GOOD MORNING. we had a great time with our kids yesterday.Jeana sure is a great grill cook. she did the chicken and steaks on our old weber grill. the potatoes on our gas grill. family stuff like yesterday always makes me wish Mike,Nancy and Nathan were here.
yesterday we had lunch at Grizzly's. for father's day they knocked 2.00 off the salad price.
THEN we went to penny's. the purse I was looking at was 50%$ off, found a wallet for 50%$ off .Don got 6 pairs of socks. So with the sale prices,25% off coupon anda10 dollar rewards coupon I got all 3 items for just under 40 dollars.not to bad. I don't usually hit sales that good.
today I will get ready for sew day. sure hope I sleep good tonight so I don't feel like not going.
Theresa was showing me where her dear sister got her going on a Pat Sloan's club.one where they show quilts, blocks and the posters can ask questions. don't remember the name of that club. Theresa said it is driving her nuts.I told here then don't go on it. there is star pattern we both like. will have to see if we can find it. not sure if Pat's patterns are in the stores. mmmm wonder if the pattern is in one of her books. phyl

Ok my post just vanished into cyberland!
Phyl, sounds like you and Don had a lovely day. Great sales/specials at Penneys!! Glad you were able to enjoy a nice meal at Jennas and that she is such an awesome cook. Sorry that you were missing Mike, Nancy and Nathan. Those big family holidays always make us want those who are unable to join us for one reason or another. Pat Sloan has some neat patterns, but if this one is causing you agita I would find another pattern and move on. Perhaps get a book out of the library to find a nice star pattern.
Movie was horrible yesterday (our kids liked it though) dinner was nice. All in all a good day for Dh. Ruth, don’t go too nuts packing and cleaning.
CJ, unfortunately its humid here too. Hope you are staying comfortable. Today the new spare tire is installed, right?
Sue- between the dogs, dh and your feet you have a lot to care for. Hope you are having a good day.
Babysitting for all 3 grandkids.....busy day. Ginny

Phyl, you really did get some good bargains there. I haven't been to a Penny's store in years. We have one and it's at the one and only mall we have. At least I think Penny's is still open but don't know for sure. I haven't been to the mall in years either. I don't need anymore purses or wallets but the ones I do have were from Penny's years ago...never used. Last one I bought was at Kohl's years ago. It was never used either. I did donate some with tags still on them.Dh is always buying socks even though he's got many, many that he hasn't ever even worn.
Ginny, is this the last week of school there? Very soon the wedding will take place too and you'll have time on your hands that you won't know what to do with.
Kind of an overcast day here but it looks like the sun is trying to shine. It's been humid here too but not as humid as it is where Ginny and CJ are. Yesterday in the evening the humidity was 64% which is way higher than our normal summer humidity of 10 and even lower sometimes.
Yes just getting last minute things done and I can't wait till I get back and can get life back to same old, same old. I'm a boring person and I like it that way.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Ruth - Thanks for sharing your thoughts and info on the online billing for accounts, I'm glad you are comfortable with all the "modern" ways of this type of business. I logically know it's a very sensible way to take care of our business, but the OCD and distrustful part of me is not ready to take a chance on someone getting at my money or accounts I do get all of my banking statements online and I do print off hardcopies Seriously though, I'm working more at getting some of my bills online, but I still pay them by check. Phyl - Glad you had a good time yesterday, hope you enjoy the sew day tomorrow. I still get all of Pat Sloan's emails and I look at her stuff, but after that one 6 months quilt along I did with her, I really don't want to do another. Ginny - Sorry you didn't like the movie, they cost so much these days! Glad you enjoyed the dinner and I hope that you enjoy the time with the grandkids today. I went out early this morning for my appointment to get the spare tire and kit installed. It only took about 30 minutes. They guy who installed it was telling me that a lot of the newer cars aren't including the spare tire and kit anymore. We both agreed that it feels safer having one in the car. After I left there I mailed bills and put gas in my car. I need to read my manual because I can't tell if I have a trip odometer or not. I miss that because I liked to reset it when I filled up to see how many miles per gallon I was getting. The meter on my dashboard shows how many miles I can go on what gas is in the tank, which is nice, but I'd like to see the accumulated mileage between fill ups. It is so hot here today. It was 90 degrees (felt like 100) on my weather station when I got home this morning at 11:00. I came in and closed everything up and turned on the portable AC which does cool it off pretty well. I don't like getting up so early though, it messes with my schedule which is more of a late morning rise and bed at 12:00-1:00AM. But I have to get up early the rest of this week because it's Royal Ascot week - yeah! NBCSN network broadcasts live from England each morning stating at 8:30 AM and the first thing that happens (by 9:00) is the carriage processions onto the racetrack carrying the Queen and other members of the Royal Family. I love to see what they are wearing and just the whole "very British" atmosphere. So it's worth getting up early for Hope everyone gets some crafting in and has a great day!

Ruth, I am right there with you, I prefer the same old same old..... i would take your humidity anyday . Right now the huimidity is 75%....and will get worse. Air conditioning is running to keep it from feeling too miserable. My Dh buys new jeans even though he has plenty of good pairs in the dresser. I recently just got rid of some ancient jeans to make room. He has a lot of pair...my guess is about 10 pair. No this is not the last week of school, that is next week. I confess to being a bit battle weary, between babysitting, working and the wedding. Safe travels to you and Dh whenever you leave.
Phyl, Yup you have a bit of a conundrum regarding the location of the computer and the printer and the availability of the pattern.
Dd should be home shortly. Kids have been pretty good.....DGD#1 is not 100%- she has a low grade temp. I feel bad, they have been sick a lot this year. G

CJ- so sorry I missed you earlier. Glad that the spare tire is taken care of and I completely agree, having even a mini spare is better than nothing and can at least get you to a safe spot. Check youtube on how to set the trip odometer. Most cars do have one, but its just a lot of work figuring out all the nuances of a new car. Youtube takes you right to where you need to be.... As far as online bill pay goes, many of my bills are now online. I have gotten to the point where a lot of my bills are charged to a credit card, so I get “points back” for all charges. And I pay off all our charges each month....so it works out fine. The only bills I still mail in are those I can actually drop off at a location in town, so that I am not relying on the mail to lose the check or deliver it late. I too would love to watch the beginning of Royal Ascot week!!! Probably will not be able to, but it sure sounds like fun. I wonder if I can search online for some coverage of who is wearing what.
Trying to figure out if I have the energy for Bible study. Its been a long day already. Yes its hot and humid here and the AC is running. Is it October yet? Ginny

CJ, when I got my new car the trip meter was visible on the dash but the odometer wasn't. When I went in for my first oil change they asked for mileage and I told them I couldn't find the odometer so he explained that when cruise control was turned on the odometer wouldn't show and they changed it for me. I don't know why the cruise control would have been on.Now I don't know how to get back to the trip meter. Funny too is that when I had the oil change done (because they now recommend every six months regardless of mileage) my car had just over 100 miles. Still has only 190 and that's only because of trips over to the dealer.Yes just google for your car make and model and year and it will show you how to get the trip meter to come on. That's what I'm going to do when I get back to my trip. I have to look up a bunch of things re this car because one of the things it does is turn off everytime you stop at a traffic signal or sign or any reason then starts back up when you put your food on the accelerator. I don't like that feature. It's supposed to save gas but it's gotta be hard on the battery.
Ginny, wow, school is lasting really late this year. I thought maybe the 21st was the last day. I do imagine you're worn out with all the things you've done since retiring.

Hello Crafters Phyl - Hope you enjoy the sit and sew today. Ruth - My new car still has low mileage too, since I normally only go out once a week Ginny - Hope the grandkids don't get sick. I appreciate the thoughts on online billing, etc. I think part of the reason I'm resistant to it is that about 15 years ago I was in massive credit card and spending debt. It was very bad. I cracked down and it took me almost 4 years to get out of that debt. I tracked every cent I spent for awhile, I didn't buy anything but necessities, no trips, etc. It was a tough time and it mad me very aware of my bills, income and other spending. Giving up control in any way makes me very anxious. So I've just accepted that I have issues For those wanting to see some of the fashions at Royal Ascot today, here are a few links: www.hellomagazine.com/royalty/gallery/2019061874321/kate-middleton-joins-the-queen-ascot/18/www.townandcountrymag.com/society/tradition/g28083281/royal-family-ascot-fashion-opening-day-2019-photos/Take care everyone!

We're about to have another T storm. Short is okay for now. I still have t had to turn on the sprinklers!
Today I'm working on sorting out paperwork and listing phone calls I need to make. Lots of them. Do you ever feel like your mind isn't working quite right because you need a haircut? That's how I feel today!
Tomorrow is quilting day. Again! I don't have any idea where the other days of the week are going! hb needs to see the dermatologist and the audiologist.

Same here CJ, just about 18 years ago I had huge credit card debt too. We sold our truck to pay some of it off and the rest just plugged along. It helped that I was collecting my NYS retirement and also still working here. Now we're very careful. We never were big spenders but with car and house payments and raising teenagers it all added up. Thankfully we have no credit card debt at all now. In fact we do like Ginny mentioned yesterday, pay and buy with credit card and pay it off each month and get rewards.
The trip was terrible. We really should have turned around and went back home but of course dh didn't want to do that. So here it is just after 4 and we're already ensconced in a motel for the evening. Hopefully tomorrow's weather will be better. At one point it was raining so had I couldn't see at all. I had to pull over.I can't see in the rain anyway but this was more like a torrential downfalland it just kept getting worse. Then the windshied wiper broke. I started praying. It was only thru God's Grace, Mercy and protection we got here in one piece. Dh got out in the rain and put the wiper back together so when it slowed up a little we drove on , wipers were falling apart again and soon it was bright and sunny and bone dry. Thankfully we did stop while it was sunny and put on the new wipers we , again thankfully, had bought recently and had in the van ,because it started raining again extremely hardand kept that up till we finally stopped here. Now it's clear again. This evening I plan on playing computer games and crocheting.
Have a good evening all

Oh dear Ruth!!! So glad you and Dh are ok!!! Must have been divine intervention that you made it through ok with all the torrential rain. Prayers for a lovely day tomorrow and a peaceful evening in the motel.
Sue, do you have an appointment to get that much needed haircut? Yes, I do understand, somehow when we see a disheveled mess on our heads (how I look before a much needed trim) it impacts how I feel. Hope you get your week figured out and can accomplish all you need to do.
CJ- well what I love about all bills on the credit card is just that- I can easily see what is going out. But its a personal decision and does take a leap of faith to get the system set up. What i do love is how my AMEX, sends me a text every time there is a charge (when its an automatic charge or the card is not present, as in for online shopping). its easy for me to keep track. Thanks for the links to the Royal ascot fashions! I did set it up to DVR last night.....but the DVR got messed up on another show I wanted to watch. WHo knows if the Royal Ascot recorded or not. Been too busy today to check.
Phyl, hope that sit and sew was a pleasant time for you anyway! Like you, I would have to set myself up a project awhile before. Do you have a project that you only do at the sit and sew- ok so it would take awhile to complete, but you would never be in this pickle again. How are you sleeping?
Babysitting the grands was challenging today. Worked this am too.....Lord willing tomorrow will be sane and Dh in a good mood. Probably will not get to sew until tomorrow. GInny

CJ- I really enjoyed checking out the pictures of the Royal Family yesterday. Thanks for providing us the links! And I hope that the nasty rumors about William cheating on Kate are false. I know that is accepted in those circles....but I had hoped that Diana’s boys learned from their fathers mistakes.
No crafting yesterday, other than checking out craft ideas for the grandkids tomorrow. Today will be a bit quiet, and I hope that I can spend some time at the machine today. Ruth, thinking of you and Dh on your trip and hope that its going well.
Sue, Becky, Meg and Phyl- I am looking forward to hearing from each of you and hope you are doing well. Gee, I wonder if Meg ever reads the posts, even if she is not herself posting with us. Hope so!!! Miss you Meg GInny
