take care everyone!

Good morning CJ and all who stop in later
It's ccold today and there is snow on the ground but not a whole lot.
Actually the salsa was peach, mango. they do have pineapple mango but it's not sold here and may have even been discontinued because dh is always trying to buy it for me and they never have it online either but the peach/mango is probably in a tie with it for deliciousness. It's spicy though so many wouldn't like it for that reason. It's made by Pace.
CJ, I can't believe either that it's just days from turning to 2019 and in fact I forgot all about NYE and day. Yesterday dh and I were discussing when we would go to Walmart to return something he bought that doesn't work and we said Monday forgetting completely about the holidays. So when he gets up from his nap I'll remind him that we will need to go tomorrow instead.Since we bought it online and Walmart rarely send receipts we may then have to go to the library to print out a receipt and go back, depending on whether or not this Walmart sells them here. It's too heavy to return in the mail.
I also thought we would have to return something I bought for dh but looked at Amazon where I bought it back in beginning of Nov and it said the time for returning had passed. I contacted the seller via email but hadn't heard back so I took the desperation route and read directions and now it works fine
I did do a little crocheting yesterday but it really didn't work the way I wanted it too so I now have another unfinished item going on. DDIL says that if I get the afgan for dgs sent after he leaves she will just keep it safe for him until he returns home

Snow is slowly drifting down. The flakes are large and very fluffy. The high today is 21. Our driveway was just cleared. I went out to the mailbox to mail a letter. I took a ski pole with me for balance. Then I went out back with a broom and swept a path to the shop. Sweeping is much easier than shoveling!
I've written the letter I mailed, called the dentist about an insurance submission error, stayed on hold for half an hour. All of this had to do with insurance. Several different companies, several different kinds of insurance. I would much rather just play, but paperwork just keeps happening.

Good evening! Phyl, well a dark and dreary day sounds like the perfect day to play in your play pen! Did you straighten it up/organize it or work on a project? Do not blame you for skipping the Y today. Sometimes its good to give the body a rest. CJ- leftover pizza is the best! Yes, I will even eat cold pizza. Also good are the baked pastas, which is what you had made. The weather is a nice break for us- not too cold and we are not supposed to be innundated with rain. Have you looked at the quilt kit that you got as a gift?? (Are you considering working on it?) Ruth, hope you can manage your return to Walmart without too much difficulty. Agreed its a problem that the do not send receipts with their shipments. So glad you figured out the issue with the Amazon item! Much easier than having to return the darned thing and go thru all the issues with shipping. Sue- why and how this insurance thing became such a headache is beyond me. Seems as though each time a call must be made for medical insurance, its a long haul on the phone with lots of time on hold. Sweeping snow is almost fun! Thats a light fluffy and sparkly snow....so very pretty. Other than going to Dh’s favorite spot for a walk I was home today! . Spent a big part of the day going through papers and cleaning, looking for the checkbook. I was not horribly concerned, as the last check which cleared was 3 weeks ago- a check that Dh wrote getting new eyeglasses. So many of our bills are paid automatically that we no longer write that many checks. Spent a lot of time looking for the check book though.....and had pretty much ripped through the house...had one last place to look and was going to do that tomorrow. Dd came out to tell me that she had found it! (I was out by the firepit enjoying a nice fire and getting rid of a lot of junk mail). it was in her car.....in the side pocket of the door. She and Dh took her car going to the eye doctor- so he forgot to bring it in. (He swore he had done that). Oh well, I took advantage of a great opportunity to get rid of a lot of junk mail and clean out some files looking for the check book so I am happy. Very thankful (thank you Lord!) that the check book has been located too. So I decided to work on a tooth fairy pillow for DGD. Easy project, good time of year to crochet and its a good starting goal for crafting. DGD does not have any loose teeth yet, but she is 5 1/2. Most kids start somewhere around that age getting loose teeth. Have a wonderful evening Ginny

Hight today here, Sue, was supposed to be 18. I didn't realize it was that cold out. At that time it was 17. It was pretty chilly inside the house. I've always hated paperwork of all kinds. And I don't like having to iron out problems on the phone either.
I guess I'm unAmerican because I really don't like pizza at all. If it has jalapenos on it I like it but otherwise I don't and I really dislike cold or reheated pizza.Dh loves it anyway at all.
Ginny, I'm glad you found the checkbook and were able to accomplish some other things while doing your search. I'm always burning things like bank statements in the wood stove so am glad now that we have paperless.I need to have some of the other bills made paperless because I never look at them anyway. When it's time to pay them all I look them up online. Now it's almost time to go thru the file cabinet and get rid of some more useless papers. So I've decided on dgd's handmade birthday gifts. I'll make her a hat with a nice furry pompom which seems to be the current trendy thing, then a crocheted purse with a cute lining, and the Bible cover she asked for. Then I have to find out what kinds of things she likes. She will be 10.I'm going to make dgs a hat also. I don't know what weather is like in Taiwan but maybe he will change his mind and not go or he can use it next winter. So those are my crochet goals for January and more specific than I mentioned yesterday. I think the purse itself and the hats will each take a day and another day at least to dig out fabric and make the lining for the purse. So it won't take long if I get going and work on it like I shouldf

Good morning all! Ruth, gee, I have a crochetting goal of one item- and you have four!!!! Love the sound of a hat with a furry pompom, and of course the Bible cover. I have no idea what the climate is like in Taiwan- but trust that DGS will be blessed by the hat no matter where he is.
So, I lost the directions for the tooth fairy pillow. Duh.....will have to see if I can find others online. G
