Affirmation: I am zestful
Mind: zippy
Body: zaftig moving toward svelte, hopefully
Spirit: zealous
Gratitude: zillions of things
And...that brings me to the end of the alphabet...taking a bow
Today hubby asked what we are eating for lunch. I am not 100% sure. We have cucumbers and zucchini in abundance and some cabbage I could cook...think a worm was eating its way through the leaves so some leaves need trimming and it should be cooked. I also have some potatoes so MIGHT do stir fry or a potato with zucchini dish if I can find one online.
The three days of mourning should be ending today for the neighbors so might go shopping tomorrow or Thursday. Time will tell. We are okay for now but low on fruits, veg and wouldn't mind having some more yogurt and labneh.
MICHELLE: You are over halfway through the A-bomb Bushes - hooray! What do the dogs do while you are out there whacking away at those bushes?

Affirmation: I am healthy and happy! Mind: Strategic Body: Walking and Yoga, OP Spirit: Kind Gratitude: Small miracles
I spent the day inside again working on taming the Paper Tiger. Mostly I just managed to get the pile organized and a comprehensive list prepared of what chores were in that pile. This is a sizable list due to spending my days working outside on EMP.
Cathy: Clapping for your achievement! And it was so much fun to read your posts.

Affirmation: The universe is my friend
Mind: Open Body: Alive Spirit: Peaceful Gratitude: Abundance
Nothing new or different here. It might be a bit cooler...cool enough to sleep with the windows open and the fan blowing. The garden is slowing down so we will be buying produce when we next go shopping. My DIL and granddaughters are in the path of the hurricane but have not heard anything about how they are doing. My son is traveling so she is on her own. Sent her an email yesterday telling her we are thinking of her with a link to Hurrican Sally song and a line dance to the song...not sure how it will be accepted but did send it.
MICHELLE: I am glad you have the papers sorted and a to-do list for indoor paper chores. Soon you will have finished with the a-bomb bushes and have to look for something else to work on. What outdoor chores do you have during winter?

Affirmation: Stand tall. Mind: Receptive Body: Functional fitness, Yoga, OP Spirit: Harmonizing Gratitude: Decisions
I managed to get two more of the A-Bomb bushes out of my life so now I am at 9/11ths. The dogs love to spend time outside with me. Usually Sam and Buttercup play for a while with each other using a branch in my pile. Lately I have to find a worthy stick since those A-Bomb bushes are very prickly.
I will have a lot of work still to do when I get those bushes done and most of it is written down on my gigantic list. However, I will proceed quicker since it takes five hours to do two bushes and that is working nonstop. By the time I get them done that is about all I can do in one day. I need to get most things done before the ground freezes. There is a lot of raking coming up. Also the areas are very large that need it. The four sides of the firebreak around the property need to be cut back in certain areas. I am calculating two to four days per side since I also have to haul the vegetation to the hole. One of my high school friends had another woman who worked with her on projects so they would do things like help each other paint the outside of their houses. It would be nice to have a friend like that!
Cathy: I hope your family is safe. I'm not familiar with that song, I will look it up.

Affirmation: I make healthy choices Mind: Like a sponge Body: walked 20 minutes already...more soon Spirit: at peace Gratitude: kitchen well stocked - don't need to shop today
We heard that my son's house near Mobile had minor damage and a big tree came down but fell away from the house (whew) and a citrus tree was damaged by the larger tree. My DIL and granddaughters are fine...imagine the rescue cat is, too.
MICHELLE: I bet once the a-bomb bushes are gone you will exhale a BIG sigh of relief! If you are 9/11the done with them you have five hours of work left. I am glad there are non-prickly sticks to give to Sam and Buttercup. I have always thought that having a friend to do chores with would be marvelous. We could clean one house together then the other, make fiddly recipes in double batches and share for two houses, paint, etc. It would be so much more fun to "work" with a friend!

Affirmation: Willingness is the key taht will unlock any door. Mind: Relaxed Body: Dog walking, Yoga, OP Spirit: Hope filled
I took Buttercup to get the rest of her annual shots today and was able to get some shopping done because it was quite cool this morning. It was nice to get some of that out of the way. I never have minded shopping before but since the pandemic I find it stressful. However, it is interesting how we have all adapted to this changed reality.
Cathy, Glad that your family are all fine. It sounds like it has cooled won some where you live. Our temps are going to be 10 to 15 degrees cooler everyday now.

Two times I had written here and two times what I wrote disappeared. I will say all is well here in the village. We w ill probably stay home and not shop till next week. We have sufficient enough of everything so why shop?
Affirmation: I choose health Mind: Grasps new ideas Body: Enjoying healthy food and walking Spirit: Open and accepting Gratitude: Coffee in the morning
MICHELLE: How does Buttercup do at the veterinarians? Shopping is something that used to be fun. I found, when in a line at one store without anyone social distancing, that I left my cart and left the store. Covid-19 has definitely changed what I am willing to put up with in stores and where I am willing to go these day!

Affirmation: I can do this! Mind: Resolved Body: Walking and Yoga, OP Spirit: Cautious Gratitude: Talk with DD on the phone today
Another shopping day for me. People do seem to be getting used to this atmosphere so they are becoming more friendly. I ended up being able to get all items at one store but since I was getting bird seed I had to make three trips into the store. Now I am stocked up.
Cathy: Buttercup does not like strangers. She is very shy so the vet is not a pleasant experience. Generally I just ignore odd dog behavior and pretend they are acting just fine. It's surprising how much this helps with any problems encountered. However it is definitely nice to have that taken care of for the year. Clair, on the other hand, loves people and is very friendly. I liked your story about leaving the store. Proactivity in these types of situations is the only answer. I was very happy when masks became mandatory in our state.

Affirmation: I am content Mind: creative Body: focused Spirit: constant Gratitude: counter full of preserves created from the abundant garden
I am tired of eating what we have been eating and brought up a Bittman cookbook to look through. I doubt it will have NEW ideas but it might. It is thick enough that it should, anyway! In some ways I wish I had his vegetarian cook everything book and may look for it in the future...or not...after I look through this one.
I went through the old trek to goal weight made in 1998/9 and realized that last time it took days, weeks, months to get there and that some numbers/decades lasted longer than others. It is interesting to look through and good to know that whether on that program counting points or this one...it is about the same slow slog to the number I want to see.
I have two book reviews to write and post for books that I have read. I think I have a book to read for a blog tour tomorrow so will start it after the reviews are posted.
MICHELLE: It is interesting that each fo your three dogs is so different in personality. I wonder if Buttercup will always be less eager to meet new people than Clair is? I guess it makes sense that animals would differ in temper/personality as much as people do. I am contemplating shopping next time. As the numbers increase I am less and less likely to go to a big supermarket but there are a few things I would like to pick up in the future so might venture down to the health food store in Tripoli at some point and if I do go there am thinking that if there is anything else from the large supermarket that I can't get locally I might visit the one in Tripoli. that said...doubt I will since they are considering closing Tripoli due to the number of cases of covid-19 in the city. The numbers in the country still rise with the highest ever of almost 800 in one day yesterday. So, staying near home, small village shops, not going far seems wiser.

Affirmation: I am doing my happy dance!!! Mind: Relieved Body: Functional fitness, Yoga, OP Spirit: Placid Gratitude: Good news about the fire near us
Cathy, I am so sorry about your Covid-19 woes in regard to shopping. It's bad enough even when the situation is at its best but to have so many cases is just so frustrating. I agree with you about not going out. I have enough food to skip the store for very long periods of time. I am trying to build up a stockpile now of bird food so that I can go for a couple of months without having to buy any. The other items are covered very adequately. We wouldn't have fresh veggies but I have lots of canned ones.
I finished the Atomic Bomb Bush project today with lots of help form DH. Hooray!!! And also great news about the ongoing wildfire. The percentage of containment is at 62%, a cool front came in and dropped the temps by about 15 degrees, humidity increased. The smoke cleared sufficiently so that planes can drop fire retardant and helicopters can drop water. This is all so wonderful. Many sad things about this but just the optimistic viewpoint of the firefighters is so helpful.

Affirmation: The universe provides and is there to tap into
Mind: Open Body: thinning and strengthening endurance Spirit: Interested Gratitude: Abundance and creativity to make use of it.
Today I am going to use the white beans to make either a hummus or spread and then put it on a potato or perhaps make rice and have it as the protein, make some zucchini in balsamic vinegar and a side dish of okra...hmm..so many options
Michelle: Hooray for having the a-bomb bushes gone and having your husband come out for the last few to help I am so happy that the smoke has cleared enough to assist with the fire fight and that the containment is improving! Not sure WHY my husband wanted to go two weeks between shopping trips but we will have by the time we go out again. I don't mind but don't have some of the basics so am being "creative".

Today I spent time raking up pine needles on the left side of the house. After four hours I had five huge bags that I dumped in the hole. Such a lovely day!
Cathy: I really love to have rice as a protein and also oatmeal. Love your affirmation!

Affirmation: One day at a time
Mind: agile Body: moving Spirit: bright Gratitude: cooler weather, clean sheets on the bed and crawling into them just after taking a shower
I am so ready to go grocery shopping. The garden is providing little new so the options for meals are limited. I would love a crisp green salad but am not sure if we have cabbage...know we don't have lettuce. Ah well...we ARE going shopping tomorrow and plan to buy ALL that we see that is fresh. It has been two weeks since our last trip out and the fridge is bare. I thought it would be a week an was set but...evidently not!
MICHELLE: Hooray for functional fitness chores to do outside. Do you rake using both sides or stay the same all the time. I know that sweeping, like raking, I have to switch sides periodically.

Affirmation: Let it all go...... Mind: Reserved Body: Walking, Yoga, OP Sprit: Guided Gratitude: Motivation and enthusiasm! I took Clair to her physical therapy appointment and they took some measurements etc. Now she is normal on both side so the therapy has been a big success. Also went to the dog food store and more grocery shopping. Now I have bird seed stocked up for 10 weeks so I won't worry about my bird gang starving. News flash! More Rock Doves showed up. They must have a great ESP system. This is obscure but have you ever read anything by Rupert Sheldrake? He has some interesting theories about morphic resonance.
Morphic resonance, Sheldrake says, is "the idea of mysterious telepathy-type interconnections between organisms and of collective memories within species" and accounts for phantom limbs, how dogs know when their owners are coming home, and how people know when someone is staring at them.
And also accounts for more birds showing up LOL

Affirmation: Believe -> See Mind: Focused Body: Slimming Down Spirit: Open Gratitude: Scale finally moved
Today we plan to run errands and it will probably take a couple of hours. I think we are going to five or six places before we head home again: Pay cell phone bill, pay phone bill, buy coffee, buy produce, buy chicken (different shop), buy groceries. It usually requires two or more shops to find the produce and two or more for the groceries!
MICHELLE: I have not read the author/theorist you mentioned but have heard of the theory. There is an idea (not sure who it is by) that talks about people tapping into the universal conscious (or whatever it is) and the idea residing there for any to find/use and that explains why multiple authors, scientists, inventors, etc produce similar ideas at the same time. Hooray for the birds finding you no matter how they did so. Perhaps there was a group that sent out scouts and the scouts came back to say that they had found paradise and that paradise was your bird feeders and safe haven.
