Sue, my dd tells my sister that she's seen all four seasons while she's been here for the last 11 days. It was beautiful for the first few. Now it's been snowing most of the day but luckily not sticking. We had several inches on the ground when we got up but it melted and what's been falling is melting right awayand I hope it stays that way. Friday has got to be good for me to drive her there.
Sue yes sometimes our plans, when we look back, don't seem to be what we hoped back then. I hear Montana is beautiful though. I've never been there. We knew what Wyoming was going to be like when we moved here...that it was going to be very dry in the summer and very cold in the winter. We didn't realize just how cold though and how long winter would last.
Ginny, I know you'll be happy if you get to stay home tomorrow for a change. You are so busy anyway and there's the wedding and the classes you are required to have for your license and the fun things like the quilt classes, Bible study, etc all take time and I'm sure they're all enjoyable in their own way.
CJ, sometimes I think that when the time comes that I have to move that I'll just abandon the house completely and just let my kids deal with it all when I die. Can't do that of course but it's tempting. I'll be selling mine as is also but at least I live in a safe area where neighbors would notice if anything unexpected was happening and notify the appropriate people which is certainly a load off a person's mind. I'll also be selling it at a way more modest price than other homes in the neighborhood just to get rid of it and someone would just nealed the cash to do some updating and they'd be getting a great deal. The scenic view from my large window that is and always will be an unobstructed view of open spaces and the mountain is enough to make anyone want to buy with all thos epositives added. Other homes here sell for ridiculous prices now
Oh theres the oven gonna go eat

Back from the trip for alterations.....which pretty much went well and the dress is gorgeous.
CJ- I wonder if there are any planned communities in your area. (Or where you think you might want to be). Not that my area is loaded with them but there are several senior housing condo’s and some of them are pretty nice and afford a nice neighborhood feel. I wonder if enlisting the aid of a GOOD (hard to find but they are out there!) realtor would be helpful. In difficult markets, they do seem to know what will be on the market soon- and to prepare to see the house soon (the housing market where I am right now is crazy, homes are selling in a very short amount of time). My mom’s house (which I sold 4 years ago) was a difficult sell, and I really understand the frustration of not being close to where you are selling a house. (My moms house is a 70 minute drive from my home). I worried constantly about flooding, trees falling on it, vandals etc.....believe me, I know how you feel. Its wise not to do much to your house to sell it- make sure its clean and freshly pained in a neutral color and that is it!. Noone has a glass ball and can see what the next owner will want to do with your house. My mom’a house was in a good town, but on a very busy road. The kitchen had been updated 25 years ago- and was showing its age. We had the hardwood floors stripped (and threw out all the carpet)- painted everything and cleaned the heck out of it. Because it did not have a brand new high end kitchen and spa like bathrooms, I had to accept the only offer that came in- considerably less than what we originally wanted. I decided to sell because I was tired of paying taxes, utilities and insurance on a vacant home. My husband thought I was nuts....wanted me to hold out for more, but my sister (thankfully) understood. Everyones experience is different. You seem like a very intelligent person and will make good decisions...
Sue, I hate moving also! And we all learn through the process of doing so...eventually becoming experts in the odd process. BTW, where did your sister live before she passed? Think we all have ideas of how to improve on our present living conditions or how something could have been done better. Guess that is the plight of those who do not have unlimited funds and must “make do”.. I will be praying for you that your toe is not super uncomfortable tonight! Our son had similar surgery a few years ago and yes the first night was tough. The next day he was able to put on his mandatory work boot. Hope that tomorrow you feel better. Enjoy the look of your freshly mowed lawn!
Phyl- congrats on completing the bow tie top! Are you pleased with how it came out? I think its a great idea to plan in advance what you will take to sit and sew.. then you are ready and can plan what to bring, also plan for when the project will be done.
Long day and I am tired. G

WE actually have several senior condo developments also. I have no idea how costly they are but my neighbor was looking into them...she's in 89's and said they were a really high cost. I'd never be able to be in one of those that she mentioned. Maybe she was talking more about assisted living and if so she doesn't need that at least now because she does fine.
The snow is sticking to the ground and grass now. Blah!! Phyl, I'm glad you were able to make it to sit and sew today and got the bow tie top done. Yes a wall hanging sounds very nice but then so does a table runner or several other options.
I finished the headband/earwarmer I started this morning. It's waffle stitch but different than most I've seen and it's a fantastic pattern. I'm definitely going to make more of these.
Have a great night all and get lots of nice restful sleep
Ginny, I'm so glad the dress fitting went well and that you are both pleased with the dress itself.

Good morning!
Yes, I did get some restful sleep last night (thanks Ruth for those wishes) because I did so much running around yesterday and was home so very little. Think today Dh and I are heading out, again- but this time he wants to get a new suit for Dd’s wedding and I have to return the bra that Dd thought she needed for her gown, but when she got it home she found she did not like it. But today, hopefully will be a simpler day than yesterday.
Not sure I will get any quilting in today.
Ruth the waffle headband design sounds so nice. Glad you found a pattern that is so pretty and works well for you. BBL Ginny

So today I'm thankful that my ds changed his mind about coming to visit right now. This was the day he planned to go back home and I would have had to drive him to the airport in snow. I could do it but I don't like to. It's still snowing but just lightly.I'm praying for good weather for Friday and no snow to drive in as that's dsis' airport day.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Phyl - I'm glad you made it to Sit and Sew and that you finished some quilting. Sue - Hope your toe is feeling better today. Ginny - I hope you do have an easier day. Ruth - Hope the roads clear up for you soon, and that you have good weather for your trip to the airport later this week. Thanks all for your support on my moving issues. I used to have a lot of family around the area but now it's just one brother/sister-in-law and one niece and her husband, all the rest of the family have moved out to different states. I've always lived here and I would really like to stay in this state where I know all the laws and am comfortable. It's just unfortunate that it's a very high cost of living area because so many people work for the government and have big salaries. Like Ruth said, I'd love to just pack up my stuff and walk away from this house. I sure don't want to deal with how hard it might be to sell it. My father's name is still on the house too, so I know they'll be issues with removing that. And there is a small lot of land behind our house that used to be part of the property before my father subdivided it years ago. He had a plan to sell it to someone to build on, but never did - so now I have that piece of land to deal with too. We tried to get it reconnected to the front property years ago, but the county disapproved our request stating that the land is in a different subdivision than our house is!! Just lots of problems, so I'll have to work through them. I actually did some work on a quilt today I finished putting the strips back onto those blocks where I had to rip the seams out. I ended up with 16 blocks about 8 inches in size. Then I pieced them together with 4 in a row - so 4 rows total. I'm really happy with how it came out - it's 32x32 inches. I can't figure out if I want a border on it, because with only using 2 fabrics in this quilt I'm not sure what color to add. I think I have enough of one fabric for the binding, but if I use that without a border it will mess up the design of the quilt - since I'd have the same fabric touching each other. I'll have to think about this. Still I'm happy to get that done, because I really want to work on the mason jar quilt using the fruit and vegetable fabrics I've had for several years. I'm going to try a few test blocks to decide how large I want the jars and whether I want them on a black background or a white background. I've seen these quilts both ways, but I'm still not sure which I like the best. It's nice weather here again, in the 70s. I'm staying home to enjoy the cool house. Take care everyone!

CJ, we were very lucky when we sold our house in NY. The market was sparse in homes esp those that were affordable and we had multiple offers even though it was a realtively small house and quite old and needed many updates. We did put some work in it just for appearances sake much like Ginny says they did with her Mom's house. People then offered more than the asking price. Plus we had an attorney (it was required in NY) who was extremely helpful and actually took more of a part in selling and settling the house sale than the realtor did. If you have a good realtor they should be the ones that keep a check on your house if you don't live near it while selling but I don't know if there are really good realtors anymore that do things the way they used to be done. Yes it does sound like the sale of the house and that extra lot will be complicated but again...a good realtor should be a lot of help since they get a good percentage of the selling price. I'm glad to hear that you got that quilt put back together. I know you'll make a great decision on whether or not to put on a border and what color to use. I, of course, have never seen one of your quilts but you just sound like a person that is knowlegeable in quilting and in what goes together well.
I started another waffle stitch headband in Red Heart ombre that has reds and pinks and am almost done with it. I'll start another this evening after I finish this one. I may put these aside for Christmas gifts or may add them to my box of donations

My toe is feeling much better today, thank you. I was able to put on a shoe. That was mainly because I had to take hb to the dentist and Maggi to the vet. The weather is cold and wet still. There's some new snow at 6500 feet from last night, but it disappears during the day. Maggi needed her shots.

Sue I'm glad to hear your toe is healing well. With the hubby needing taken to dentist, etc and the puppies needing to go to the vet at various times your need to be able to wear a shoe for sure. How's Willy's back?

Good evening, Just got a text from DSIL that DGS is still sick....so I will be babysitting there again tomorrow.. At least its a shorter day.
CJ- quilting is wonderful- it does not include laws, regulations, attorneys and is just fun! Hope you get started on that mason jar quilt...a long awaited project.
Ruth, I sure hope that your weather improves for Friday. And indeed, its a blessing that Ds is coming later on in the year, when we hope you will not be encountering your first snow. Good for you getting work in on the headband.
Sue, so good to learn that your foot is doing well and you are not in pain.So sorry about the cold wet weather, but I would rather have that than anything above 75 degrees.
Ruth is so right- with regard to selling real estate, a good lawyer and a good realtor will make this process so much easier and take the stress out of it. With my mom’s house. Lori, my realtor was an angel and arranged lots of things long distance for me to make my job easier. Yes, CJ- your property sale will not be simple, but its doable with good professionals. It all happens one step at a time....
Sleep well all Ginny

Hello Crafters - Hope you areall doing well today and having some nice weather. It's warmer and more humid here today, I sure did enjoy the last two days though.
I may still try to runaway so I don't have to deal with my house sale, I had thought of doing that
I found the Quilt Sampler magazine today in the grocery store, I was happy to get it since I enjoy looking at it twice a year. It's really a shame that I couldn't find it in JoAnn Fabrics, they have so many others but this one.
I went to Motor Vehicles this morning and waited in line for 40 minutes. When I got to the desk and told what I needed the guy sent me to a self-service kiosk where it only took me 5 minutes to get my permanent registration card I learned a good lesson today, always see if you can use the self-service first
Pat Sloan has finished up one of her quilt-alongs and people are posting pictures of their finished quilts/quilt tops here (scroll down):
www.ilovetomakequilts.com/2019/05/show-off-your-flower-bouquet-and-you-might-win-my-giveaway.html
I just really don't understand that fabric line that she used for her quilt. The colors just don't seem to compliment each other, but maybe it's just that I like brighter colors and jewel tones more.
Take care everyone.

you're right CJ, her's is a little drab. I like #1 and 2 and 19 and 20 best. I like brighter colors too.Yes too bad you had to stand in line for all that time to find out you could have used the self service kiosk. But who would have knownk. I usually avoid self service things like the self checkouts at grocery stores because they never work right for me. I just was buying gas for my car and it took me about 50 times putting my card in before it accepted my card and allowed me to get the actual gas
Yes we went to Walmart so sister could buy more Wyoming shirts. I'm not sure what she's going to do with all these shirts becuase she also bought some at a store she went to with dd... a more souvenir type store and bought a bunch there which she's been wearing.
It's a better day here today but still fairly cold..probably about 45. I forgot to look when we were out. My home thermometer seems to be reading completely wrong.
I did start yet another waffle stitch earwarmer last evening but didn't get that one finished as I thought I might. I got tired early and went to bed early after trying to pull out the pull out couch since dh was napping. Strained my back muscles and had to wake dh up to do it anyway. Back isn't too bad today though which I'm thankful for because I did want to get dsis to that store.
See you all later.
Oh and CJ, yes abandoning our houses is very tempting. I hate dealing with all that stuff

I didn't go to quilting today. It was a combination of things. Distance, taking care of my toe, and an isolated case of feeling lazy. I wore a shoe on Wednesday but couldn't today. Probably also a lot of avoidance of rehashing yesterday's political actions! I dislike the extreme polarization that interferes with just for fun activities.
