Beverly Hills is most interesting to me. I forgot. I used to watch that, too. When I say "watch" I should clarify. I DVR all programs and skip commercials and for housewives I would skip over characters I didn't care about or filler nonsense. Me too. It is so much more efficient to use the DVR

Hoarders till it made me sick. Just learned a neighbor around the corner is a serious hoarder. She is a manicurist and has occasionally done a nail repair for me. Anyway the house was repossessed and sold to house flippers. Truckloads of junk have been taken away. So sad.

I have my house phone through the cable co. I was being driven insane with junk calls from all over the country. I just found out that I can go online to my cable account and block up to 30 phone #. They call it Peace & Quiet. It's one service that they offer that I truly love. I wish I could block more numbers. They also give the option to block calls that block caller ID but I haven't done that yet. I don't want to block a call that I may want to receive. Oh, yes. AT&T had call blocking for years, but I think it was only about 8 numbers. Phone through your cabler provider is called VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol), and VOIP is offered by many non-cable companies. Probably the most well-known is Vonage, and I used them for about 5 years but they didn't have any form of call blocking. I went on a hunt and found ITP4YOU.com out of New York. They offer VOIP at a reasonable price. And they have, hands down, the best privacy features. With them you can put your line in Do Not Disturb and specify that they use a black list (like your blocking option) or a white list. I use the white list. Anyone who calls me without a caller ID that's on my white list simply doesn't get through. For years I had non-white-listed calls sent to voicemail, but the robocallers have gotten wise to that and started hanging on long enough to leave messages. So now an number not on my white list simply hears a message that says "this caller is not taking calls at this time." My house phone hasn't rung with an unwanted call in about 4 years!a If I chose to use the black list, it is unlimited as to how many numbers can be added to it. The downside of blocking numbers is that robocallers and marketeers are making up fake caller IDs for every call they make. So if you add those calls to a blocking list, you could be adding a legitimate number. Recently a call came through from someone I know but nobody was there when I answered. Turned out that a spam caller had spoofed my friend's number and that let the call through to me. It is crazy, and I was reading an article last night that said the FCC is in the process of passing a modification to their laws that will allow them to go after those who running these operations from overseas. Eventually sanity may return. I hope it is in our lifetime!

I've always loved the show Cops. There is something that really thrills me about arrests. I'm quietly waiting/hoping for the greatest arrest of modern times.

I also DVR all programs so I can fast forward or just listen while I'm doing something else.I don't know the last time I watched a show all the way through without being DVR'd.

Hoarders till it made me sick I was just talking to a friend about this today. I was saying there is a big difference between people who are messy and have too much stuff and people whose homes are filthy. I think many of the people on Hoarders fit the later category and I think may have some type of mental issue that needs to be addressed. There is much more going on then just a messy, cluttered & dirty home. I haven't seen the show in a long time, but often I would have to turn it off because the filth was just too much. It made me want to gag. There was a British show called How Clean is Your House? It featured two ladies who cleaned these really out of control dirty hoarder homes. Then they would come back in a month or so to see if they people kept it up. Most were making an effort. However, some you knew were going to end up right back where they started. Probably because the root cause isn't being addressed. It's sad. They really need to seek medical help. Maybe for depression or something. --- I'm not a doctor. I just play one on the internet I also have watched a few episodes of Marie Kondo's show Tidying Up on NetFlix. So far the episodes I have seen have not featured very dirty homes but just too much hoarding. Here is a link to an episode of How Clean Is Your House? You can see what I mean by the difference between messy and having too many possessions and having a house that is filthy. Eventually sanity may return. I hope it is in our lifetime! I just saw this on CNN. As you noted and stated in the article, they are working on it. FCC: Nearly half the calls you receive this year will be spam(CNN)Nearly half the calls made to US cell phones in 2019 will be spam, according to a study by First Orion referenced in a Federal Communications Commission report Thursday. Ninety percent of those calls will have familiar caller IDs, but there isn't an effective way of identifying a call as spam before answering. "Currently, the only certain way to determine whether a call is wanted or unwanted is to answer it or let it go to voicemail, and hope the caller leaves a message," the report said. Not all robocalls are illegal or unwanted. Businesses such as pharmacies, banks and utility companies use them to provide information and alerts to their customers. But despite laws prohibiting certain types of robocalls, including those made to individuals on the national Do Not Call Registry and those meant to defraud, such calls have risen over the years. For us, I would say the percentage of calls coming in to the landline that are spam is much higher. They very often have the caller id of local schools, but since I don't have a kid in school, I don't answer.
The phone will probably come out soon, but I truly hate the idea of giving out my cell phone to everyone. I don't enjoy talking on it, and I've kept pretty tight control of who has the number. I also do not like the idea of everyone thinking that I am available NOW. Fortunately, since I'm retired, I don't have the work obligation to answer that I see my kids having.
I remember many, many years ago attending a Chamber of Commerce meeting about cell phones right after they became available. They were huge and cumbersome and didn't work well.. I remember thinking that it was going to be awful being at everyone's beck and call all the time. I think I might have been right - although it is nice to have in emergencies.

I remember thinking that it was going to be awful being at everyone's beck and call all the time. I have one friend, a bit older than me (in her 70s) who has a cell phone for HER convenience. She seldom turns it on. She carries it for HER safety and convenience. She recently ugraded to a smartphone (iPhone) for the primary benefit of having the Maps application to use for navigation in her nav-free car. Even with the iPhone she seldom turns it on. I still get irked by folks who feel that I've given them my cell phone number so they can use it as their primary way to contact me. For them, I simply don't answer and they are forced to call my house phone. Hey, if you get voicemail, leave a message. Perhaps one call in a lifetime will be a life-threatening emergency, and for those there is 9-1-1 which is the appropriate number to dial. All other calls can afford to receive a callback at my convenience.

I 💖 ID TV! There I said it. I like to figure out who did it before they tell me. Favorite author, Lisa Gardner.
As for the phones, I don't answer mine any more. 🤷♀️ if you leave a message I call you right back. I block all #'s I don't know 😁 like I said, leave me a message. I also have 2 cells, 1 for work so I can turn it off and still talk to my family and friends.

zazzles, that is pretty much my attitude about my cell phone right now. I've had people ask for the number and I've refused to give it to them. Raises a lot of eyebrows, but too bad so sad. I pick up for my DH, my kids, and my sister. That is it. Everyone else can talk to the voicemail.

It is total silence. I have that assigned as my default ring tone on my phone. Those I wish to perhaps answer get an individual ring tone assigned to them. So if my phone rings, I pay attention to who it is. But everyone else's calls don't disturb me and they can leave messages. Works pretty well.
