Good morning! The sky is blue, and the sun is shining. Everything looks beautiful. I'm staying home because there's snow on my car and the temperature is -22! Seems like a sensible choice. Things are going to warm up tomorrow, and be Wednesday, the main streets should be free of snow and dry. One of the oddities here is that the side streets in town aren't plowed ... ever, unless a private party does it. Gets pretty messy. The rural subdivisions pay an additional fee, and private contractors plow every time it snows. The university takes care of itself, but the streets leading to and around it ... no. Most winters, the snow compacts, melts a little when it's warmer making room for the next snowfall. Waxing philosophical this morning! I predict the lawn won't be free of snow until after May 15 this year. Old timers are saying they've never seen anything like this. But then every winter is different.
Just after gas rationing ended after WWII, we started camping in the Sierras for a month every summer. Our usual spot was at 10,000 feet and was located in an idyllic valley. A ridge of mountains divided Yosemite from the National Forest. After dinner I worked on knitting socks. We all wore hand knitted wool socks while we were there. I haven't knit socks since my early teens!
I hope everyone is having a good day!

Hi crafters. Well, after my knitting bag has sat here for a couple days I finally decided to take a look at the scarf. Took quite a while to figure out where i was in the pattern but finally got it done. Each row is different but maybe I can get this thing done by next winter.
Yeah.....got our federal tax refund today. Just over 2 weeks since I filed the taxes.

Sue, it's 12 above zero here right now and nice and sunny.. I never realized that your part of Montana was so cold!We haven't had much snow at all so far this year. I've never knit or even dreamed of trying to knit socks. As you probably know some of the lifetimers knit socks and they were telling me that it's easy and I should try it but no....I know my limitations and socks is definitely not in my skill level. Betty, I have a project like that. I started knitting a waffle stitch baby blanket for my dgd that just turned 10.Startedit before she was born. It's still sitting in my craft room not done and I have no idea of what row I was on when I last set it down there. I had turned up a piece of paper that had my notes on what row I was one about 3 years ago and I think it's still around here somewhere but I'm not sure. Good luck with your scarf and yes, you will have it done by next winter. Phyl, how did the retreat go? Did you get a lot of sewing done? I know I'd be spending most of my time talking. Meg, I hope all is well with you and that Janet is progressing well in her recovery. Ginny and CJ, I hope you will both have a great day. Sounds like you, Ginny, are having bad weather since you said last night that there was already a two hour delay in schools starting this morning. CJ, everytime I think of you getting rid of all that "stuff" I picture your craft space being nice and organized. Wish I could say the same for mine but it's been cold in that room so I haven't done much in there. Well now I'm going to go and work on the cable hat I started last night...crochet cable, not knit. I didn't get a hat done yesterday so may have to make another today after I finish this one. Still have other projects that need finishing...well recent projects...I have actually a LOT of unfinished projects... I'm on plan C. My plans are very fluid

Good afternoon!
Babysitting day here and I have 10 minutes to post before DGD’s bus arrives.
Brrrrrr!!!!! Sue, that sounds so cold! Wise move staying in. And I cannot relate to so much inconsistency in plowing snow. Here the municipality does most of it and only a few private roads being done by contractors. Now, my mom used to knit socks for my dad- my mom knit baby sweaters, ties.....all kinds of stuff. I cannot knit for beans.
Betty, that is great news that your federal refund has been delivered already!! And - also good that you figured out where you were on the scarf pattern. Do you have the motivation to finish it now?
Ruth, most of us have very fluid plans- and if you kept a list of what you finished each year you would be surprised at how very much you complete. Sounds like its super cold by you also. Stay warm.
They say we are in for the cold too- tonight the temps drop. Right now, I just want to get home....sometimes these days at Dd’s are LONG.
No crafting for me- busy with the grandkids and straightening up the house a little.
Hi To Meg, Phy. And CJ Ginny

Ginny, I do think that it's easier to babysit in our own homes although if you do it at theres then all the childrens toys, clothing, and their beds are right there and handy. Well the hat is finished. Now on to the other things I need to finish. Ginny, I do have a notebook where I've tried to keep track of everything I've finished and who it was made for and when. I'm kind of lax on doing that so it's not a complete list. I also found out that one of the women who has a crochet blog and has wonderful free patterns, lives where the tornado hit in Alabama. Her house is fine but her son's house was destroyed. Thankfully none of them were hurt. I also heard that there was a young man shooting inside the hospital here during the night. Luckily it was in the radiology dep't which is mostly deserted here at night. They haven't said whether or not he had a reason or if he was just drunk or on drugs. We have a huge meth and opiod problem here for the size of our town Yesterday some of my crafting consisted of finding some of the patterns I lost in my computer glitch by looking in that notebook I mentioned then looking them up online and adding back to my bookmarks. There was one that I found that I didn't have written down in my notebook but I somehow accidentally found it online. They are fingerless gloves and I may never even make anymore of them but I liked the pattern. They're lacey ones. On My favorite of regular fingerless gloves I found that the blog that had the pattern had been closed and the pattern is not available Ok back to work

Ruth, it's not usually this cold here and definitely not for this long a time period. I think our temperatures are usually fairly similar!
I can't knit socks anymore either! The needles and stitches are too small for me to manipulate. I crochet rather than knit now because I can keep my elbows close to my sides. That keeps my back from going into spasms.
The so I mentioned previously has had a field day for the last five days with semi threatening incoherent emails. It's distracting. My attorney was out of his office, but I've spoken to him twice today. It's a good thing he gets a flat fee. He has copies of everything. That's all I can do.

Sue can't he be arrested for harrassment or something? And since I think you said it's in email, aren't there laws against that? And maybe you could sue him. Well you do have an attorney and I'm sure he knows what you can and should do.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Sue - I'm sorry to hear about the problems you're having. I hope your attorney can help you. Ruth - That's so sad to hear about the family losing their home, but I'm glad they are all safe. Betty - I'm glad you were able to get back working on your scarf. Ginny - Stay warm! Meg and Phyl - Hope you are getting in some crafting. I love to go in my sewing room now, it's so nice to have everything organized and really does help me to feel more creative. I was thinking that I'll feel sad when I have to leave this house now, but then I remember all the problems in the house It's cold here too and windy. I did get some more decluttering done today, this evening I'm going to go through my stacks of greeting cards and Christmas cards and just keep what I want. I also packed up some more trash and dragged some bags outside to be ready to put at the curb for pickup this week. I found a bunch of Christmas decorations that I do want to keep so I need to find a way to store them, but I want to wait to go through the rest of my decorations. I don't know why I keep them since I haven't decorated for Christmas for years. For my next crafting project I want to pull out all my precut fabrics and make a list of those and organize them. I know I have a lot more than I think I do, right now they are spread around in a few different containers and I want them all in one. Take care everyone!

hi crafters, yes we did have fun. not I did not get alot done. I should have gotten more done but did not
I took mainly charity stuff with me.the challenge is to take a fat quarter and make it into a 10 1/2 inch block well my fat quarter has a foot ball pattern.. I will get 4 blocks out of this fat quarter. the first two all I did was put a yellow frame around the square. then a green frame around that. yes Betty it is packer colors. well the frame color is. the square is background is brown with regular color of foot balls.
not sure about the other two squares yet.
then I have a purple fat quarter to do something with.
I did get 3 hot dog pillow cases done.hotdog is the method you do the pillow case with.I use the method from jenny dolan of msqc.
the meal were ok.nothing to brag about.
the kids did make it in to mn friday night. no problems with the weather. they did hit some snow going into mn.
saturday they made it here and we did go to outback. they left 7 pm saturday night.drove straight home to ky. except for a little rain they did get home about 4.30 am.

Good evening!
Phyl- welcome home! Hey, worrying is an honor bestowed forever upon moms and then grandmoms. Absolutely no apologies necessary!! Sorry that the meals were so so- guess that kept you from overeating though! Overall, did you have a good time?
CJ- when you are ready, go through those Christmas ornaments. Perhaps paring it down to a few will make you feel better. Taking some with you to your next home is a charming idea- its a way to bring the traditions that the ornaments remind you of with you and carry that into your new home.Sounds like you are on a roll for getting through all your stuff. And I bet its inspiring seeing all your fabrics well organized and nicely stored!! Job well done.....get to the precuts when you get a chance.
Sue, can the harrassing emails be directly forwarded to the attorney? Or, just sent into a special “file” of your email? Have you spoken with the attorney about the threatening nature of them? Yes, you are paying a “flat fee” for legal services, but this looney is crossing all kinds of lines in harrassing you. Perhaps at least attempting some legal action is order.
Ruth, that is awesome that you finished the hat. So glad you found the fingerless gloves pattern. perhaps you will make that pattern now. I am glad you have a log of all you crochet for family. Even if its not complete, a partial list of what you have made would be helpful. I can imagine its quite some list!!
Its easier to babysit at our home. We have lots of toys and a crib here.....today I cleaned 2 kitchens, loaded and unloaded the dishwasher twice, swept 2 kitchen floors.....easier if I am just here. Tomorrow, we do babysit here.
Have a good night all Ginny .

CJ, I can understand keeping the Christmas ornaments even if you dont decorate. I'd hate to get rid of mine unless I knew there was someone that I could give them to that would enjoy and cherish them. Can you share some with the rest of your family maybe? The neices and nephews will need Christmas things when they have their own homes...if they don't already. Yes I can almost feel the pleasure you have in your nice uncluttered craft room
Phyl, I'm glad you had a good time. Most of the time I think the food at those type of things doesn't turn out as we would like however I really don't know since I've never been on a retreat.I'm glad your family got back home safely including Nathan. I have a grandson Nathan also. He's the youngest of all 14 and is a year old.
Ginny, I imagine your home is like mine used to be when there were young grandchildren around. We had a crib, one of the seats with built in toys that held the child in place but they could "walk" around and bounce, a high chair, strollers, toys, etc. Now we just have a few toys that are mainly boy's things for boys from about 2-12 or so. Well girls like to play with trucks and cars also. And I do have some videos for kids that I wanted to get rid of but dh said to keep them so I did.
I made the flaps for the eyeglass pouches and now have to weave those ends in and crochet them on and those two things will be done. Oh and sew on button. I have one scruchie almost done. I found some chenille yarn in my stash and it's really pretty so I used that. I didn't know how it would work but it seems to work fine so I'll make more to use that up and then get some more of it from the container that has my "unusual" yarn and make some more.I don't really like the elastic hair holders that I have. In the store they seemed fine but they're like the rest...very stiff and hard to stretch. I guess they don't make the good ones anymore. I've tried a lot of them and they all seem to be like this. I guess I should have checked the ones in the dollar store when I was there the other day more closely. They probably have stretchier ones.I'll check on them next time.I did finally find my "handmade with love" buttons but still not my tags.
These eyeglass pouches are really nice and soft and I can see them really protecting lenses from scratches so I'm going to make one for dh for his new glasses. Of course I'll make it without the flowery flap. He can use it on his nightstand instead of using the hard one they give you with glasses which he never would use. This one would be easier.

Well it looks like everyone else was also otherwise occupied. I've been doing a bit of cooking and kitchen cleaning so far today so no crafting yet although I did find my buttons and tags that I've been looking for. They were in a bag of yarn so I guess that's crafting according to our definition. I have two slow cookers going and the pot of spaghetti sauce is done simmering.
I did make the flaps for the glass cases last night and crocheted them on so they're done. Now that i have my buttons and tags I'm more in the spirit of doing the finishing work on the ohter things. I started another hat last night too but didn't get far. I got tired so went to sleep earlier than usual.
It's a lot warmer here today but the wind is picking up and even though it's supposed to be fairly warm tomorrow...by our standards...it may snow or rain or both. Thursday is still looking good weatherwise although it will be windy
I hope everyone is having a good day and I'll see you all later

Good evening! Sorry for getting here so late, it was just one of those busy days.
Phyl, well sounds like sew day was popular today. Bet everyone was house happy- wanting to get out of the house! Glad you got some sewing time in ....and glad you had a good time on the retreat.
Ruth, those glasses cases sound really nice, were they difficult to make? And yes, I would think that a nice soft case would be used more by Dh than those hard cases (which break anyway). Glad you found a good use for the chenille yarn! (I had some leftover from my mom.....think I donated it). The super soft texture would be nice on a scrunchie. Hey what hair elastics are you looking for? Would Walmart.com have them?
Babysat- DGD #2 was pretty good. She is such a funny baby. Got my fabric all cut for table runner class tomorrow. So yes, I got some crafting time n. Have a good night all Ginny
