Just a quick post before I sign off for the night.
Sue, wow - congratulations to your DH for 30+ years of continuous sobriety. That is just huge! I love your traditions and the Cornish hens sound great. I love them, too, and I like to serve them for company because they just fancy things up a bit! The sides sound great, too. Have a wonderful and well earned celebration. You two are so cute. How many years for you? I'd love to hear your story sometime. Did you meet in the program? I have some friends and family members who did. I'm glad the new helpers at work are working out so well. That's a relief! You've done great on your WL, too. I think you have a wonderful outlook on life. We just have to face down our troubles and meet them head on so that they don't get the best of us. I'm tryin'!
Pam, thank you for the links and I intend to read them tonight. The Beck book homework is light tonight. It is just to choose a program. Well, we have one! DH & I are all "shot up" with those vaccines now so that's a good thing. We had both Shingrix shots, too. They can get scarce. Wow, running the length of the MIssissippi River. That is pretty cool. All the way up to Minnesota! I always think about Tom Sawyer and his raft when I think of the Mississippi. I really should re-read Huckleberry Finn, too. Have you done one of the Mississippi Riverboat rides, Pam? I'd love that.
All for now, but I will be in touch later if I can. TTFN. Thank you so much, friends. You are really carrying me through this challenging time.

Judy oh how I love crab rangoons. Those are the devil LOL. Worth each and every bite Like you, I'm always ready to celebrate a bday no matter when people can make it! So happy you enjoyed yourself. Will keep you posted on how I like this new OBGYN guy. Hopefully it will be as good a fit as our new PCP was. Bravo to your DH, Sue. That surely IS a milestone. What an awesome way to celebrate I'm sure you will enjoy each and every bite of the celebration meal Pam I used to keep a list and had it all mapped out...until Carl gets 'in there' and well....you know...his way of organizing and mine are just not the same. So now I just 'freezer dive' LOL. I do make sure that everything is marked correctly. Awesome job on your physical results. I surely hope that your PCP finds a suitable replacement when he finally retires. It's hard getting used to one that you've been going to for a long time. Thanks for the links. Well, my final walk of the day is done. Now I plan on getting jammified and just kicking back. Until tomorrow............

Hi all,
It's hump day! Thinking of that camel ad and Mike - do you know it? :-)
I am feeling a bit more rested today and ready to face the day. It's a sunny one - so far, but due to cloud up and rain. I have my cut and color tonight and I'm excited to see my hair stylist. She is pregnant with her second child now so I have a little something for her and her 3 year old son. She's like a daughter to me and so good to me.
I'll check in with everyone in a bit after I do a bit of work!

Good morning!
Today is our 3rd day in a row of gloomy, rainy weather and the tropical depression entering the Gulf of Mexico probably spells doom for our weekend weather, too.
I got 8 hours of sleep, but feel very groggy and listless today. I'm blaming it on the after-effects of immunizations and the fact that I woke up lots because of the pain in my left shoulder from the pneumonia vaccine. Hopefully, it will pass today, as we have a GNO tonight.
Last evening was fun, with Victoria and Tom describing some of the people they have met along their journey so far, a local Corps of Engineers guy giving the history of the spillway control structures, the mayor talking about his family's life of "farming the river" and local musicians performing. I ordered a hamburger and ate only 1/2 the bun, so did okay. I also ate a fried onion ring and some fried okra, which was very good. I wasn't terribly hungry.
The "farming the river" concept was interesting. It came from using the various "crops" to support families. The large trees which came downriver during spring floods, were pulled out, trimmed, sent to a lumber mill and then the lumber was sold. In summer, they seined for river shrimp, which were apparently cheaper and more readily available back then than Gulf shrimp. In fall, as well as other times of the year, fishing and selling catfish, Gasper gou and other river fish provided money for families. Some of the catfish were as big as 90 lbs.!
Nothing on the agenda today except housework and GNO tonight. I'm not sure if I want to do much floor cleaning, since wet and dirt is constantly being tracked in by either us or the cats. I will eat light today in anticipation of a nice dinner out.
Have a great day!

Pam, I meant to say thank you for the Set Point link. It will be so helpful. I am open to all good ideas! My doctor gave me the Dash Diet as well. And, I read about the ambitious Mississippi River "runners." Wow. That is quite a feat.
I had after effects from my shots as well - esp. the Shingrix shot.
Yikes on a 90 lb catfish! I would hate to bump into that fella!

Good Afternoon, WW Friends ~
Happy Hump Day! I have been enjoying reading your posts. Not much is new here since yesterday. We enjoyed our special dinner very much, and DH thanked me again this morning. Sweet how things mean so much. I enjoyed doing it for him and he appreciated it, so a win-win.
Pam ~ Thanks the link to the Set Point info. I have been reading it and found it very interesting.
I am still tracking my meals ahead of time which always helps me. When I got home from school I tracked my supper and had plenty of SP left over so decided to have some LF pretzels for a snack. That keeps me from getting too hungry before supper.
Tonight we are having a salad with sliced grilled sirloin and Boathouse Blue Cheese dressing with grape tomatoes. It should be good and filling both.
I have to add my name to the list of Catfish lovers. I have been eating it since I was a little girl, and used to enjoy it at Red Lobster when they carried it. I still get it when we stop at Cracker Barrel.
BBL. Make a great day!

Hi all. What a busy day we had. CArl had a doctor appointment. He is having problems with his hernia. He had surgery about 15 years ago and it's giving him pain. Went to the doctor and he has an ultra sound scheduled along with an appointment with a surgeon. Wish him luck and please keep him in your prayers. Then we went to the dry cleaners, stopped at Marshall's where I picked up a new pair of slippers and by that time we were famished! Stopped at our local Chinese Restaurant. Will be hitting reset button tomorrow Judy happy you are more rested. Pam thanks for those sites. I read the and have them saved I hope your shoulder discomfort leaves you. I know that pain all too well. Enjoy your dinner out. Sue so happy DH appreciated your wonderful celebration meal that you prepared. Puts a smile on my face. Sue I also make it a habit to plan my day ahead of time and track it. Then again sometimes (like tonight) they go by the wayside. I also try to hydrate daily and move. I still follow the GHG's which it seems weight watchers no longer supports. I'm exhausted, so going to shut down now and relax. Take care.....

We lost power at some point, as the digital clocks were all winking away!!!!!
Wishing all a wonderful OP day.

Good morning! I slept well and feel much better today than yesterday, so I might actually get something accomplished today. The weather is much cooler and thankfully, the rain has stopped, so I will get a walk in. We are keeping a weather eye on what will probably become Tropical Storm Nestor later today and move across the Gulf Coast this weekend. We are far enough north and the current cool front should keep the storm south of us, but we are likely to get lots of rain and wind. That doesn't bode well for the parish Harvest Fest scheduled for 5:00 pm Friday-5:00 pm Sunday. Our GNO was a success, even with one last minute cancellation. The restaurant was small with a small menu - 5 appetizers, 3 salads, 2 soups and about 7 entrees. The food was GREAT and very reasonably priced. We shared an appetizer of fried alligator (in honor of the Tigers' win against the Florida Gators last Saturday) and it was good. I am not a fan of alligator, so that is saying something. I had Flounder with Crabmeat Meuniere and green beans and it was so good, I ate the whole portion, unusual for me. One of the appetizers is maple cornbread baked in a small cast iron skillet, but we shared it as a dessert. It was brought to the table steaming hot and a small amount of maple syrup was drizzled over the top. It was heavenly! We had a good visit, the service was good and my total bill, even with wine, was only $36! I am thinking we will go back there frequently. DH is in the garden working, so his bruised ribs are feeling better. Time for me to head out on that walk!

Hi all,
I enjoyed catching up on all the posts this morning.
Sue, glad your celebratory “feast” turned out so well. Your DH is a very lucky man. And it sounds like he knows it. You are both so kind to one another and that is just about the best trait ever.
Pam, I have never tasted alligator. Does it taste like chicken? I can almost taste that wonderful corn bread with the maple syrup. It sounded heavenly. Glad you had a fun GNO. We have a bit of drama in our book club. One of our members seems to becoming angry and snippy and pretty judgmental of others and I am not sure what is going on. Someone suggested changing the menus to appetizers and drinks to lighten the load on the working members, and she hit the roof – telling them they should be able to at least cook one meal every six months for those they care about. She is hurting the feelings of some of the members. I say do what you want when it’s your turn. Do it up big time or scale it back—it shouldn’t matter. Your choice. I just hope this won’t disrupt our sweet little group who have been friends for so long. Sometimes you just need to zip your lips! So see, Pam, you have your yoga drama and I have this! It’s the same thing – north and south! Either way, I hate this stuff and it adds unnecessary stress to our lives. Ann, my DH has gone through THREE double hernia surgeries due to issues. Poor guy. Two were conventional and one was laparoscopic. He had the issues with the laparoscopic surgery which had to be redone within six months. The last surgery was about 3 years ago and he thinks things are acting up again. Ugh. I’ll say a prayer for Carl, too.
Our DD has to have a major surgery very soon. She has a tumor under her ankle bone and the bone has to be shaved down to remove the tumor. When I say ankle bone, she has two ankle bones on each foot. The second is an auxiliary type bone which is a genetic type issue. It is really not a regular ankle bone but it looks and acts like one. This is where the tumor is located. Also she has torn her ACL again and has to have ACL surgery at the same time on the same leg. She will be out of commission for over six months, the orthopedic surgeon said. Poor kid.
We had some wild weather, didn’t we, Ann? Did you lose power? We did not here but probably at the Cape we did. Our doggies were on high alert way before the storm started. I guess they sense the barometric pressure dropping before we do.
I’ll bbl.

Hello again. Back from my 'newbie to me' gyno guy and he was very professional with a good sense of humor. I like that in a doctor. He assured me all looked good and to just watch for bleeding as I was on tamoxifen for so long (5 years) and when it gets near to my next physical, I'll get a postcard from their office to schedule. Easy peasy and just down the road.
Yes Judy our weather was unbelievable. My friend that lives in Holden didn't get a thing...just rain on and off. We actually lost power for a bit...sorry if I already mentioned this LOL.....when I woke up which was at 4:05 a.m. the digital clocks were winking at me. Hate when that happens!
Right now the sky is bright and the wind has died down some but it's still raining. I'm already 'jammified' and will remain so. No desire to go back out. I'm past exhausted having had little sleep!
Judy I shall also keep your DH in my prayers. Hernia surgeries are the pits. I'm not going to share this info with Carl just yet...until he knows where he stands! He does not make a good patient at all. Very skeptical of the entire 'white coat' scene...and I think that has a LOT to do with getting out of the service and dealing with the VA. Funny how after 50 years he is still bothered by it. It takes a lot for him to trust the medical field when it comes to his issues. Luckily he does like our new PCP, so perhaps he is a'changin' LOL.
Pam I too am drooling over corn bread with maple syrup! I'm not one to try different types of foods. I'm actually a plain simple eater. Carl on the other hand is more adventurous in that department. That was a great price for your meal!!!!! I don't blame you for going back again and again and again LOL. Also happy that you slept well.
Hi Sue...hope all is well and you are not too busy.
Talk tomorrow. I'm going to shut down and relax.

Good Afternoon, WW Friends ~
Happy Thursday! This is actually like my Friday afternoon since I am faced with a 3-day weekend. That is perhaps one of my favorite parts of my job. We work hard, and fast; but we only do it 4 days a week. I enjoy my co-workers, and my Head Start teachers, and of course the kiddos! I spend time in four different classrooms in the course of my day so when I go outside, I have kids from all different classrooms greeting me and wanting to play. Recently we have a little guy named Jet who is from a completely different program who has been joining our play. He is cute as a button and very quick!
I am looking forward to this weekend. We are having leftover pork loin tonight with mashed sweet potatoes with brown sugar and pecan topping (that we brought home the other day) and peas and applesauce. Should be a great "comfort food" dinner! I had poached eggs with grits and fresh fruit for breakfast, then a Premier Protein shake with a banana for lunch. We had talked about going out for Sweetest Day dinner on Saturday, then realized it conflicted with a Retrouvaille gathering that we'd like to attend. My DH (ever quick with a solution) suggested we could go out for OUR Sweetest Day dinner on Friday. We had chosen a local Chinese Buffet that we both love and haven't been to in a long time. I am really looking forward to it! I am also off for a hair cut tomorrow midday and then lunch with my GF/hairdresser.
Saturday I need to catch up on some things around here and then get ready to go out Saturday evening. I think we'll eat before we go as we have to leave between 5 and 5:30 but won't get home until about 9 o'clock which is way too late! I am thinking turkey sandwiches and butternut squash soup. I am still switching clothes over and plan to donate quite a few of old fleece tops that have been packed away. So maybe this weekend I will get to that.
Judy ~ Yes, my DH and I met in AA. We knew each other for several years, then began dating and quickly became a couple and within the year we were married. Actually we had our first date in May of 1991 and got engaged in October and married on December 13th (which was a Friday). I celebrated 35 years of continuous sobriety this past April. It has worked well for us, though we still needed the help of Retrouvaille to "learn how to be married" and we're glad we found it. Staying involved in both has really enhanced our life. We will be celebrating 25 years in Retrouvaille (a Christian Peer Ministry for Troubled Marriages) next year at this time. Over the years we have served on the Board of Directors and in many different volunteer capacities as well as being a presenting couple. We are currently mentoring a younger couple, which is also adding to our life. We make sure to stay active in both. BTW, speaking of that camel and Mike ..... my DH's name is Mike and I frequently get up on Wednesday saying "Hey, Mike" and he always knows the answer <LOL>
Ann ~ So sorry your DH is having troubles! My DH had a hernia repair and, fortunately, has not had any problem with it at all. I can understand Carl not being especially warm to the medical profession. A lot of people feel that way. We are very lucky to have excellent doctors and maybe my past working in health care has helped us a lot as well.
Pam ~ I am glad you enjoyed your GNO. It sounded like a great time and a great meal! I love when that happens!!
Last night I added a cup of Progresso Light Beef Barlet with Vegetables soup alongside our salad and we enjoyed it very much! I am now at the point in losing that I have to be most careful, as I need to drop below what I am now and I struggle with hunger, so I have to be very mindful.
BBL. Make a great day!!

Good morning all. Slept better and longer last night for which I'm grateful. No plans for today. Will hang out with Donna, have coffee and walk LuLa. Carl has to report for jury duty. Sue great to hear from you. Thank you for sharing your story with your DH. You are both heroes in my book Nice that you have a 4 day work week. I know it's busier, but at least you get that 'extra day'. Your supper sounded great. I also enjoy Progresso Light soups every now and then. Wishing all a great day and I'll pop in later.
