Ginny, I'm in the middle of changing where I have my hair cut. I don't have an appointment. I was already annoyed with my usual place. It's very close to Main Street, and parking is a problem. D has double booked several times. There's a parking lot right next to the shop, and I had parked there for several years, but it turns out that the lot is not available for D's customers. Then she raised her prices. I don't know whether it was an inner resentment or absent mindedness, but I missed my appointment three weeks ago. I had been planning to find someone new. She is probably better at cutting my hair than anyone I've ever found, but by golly if I'm going to pay that much for a haircut, I want to be treated better than an after thought. I know where I'm going to go instead. It's convenient, but I don't have a clue about any of the stylists who work there. An added advantage is that they have all sorts of extras, so it's a one stop pampering possibility!
Somehow or other I've lost a day. It was noon before I realized that it's only Wednesday.
This morning I bought more mulch and potting soil.

Hello Crafters Ruth - I'm sorry to hear your trip was so terrible, they are supposed to be fun. I've had a wiper break while I was driving (on the driver's side) and it was tough to get to a place where I could pull off the road safely, so I feel for you. For those wanting to see some more Royal Ascot photos from yesterday, here are links for some Getty Images: www.gettyimages.com/search/2/image?events=775354630&family=editorial&sort=best - there are 2 pages here, you can click for the next page at the bottom www.gettyimages.com/search/2/image?events=775356499&family=editorial&sort=best - there are 6 pages here to see It was hot here today, in the 90s and supposed to be the same tomorrow and then we get a break from the humidity. I guess the plants are loving the rain we've been getting. Take care everyone!

good morning, today I want to go get my amber color sunglasses. they will fit over my regular glasses. think I will like these better.
I have always had dark blue or black. I can't get the dark poloraid ones other wise I can not see how fast I am going down the interstate.
they are to dark.
when we get back I hope to start cleaning up the playpen area
make room to do some cutting.
I still need to put the sack of fabrics I loaned Joyce away. why do we put things off and then want to do it all at once?
enjoy the day today, that's all we can do.phyl

Good morning!!
Phyl, so sorry that the borders are not working out on your quilting project....sometimes its best to start over and try again. I am sure you will get it figured out!! Safe travels today, and I hope you find time to straighten up your playpen area so you can start the next project.
CJ-yes this humidity is a nightmare. Its just not comfortable out there, and much better inside with AC. I too have heard that this weekend the humidity drops to normal levels- a welcome change. Hope you can stay comfortable. Thanks for posting the pics from the Royal Ascot. I watched the beginning (when the queen and others of the royal family) and a bit of the racing. Not so into the racing, but I will be sure to check out the links you posted of the pictures.
Ruth, safe travels home. I am sure it will feel good to get back
Actually got a little bit of sewing in last night. Off to visit the grandkids in a little bit. G

Hello Crafters Ruth - Glad you had a better day yesterday, hope today is good too. Phyl - Hope you were able to get your sunglasses and to get the fabric put away. Ginny - I'm glad you were able to get some sewing in yesterday, enjoy visiting with the grandkids. It's still hot and humid here, but supposed to be better tomorrow. I've still been watching Royal Ascot and enjoying seeing the "atmosphere". Otherwise I haven't done much. I did play my piano a bit the last few days. I took lessons as a child and teenager. I wasn't that good at it, so I just play for my own pleasure. I need to do it more often since I'm sure it helps my brain to do something different. Take care everyone!

Hello everyone. Dh and I are safely back at home and I'm so thankful for that. Every day I see mention of yet another person in our state dying in a car accident. CJ, I'm glad to hear you're enjoying the festivities in England. I've always wanted to be able to play a piano. My mother could play some and I remember when she played the piano in church a few times way back on probably late 40's or early 50's. My best friend in HS played. We never had a piano and I never got to take lessons.I thought of it when I got older but even then I didn't have a piano so just never got that done. Ginny, I hope you can get to some sewing. Have a great time with the grands. It's such a blessing to have them so close. My older ones lived near us when they were little and at times lived with us. Phyl, Yes I probably would do like Ginny said and have one project that I worked on only at sit and sew.At least then I would know what to take to the meetings...otherwise I would procrastinate and not be ready when the time came to go to the meeting. AT Caps for Kids it was easy because even if I forgot my yarn and hooks there was always donated yarn and hooks available. In fact the leaders of the group were always trying to get us to take more of the yarn home because people were really good about donating it to us and the cupboards were always full and the leaders had a bunch in their homes also. The trip back was great. Weather was perfect.I did get very tired though because I'm old but now I'm resting and crocheting and watching my recorded Columbos. Oh and while gone I was reading a book...cozy mystery in which the characters are quilters. It was interesting because they mentioned various quilts and things about quilting and even had tips for choosing a pattern and fabric in the back. One quilt they mentioned was called Baltimore album. Have you ladies heard of that one. Sue how is your foot issue? Have the toes completly healed yet. I never was really able to find a good hairdresser. When I was young my hair was very fine and I had a very thick head of hair which didn't cooperate when being cut or styled. Now my hair is still very fine but it's also thin. I've lost a lot over the years. And yes I wonder too if Meg reads the thread. If so, Hi Meg, we miss you!

good evening. well it almost is. lol
the clutter is put away and stashed in some places. I just have to much stuff. course there is another word I could use for stuff. just being nice, however it is true.
I will have to go through that someday. at least start. oh boy that will be worse then spring/fall house cleaning. will just do a little when the mood hits me.
I did get the table in the spare room cleaned off and my go to machine is now on there. so I can sew I want depending on the projects. my big machine is in the family/playpen area.
the last two weeks projects is what I have been taking to sit and sew. .problem is I came home and didn't look at it till the night before the next sit and sew.
In September I am going with Nita to her old quild's retreat in ILL.
SO need to get stuff ready for that. I know I what to take. BOY DO I have to get things going. I the fabric a year ago last april at msqc. was going to have it done for Hannah last Christmas.I know I will not get it all done there. need to take some small projects for when I get Tried of it.we will be in Peru iLL. . don will be here keeping the home fires burning.
THEN November is our guild's retreat. that is only 30 miles from home.again don gets a break from momma.phyl

It's snowing! The temperature isn't supposed to go below 40 tonight. I hope that's correct! The TV isn't working .... too much cloud and snow interference.
Ginny, both of the toes are still sensitive. One of my quilting friends walks most of the time, her preference. I wish I could do the same. By the way, one of my recent discoveries is knee high socks by Pro Compression. They look like regular knee highs. A lighter compression - but really helps. The listed price is $50, but they are forever having specials which brings the price down to $20, once you are on their mailing list.
The friend who invited me to the quilting group almost two years ago is on Hospice now. This is moving very quickly.

My post went off into cyberspace but what I said was wow, Sue, snow in late June? I sure hope it doesn't come down here but the wind is blowing very strongly and when that happens anything can happen. Also I'm sure sorry to hear about your friend.

Good morning all!
Hi To Meg, Sue and Becky- we miss each of you and are hoping to hear from you as soon as you can join us.
Ruth, welcome home! No, never heard of the baltimore album quilt, but I will be sure to check it out. All in all, was it a good trip?
Phyl- well we all have too much something- yarn, fabric, craft supplies....sure sounds like you have a very busy year ahead, Yup, think getting organized is. Good idea and perhaps have each project in its own plastic box ready for travel. Then all you need to pack in addition is your cutting supplies and machine.
CJ- glad you are enjoying the Royal Ascot! Always nice to have something you truly enjoy to watch on TV. I enjoyed seeing the pictures (boy they sure photograph Kate a lot!). Something nice to watch to take us away from the daily routines we find ourselves into. Hoping we both see less humidity.
Other than crafting with the grandkids, I got no crafting time in yesterday at all. Hope to work on the quilt block this am. Got some errands to run. BBL Ginny

Phyl, having things organized is such a good feeling. I organized my dh's closet this morning. He has enough clothing for about six men at least. He did let me put two pairs of jeans and slacks into the donate bag. Both were brandnew with tags still on them. My craft cave is semi organized and my closet is organized but I have too much "stuff" too. Now we're the same age so I know I'll never use all this yarn and fabric in my lifetime either.
So now that we're back home the truck saga continues. After having the truck at the Ford dealer where I bought it they finally found the problem just yesterday after having it for 9 days. Unfortunately what they found can't even be repaired there. I have to take it to the HOnda dealer and the Ford service person said it will cost at least $1250. I doubt the Ford dealer is going to pay for any of it since they sold it as is and even though it was sold with this serious problem they undoubtedly will not take responsibility. My worry is that after spending yet another $1250 is the Honda dealer going to find other problems. WE'll find out I guess.I left a message for the salesperson so we'll see what they have to say when she gets back to me
So speaking of yarn and fabric, I ran into a Hobby Lobby while away and of course I had to go in and see if they had any of the clearance yarn there that I've heard about for a couple weeks and bought some of here. Luckily they didn't have much but what they did have that I could use, I bought, so added to my already too large stash.
