Good Afternoon Walkers!
Yesterday we went to town, lunch at the pub, no exercise but I got some office work done & did JGTB even though I was thinking seriously of staying up. But I knew I'd just eat, and the TV watching & eating & staying up late does seem to be losing its enchantment for me, which is a positive development. It's what's supposed to happen with the mindfulness training. I ate extra snack before bed but it was DH's Skinny Pop popcorn, not the worst choice, and I stopped with that, in my yellow zone of pts 47 or <, thank you, God. So far today I'm on track for my green zone of pts 37 or <. I've had some cravings/urges to eat this afternoon but I've used the mindfulness exercises & app and so far so good. Not hungry, just itchy munchies. Noticing how that feels in my body, knowing it will pass.
This a.m. I went to a fundraising breakfast at the Community Hall & got to see & chat with lots of folks, some I hadn't seen in a long time, met some I didn't know. One of my friends teased me about my new social butterfly life coming out of my cocoon 😊DH was sleeping in, but I was up, made my usual breakfast, then hung out at the Hall for an hour and a half drinking coffee & chatting, then came home & had my breakfast.
AMY - whoo hoo for you 10K Steps & down .4 & 50.2 lbs at WI. Sorry about the GERD. Why the coughing?
Waving at everyone! Have a great day!

Good morning everyone, I had a fantastic time in Iceland. We were on a tour except for the first and last day, I would HIGHLY recommend it to anyone. It is NOT a fancy place but that is what part of the greatness is, it is just itself. Hmmm, maybe I should try to be like that, just be me! What a concept.
Have to go to church this morning, got home too late to go yesterday. If DD and baby do not go with me I will cut out early and go to ww, not to weigh!! Just to recharge myself for mindfulness. If they go it will be too much to cut out early.
Wed 5.75 Thu 5.9 Fri 7.2 Sat 5.3
24.15/250 miles
I was so close last month.
Happy belated birthday Cait.
Amy, good job on the steps.
Kelly, glad the u s was ok, sorry you have to go thru more testing. If they could just do it all at once it would be so much better.
Nancy, GFY for still being free!!! I am ImPREssED!!!

Good Afternoon Walkers!
No exercise yesterday but I did stay in my green zone of pts and JGTB. I'm marching in place now while typing and watching the snow falling outside. It's been pretty much nonstop since I got up.
I'm continuing to enjoy the mindfulness training in Eat Right Now app. Yesterday's lesson was on "taking a break" mindfully - if I'm going to eat problem foods, to really focus on the look, smell, taste, savoring, eating slowly, and noticing how it feels in my body. It should lead to eating less of it and enjoying it more, and/or becoming disenchanted with it if I find it isn't so wonderful.
I've bought "The Craving Mind" by Dr Judson Brewer which will be released Tues 3/7.
This am I tried something different - I put 1/2 tsp of turmeric in my 2/3 cup of soy milk & blended it. Not bad but I think I'll do it with 1/4 tsp next time. Looking for ways to use this healthy antiinflammatory spice more often. Planning to use it with red lentils and yams in the next soup. Maybe try it in my next hummus and in today's lunch veggie filling for DHs omelette. I already get flax seed in there for him 😀 I mix it into the egg & it helps hold the egg together.
RUTH - Welcome back! Wow! Somehow I missed that you we're going to Iceland. Sounds like you are back and hitting the path running ;-)
AMY - glad your finances will be better. I did Nutrisystem once but did not like it. Processed foods. Not really practicing healthy eating with real foods. Waving at everyone! Have a great day!

Good evening,
Amy good with your steps. Congrats on the loss.
Ruth so glad that you enjoyed your trip.
Cait GFY staying in your zone and JGTB. I have tried adding turmeric to my cooking but am not consistent with it. So I take the capsules daily. And I think it helps. i bet the snow is beautiful.
I walked two miles yesterday and two miles this morning. The rest of the day I cleaned yards and weeded my flower beds, it was a beautiful day 83*. I had over 18,000 Fitbit steps.so I had another busy day.

Good morning. Yesterday didn't do too much, DD went to church with me so no WW. I went to the rock gym in the afternoon. I have not been climbing in over a week and I like to go 3 times a week, ideally anyway. I wasn't as bad as I thought but next week I am going out to Nevada climbing and I don't want to be totally out of practice.
2.8 miles yesterday
26.9/250 miles
Cait, putting the turmeric in the soup sounds like a great idea.
Amy, I can't wait to retire.
Nancy, wow!! 18000 steps GFY!!!

Good Morning!!
I had a busy weekend. Eating was fair. No exercise yesterday I took a day of rest other than doing some laundry and getting my hair done.
My 10 lb throw done Challenge starts next Monday. I hope the Challenge keeps me motivated and I actually lose some weight by the end of it. It runs for 10 weeks.
Ruth: Welcome back. I am glad you enjoyed your trip.
Nancy: Awesome job with your miles and steps.
Amy: Try avoid drinking the water with your meals and drink it between meals. Drinking water with your meal can increase the symptoms of GERD. You need an acidic stomach environment in order to digest food. When you drink water with meals, stomach acid is usually diluted, which leads to incomplete digestion of food. Undigested food may stay longer in your stomach, which can increase acid reflux symptoms. Drinking water with meals also over fills your stomach, which can cause the LES muscle to open and allow stomach contents to leak into the esophagus. That is most likely way you cough as the stomach secretions come back up.
Cait: Good job on JGTB and staying in your green zone.
Waving to all. Happy Walking and skinny vibes.

I am going to social Security office 10 minutes early before it opens to give some information required for retirement. I may not have earned enough to get retirement. I would like then disability on my record.rather than my fathers.

Good Morning Walkers!
I stayed up late last night and ate some of DHs pretzels but stopped. I did march in place 1 hour = 3 miles while reading and posting.
We had 2 power outages around 4 am which made noises so I was awake an extra hour or so.
It's still snowing - most of yesterday's accumulation melted and slushed and I push-Broomed the rest out of the way on the front deck so I could get firewood.
This am I was up early for an 8:30 work appt by phone and made a giant pot of soup before 8:30! Red (orange) lentils, millet, yams, cabbage, zucchini, onions, garlic, turmeric, black pepper, garam masala, cumin. It smells & tastes great 😀. We have at least one day left of the black eyed pea soup so this one will have time to marinate in the fridge. It just seems to get better.
RUTH - wow, climbing and yoga - you are really active. GFY!
KELLY - great info re GERD avoidance. GFY with the 10 lb 10 week challenge & DOR Day Of Rest
NANCY - I've thought of using turmeric capsules but would rather do it in food. I use curry powder most days in my lunch mix when we're at home. 83F sounds incredible! Next week we should be in SoCal where it should be in the 70's F. It will be a welcome change but I will miss my mountains and river and the quiet.
AMY - you need 10 years of work to draw on your own SS work record.
Waving at everyone! Have a great day!
