About Pence and the decision not to go to NH. Trump was asked and his response was "you'll find out in a couple of weeks". Yeah, we've heard that one before. Trump also claims it had nothing to do with the White House, it was a problem in NH. When the police chief in Salem was asked he said there was no problem, and no security threat he was aware of. If Trump knows, why wait a couple of weeks?
Also, loved Trump's explanation of why there needs to be a citizenship question on the Census. He claims everyone needs to be counted for proper representation and allocation of resources, but never explains WHY they need to know if they are a citizen or not. I hope whoever is looking at this today puts a final end to it and tells him "NO!". Not that Trump would let that be the end of it.

Because unless you are a citizen you deserve neither, don'tcha know? You are not a person. I would love to see how the question is framed. There are non-citizens who are here legally. We all know Trump is trying to drill down (and inflame his base) by determining who, and where, the undocumented immigrants are. Or, since they won't fill out the Census, under representing and funding those areas where they are living.

I love my Echo amyrs . Glad you will still be able to listen to MSNBC and CNN with it. Listening for the most part is all you really need with them anyway. I follow along in my car all the time on the radio with both stations, and I get just as much from it as when I watch it on TV. I'm looking forward to these next debates, and I hope at least some candidates who have no chance will perhaps go ahead and drop out by then. We need to be focusing in on those who really do have a chance to win the nomination. Biden saying he wasn't prepared for Kamala Harris's attack about the busing issue during the last debate doesn't strike me as the best way to handle that. Saying he was surprised by it is one thing, but that he wasn't prepared implies something different. But then maybe I'm just being nit picky. The Pence/New Hampshire thing is strange. Will likely add fuel to the fire of theories that the JA is considering dumping him.

What I think Biden should have said was that he was on the wrong side of history, then go on to talk about all he's down for civil rights. I think that would have gone a long way to pacify people.

Yes, luanne, that would have been a much better way to handle it. I'm surprised that with all the political experience Biden has that he didn't think of that, and I'm surprised that those in charge of his campaign didn't seem to think of doing that either.

How embarrassing but not surprising to hear what the British Ambassador reports back about this aberration occupying our presidency. We are pretty much a joke to the whole world. It's going to take a long time to earn back the world's respect and trust. But then how can we expect the world to respect or trust our government now? I don't even respect or trust our government anymore even though I desperately want to do so.

Even the Russian news is mocking JA & his pathetic 4th of July fiasco. Wonder if JA feelings are hurt that his "bro" Putin isn't defending him. I'm sure those Russian newspapers don't print anything that doesn't meet Putins approval. JA is truly the laughing stock of the world & he just continues to listens to the voice in his head telling him how great he is.

There is nothing wrong with saying I'm sorry or I was wrong. Everybody makes mistakes. Especially when we were younger. Thats why pencils have erasers.
Mayor Pete said he was wrong in the debate and got back to business. Easy peasy.
Silly excuses or lame reasons makes the problem look worse and makes you look insincere. It also can be insulting to the people you are trying to impress. "Really? You expect me to believe that? Do I look like I was born yesterday?"
I'm not sure if this oldie but goodie is true anymore. Honesty is the best policy.

I agree Pat, I would rather a politician say he made a mistake, evolved on an issue, or that he was just plain wrong in his thinking at the time. It's the dragging it out for weeks defending what he said, & then saying it because it's politically advantageous to say he was sorry. I like Biden, for the most part. I think he is sincere & has a good heart, but recently he just seems caught up in the past with segregation & women's issues & defends his position & then when news cycle turns against him, he changes & says sorry. Maybe, I'm just not seeing this issue clearly with him.

Biden is not getting off to the start everybody expected from him. Did he think he had it already in the bag and not properly prepare? He should have more political savvy than to begin with the flip flops. That's disappointing. As for his having worked with segregationists, I think everything has to be looked at within the time frame when it occurred. Segregation was abominable, but from what I'm reading recently those segregationist senators pretty much "owned" Congress back then so if anything was to get done it required working with them. Even the Kennedys found a way to work with them and so did LBJ. The reason we have such a stalemate now is that Mitch McConnell refuses to work with anybody who won't do exactly what he wants. So I don't fault Biden for working with them. I do fault him for not being better prepared to actively defend his record on civil rights, especially in the world we now live. He and his campaign people surely had to know that those issues would come up. If they didn't know that, that in itself is a concern. I like Biden. He's not my top candidate, but I would have no problem voting for him. However, I am very disappointed in the way he is handling things, especially this early in the campaign. Before he entered the campaign, I thought he might be the one who could take on Trump the best, but maybe not. He's going to have to get his act together.
Pat and Linda, I agree that I would rather a politician just tell me the truth. I liked that Mayor Pete owned up to mistakes in his city. More of them should do that. It didn't make me think he was weak. It made me think he was strong. Strong enough to admit a mistake, learn from it, and move forward to do better.
