I am not currently a member of WW, but was sent an invitation to take a survey. I just took it and it was about a personalized Keto plan and how interested would I be in it and what I thought of the advertisement. I think I would join again if the program was more personalized. The WW advertisement read: " turn your body into a fat-burning machine".

I did not receive any email survey from WW team. I had started receiving a few when I stopped tracking, but nothing since I started tracking on the app again.

It seems like they are testing all kinds of ideas to figure out how to turn the tides and stem the bleeding.
I find it interesting that they would be test marketing the idea of Keto since Mindy Grossman flat out came out in interviews not long ago and said that WW would NOT jump on any “fad diet” movements like Paleo or Keto.

zazzles the only reason I can think of is someone reported WW is not doing well was because of keto.I can't see WW going in that direction though. If so I would be gone in a heartbeat.Low carb is one thing but I would never do keto.

I’m not convinced that WW is going to go in any one direction. I suspect (perhaps hope) that they are going to try to come up with a “do it your way” plan that allows members to choose the parameters around which they track. Then, perhaps, they provide tailored “GHGs” for any particular nutrient-based goals. In my mind it would not make sense for WW to step back to any single previous plan, nor to adopt any one current fad. Those are already covered. But come up with the ability for people to specify what kind of plan they are following and have the WW trackers adapt to their needs and they would, perhaps, have, a winner.

I agree with Zazzles because one of the questions was "how likely would it be for you to join WW if it was personalized?" Other questions centered around my opinion of WW in general.

From what I can see, Keto is like Atkins on steroids. A lot of people can't tolerate all that fat---personally, it would make me sick. I like my butter, olive oil, etc, but in moderation. If WW wants to jump on a trendy bandwagon I think it will sink further into the toilet it wandered into with the "Wellness Wins" campaign. 80-90 per cent of the calories on a Keto diet come from fat. That's disgusting, IMHO. In my mind it would not make sense for WW to step back to any single previous plan, nor to adopt any one current fad. Those are already covered. But come up with the ability for people to specify what kind of plan they are following and have the WW trackers adapt to their needs and they would, perhaps, have, a winner. DING DING DING DING---and we do have a winner! One size does not fit all, especially when talking about diet plans.

I love this idea of personalized programs. I bet WW would do very well with it.

Z, it seems to be dangerous fad also. It may work in the short run, but IMO you are mortgaging your long term health. Dr. Kim A. Williams, the past president of the American College of Cardiology says, "No One Should Be Doing The Ketogenic Diet,’ Top US Cardiologist Warns" There are a lot of articles on his stance. All I know is it came from weight watchers and it is not the first one I have received from them. I opted in to answer surveys for products as well as anything else they want feedback on, when I was still a member. Been getting them for years.

Z, it seems to be dangerous fad also. It may work in the short run, but IMO you are mortgaging your long term health. Yep. I know a couple casually through mutual friends. I see them every Christmas Eve at dinner. Three years ago it was obvious that they were in need of a weight loss. Two years ago they were significantly slimmer having jumped on the Keto bandwagon. Last year they looked like the Stay Puft Marshmallow people…bloated back up, probably heavier than before they started. I know that most of us regain weight after following a program IF we go off the program. But people I’ve known that regained from WW programs seem to have done so over a few years whereas those who regain after low-carb or high-fat or some of the other fad diets seem to do so very rapidly. I was 25 years old when I decided to join WW the first time. My mother told me years later that she was very concerned and consulted her physician; and he told her that WW was the safest, most well-balanced weight loss diet he knew of. So it will be interesting to see what is offered by way of a program change for 2020. It is hard to believe that it is 10 years since PointsPlus was introduced.

I actually like the idea of personalizing although I don't like the idea that WW decides on your personalized plan for you. I would hope you could retake the questionnaire until you got the plan you liked. As far as keto and other low carb diets are concerned, I think they can work fine for some people. I personally tend to eat toward the lower carb end most days (not ketogenic though). I don't like real restrictive diets so I would not want to follow something as strict as keto. Some people find it works for them and they are able to sustain it (yes, they should run it by their doctor first to see if there is any reason it is not good for them). But, I have long felt that the least important thing about WW is the food plan. What is important is the change to one's behaviors and habits and you can make those on a lot of different eating plans.

Personalizing, in my mind, would require intensive interviewing of the person joining to find out what has/has not worked, habits, food allergies, likes and dislikes, activity level, medical conditions, blood work and more.
That said...
In many ways we all personalize WW when we start following the program.
* In the exchange program (long ago) I chose what protein, carb, veg, fruit, fat, etc I would eat.
* Counting fat and fiber I chose how to get the fiber in * Counting points I chose how I spent my points deciding personally whether or not to follow the GHGs * Not sure about Freestyle or SmartPoints since I did not get the information from a center online to follow those programs or bother to update but think it i still each person's decision how to spend their points and which of the 200 zero point foods to eat and in what quantity.
So...in many ways we choose how/what to eat but do need to stay within the exchange/calorie/points for our weight...
At one point in the past there was a questionnaire that we took to see if a higher protein or carb diet helped us stay more satisfied...or if a balanced diet worked better. Can't remember which program that was but in the past.
As I recycles ALL of my program materials since 1984 in a fit of "I won't diet ever again"...this is all from memory.
Just a thought.
