Affirmation: I enjoy life
Mind: Positive
Body: Tough
Spirit: Accommodating
Gratitude: Family & Friends
My sister's doctor's appointment is Monday morning. I am thinking positive thoughts and hoping she will have good news. We have leftovers to reheat for lunch and a good day to look forward to. I am behind in my reading but will get it done...I hope!
MICHELLE: Olives are NOT edible from the tree! They are bitter acrid and impossible to eat. Some worms like them but humans and birds - not so much. They go to the press off the tree, are pressed, centrifuged to remove the bitter water portion and bottled. The oil is a bit tangy and mellows later. As for pickling...the olives have to be soaked in water for awhile with water changed at least twice a day. Crushing or putting knife slices in each olive will help them mellow faster when in the water. After that they go into a brine solution that is six parts water to one part sea salt and various flavorings like sliced lemons, hot peppers, fennel greens, and ot her things are added.

Another day in paradise for me. I did not do any raking which will be OK since fallen leaf production has dropped off significantly.

My sister's news is: they will follow her closely for 3 months, she needs to have an upper GI endoscopy and colonoscopy (as a baseline?), cat scan in six months, and then they will follow her less closely for 5 years. Fingers crossed all will be well at each stage of her journey!
No real news here...overcast with rain a possibility...need to make lunch so no personals today.

I seem to keep having the same type of days lately. I did finish the book about "Signs" which dealt with synchronistic experiences on a level that I found more appealing than the book I was reading before this one. This book is about ways the world beyond this one communicates with individuals who choose to stay in contact with loved ones who have crossed over. It was compelling and I can honestly say it is a book that anyone who reads it would benefit from. It was not nearly as far out as it sounds. And many, many people have had these experiences including me. Now I am reading a book about creating serendipity.
Cathy: It seems like your sister has received good news which is fantastic.

Affirmation: I make positive choices
Mind: Inquisitive
Body: Healthy
Spirit: wise
Gratitude: Creativity and the ability to use it
We are going to the bank to get information on how to wire money from the USA here should we need money in the future. We might stop by the post office to find out what happened to our packages although they are not much help. We might also have my passport photo taken or might wait to do that another day...time will tell.
MICHELLE: The books you are reading sound interesting...much deeper than the novels I seem to be reading all the time! My sister said she felt dad more the past while since her diagnosis...she didn't see him in her dreams but felt he was there. Interesting. I wondered if it was because it was the solstice time or when they say the veil is thinner...though she and I have both seen him in our dreams in the past. Love hearing what you are reading about!

Affirmation: I am at peace. Mind: Refocused Body: Walking, Yoga, OP Spirit: Serene Gratitude: Possibility Thinking.
My husband and I were reminiscing about a party we attend over 40 years ago. He actually remembered the dessert and when he talked about it I could remember it also. It's strange the amount of information a human brain stores and that it can be retrieved. I am sure glad I don't eat like that anymore!
Cathy: I am not too sure about how deep these books are. I do like to be in contact with people interested in any kind of spirituality but have gotten away from doing it so I am glad to be reading these. I am going to try to read a book about climate change activism next.

Affirmation: I make healthy choices Mind: Focused Body: Healthy Spirit: Wise Gratitude: The internet and staying in touch with friends/family through it.
We ran errands yesterday, could not get passport photo taken as photographer had no electricity, didn't eat out as hubby felt uncomfortable thinking of being at a restaurant. Finished another book and posted the review. Think there is a cookbook to review and definitely more books to read/review.
MICHELLE: It is amazing what the brain retains. I was lying in bed thinking about the last time I was at goal weight and some of the clothes I bought back then...all were given away as I gained weight but do remember them. I also remember childhood events and hot chocolate after a tobogganing event with the church but can't remember what food was served at my wedding...funny how the mind works!

Errand day for me today in a wind storm, fortunately it was not freezing cold. The wind ripped one of the gates of its hinges and broke part of it. Fortunately we replaced the roof with a metal one a number of years ago. The roof looks just like a normal one and also we don't have a tin-y noise when it rains. I had such fun talking to a couple of people when I was out and about.
Cathy: I bet you were a beautiful bride!

I spent a couple of hours with friends yesterday. They played cards but I stayed a bit away from them and opted not to play cards as two of them had been to a funeral the day before. Glad you had fun talking while on errands yesterday, MICHELLE

Affirmation: I use my sense of humor to lighten my days. Mind: Strategic Body: Functional fitness, Yoga, OP Spirit: Ethereal Gratitude: My little space heater under my desk that keeps me toasty.
Pleasant day for me. My annual doctor's appointment for my physical went very fast. I enjoy talking to the nurse that does it every year. Then I went to the hardware store to purchase a stud finder after I properly researched online which one to get. Tomorrow I am going to use it to help me find the studs in the wall so that I don't have to use hollow wall fasteners to put up some shelving in my closet. I am in the process of reorganizing it. Still reading the book about serendipity and have mixed feelings about it. The idea is that by following his suggestions a person's serendipity experiences would increase. However, on this board we seem to have a lot of these characteristics so it has been fun to understand that this happens more often than I had realized.
Cathy: Those photos are wonderful!!! Thanks for posting them. I think your wedding dress is beautiful and you were such a lovely bride. I truly mean this.

Affirmation: Beauty lies within me
Mind: Bright

Gratitude: Bounty of our garden
Went for a drive, bought a sandwich, hubby shared part of his chicken from the sandwich with a starving cat, the cat did not want my fries...poor cat. Hope to talk to son's family later. Talked to daughter yesterday.
MICHELLE: I had not thought of looking for studs in a wall BUT have lived in cement houses for so long that...well...perhaps the studs in your walls would be what we would avoid when hanging things as they are poured concrete and ruin drills...where one CAN drill into a concrete block if not a poured concrete pillar? Hmm... Glad you enjoyed some of the wedding photos. That was over 40 years ago...amazing when I think about it!

Affirmation: I accomplish all important tasks today. Mind: Relieved Body: Functional fitness, Yoga, OP Spirit: Dedicated Gratitude: Good news about my brother's improvement
Today my husband and I did most of the last round of raking for the year. I will still have to keep up the pine trees but the rest of the yard will no longer require work. Just one more day or two and I will be done. Hooray! Still reading the book about Serendipity. The author does make some interesting points about changes in thinking styles to increase noticing opportunities and also about thinking outside the box. Eleven more hours of this book which makes me curious to read more to see what else of value he might have to say. My brother had a household accident that was rather serious but is recovering from it, thank goodness.
Cathy: I agree about the fall apples--so incredibly tasty. I buy plastic containers of very small to tiny apples. Buttercup loves to eat the tiny ones. She was so cute today, I must have laughed at her at least ten times. She will insist that all of her balls have been put away when she still has on out and about. Today she got furious and let me know that she new for sure there were some in the laundry room and I better get her one right now! She can make any point by the way she looks at me and the way she barks to let me know I better shape up now!

Affirmation: Conscious choices create contentment (and hopefully a healthier life)
Mind: Curious
Body: Cooperative
Spirit: Content
Gratitude: Creativity
We went out to find olive presses that might be operating then had a sandwich. We ordered then ate outside. A starving cat came to bed so hubby offered it bites from his chicken sandwich. We talked to our children this weekend and they are doing well.
MICHELLE: I love the way you understand what Buttercup is telling you. It must be nice to know that the raking is nearly done for the year. As for apples...they are not easily found in Lebanon right now. My husband wonders what has happened to them all as exports are down recently. I told him that they are making hard apple cider, apple juice, apple jam, apple vinegar and who knows what else. There are a lot of grapes and we have some guavas so that is good.

Gratitude: Delightful Dames & Dogs that befriend me
So...nothing on the agenda for today. Posted a lot of reviews yesterday and started a new book that I will finish today. I put on an outfit and it hangs on me. This is a good thing and a bad thing. I am grateful that the pants have a drawstring or they might not stay up I need to cut my hair again...wish I had a three-way mirror as it would make it easier to see the back of my head when trimming the hair there!
MICHELLE: I hope you manage to get outside to play with the dogs and do a bit of gardening. My sister loves her time outside...not sure why that enjoyment of outside passed me by. Ah well, we are all different and wouldn't the world be a boring place if we were all the same!
