Affirmation: Calmly and serenely I face the day. Mind: Intrepid Body: Walking, Yoga, OP Spirit: Peaceful, Filled with faith Gratitude: A warm home on a cold night.
I had an errand in town and managed to get a few homemaking chores done. I heard a Christmas song that included Figgy Pudding. It doesn't sound near as appetizing as Apple Pandowdy which is another dessert I heard about on a 40s song. My favorite food song is "Long Tall Glasses" sung by Leo Saylor. Such fun to sing along to!
Cathy: I hope you hair cut turned out. I can cut mine about three times and then I need it restyled again. I do the back but have no idea what it looks like, thank goodness.

Affirmation: Eventually Everything Evolves (as it is meant to)
Mind: Effective
Body: Efficient
Spirit: Effervescent
Gratitude: Education (that I have already and the ability to educate myself on new topics if/when I decide to)
The haircut is...interesting. I really would like to go get it trimmed professionally BUT since I can't see the back of my head will just keep doing it myself. I think it looks okay and will find out today as my friends are quite open about saying what they think I will go sit with the card playing friends for awhile, not play, then leave earlier. Want to say goodbye to the daughter of one who has been visiting for a few weeks and will be returning to the USA tomorrow.
MICHELLE: I am off to listen to Long Tall Glasses...have not heard of it or if I have...am not sure what it is. I am horrible with names of people, songs, groups...a lot of things

Affirmation: Fun friends -> fabulous feelings
Mind: Fractious (sometimes)
Body: Fabulous
Spirit: Fresh
Gratitude: Fruits from the garden
Took my husband to have his booster and only this afternoon realized that instead of sitting in the car I could have walked and gotten in some exercise...duh! Ah well...
MICHELLE: It was okay with friends but again I watched and they wondered if I was depressed. I don't THINK I am depressed but the power of suggestion (their suggestion) made me wonder if I was? I know I was TIRED but not necessarily depressed. Ah well...such is life. I was fine back home in my cozy pajamas and reading a book so...probably NOT depressed My sister is going to be a grandmother...first grandchild expected end of March or first of April...think she and the soon-to-be parents are excited! I am!!!

Affirmation: I complete what I start Mind: Directional Body: Walking, Yoga, OP Spirit: Relaxed Gratitude: A different approach Such a lovely day today! The sun was shining, the birds were singing, the dogs were lazing around in the yard. Tomorrow is errand day for me if possible. My husband and I got our boosters a few weeks ago. My daughter says that the stats show it is advantageous to do so. Of course these are grass roots stats based on her experience working in the hospital but I think they are more reliable than the public ones often laced with personal bias. Cathy: I agree about the power of suggestion and also think that it is better to keep my physical condition to myself for that reason. Sam is going crazy so I presume the deer are hiding in the yard until he comes in the house so they can dine on the birdseed. Onward>>>>
Saturday:
Cathy, I hope all is well with you! I am off to run my errands in a few minutes. I managed to get all my errands done. While I was gone, my husband filled in Pine Needle Haven and dug me another hole with the tractor since Pine Needle was completely full. Another spectacular day today!

Affirmation: Giving to others brings joy
Mind: Grasps new ideas
Body: Graceful (sometimes)
Spirit: Gracious
Gratitude: Grateful for Groceries
I think I forgot to come onto the board yesterday and wonder now what I was doing. I know that we talked to our daughter and perhaps time just got away from me? Whatever...I am here today. It looks like it might rain later and if there is thunder and lightning we will have to disconnect from the internet.
MICHELLE: Sam sounds like a character...what would he do if out and the deer were nearby? Would he chase them? Hmm...AND I am NOT depressed...I keep busy, play in the closet, keep in touch with friends and family...life is what we make of it and I choose to make it positive and upbeat as much as I can!

Affirmation: I am full of energy and enthusiasm! Mind: Purposeful Body: Functional Fitness, Yoga, OP Spirit: Happy Gratitude: Projects that are getting completed
Today I had a wonderful day sitting outside reading, playing with the dogs, watering in La Fiesta. The weather has been incredible and it seems there will be one more day of it tomorrow before we are back to winter.
Cathy: Sam is a lazy hunter. Occasionally he catches rabbits and eats them. However, the deer would easily out run him. Also the loud barking is an excellent deterrent.

It was great talking to our son last night. The granddaughters had a friend over and were entertaining but did say happy birthday to our eldest who turned eleven this past week. My husband took the olives to the press and will be back soon, I hope, since he did not eat lunch before leaving. I have books to read and will start as soon as I finish with the online groups.

Affirmation: I am full of energy and enthusiasm! Mind: Composed Body: Functional Fitness, Yoga, OP Spirit: Serene Gratitude: Interesting books
Another pleasant day for me. I worked on organizing some household items and finishing up a project for work. Buttercup is the official Recreation Director. Sam is the Guard Dog. Clair is the Assistant Chef and Therapy Dog. So BC kept us busy playing all the games she is interested in. When she lost her ball, Clair as the Caregiver helped her look for it and Sam had a fun day running around investigating and, of course, barking.
Cathy: My new Live, Love, Laugh wall calendar for next year says on the front of it---Happy Thoughts for Happy Hearts. I buy this pretty calendar each year. I finished a book about a park ranger and all the adventures he had with bears in the Great Smoky Mountains. It's not something I usually would have read and I am proud to say that I have stepped out of my comfort zone as far as reading goes and am enjoying it.

Affirmation: Intuition followed is ingenious and wise
Mind: Inquisitive
Body: Intrepid
Spirit: Incandescent
Gratitude: Ice cubes in summer
Long day...had to post a couple of reviews, wrote a letter to my sister, ran errands, ate lunch late, was online late, etc. I am getting ready to settle in to read a book and review it (hopefully tonight) and have two books more that I should read for today but will read tomorrow instead. The two books that will wait are a Bread cookbook and a Jazz Age cocktail book...think it will have history and drink recipes...
MICHELLE: Your book about the ranger and bears sounds interesting. Your calendar for 2022 sounds lovely! My sister read a book called Perestroika in Paris by Jane Smiley and said she loved it. It is about a racehorse in Paris or some such thing. She reads many books I don't see here or that are gifted to her. Currently she is reading about being a grandmother and thinking about her children and grandchildren and how her part in their lives is changing.

Hearing the owl outside my window makes my spirit glad. We are back to winter in its mild form. Hoot hoot.... Such a lovely moon also.
Cathy: I admire your intellectual capabilities. Sharing who you are hear has made my life better because I realize how I can improve and also how different I would be without this Board. I know I would slip back. I love the fact that I think about what I am grateful for everyday and strive to have a better life.

Affirmation: Judicious eating will see me at goal weight
Mind: jammed full of information
Body: Jigs and jives to the music (I wish)
Spirit: Joyful
Gratitude: Java oranges that will be in season soon that we can pick off the tree
Busy day yesterday. Might spend some time with a few friends this afternoon. Not sure if I will play cards with them or just sit and talk. Lunch is made: garlic and onions sauteed in a bit of olive oil, bulgur, black eyed peas and spinach. Yummy in the tummy.
Went downstairs yesterday to open the door to the garage...don't go down often...and the stairs and area were covered with rat droppings. It is disgusting. They came in through the drains, I think, or perhaps through the electricity that is not covered in the wall? Hubby put a trap down there...ewwww. I hope he gets someone to come clean the area out as I surely do not want to do the cleaning!
MICHELLE: I love the sound of owls at night. We also hear jackals calling and that is fun. They start at sundown and then do a bit more throughout the night. Also hear roosters sometimes. I agree with you that checking in here daily is beneficial to my spirit and love having gotten to know you!

Affirmation: I am full of energy and enthusiasm! Mind: Committed Body: Walking, Yoga and another OP day Spirit: Happy Gratitude: My pets
Brrr... today. Winter has arrived. Your post made me remember that jigging and jiving is fun. When I crank up the music the dogs know it is dance party time and grab their toys and boogey along with me.
Cathy: So sorry about your varmit woes. Country life is rife with these icky stories. We are on a monthly schedule to replace the varmit poison. Otherwise they become a force to be reckoned with. Also I have to watch the garage or they get inside the vehicles, engines, on and on. I am grateful that I have to worry about these creatures rather than the two legged kind that terrorize people in the cities. Life is good!!!

Mind: Kinky...sort of sometimes...takes off on weird quirky tangents
Body: Kick-a**
Spirit: Kind
Gratitude: Kisses and kittens and knitting and such
Our fridge is FULL of produce. We will be eating well for days! One rat was dispatched...drowning didn't work so no idea how the big healthy creature was dealt with in the end by my husband. The trap is back in the basement and no doubt will have another rat inside...soon.
MICHELLE: I love the idea of you and the dogs dancing-jigging-jiving together! I agree with you about dealing with four rather than two legged varmints!

Today I went to town for a appointment and also got a few errands done. Again I skipped taking Clair on a therapy visit to the university. My daughter is aware of the sometimes horrific long term after effects of Covid since the nurses and their families do get the virus and then some of them end up with terrible ongoing medical conditions. So I keep deciding on not risking this. However I was really sad today about it but got over it quickly. Life is what I make it!
Cathy: Hopefully it won't be like my squirrel round up one year when I ended up catching forty of them. I think they actually eat rats in some countries. Ugg..... One a cheerful note---Hey Diddle Diddle, the cat and the fiddle....
