I'm glad that you were able to get the shopping and errnads done. I'll look for that magazine when I'm in Walmart next time just to look at it and see Phyl's store..well not her store but the one she goes to. I'm glad you have options for the class you need and yes, if you're interested in continuing to drive part time and doing some other work for them definitely keep your license current. Been chatting with sister while also crocheting. I have a lot done on the blanket. I'm using Bernat blanket yarn which I thought would be really hard to work with but it isn't at all. I just wish I had used a larger hook but I'm not taking it apart now...I have too much done to do that but if I ever make another with this yarn I will definitely go up to a larger one probably a P. With the leftovers I'm going to make those water balloons. Now that might be harder to do because I do think it will be harder to see the stitches. Going to dd's house for dinner later then home to sit, talk, have ice cream and crochet.Maybe not in that order It's another beautiful day but this weekend is going to be awful with temps at night down to 34 and highs a few days only in 40's...80's down to 40's...gotta love variety.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today It's sunny here today and a bit warmer. I have all the blinds open on the west side of the house to get some of the afternoon heat in here. It was only 63 this morning in the house. It has been nicer sleeping though It's supposed to get up in the 80s next week, and I'm dreading that. It's easier to get warm than it is to get cool, for me anyway. I received my first incoming phone calls from my new cell phone today, so I guess Verizon is working on the getting the phones switched. Ironically, the regular landline phone has started working again. So while I was talking on the cell phone, I received a call on the landline phone - so I guess right now I have 2 phones with the same number. I'm a conspiracy theory type person so I have to wonder if Verizon caused my problems on the landline (which happened at the same time as I received the letter that I had to change from cooper wires to fiber wires) just so I'd make the appointment for the wire change. I know that's a bit far fetched, but it does seem strange how the landline phone started working again just when I was starting to get calls on the new cell phone. I hope to get out again this week and look for more rhubarb and also buy some fresh strawberries which are in season right now. Take care everyone!

CJ - That sure is strange! Must be something with how these phones work. Here my cell, dhโs Cell and the landline all ring when there is an incoming land line call, anyway, glad you were able to enjoy the nice weather. I agree with you itโs easier get warmer than to cool down.
Ruth, well I am in my phone and cannot see your post. You sure do have a swing in temperature! Hope that your sister has clothing to get her through the changes in climate.
Just had a conversation with Dh about the class. Well he is not happy about it. Gotta see if I can switch class days.
Have a good night all Ginny

I'm sorry to hear that your dh is not happy with babysitting so that you can get to the class.
CJ, that is strange about the phone
Well I got my fitbit today and tried to set it up but it won't even turn on.Then they say I have to havve a smartphone or a computer with windows 10. I could set it up on my windows 8.1 if I had a dongle. I have no clue where to get a dongle. Of course that may be a moot point anyway if it doesn't turn on.Did yours come already charged or did you have to charge it before it would turn on. I did order a smart phone yesterday but it's not an android I don't think so even when I get that and if it even works and I can get it activated I don't think the fitbit will sync with that either. I guess I shouldn't have got it at all. I should have listened to what the author of the book my friend suggested to me..she said, basically, not to get "things" I knew I wouldn't really need a fitbit and If I can't get it to download on my computer it will just be an expensive pedometer....IF it ever turns on. Otherwise I have to return it and they say the customer is responsible for return postage which doesn't seem right at all.

ok I'm taking it back. I ordered online but I got it from JC penny's and from what I can see there's still one here in our one and only mall so back it goes. I did get it to turn on but all it does is tell me to go to the online app which won't work on my devices unless I spend another $10 for a dongle....oh, or if I spend $139 to update to window's 10 and of course my Chromebook doesn't even have windows.

My landline is Century Link, and it's still working part of the time. I like the conspiracy theory! Or maybe even a mouse. Driving me crazy. The carpenter ants have their advance scouts out.
Yesterday morning Willy's back flared. He shrieked. I had to drop him off at the vet. His is on vacation for a week, and there were no appointments available yesterday. The same thing happened with his back two years ago, and he recovered. Hopefully he will this time, too. Late afternoon pickup, so I was out a second time on a day when I had nothing more strenuous planned than walking into a he kitchen. Willy is on a steroid, an opioid and a muscle relaxant. Same concoction as before. Also same problem with hb. He has problems with picking up Willy with his rear end supported, no people food, and carrying Willy up and down the stairs. No common sense and thinks I'm making up these things.
I'm skipping quilting today. Just don't have the extra oomph I need to get there.

Hello Crafters Ruth - I'm sorry the Fitbit won't work for you. The first one I had came with the dongle and I plugged it into my PC (with Windows 7) and set up my account. I'm not sure what will happen if I don't use that PC anymore, I'll have to test it out on my laptop. The whole "electronic" thing with every new product these days is very frustrating. I spent about an hour today figuring out the voicemail with my new cell phone and reading about whether I need to pay for the Call Filter to get caller ID, etc. I think everything should be set up now, the landline phone is dead. I am going to wait about a week to make sure everything is working well before I call Verizon and tell them that I don't need an appointment to remove the copper lines. I'm afraid if I don't do that they might just disconnect my phone number, even though it's a cell phone now. I told someone that I just want a phone to make and receive calls, they can keep all their other fancy stuff Ginny - Hope you can decide on what licenses you want to keep, it's tough making these future decisions. Sue - It's tough taking care of our pets. I hope the vet can help with his back and he'll be better soon. Thanks for sharing in my conspiracy theory Phyl, Meg and Betty - Hope you are all doing well and getting in some crafting. I realized yesterday afternoon that I had really felt good all day and had lots of energy. It made me realize that I haven't been feeling that very often anymore. I haven't been eating that well and need to get back to that. I've been thinking of joining WW again and going to meetings, hoping that will help motivate me and make me accountable. The meeting I want to go to starts at 9:00 A.M. and I'd have to leave my house about 8:00 just to be sure to get there before the meeting starts. I have a lot of trouble getting up so early anymore, but maybe that would make me get out of bed - at least on that day Take care everyone!

CJ, yes it is frustrating having to set up the new devices and they don't give nice clear directions..for instance they didn't say whether or not you had to charge the fitbit before it would turn on. I do think that meetings of some sort for weight control are a good idea. They do make you feel accountable and help you stay on track. I hope it works for you. And yes all of our meetings here are way too early in the morning or in the evening when I can't drive.
I'm thinking of setting my fb up on dh's desktop.Mine didn't come with a dongle. He has windows10 but if I set it up on his I'd have to use his desktop to use and see all the info, correct? I like to keep that as his room and not invade his space just as he doesn't go into my craft cave.I'm also confused because I read that if your laptop does not have bluetooth then you need a dongle. Well I have bluetooth and it "sees' my fitbit because it adds it to the list but it won't pair.It does turn on now but all it says is go to fitbit.com slash setup...won't give me heartrate or steps or anything. So I assume that if I set it up on his I'll at least be able to see info on the tracker on my wrist, right...or maybe I'm wrong about that. Now I'll be getting the new cellphone like you just did, CJ, so I hope that will work better. I know the last cellphone I got because my other one decided to take a swim, I couldn't set it up online so had to call and have the guy walk me through doing it that way and of course since my hearing is so bad that is very difficult.I think my dh got more upset about it than I did because he thought I was asking him how to do things where actually I was only venting and telling him what the fitbit wouldn't do
Sue, sorry about Willie's back and also that you got too worn out to go to quilting.

Ruth - Maybe once you have set up your account, you'll be able to sync the FB via Bluetooth and see your stats, I went online at the Fitbit site to set my account up. The account is nice because you can log in and see your daily steps, and weekly steps. You can also see any exercise you do - extended periods of time doing something, also your sleep is logged if you wear it at night, so you can see sleep patterns and there are more things you see in your account, like calories used.
Hopefully you also received a charging cord with your FB, I did with both of mine. I plug it into my desktop PC to charge up, but I think you could use any USB charger to do that. I usually charge every day or every other day and I wear my FB 24 hours a day.
Once I had the dongle in my PC desktop and the account set up, all I have to do is be near the dongle and my account updates. That might work for the Bluetooth the same way - just being near the device with your FB will sync the stats.
One thing I like about my FB is that it's set up to remind me to walk at least 250 steps every hour for 9 hours a day. There are times when I sit at the computer or on the couch reading and it reminds me to get up and move.
I hope this works for you. I love my FB and would really miss it and I hope that you would like yours too.
I have been surprised that my cell phone set up pretty easily, but I know I haven't activated all the many things on it. The person at the store was very helpful, I know I would have had trouble doing it myself. Some of the features I'm just not interested in since I want to use this phone just for calling out and receiving calls - no games, no internet, etc. It's probably wasting money to have such a nice phone and not use it and once I get more comfortable maybe I will set up a few things.

CJ, that's my problem. I can't get it to let me set up an account. Well I think I did set up an account on FitbitConnect dot com which they said I had to use if no smart phone or win10 but no, my fitbit still isn't doing anything so my fitbit isn't sending anything to that account. All it shows on the fitbit screen is to go to fitbit.com to set up an account there. Nothing else will show. Maybe I should spend the money and get a dongle and see what happens but it should synch with the bluetooth and it doesn't.
I'm glad your cell phone set up easily. My Chromebook did too. We were lucky there. I don't intend to use any of the features on my new cell phone either and hey, maybe it is money wasted but it is your money so you should get what you want and need. Sometimes we have to get something that has a lot of features that we don't need in order to get those we do need.

whining again...well I have a very old smart phone that my ds gave me to just play with to see how I would like a smart phone. It doesn't make calls or anything...strictly internet thru my wifi. Anyway, amazingly it let me download the fitbit app. However in the app it told me to go to my computer to set up my tracker. It's like I'm running in a huge circle here.

Busy day..
Ruth, try going on Fitbits web site and search for help....they usually have good columns on how to work through a problem to get it to work.. Hope you can find some help from them.
CJ- hope you make the right decision regarding WW. Its an excellent program- perhaps joining will inspire you.
Sue- so sorry about the dogs back. Poor baby

CJ, meant to comment on your rhubarb and don't know if I did or not. Mine is looking pretty good so I need to go out and cut some and probably put it in the freezer for now. I do like it alone but would like to save it for with strawberries which I haven't seen in our stores yet and of course we have no longer ones.
Ginny, missed you all day. I did try what you suggested in going to that site. I saw a few people asked the question about synching and pairing but there were no answers.
I seem to be very negative these past days. I made a lemon pie today with jello lemon cook and serve pie filling and it didn't taste lemony at all. I have a couple more boxes so guess if and when I use them I'll have to add some lemon juice and zest.
On the positive side we had a great time at dd's house the other day being entertained by the adorable Ava. Sil cooked dinner and it was absolutely delicious. He made a fantastic salad too. Unfortunately the potato dish he made had a catastrophic failure when the dish suddenly shattered into small shards so of course the whole thing had to be disposed of. Luckily the other food wasn't near it when that happened and even without that we had plenty to eat.

Good morning! Ruth, what a shame that a delicious potato dish was shattered. Think at one time or another that happens to everyone, and its so very disappointing. the salad sounds delicious, glad you were able to enjoy that as I am sure it was gluten free. Wonder what was with the lemon pie filling? While not a lemon fan, I have cooked with their pie fillings in the past and been very happy with them. Hope that you are able to figure out the fitbit issue. I will have to go back and reread your history with it and see what comes to mind. Like CJ- my first fitbit came with a dongle, and I set it up on the computer (old windows 7). I was unable to have it set up on my IPAD, which was an older generation model. It worked well....and I must say despite several difficulties with the fitbit itself (which fitbit replaced twice for free) I was happy with it. After about 4 years (and now surely out of warrantee) I noticed the fitbit had trouble syncing- so i broke down and bought myself a new one. (Charge 2). This one does not use a dongle, and works well with my IPAD and phone. I do believe there was one time I emailed them with a problem and they assigned a case number to me and were SUPER helpful. (That was one of the times I got a free new fitbit sent to me). I will more carefully read your posts with what has gone on with your Fitbit and see what ideas come to mind to help you make it work. Yes, once paired it should automatically pair with your bluetooth device...and I love my fitbit for the same reasons you love yours.(CJ)
CJ- WW is an awesome program... and I hope that you make the best decision for you. Are there other meetings that you can attend?? I know they cut back on the number of meetings- I used to have a lot of choices and am now down to only a few, most of them are a bit of a drive. But its important that you feel good and take good care of yourself.
Sue, best of luck with Willy. Hope that this issue resolves itself with the treatments you have been using. Vet visits are expensive too.
Ruth mentioned being negative (which, by the way I did not notice Ruth!). I gotta mention it also- and hope that I have not been edgy or negative here on the thread. My Dh has been more difficult than normal recently and its been challenging living with him. I hope that my frustration with that situation has not ruined our safe haven here for anyone.
I did end up rescheduling my class to the day before. Now I am taking it at a location that is just over an hour away- instead of one 20 minutes away. I worked hard for this license and am not ready to give it up just yet.
Lovely morning out there and I am off for a walk. Have a great day all Ginny

Ginny, I have noticed you being quieter than usual but not negative at all. Even people talking about the negatives in their lives does not negatively impact our group at all because we are all caring people and feel for one another when something is not as it should be.
On a positive note I did get my fitbit set up finally...on dh's desktop. He gets way more stressed about these things than I do so setting it up was not a happy experience. I can usually work through these things but when he's there he kinda adds to the stress. If he hadn't been there though I may not have seen an important step because he is the one that pointed it out to me. I'm not too sure the fb is real accurate though because from walking to that bedroom (his cave) to our master bedroom it said 38 steps and I don't really think it's that far. But whatever...I'll use it and enjoy the features I can without having to invade his space too much to use the app. Thank you Ginny for your help. Please don't spend your valuable time reading all my woes about it because your free time is very limited and you should enjoy those free moments.
Sister and my dd are going shopping today. (at least I think that's what she said...my hearing and I getg tired of having to tell people to repeat themselves )I'm going to stay home and do some things.
Ginny, I'm glad you were able to find a solution to your class dilemma. Sorry you have to drive so far to go to that class but I know you enjoy your work and are happy to be able to do it part time so no, don't give up that license until you're sure you want to.
Good morning also to you CJ, Sue, Phyl, Meg, and Betty. I do hope you all have a great day.
