I do NOT think this was a disaster for the Democrats as trump seems to think it was. I wish they would impeach. Only because it would irritate trump so much, not because I think anything would come of it. It would never pass the Senate. They will have to wait until trump is out of office then charge him with conspiracy.
Mueller DID lay out a case for conspiracy.

Well, now that its over, nothing really changes, does it? Both sides will still spin what they believe, the JA will yell No Collusion, No Conspiracy, & completely Exonerated. His enablers will still back him & the Dems still end up where they started, trying to decide to Impeach or not. ....SIGH! Yes, it's just the same old merry-go-round, and we didn't even switch horses on it. Frankly, I'm just tired of the whole mess. I hope that doesn't mean I've capitulated to the JA, as I would listen to these hearings everyday for the rest of my life before I'd willingly do that. LOL It seems to just be an exercise in futility. You either believe the truth or you drink the Kool-Aid, and evidently Dems most likely are too afraid of taking a chance on the election to take a stand. I don't want to risk losing the election either, but maybe people would have more faith and trust if we just stood up and called this exactly what it is. There was most definitely obstruction, and in my opinion there was a conspiracy to hide the truth from the American people, and whether there was actual collusion with Russia or not they surely came awfully damn close. For sure they colluded among themselves to hide the truth. It's almost like watching a ping-pong match. On one end of the table the JA is shouting that the report exonerates him. On the other end of the table he's shouting that he whole thing was a hoax and a witch hunt.

I just don't understand Mueller. I am trying to give him the benefit of the doubt and believe that he believes by not being more forthcoming and not stating his definitive opinion he is doing what is best for the country, but in my opinion it is anything but in the best interest of the country. If he had just in his report stated clearly what he believed the facts pointed toward, then it would have still been up to Congress what to do with that opinion. He would not have been usurping any of Congress's power as he seems to think. In my opinion, he would have just been doing his job. What's the point of having a special counsel if the special counsel was not going to draw a conclusion. I wasn't expecting to get any more from him yesterday than what was in the report. But I do believe he did the entire country a grave disservice in not stating clearly for the record in his report and in his testimony what he believed the facts indicated even if he felt those facts were circumstantial. We didn't ask him to impeach or not impeach. We did ask him to report the facts and make a conclusion based on them. In very large part we're stuck with this JA now because Comey came out and made a statement when he should not have done so, and we may very well be stuck with him for a second term because Mueller didn't make a statement when he should have. Ironic, isn't it?
I'm also sick and tired of everyone in Washington basing every decision on their own political best interests. This can't possibly be what the founding fathers envisioned. And I'm sick and tired of the citizens who let them get away with it. OK, off my soap box now.

I think the function of congressional oversight has been rendered moot. There is no longer consensus on basic facts. Even our national security, the last bastion of bipartisanship, has become subject to the whims of political expediency.
Thoroughly depressing.

Pam's right that it is all thoroughly depressing. We're still a long way out from the election, but I admit I am finding it very hard to maintain any hope for positive change.

"Republicans in the Senate have twice in 24 hours blocked the advancement of bills aimed at strengthening election security just hours after former special counsel Robert Mueller warned of the continued threat of foreign powers interfering in US elections." from CNN's website
Just when I think I can't get anymore disgusted, they prove me wrong. Mitch McConnell and his band of thugs is willing to sink to any level to maintain their control and keep this POS in the WH happy.

I'm not at all surprised or shocked about how those in DC have in the past and are still snuggling up to the Russians.
I know how paranoid I am but I remember clear as a bell during the campaign seeing MAGA wearing dump supporters proudly standing in front of TV cameras with "I'd rather be a Russian than a Democrat" on their tee shirts.
They all had these idiotic smiles on their idiotic faces. Laughing and having the best time. Men and women. American citizens. It made me sick and very concerned.
If Democrats are the only ones who hear the sirens and see the flashing lights of danger it's time to stick a fork in America because we're done.
I recently heard this quote.
"I see the evil you do remains with you, the good you do comes back to you."

Frida Ghitis has an interesting article on CNN's website this morning where she opines that the general miasma that this JA has engineered across the country could be what ends up actually defeating him. She says that just the fact that he makes most people feel so bad and discouraged about the country could cause them to vote him out of office. I'd like to believe that, but right now I am really struggling to find any hope. People DO feel bad across the country, but his supporters are loving it all. They enjoy seeing the rest of us "feel bad." They don't want to give that up. I want to believe he not only can be but will be defeated. I keep telling myself we're still a long way out, but I have to admit I am truly discouraged. Ronald Reagan made us believe in a shining city on a hill, George Bush told us about a thousand points of light, Bill Clinton gave us hope, and Barack Obama told us "yes we can!" I really need someone, and I think we all need someone, who can give us inspiration and hope that there is a better way and that we can get back to it. I only hope that enough people want that as badly as I do, because if we get this POS for another 4 years I think the country will be lost forever. For certain I know I will be ready to throw in the towel. I don't give him credit for the good economy as many people do. Obama brought us out of the deep recession. Trump is just reaping the benefits of that, but I have to admit he hasn't made the economy worse at least yet. But far more important to me than a good economy is just being able to believe in my country and my countrymen/women again. I want to be able to believe in and have respect for my government once again. I don't expect it to be perfect. I just don't want to have to continue being ashamed of it. Is that too much to ask?

Personally, I just thought this was really funny. I'm sorry that some poor guy lost his job over it. And the Bozo himself never even had a clue there was a problem with it even though he was standing right there beside it.

I love this! Hey, we have a fake president why not have a fake seal? In reality it truly is the perfect seal for this joke. He deserves it. Actually, he deserves a lot more like jail time but I digress. He and his worshipers have made a mockery out of America. Payback is a b!tch. This seal is, imho, very accurate for the current occupant of our House.
It's not mocking the office it's mocking the thing that is mocking the office.
I've also noticed his crowds seem to be smaller. I believe if there were more people there the cameras would be happy to show that. I've noticed that in a few other shots of him in front of his trumpsters.

I believe there are more rational decent people who will come out and vote, and end this nightmare. I do worry about voter suppression and district gerrymandering. Also the courts are now tilted to the right, and that is not going to change no matter what happens as far as the presidency. Just spare me from four more years of this tweeting!

lani, DH and I were discussing this at lunch. It's critical to get people out to vote whether they are enthusiastic about the eventual Democratic nominee or not. As the saying goes, "Vote Blue No Matter Who!" Prior to the 2016 I would have never believed those words would ever come out of my mouth, but it's my absolute mantra now.

3 million more votes were blue last time and it didn't matter. I don't have a half an ounce of faith in fair elections anymore. Especially with electromic voting machines.
I don't even recognize this place anymore. I feel like I'm in an alternate universe where common courtesy and common sense are seen as weak and silly. Where suspicion and distrust are encouraged instead of unity and harmony.
We might call ourselves the United States but it sure doesn't feel united lately.
The most troubling thing for me are his supporters. If it weren't for them clapping with him while he claps for himself, he would probably disappear. Pathetic thing needs to be adored.
I wish I didn't feel like this but I sincerely believe he's nothing but Putin's puppet.
