Hello Crafters sue - Hope things work out for Willy and that you will be alright until your podiatrist appointment in a few weeks. I agree with you about groups being nicer when the talkative people aren't there all the time. Thanks for your thoughts on the two cars, I'm about at a point where I might just go to one car. If something happened to it, I'd just have to get a rental car. Ginny - I'm glad you enjoyed the prayer meeting and I hope your quilting BOM goes well today. Ruth - Even though it's work to get ready for guests, I bet you are excited to see your sister and your son. I'm happy for you that they will be coming to visit. I saw a crocheted soap holder - it was a picture and they labeled it "Soap Sack". It was just a picture and no pattern, but it was cute and I thought of you. Phyl - I hope you can get things worked out with your computer. I find "electronic" issues to be the worst. We've all come to depend on them so much for our daily life. I'm having troubles with my landline phone today which might be because of the heavy rain we had yesterday afternoon - it was over an inch of rain in about an hour. I've had this happen before after a heavy rain the phone usually starts working again. I may get rid of this phone service anyway. I've received a notice from them that if I don't let them change my house out from cooper wires to fiber ones that they'll be disconnecting my service. Since I live in an old house and I've read some scary stories about them having to cut into your walls and the foundation of the house, it may just be time for me to quit the landline and go to either cell phone only or I think I can get a phone hooked up through my Comcast service using my wifi modem. I've been researching it all morning on the Internet and I'm sick of reading about it The main thing I want to do is keep my old phone number. We've had that phone number since 1954 and I'd hate to lose it until I would move from the area. I did some work on the small sashed square quilt last night and was so pleased with myself after I finished sewing on all the sashing strips. Then I started laying them out and realized that I had sewn the wrong fabric for 2 of the sashes on each of 16 squares I was so disappointed and tempted to just throw everything out, but I got out my seam ripper and I'm taking off the outer sashes and I'll sew them back on correctly. These are the things that make quilting not that fun for me anymore. I seem to be making a lot of mistakes. At least I can always look at quilts on the Internet and read blogs even if I don't work on my own. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend

Good afternoon everyone. Sue I haven't heard that we have Uber or Lyft here. We have one taxi company...that is if it's still in existence. I haven't seen any taxi's but I don't get out much. Sorry about the toe. Those things can be very annoying and irritating not to mention painful. I hope that both you and Phyl are able to get your computer issues taken care of.I'm glad the quilt group was better today. We had people like that in our Caps for Kids group too.
Well I forced myself to finish the doll today. It's obvious that my embroidery skills need a lot of improving. I'm not sure what I'm going to work oln next but I think hats will be in the picture because I didn't get even one made in April. I started one and it didn't finish itself. I'm adding those to my list of things I can work on while visiting with dear sister and still talk. Found out my son is coming in September. Guess he did decide that I needed to concentrate on visiting my sister and maybe he wants to have time with just us also. He's not even bringing one of the kids with him but maybe now that he's changed his plan to Sept he will bring one but I actually have no idea. When he does he takes whichever one is with him to do things such as visit "the park", the hot springs, etc so maybe he just wants to have mom and dad time.

Sue, our DS had to have half of hs big toe nail removed- and yes it sounds awful but is not that bad. As an alternative to daily pain, its the right way to go. but waiting another 2 weeks for the appointment will not be pleasant...hope you can stay comfortable until then. When does the dog go to the vet?
Always lovely when two self absorbed people are silent- either due to laryngitis or absence.

CJ, I see you posted while I was typing. I got rid of my landline quite a few years ago now and have one through my cable company. I do have an emergency cell phone too because sometimes the cable phone goes out and of course we all need a way to communicate with the outside world if an emergency comes up. Every year when the cable bill goes up I call them and tell them I'll need to get rid of the phone part to reduce the bill and every year so far they've given me the phone again for "free".There are also other phones that ;you can buy and use with your modem and not thru the4 cable company itself. One is Majic Jack and I can't remember the others right now. I used to have a Verizon cell phone and at that time I didn't have any other phone at all because it was very reliable but when we got cable for internet we switched to that phone...it was cheaper.
Ok gonna go decide what to crochet next.

CJ- lots of automobile insurance companies cover rental cars...and if the car is under warrantee it should have rental car coverage for repairs. And with our cable switch in the fall, our landline is now through our cable modem. So sorry that you had a challenge putting the sashing together.....that is the kind of problems I had with the first quilt blocks. Its very frustrating, I know....but quilting is so much fun. We have to remind ourselves of that sometimes.....ha ha ha
Ruth, seems good news to me that Ds is going to visit in September. Company is a lot of work, and this surely gives you time to see your sister and recover from her visit. What have you decided to crochet next? I am sure the doll is adorable...
Class was good. I have to make 4 blocks this month (YIKES) and next month is English paper piecing- which I hear I will either love or hate. I cut the fabric for the first block, so that I do not forget everything I learned this morning. Hope I can get it sewn tomorrow.

So far today I haven't got much done. WE've been discussing the vehicle that we just bought. It's a lemon...well no lemon laws for used vehicles but this one doesn't run. Every time we've tried to use it the battery has been dead as a stone. I did do a row of crocheting on a hat I started last night. It's a very nice hat and I'll post the link later so you can see what it looks like

Oh dear....Ruth that is awful. Will the dealer do anything for you? think I would harass him until he did something- something to help you out. Perhaps its an easy fix, something simple in the wiring. I can imagine you are severely angry and disappointed with this truck.
I would love to see a picture of the hat you are working on. A bright spot in an otherwise crummy day for you.
Working on block #1. So far I am not too frustrated. Ha ha ha BBL Ginny.

I love paper piecing! I hope you do, too! There is a quilti top somewhere that I want to find and finish. It's a variation of a quilt that was on the cover of one of the quilt magazines at least ten years ago. It was called cabin in the woods, I think. I made lots of little houses and trees, geese blocks for one of the bindings. It's not finished, but I would like to finish it. I think it's probably still packed in a box. I made copies of the block pattern using Electric Quilt.
The mail just came, and my sister's mail is finally being forwarded to me. If I had known he was going to withhold the mail, I would have done it a long time ago. The post office takes a long time to make the change, but that's probably a good idea. The rest of things are progressing, sometimes slowly, sometimes more quickly.
Willy will have the wire removed on Tuesday.

Ginny, i sent the saleswoman an email telling her of the problems I was having. It's an old car and they told me when I bought it that it had no warranties or guarantees so I don't think they will do anything. The saleswoman emailed me back and was pretty rude saying she doesn't appreciate that I was insinuating that she purposely sold me a defective vehicle. I didn't say that but I wouldn't be surprised. Anyway she said they stand behind their sales and when can I bring it into be checked out. We'll see what happens.I emailed her back and ask if this check of the vehicle was going to be done free of charge and she didn't answer me. It may be just the battery but the strange thing is that the previous owner had just put in over $4000 worth of audio system, Then he bought a cheapie battery and traded it in. Makes me think that in putting in the audio system components that they did something that severely damaged the electrical system. Otherwise why would he, after spending so much on audio, spend so little on a poor quality battery and trade it in right away. But I'll do what I can and if nothing can be done I'll live with it. You win some, you lose some. That's life.

Sue, that is great news that your sisters mail is finally being forwarded to you!! That should make your life easier- I hope. And we shall see in a month if I can stand EPP. I hear you either love it or hate it. I hope you can find a quilt pattern that is similar to the one you would like to make. Perhaps going through the magazines archives you will be able to locate that really nice pattern.
Ruth- I surely hope that this dealership at least looks at the vehicle at no cost. It ought to be pretty easy for them to look at the mileage on the car and see that you have not driven it a lot since you purchased it. All the facts about installing an expensive audio system and then a cheap battery does sound fishy....I know that electrical systems in cars are hard to check out and trouble shoot. Hope that this works out for you.
Got the pinwheel center done and am now working on the flying geese border ot this block. I just looked at the clock and realized I am better off getting some rest before I start makng mistakes.
Have a good night all Ginny

Hi Phyl.
I was wondering if any of you have a fitbit and it so what kind and how do you like it and do you actually use it. I'm thinking of getting one but don't want to have another thing that's just going to sit around unused. I don't even have a smart phone so smart phone or iphone apps don't matter to me. I just want something that will count steps, etc and maybe get me moving more. Thanks
I did hear from the saleswoman and they are going to check out my vehicle for me at no cost to me. Now what comes after that is another story so again we'll see what happens. I have to have it towed there but luckil;y I have roadside assistance in my insurance which will do the towing to the dealer
