Affirmation: Life is wonderful! Spiritual: Transcendent Physical: 11,818 Steps Gratitude: Heaters
Cathy, I like your fitness about the mental agility. So glad you are enjoying your time with your daughter!
Clair and I went to the university today and did our usual. The event was two hours long but I decided that Clair will only do an hour from now on. She gives her all so gets tired more quickly. She was decked out in her Christmas finery. Those kids get the biggest kick out of her!

MICHELLE: Is your computer back so quickly? Wow, if yes! I am glad you are keeping Clair's health in mind by determining how long she will stay at support events. How old is Clair now?

Affirmation: It will be a marvelous day - blustery, cool and rainy I will be cozy inside with family. Fitness: Mentally alert and physically capable of doing what needs to be done Health: making healthy choices one by one Spiritual: My spirit is light and bright though it is a dark rainy day Gratitude: a roof over my head and food to eat
Yesterday we went to the bank to transfer dollars into a current account and request an ATM card in case banks close again. Then it was a bit of shopping followed by a huge pizza lunch. Today it is raining so think we will stay home and do a few things around here.
MICHELLE: I received the friend request on Facebook and accepted after seeing you belong to Paws4Love I had to look up The Paper Tiger of personal things...new term for me. I think someone needs to tame the one that belongs to my husband...pretty much have dealt with mine! It is marvelous having my daughter here.

Affirmation: I am centered and balanced. Spiritual: I am in tune with Universe Physical: 9,389 Steps Gratitude: People who remember the way it used to be. I like the way it is now also.
Cathy, I am glad I figured out the Facebook rigamorole. It is a definite challenge for me to do things like that. Getting my new laptop up and running with all the bells and whistles is my current project. Today I spent most of the day running errands. The wind was blowing incredibly and it was raining somewhat off and on. However I enjoyed it because it wasn't very cold. Actually there is something kind of wonderful about wind.

Affirmation Fitness Health Spiritual Gratitude
We lost electricity then the internet did not return and we were told they were "working on it" SO daughter got the cleaning bug and swept then stuffed a chicken and cooked it and then mopped. I spent time helping and cleaning the stainless steel stove top and that seemed to take HOURS!
MICHELLE: It is windy here...wind is interesting. It sounds so different depending on what it is passing through or around. Before we had trees it seemed to make less sound. Depending on the tree...a different sound for the type of leaves or lack of them. Down the chimney...another sound. Window or door that doesn't quite close...another. Wind IS interesting. Good luck with the new laptop!

Affirmation: I am successful setting intentions for 2020. Spiritual: Mellow Physical: 8,792 Steps Gratitude: Great current pop music. I am into this!!!
DH and I had to get the barricade installed to keep Clair from crawling under the main deck. That was quite a job but it is done now and looks fairly good. It had to be put up all along front of it before the ground freezes because if she crawls away from her original entry point and the ground cannot be dug out she will be stuck under there. One Christmas morning a dog we had crawled under the deck and could not figure out how to get out so DH had to tear up the deck to get her. Good grief! So glad we got that taken care of. This was the major accomplishment for the day.
Cathy, Glad you are enjoying your time with your daughter!

Affirmation: I am pondering what I will achieve in 2020 Fitness & Health: Areas I am pondering when considering what I want to accomplish in 2020 Spiritual: focusing on the positive Gratitude: having daughter here (already almost one week gone!) and talking to son and granddaughters this evening.
Grocery shopping yesterday was interesting. Over half the cart was for the cat. The rest was a loaf of bread, some tomato paste, pasta, a few tinned items, some wine, some cheese/dairy and that was about it. We stopped for produce on the way home. The day was half gone so we had leftovers for lunch then relaxed in the afternoon and evening. I did make angel hair pasta with tomato sauce and grated cheese for dinner and the day was over. The news is not so great for Beirut so I see us working around the house and deferring the trip to the city for another day.
MICHELLE: Glad to hear you got the deck dog-proof for the winter. I can't imagine losing a dog and having to tear things up to reach it. That said, did have to send for the electrician to get our cat from the top of a light pole one time...it was a metal light pole she climbed for who knows what reason and then could not figure out how to get back down again. Loved your affirmation!

Affirmation: I am on it!!! Spiritual: Homogenized and integrated
Self care: 10,956 steps, yoga last night
Gratitude: Enthusiasm
Last night while the girls (LOL) and I were watching TV I decided that Clair would like some time looking at other dogs. She just loves that, gets her bunny and shows it to the dog on the screen etc. Buttercup realized that they were dogs so when people came on she decided they were real danger strangers to bark at. I finally had to put her in the K with her PB Binkie. Maybe I created a monster.... Not too sure she isn't already as her super power is throwing tantrums.
Cathy, I thought your list of items in your grocery cart was interesting. I love to read all kinds of homemaking lists. Most fun is an item by item decluttering list. The odd junk is seriously mind boggling. Another list of major interest is items put off and the homemaking disasters they cause. I call those my "head in sand" list.

Affirmation: I will enjoy the sunshine Fitness: I will walk a few laps around the house Health: I will make healthy food choices Spiritual: I will let the sunlight nourish my soul Gratitude: I am grateful that I am able to spend time with my daughter
I hope that we can accomplish a few more items on the to-do list. The watch is on to see if the government will or will not elect a prime minister so that a cabinet can be formed. It has been a rather crazy sixty days of protests and today could be good or bad depending on what happens. We still have leftovers in the frig but think that we w ill make something new to eat today. Maybe mjudra and cabbage salad or perhaps fried rice with cabbage...we will see.
Michelle: It is interesting to me what I end up buying when I go to the grocery store. I used to always buy cheese, milk, bread, yogurt, labne, tortillas, refried beans and pasta making ingredients...those were my staples. With the economic crisis and eating a more plant based whole food vegan diet (harder this past week so vegetarian) I am not buying a lot of the things that are imported. I LOVED the difference in how Clair and Buttercup relate to creatures on the TV in such different ways. Do they ever watch animal planet or cartoons?

Affirmation: I set realistic functional fitness goals. Spiritual: In tune with Universe Self Care: 9,828 Steps Gratitude: Motivation
Cathy, I hope the political situation is resolved. My staples are oatmeal, prairie bread which is made with rice and must be toasted to be edible--one of those health nut products, and kombucha. I eat veggies once a day and do have turkey in the a.m. otherwise I make do with a very simple diet. My oil is flax seed oil and agave is my sweetener. The list of items I don't eat is long which is fine with me. My affirmation is: I have better things to do with my life than overeat and finally it came true for me. I probably overeat once or twice a year and then only by a small amount of food. My eating life before WW was very sad and it took many years to finally give up the trough.
Clair gets so excited and can't understand where the dogs are. Why aren't they outside in the yard, or in the house on and on so she only watches for a very short time before I turn it off.
I spent today cleaning and reorganizing my in home office. This was a lot of functional fitness so tomorrow I need to tone it down. However much was accomplished.

Affirmation: It will be a productive happy day Fitness: I will move more than I did yesterday Health: I make healthy choices Spiritual: I am in tune with the universe Gratitude: These days with my daughter
Yesterday we went to have a photo of my husband to submit with his request for a visa to the USA. Our daughter is working with him to fill in the online form...that has some crazy questions. We then went by the bank, checked exchange shops, looked at an outlet shop and stopped to try Arepas and Empanadas at a shop we have not been to before. My husband did NOT like the food so had something when we got home again instead. The plan is to make marmalade today or tomorrow and tomorrow my sister-in-law will be brought from a nearby village to make wara inab (stuffed grape leaves) with my daughter and I. I am still trying to make semi-smart food choices knowing that we will meet my daughter's food wishes whenever we can.
MICHELLE: I loved your list of food staples and the fact that you have finally "moved away from the trough"...hope that will happen for me, too, in the future. It sounds like you accomplished a great deal in your home office and that must feel good. Do your dogs settle in a clump and snuggle together or are they not that type of pack together?

Affirmation: Moderation in all things! Spiritual: Reflective Self care: 10,644 steps, yoga Gratitude: Hot running water. Many of the conveniences were missing when I was a young child. However I never felt poor or that we were doing without. Sometimes I think of the many things that I have now and really appreciate them. I am still on my decluttering/reorganizing rampage and am making myself think outside the box about organization. This is fun! Cathy. The dogs do settle all together occasionally when it is cold. Often Clair and Buttercup will be play fighting, running in and out of the house through the doggie doors and then the next thing I see is both of them squished into one dog bed sleeping. I took some pictures since it is so cute!
I have eaten Geek dolmas which are probably similar to wara enabs. Will they be vegetarian? Will these be able to be stored or do they have to be eaten right away? I like dolmas.

Affirmation: Today will be another wonderful day Fitness: working on it Health: wise choices Spiritual: Peace Gratitude: Family
today my sister-in-law is coming to cook with us. I hope we have everything we need. She is coming earlier than we thought so we scramble to get ready.
MICHELLE: The wara inab will be cooked and usually is fine in the frig for a few days and I *think* they will be vegetarian/vegan since we did not buy meat to put into them. Some people freeze them but my freezer is too full to sneak anything into it. Love that Clair and Buttercup are friends...the male is not part of their pack? Good luck with the decluttering.

Affirmation: Patience is being at peace with the process of life. Spiritual: Visionary Self Care: 10,827 Steps Gratitude: UPS drivers. They are the unsung heroes of American materialism. Cathy, I wish I could taste one of those! All the dogs are pals. Sam loves Clair a lot but he is kind of a big bully so I have to watch out to make sure he doesn't play with her too roughly. At seven months old, Buttercup the puppy is already more of match for him.
My hopes for a productive painting etc day were dashed because I was able to get a Vet appointment for Clair. However I did get all my Friday errands done today. I took Clair decked out in Christmas attire into Hobby Lobby with me today. She was petted often and many people commented on how cute she looks. Later we went to the assisted living facility for some visiting which we also enjoyed. Taking Clair places is a fun thing to do! Also the girls at the vet got such a kick out of her. Our mission is to "spread a little sunshine" and that is exactly what happens.
