evening, betty read the label first. I do believe there are some yarns out there it says do not block. think ruth and ginny can agree to that.when I use to knit or crochet I had some yarns the label said do not block.
ginny I do not have a problem with the food plans themselves.all the other things you said hit the nail on the head.the ww starter jean nidch (sp) must be crying and rolling over in her grave.
ww is a food plan, a meeting room (not a studio)the leaders are leaders not coaches.
connect would not be so bad if they had a rule no pictures with out being fully dressed or maybe a full body swim suit can be put on the web. I have enough of my own out of shape skin to look at. sure don't need to see anyone else's.
I think 90 percent To even maybe a 100 percent of us asked ww to let the old board stay. at meetings we were to go to ww and tell them how we feel. they would listen. we are ww . alot of good that did.
from what I have heard and read the new ceo was in retail not anything to do with losing weight. a friend said they need to get a new ceo and get rid of oprah. fat chance there.
I think the gentleman ceo they had some years back was probably one of the better ones. heard he got fired.not sure if that is true.phyl

there's a lot of posts to respond to, I did earlier but then my wifi went out. Got that rebooted and then I couldn't get on this site and of course my message was no longer here when I got back
INe...that should be we...keyboard and the wireless keyboard both are doing weird things. We went to eye doctor which took forever, did a tiny bit of shopping there, went to LJS and had lunch then on to Big Lots which is getting worse and worse, to Dollar Tree, then to pharmacy to take care of my pharmacy business and shopped in the store the pharmacy is in. Found out my favorite grocery store is closing so am not happy with that.
I agree about WW. I'm a lifetime member but haven't been to a meeting in yeats because of their policies and greed. I also complained about the closing of the WW message board and have never been to Connect but heard just what you both said that it is for the immature and there is too much nudity or near nudity.
Phyl, I did read awhile back that WW said that if you quit they will still be charging for that month. I can sure understand your frustration. It wasn't the fault of the girl you spoke too but you have to vent to someone. I did a little of that earlier too when the cashier in Walmart tried to charge me the price per pound for each of my individual onions. they were 68cents/lb and he tried to charge 68 cents for each small onion and he was nasty when I told him about his error. I kinda snapped back so I also had to pray for forgiveness.
Betty I don't know what kind of yarn you are using for your scarf but I mostly use acrylic and for that all you do is what Ginny said,,wash and either air dry in the dryer or lay flat to dry. For wool and some other natural fabrics there are several methods most of which are a huge pain in the neck and involved pinning sometimes on a special other fabric and spraying with a mist and letting it dry or gently using your iron and using a pressing cloth. If you try pressing acrylic it will often melt. I know that edges on knitted scarves almost always curl and people try blocking to keep them from doing that but it mostly doesn't work no matter what you do.
CJ you've done a fantastic job of clearing out the house. I mentioned in my lost post that sometimes old buttons can be quite valuable. I have some really old ones that my aunt gave me. don't know why she had them as she was the one aunt that didn't sew but they were ones that were sold in the old 5 and 10 stores on cards and you can tell they are very old. some are marked 10 cents. Some are very cute with old fashioned images of baby ducks and other children's type buttons. I'll keep them. I doubt they are valuable but they mean a lot to me.
Sue, I'm glad you got to go to quilting and that the caregiver took your hubby to Costco so that you don't have to go now. And no I don't think it's strange at all going to a quilting group and crocheting..
It snowed here in the night...quite a bit too but by the time I got up it was already 42 degrees and snow was melthing fast. It was horribly windy here at my house but in town it was great. It got up to 50 degrees and most of the snow melted but it's to snow tonight again too. I'm glad I got all the errands done
Ginny, it sounds like you had a busy day also. I know your table runner is beautiful because all the ones you've made so far and sent me pictures of have been beautiful. and that BOM that you plan on doing will be a welcome respite from wedding prep. And thank you for asking your dd about chrome books. Dh told me that schools use them

good morning, in about 90 minutes we will pick up Dick and Anita. we are on a road trip.will go to a quilt shop, eat and then to Theresa's guild's quilt show. we will be back by supper time.
ruth I think almost all of us on the old board sent our feelings into ww. they didn't care.
I also heard the ceo is blaming the keto diet for not getting new members, how dumb can she be??(not sure if that is true)
THE end of january and most of february was so darn cold people stayed in ,if they didn't have to go anywhere. they should take in the account of bad weather.
enjoy your friday. phyl

Phyl, I knew you were good with WW eating program- its a great program and has done much for many to help embrace better eating habits and good health. I also called, emailed what ever when WW decided to make changes.....and it did no good. I still pay for WW online. Went on connect about a month ago and was shocked by a video posted of a woman who was driving her car (you could see the scenery change around her) and all she did was stare at her phone (which I hope was mounted on the dash) and flag around her little “I lost 50 pounds” banner that she got at her meeting. It shocked me that she did not crash the car. I hate connect. I have called WW to tell them that....they are aware of the problem and have given me ideas to try to make it more likeable for me. I do believe they know they have a problem but seem powerless to change it. And you are right, Jean Nidetch (had to look up the spelling!) is rolling over in her grave. Hope you have a great day shop hopping and at the quilt show. Bet you will come back with all kinds of great ideas.
Ruth, spoke to DD about chrome book- she is not impressed. She likes it for its size, but that is about it. The programs it has are limited (does not have Word, for example) and its slow. Of course for school use its great cause all the kids use the ones provided by the school. Guess its not so good for home use however. Perhaps there are upgrades to it- that would make it better for home use. Glad all your errands are done! Sounds like you are in a very volatile weather pattern- warmer temps but still a fair amount of winter precipitation. Better to stay home than fight the snowy roads. Are you using the new car for your errands? Bet its nice having a new reliable vehicle. Any chance that another store will go into where your favorite store is? We had that happen here too- both local stores closed....(one was replaced by a better store) and its miserable having to readjust your shopping habits based upon what is carried by each store. Its downright frustrating.
Got a nice long walk in this am with my gf and Dh went out for breakfast with her husband. Now gotta fold some laundry and straighten up my messy house.
Have a good day all Ginny

good morning all. It's not all that cold here but it is snowing although very lightly. I'm glad it was yesterday that we went out.
LOL, Ginny, no we're still not using the new car. Each time we plan to go out dh goes out and charges the battery on the old one and we take it. I'm glad we did yesterday because traffic was awful, I would have been even more nervous driving. And I've meant to ask you again what is the name of the product you mentioned for the inside of the windshield. I kept forgetting to look for it at Walmart and want to do that or order some online.
Thank you for the info on Chromebooks. Pretty much what i found out online too...they are limited. Of course what I do online is limited also. For instance I never use Word so won't miss that. And yes most of them only had 2gb running memory so were slow. The one dh did actually go ahead and order for me has 4gb. Won't be a problem for me anyway because I'm used to slow. The only thing I do on my computer is email, these message boards, myonline banking, and ordering things and some searches. Just really basic things.Ds said that with what I do that a basic Chromebook should be fine.At least he got a good price. I think the schools here still give the kids Apples. I'm glad to hear that the already overtaxed citizens of NY have to pay only for Chromebooks.Basically Chromebooks don't have anything that is associated with Windows.
Oh and don't remind me about folding clothes. I have a bunch to fold. Luckily they are mostly fleece things thta didn't get all wrinkled sitting there waiting for me to do that. I have to make my list and start on the things I need to get done today. Mostly the folding, some cleaning and a little cooking then my crochet projects.
Phyl, have a great day at the quilt shops and shows. I'd love to attend some quilt shows. Not sure my dh would enjoy them. sounds like Don and your friend's dh like them.

The Chromebook has been shipped so should be here soon. I'll force myself to start using it right away in case there are any problems I can return it right away. The laptop I'm on right now has a "swoosh" line in the screen but I didn't notice it until I had all my info put on it so I kept it anyway. It really doesn't interfere with anything.
Well I took apart the hat I was working on because I didn't like how it looked. I remembered after I did about 4 rows that she had both a bottom up and a top down option. I like doing top down hats better.I didn't want to take it apart then but I should have. I didn't have the problems with the brim rows in the top down but that's my reason for finally taking it apart and starting a diffeent one...the brim rows didn't look good to me. Now that the one I started earlier is done I'm going to start that other one again but use the top down and I'll change that in my bookmarks too so that the right one comes up in the future.
Have a good night everyone and get a restful sleep

Happy Saturday!! Ruth, I think that is really cool that the directions cover both bottom up and top down....I agree, top down hats are probably easier- also easier because you (IMO) can see how the hat will fit and still make a final adjustment before its done. Hope your chromebook arrives soon and that its exactly what you want. Did you get your housework and folding laundry done? Thats the least favorite part of laundry, folding it all and putting it away. In a way, I like to hang laundry outside- then I fold it as it comes off the line and that job seems less ominous. Yes I have hung out laundry in the dead of winter. Only a few times this winter however. Think the name of the stuff for the windshield is called Invisible Glass. It does a great job of getting rid of the tough to remove film- just follow the directions.
Did some housework this am. Think Dh wants to go for a walk later when it warms up. Then I want to get back to work on the table runner- which needs the border and binding. I would be happy if I got the border done, which should not take too long.
I am getting ready to purchase the stipple template and special foot so I can make a fancy design with my simple machine. I have not seen any reviews of the product, but called the company yesterday and they indicated they have gotten good reviews. The youtube makes it look easy to use without too much practice.

Good morning, The scarf is done. Found several ideas for blocking and thanks to those of you who gave suggestions. Ended up going the easy way. Completely soaked the scarf in warm water, gently squeezed the water out and pinned it down flat on several towels on the carpet. Did that late yesterday and it isn't completely dry yet. Looks good though. Thought about putting fringe on it to use up the yarn, but haven't decided.
I really like my chrome book. Does everything I need.

Thank you Betty. I imagine you and I do pretty much the same basic things on our computers so if your's is working great for you I'm sure it will work great for me. I really don't use mine for much..probably less than anyone else I know. Thank you for letting me know about yours.I'm glad to hear that you found a good way to block your scarf. Most people always used to put on fringe but it seems as though fringe is kind of frowned upon now.
Ginny, I think you will have a great time using your new gadgets to do the fancy stitching. I never knew you needed extras and at the series of quilt classes I attended back in 04 they mentioned only the walking foot none of the ohter things I hear that you need so obviously the info they gave was incomplete. I'll undoubtedly never do any fancy stitching since I seem to have a hard time getting to sewing anyway. I just need to use my time more productively.
So far today some cleaning of the kitchen but I'm not done yet, got in some exercise, and made dinner for breakfast and will have breakfast food later...maybe. The dinner/breakfast was just frozen prepared foods cooked in the oven but we want to make room in our freezer to buy meats at the store that is closing as they have the best meat and at the best prices so have to use up the convenience foods that come in large bags and take up too much space. I kind of doubt that they will put anything in that building. So many businesses are closing here and yet they keep opening new ones. I guess maybe the new ones are crowding out the old.All the new ones are on the other side of town. There's not much on this side. WE have one mall, which is on the other side of town, but a LOT of the stores in the mall are the ones closing.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today and enjoying your weekend I've enjoyed reading about what's going on in your lives and the projects you are working on. I hope I can start working on some things soon. I've been busy in the house and have finished going through all but one room in the house, and some drawers that have business papers, my father's things, etc. This last room hopefully won't be too bad. I have a lot of framed family (and other) pictures stacked up in this room and need to figure out what to do with them. My father took up picture framing after he retired, so he framed a lot of things and I have them all here. He was really good at it and made some beautiful frames. I admired how he knew what he wanted to do after he retired and went and took lessons at a frame shop and then set up his own shop in our basement. He kept doing this until his vision started getting bad. I've been retired over 4 years and I still can't figure out what I want to do We had some wet snow here yesterday. It was pretty to watch and melted when it hit the road and was all gone this morning. Today was cloudy and cold, but it's supposed to be in the 60s tomorrow. I can't believe it's already time to set the clocks forward. Time sure does fly. Take care everyone!

Good evening!
Betty, congrats on finishing the scarf! You did what I would have done to block the scarf. Honestly, by the tmie it is damp, I usually move the item and just let it hang until dry. Do you think you will add a fringe or leave it as is. I am glad you are happy with the chromebook and that it suits your needs. Its obviously a product that meets the needs of many- chromebooks are popular.
Ruth- good planning making room for meat from the store that is closing. But boy that stinks that it is closing!! It kind of makes you wonder why all the stores are closing, I guess there is always the hope that a better store might open or be built somewhere close by. Its good to hear that you got some excercise in! As far as quilting goes, the walking foot is great for stitch in the ditch or other top stitching. For stipple an opentoe foot is used - and then either a template or design drawn on the quilt. Or the other option is sending a quilt to a long arm quilting machine for that lovely decorative top stitching. The special foot and template I have been investigating permits the somewhat fancy stipple design (based upon the template) using a home macine. Hope I explained that ok.
CJ- you have gotten so much done in such a short amount of time! For your framed family portraits, if. You do not want to keep them but do not want to discard them, perhaps they can be scanned and stored on a flash drive. (I am planning on doing that with my mom’s pictures). Think I would save your Dad’s precious frames, or pick your favorite 2 or 3....perhaps other family members would want other frames. No matter what, going through all the paperwork and belongings is a lot of work.
Stinks that we lose an hour of sleep tonight......
Have a good night all Ginny

good happy sunday morning,
we did some bumin yesterday. when it started raining we came home. later on we got snow. don snow blowed the driveway last night. he thinks we got about 3 inches. this am he was out there with a shovel .thinks we got another 1/4 th inch over night. this week I think we will get more rain. sure hope spring is here after this week . even though we will have temps in the 40's.
friday's road trip was fun. we went to a small quilt shop. Nita was not impressed. she thought the fabrics were to dark. I bought a snowman kit of a snowman decorating a tree. it included the buttons.the problem I had is the pattern is extra. most quilt shops will include the pattern.
oh well we hardly ever go to this shop.I think she had more stuff when she first opened up about 4 years ago.
then it was onto Theresa's guild's quilt show in Augusta. This was a nice show small. don't think they had as many vendors as before.
I did buy some half yard fabric from a vendor couple that is always there.
NITA had a great time buying half yard fabrics.she bought something else from another vendor not sure what it was.
while I was sitting talking to theresa, nita sat and talked to the vendor couple. not sure if this couple will do many more shows. he has first stages of demintia and her health was not good the last couple of years. I will miss them.
while we were in the show don and dick went to see his two brothers. I teased dick did he enjoy not going not going into the show. he said very much so.
after the quilt shop we stopped in restaurant called the norse nook. they are famous for thEIr pies.I HAD THE COCONUT CREAM CHEESE,WHIPPED CREME PINEAPPLE PIE. SIN FUll. nita and dick only wanted a taste. only wanted a don ate some. I still had most of it. this place serves large helpings. no way would a person be able to figure out the points for ww.
we will eat lunch at home today. to much eating out last week.
might bum later. phyl

Phyl, it's been great seeing so much of you this week. It sounds like you had a great time going to the quilt show and shop. Yes you do seem to eat out a bit but the one you mentioned that gives large portions is my kind of restaurant. We rarely eat out. I'd love to eat out a lot but it''s the cost that holds me back and when I do go out I don't want any of those fancy upscale foods where you pay a fortune and get hardly any food. I want good old comfort food and lots of it!! I've been wondering if you did get that hip injection and did it help.
I have just 3 or so more rows to do on my latest hat then I'm going to make some more of the one they call the Wanderlust hat. It's easy and it's very nice. I do have to get back to working on the gifts. Today is the birthday of my oldest grandaughter. She lives here in town, then Tues is my ddil's bday and the dgd I'm sending gifts to has hers on the 16th so only a few days later so not this coming week but the next I'll mail the gifts for them

BLessed Sunday all!
Phyl, sounds like you had a really nice weekend. Glad you got home safely in spite of the snow. Good thing you did not have to travel far in it....and that there was not much snow. Do you have plans for the fabric that you bought, or did the fabric just call your name.. Sometimes fabric just does that.....Its indeed a shame about that couple you have so enjoyed doing business with over the years. It was nice that you were able to see them once again, and hopefully are left with many fond memories of them in their prime. This aging process is something we all have to face, if we are lucky! Glad you enjoyed the pie! Sometimes, you have to splurge- which pie did you prefer the coconut one or the pineapple pie?
Ruth, is the wanderlust hat one you are making as a donation? Sounds like a very busy week with regards to your family and birthdays. Are all their gifts done, or do you still need to make them? Hope that your weather holds up so that the eventual trip to the Post office is easy and pleasant.
Got to church this am.....and spent the afternoon going through items from my mom that we saved for Dd#2 for when she moved out. (Like my mom’s china). Its a fair amount of stuff and makes more room in the storage space. Got to work a few minutes on the table runner- but now the cat is sleeping on it, so all work on it has ended for now. Yes, I am a wimp and will not move the cat.
Tomorrow is...Monday. yuck Have a great night all Ginny
