good morning, I joined WW in Jan and found this board. I would love to join this challenge, I need motivation. In good weather with daylight I was doing 4-5 miles per day, but I struggle when it is so dark and cold. My dog will love more walking

Good Morning Walkers!
No exercise yesterday but I did stay in my green zone of pts and JGTB. I had a small urge to stay up late, but I remembered the poem about the hole in the sidewalk and to "walk down another street."
The "faces" group was fun and tasty healthy lunch. I won't see them for 3 weeks-1 month as We're getting ready to leave Saturday for SoCal.
The mindfulness lesson today was because the willpower (prefrontal cortex) goes offline when we're tired or stressed, and older primitive parts of the brain take over, including old habits, we can make a new habit of a mindful pause before eating and be curious and aware. "What's going on in my body right now? Why, what and how am I eating?"
HIKER - Welcome! It's great to have you with us. It'll be good for you & your dog. The cold and dark are hard to adjust to - I do miss walking outdoors - but it will be better soon. Where are you located? I'm in North State CA and part time in SoCal. I used to get 4+ miles per day but now after 2 hip replacements I settle for aiming for 3 Miles and with breaks, averaging 2 miles per day.
VELDA/MSDELISLE - GFY with the steps for work & finishing the last challenge with great miles! {{hugs}} {{Velda}} {{Gumbo}}
KELLY - Whoo hoo for you OP & 5 Miles! That am WO is working for you.
RUTH - sorry about the leg cramps & missing yoga
Waving at everyone! Have a great day!
Cait
Focus For March - "Mindful Eating"
250/169.2/145 160.7 is my first 10% goal since my high weight 178.6 in July 2016
WW lifetime 11/4/2003 (In range - Lifetime goal 169)
Overeaters Anonymous since 3/5/2008
- An urge is not a requirement. It will pass if I let it - The goal is to eat healthy balanced meals in moderate amounts one day at a time
My Healthy Habits: - Stick to my Plan of Eating. Aim for green zone of pts 37 or fewer; only occasionally go into higher zones, & never over 67; avoid sugar and salted snack foods - Pray & meditate, read, share (12 step & mindfulness work) - Exercise - Work during work hours - No snacking after planned evening snack of about 4 pts - JGTB around 10 pm but not later than around 11 pm

Hi Everyone!
I made it back. We have been enjoying temps almost in the 80s and they are saying we might have snow flurries this weekend! Not happy but I will survive!
KELLY, hope you get answers about your pain flare ups. WTG with doing the WATP videos! Good luck with your throw down challenge.
AMY, great job getting 10K steps a day and the 50.2 pound total loss. Glad you found your Fitbit. Hope the job at Target works out. I applied for my social security online on February 12 and because I requested it to start effective January 2017, I have received payment for the first two months and regular payments will start in April. Every extra bit of money coming in helps.
NANCY, yay to you for reaching lifetime and staying free at WW.
CAIT, a happy very belated birthday. Good you took advantage of your day and enjoyed a day of entitlement. It's only one day and well deserved. Love the poem.
RUTH, glad you had a great trip to Iceland. Have fun in NV next week. I need some of your energy. I've never been climbing. Yes, Gumbo is my dog. A few years ago I used to walk 100 miles a month and he used to get 250-300 miles during each challenge. He does not have hip sockets and is in pane due to bone rubbing in bone and he has arthritis in left rear leg. He wants to walk but tires very quickly due to the pain. He had surgery on one hip and I am going to try getting the other one done this summer. Breaks my heart that he cannot walk much anymore.
Welcome HIKER! Glad you are joining us.
Have a great evening. See y'all later.
Velda

Ruth: Sorry you had cramps. Hope you are better today.
Velda: So glad you are back. Winter does not want to let go.

Good morning and thank you for the welcome, I am in NH, out in the woods where we have no sidewalks, street lights or lines in the road. A bit dangerous to walk before daylight, the few cars often are in the middle of the road and hurrying along. In spite of the horrible wind here we got our walk in after work. I went back through my Fitbit and as of last night I have 13 miles so far this month. i love the challenges as it pushes me to do more.

Good morning. I didn't go to the gym today, yesterday they said we were going to have this big storm come thru so I didn't want to drive in it if it was not necessary. So now I am supposed to fly out of here to Las Vegas very early Tuesday morning and they are calling for a nor'easter!!!!
Velda, welcome!!! Dogs are a good reason to walk.
Cait, it was great you had a fun, healthy and tasty lunch with your friends. Sometimes that is not easy to do.
Velda, my dog had some problems with her knee and her back, it is heartbreaking! It is also something that makes you not walk if they can't go.
Kelly, isn't this the craziest weather ever???

Good afternoon,
Kelly , girl you are making up for lost time with the WATP, GFY!
Velda good to see you back. So sorry about your dog.
Welcome hiker. I am Nancy, I live in the SW part of Texas. Our temps have been in the eighties, which probably means that we will bake this summer.
Ruth maybe you will miss the nasty weather. Hope so and have a fun trip.
Amy GFY with your steps. I hope the nutri system works out for you. My uncle was on it for a while and lost over fifty pounds.
Cait have safe travels, bet you will be glad to see your grandchildren.
I walked two miles yesterday, one mile on the TM and one mile with the dog and GD. Today I walked the TM two miles and walked the dog one mile. She is getting better on the leash. But not much the car, might not like GS's driving. I will have to tell him that.lol My son cleaned us a good place to walk. Our houses are on about twelve acres of land, so he took the maintainer and cleaned off most of it. He was afraid we would get on a snake ,it is time for them to start coming out. And it was grown up with weeds. Hiker I live out where there are not street lights also. I live just off the loop road , so it is paved and the one in front of my house is and very busy. But to the east and north of me are dirt roads. Now I have to figure how many laps around the pond makes a mile. Hope you all have a great week end.

Good Evening Walkers!
Yesterday & today I marched in place while reading 1 hour = 3 Miles each day. Leaving early in the morning for 12-13 hour drive, 750 miles to SoCal. It's in 70's F pretty steadily in Long Beach CA where we are headed. Leaving 30's-40's-50's F here in North state CA.
VELDA - {{hugs}} for {{Gumbo}}
RUTH - enjoy LV! DH is watching March Madness men's college basketball including PAC 12 tournament from new T-Mobile arena behind NYNY.
KELLY - WTG OP & 4 Miles! Take good care of yourself on the weekend. I know it's a touchy time.
HIKER - making a good start on your goal! At home in North State CA we are out in the woods, in the mountains, on a river. In SoCal we are in a city.
AMY - sorry about the job :-(
NANCY - thanks for the good wishes. Glad your son is trying to help you avoid SNAKES! Yes I'm excited to see DGDs & DDs. DGD Payton age 5 is in TBall and DH is so excited to see that. She has never hit off the tee because she slugs it from the pitched ball! She called tonight via FaceTime to show us her Troll village :-)
Waving at everyone! Have a great day!

Good Morning Everyone!
I am not sure how I will do it, but I will reach my 12k step goal today. Our almost 80 degree temps of last week have dropped to the 30s and I am not going out. No exercise yesterday. Meeting in the morning, soup and salad for lunch with a friend, dinner at church fish fry then to the community theater to work.
KELLY, great job staying OP and doing WATP workouts. Hope your success continues through the weekend.
HIKER, I am in western TN. There are many bike and walking trails here but I mostly walk in local parks and just bike through my little town since the streets are wide enough to accommodate to cycle in peace with the cars. Max speed anywhere is 30 mph and cops are everywhere. Fitbit is a great motivator. I have mine set to prompt me to move every hour between 8 am and 8 pm.
CAIT, great that you were able to have a healthy and fun lunch with friends. Have a safe and fun trip.
RUTH, sorry about your dog. I do walk less because I feel guilty leaving Gumbo behind. Now that the weather will be warming up soon, I will try to take him out for whatever he can do at least every 2 or 3 days.
NANCY, LOL about dog not liking GSs driving. Awesome that GS cleared a walking path for you. Hope you don't see any snakes.
AMY, sorry about the job. If you only need one quarter, don't give up. There is something out there for you.
The Bishop is coming to our parish for Confirmation today and there is a potluck afterward. I have to help set up the Family Life Center for the meal. I also need to decide on what to bring. I don't feel up to cooking so I might pick up a fruit tray at Kroger.
Waving at everybody! Have a great weekend.

Good Morning Walkers!
We're on the road again -12-13 hour drive from home in North State CA to SoCal for a 3-4 week stay. We get to see the DGDs & DDs! đ
Yesterday I did march in place while reading 1 hour = 3 Miles but I didn't JGTB and ate some of DHs popcorn âšī¸ but stayed in my red zone of pts and didn't go over. NSV for me. Not pretty but it's progress.
Day 27 of Eat Right Now mindfulness training today - lesson was about doubt and he pointed out that we have "evidence based faith" that we can do this, that we are getting better, and that it takes a lot of practice to make new habits and let go of old ones. He gave this quote which I've never seen before and I love:
"To choose doubt as a philosophy of life is akin to choosing immobility as a means of transportation." Yann Martel "Life of Pi"
VELDA - awesome goal 12k steps. Enjoy your many social events, you butterfly you! đ
Waving at everyone! Have a great day!
