Good morning all. We will be heading out to take our annual fall walk at the Quabbin Reservoir shortly. Judy I'm sure you've been there. Going to be a perfect day for it. We have snacks and water with us as it's a long walk. Donna will be coming with us. Pam so happy that your DBIL doesn't have cancer. The power of prayer is amazing! Your DH sounds a lot like Carl...he just loves to cook as well. (I let him  ) Waving and wishing all a wonderful OP Monday. |

Hi!
I overslept this morning, but it felt good. I forgot to set my alarm and DH forgot my caveat to never let me sleep past 8:00 am. At 9:30 he woke me and asked if I was going to sleep all day. It is rainy, so my planned walk didn't take place. I will hit the exercise bike a little later and have yoga this evening as well.
I was excited when today's WI shows I am back to pre-vacation weight. Now to keep things in check and move downward. I am getting anxious to lose a few pounds before the holidays slow me down. I keep reminding myself that I made it through the holidays for 7 years of losing and maintaining and this year doesn't have to be different. It all depends on my choices.
It's Monday, so laundry is going. It's a large load with all the vacation stuff added. I also plan to get some online training for hospice out of the way, as I have been putting it off. The deadline will creep up on me if I don't go ahead and do it. It is boring workplace safety stuff we have to do every year.
Lunch today is PB&J made with PB2 & all-fruit. Dinner will be DH's homemade French onion soup and our "fake" muffalettos, made with deli-thin cold cuts, Oroweat sandwich thins, a slice of Mozzarella cheese and olive mix. He is attending a cultural district meeting this evening and I have yoga, so this will be perfect.

Hi all,
Ann, I hope you had a good walk at the Quabbin. It's a beautiful area and we used to go with the kids when they were little, and then we used to stop later on when my son was a student at U Mass Amherst to stroll around int he fall. I love it. I am glad you brought Donna along. You and Carl are good buddies to her.
I agree with Ann, Pam, and I am so glad your DBIL is cancer free. What a scare. And you must have needed sleep and I'm glad you slept in today. Sometimes our bodies just crave long sleeps. Hooray for you for being at your pre-vacation weight already! Hip Hip Hooray! I wish I shared your success. I am getting discouraged at my lack of progress and I only blame myself. My head is not in the game and I some other things going on that are stressful. I've been paying my $47+ every month and going nowhere weight wise. Granted, I haven't gained, but I am not working the program. I think I am going to stop going for a while and see how I do. I am just not getting motivated by my weekly meetings any longer. I am eating well overall, but evidently not well enough and I track sporadically. I am not making excuses and I own my actions. I welcome all your helpful advice. If anyone ever needed help, it's me. :-)

Judy- I feel your frustration. One thing that helps me re-focus is the Beck Diet Solution book review. I do "Judy's Beck Book Review" on facebook, but she also has a group here on proboards-under Food & Diets -http://wwmessageboard.freeforums.net/thread/43403/bbr-beck-book-review-starting?page=1&scrollTo=456847. While some of the activities seem kind of silly, I have to say that over the years, Beck principles have helped me far more than WW. A new review is starting 10/27/19. There are usually 3 full reviews per year. Just a suggestion!

Yeah Pam for being pre vacation weight. I'm still working on pre surgery weight LOL. Oh well...it'll happen when it happens. I hit below it a few times only to regain. Story of my life.
NOrmally I do laundry on Monday, but that will wait till tomorrow. I'm beat from all the walking we did today at the Quabbin, not to mention walking LuLa!!!!! I have 25,045 steps or 9.95 miles. Still have one more LuLa walk to complete before I say 'one and done'
Judy I know what you mean. I stopped meetings when our 'little group' started to dwindle down. Couldn't rationalize going from here to Leominster every week. Too far and too much time spent away from home. Now I just go monthly to keep up my lifetime status. I no longer stay for meetings as I don't find them inspiring.
My only suggestion is to get involved with the Beck diet solution. I was part of Judy's group and found it helpful. I don't do it any longer as I just don't want to commit myself to another daily board.
The only other thing that I can suggest is to start to journal either online on like I do.....I journal in the weight watcher journal. I find the written word does it for me...but that's just me. I weigh in daily and record the number and move on. I've been weighing in daily for years so the fluctuations don't upset me. Also do you still meet with your over eater group? I know that helped you in the past. One last thing...perhaps some of your bookclub people would be willing to talk about weight loss...worth a shot. And of course, there is always US to bounce off. Feel free to email me or we could just talk more weight watcher stuff here......
Going to saddle up LuLa and take that walk while it's still somewhat light out.

Thanks, Ann and Pam. You two are so great and generous in your help to me. I can get pretty down on myself at times. I’m going to start journaling more and taking better care of myself. I think I often put myself last and I’ve been wrapped up with issues lately that have taken a lot out of me. It’s easy to have a pity party and start to think that your own life is harder than others - social media can be detrimental since it always looks like one big happy love fest- and I have to snap out if it. I will drop an email to fill you in.
But, I guess food is often the last thing I focus on and self care as far as exercise. I need to push that reset button and face this down. I’ll check out the Beck book. After I read your suggestions I talked to a coach on WW who was very helpful. When I told her how discouraged I felt, she told me that she’d help and offered me a free month to try one more time before I leave the program. I agreed. I am a lucky person in many ways and I have to count my blessings. You three are part of my blessings.

Awww, Judy. Keep your chin up and just keep putting one foot in front of the other. Social media is NOT real life. The real thing has its up and downs and sometimes there are more downs than ups, it seems. I get it. When that happens I start to focus on the troublesome things and forget to be grateful for all the good things in my life. Just know we're here for you and trust that things will get better. Contacting a WW coach was a great idea! And with the Beck book review, the first time or two I only read the posts and thought about stuff, not really posting or doing anything. But it still helped me refocus as I was reading and thinking about weight loss on a daily basis. Do whatever you need to take care of you, because you matter. Both to us and to those who love you.
Ann - My jaw literally dropped when I saw your step count for the day. You rock!!!!

(((Judy))) so happy that you also reached out to a couch. With all the traveling and socializing you've done over the summer it's amazing that you are 'holding your own'. Give yourself a huge pat on the back Pam today is going to be VERY laid back. I'm a little sore....but not much. TG I had on comfy shoes Waving to Sue. Ann, I am sorry I neglected to comment on your AMAZING step count at the Quabbin. Wow!! 9+ miles! That is fantastic!! You sure do deserve a day off relaxing. :-)
I knuckled under and went to my early AM meeting to hit the reset button. It was timely because I was handed a new WI book since I had reached the last page in the old one. I shared my frustration with the group and found support in it along with a reminder that for the most part, I have not gained, but have maintained. It's not what I need, but if I take both feet out of the program, I am not sure I will be able to maintain as I have.
Thank you both for the reminders of all of life's ups and downs and of what a marathon this crazy life truly is. I spent some time last night listening to relaxing spa type music on my Alexa machine and read the first Beck book chapter and filled out the index card - both sides and 21 reasons why! I'm committing to the program for the first go around. Thanks for the tip, Ann and Pam. I found Judy on the WW and another woman who just started the series, too. Stenga is her name.
I picked up a rotisserie chicken last night, added some steamed broccoli and rice and it made for a quick dinner. I had a long Facetime with my DGD and that is always a reason to smile. I miss them like crazy. Today my coworkers are taking me out for a Chinese belated birthday lunch at Nancy Chang's. I am feeling stronger and I hope to sample but not overdo.

LOL Judy...I 'found' the makings for American chop suey Not very WW'er friendly, but I can surely work it on in I love rotisserie chicken. Your sides with it sound delish as well. Enjoy Nancy Chang. I always enjoyed going there. So happy that you went to a meeting and the new weigh in book is a new beginning. I'd take that and run with it. We went for two short hood walks. It's beautiful out there...but I am not going to do any marathon walking today. I did make an appointment with a new gyno doc right here in town. It was easy peasy and I have it all scheduled for this Thursday at 3 p.m. Time to sit and relax....... |

Back from my lunch out which was very fun and so generous of my coworkers to treat me. We had to struggle to find a date when all could make it. Hey, I am fine celebrating my bd right into the next month. LOL I did "okay" but I enjoyed every nibble of those Crab rangoons and other treats.
Ann, good for you for taking more hood walks. You have that exercise down pat. :-) Glad you found a new doctor in town. That saves you from a trek down here in traffic, etc. Chop suey sounds great. I made some homemade "gravy" with the garden tomatoes someone gave me and will serve it to DH tonight with pasta and chicken Italian sausage. I think I will be too full still so I may opt for a bowl of oatmeal. Sometimes cereal for dinner is great.

Hello to all! I visited my PCP this morning for a check up, flu & pneumonia shots, thyroid blood work and got orders for Shingrix vaccine and a bone scan. He complimented me on my excellent cholesterol levels--extremely high HDL and low LDL. I have gone to this doctor, who grew up in our little village, for almost 40 years. I will be sad when he decides to retire. He's about 70 now, but many doctor's continue working way past normal retirement date. Our conversation about weight loss slowing/stopping and how we struggle reminded me of this article about how your body tends to establish a "set point" and then tries to keep you at that point: www.bidmc.org/about-bidmc/wellness-insights/nutrition/week-one-the-science-of-set-point. I kind of like the part about identifying each day by R,K or O. It would be easy to see at a glance whether I am in reducing mode, keeping it off, but not losing or off plan altogether. I had a lunch of leftover eggplant lasagna & smothered okra--probably a mistake as we will be having dinner at a place on the river 5 miles north of here that serves mostly fried food. I'm hoping I can find something not too point-y. We just made a trip up there to greet a young woman, Victoria and her new husband, Tom, who are running the length of the Mississippi River. We met her and her mother nearly a year ago as the plans for the run were just beginning. They ran today and arrived at 12:45 to meet a small group of us and are now taking a boat ride on Old River (really an oxbow lake that used to be a part of the Mississippi River). We came home, but will go back at 5:00 pm for dinner, a talk about our spillway and it's history, live music and socializing. Tomorrow, they will run the 5 miles into our village, have breakfast and then run on. Good Afternoon, WW Friends ~
I have been reading and reading, catching up with all of you. I have peeked in periodically but never found the time to post. Life can get SOOO busy!! But I am sure you all know that.
First of all, my new co-workers are working out beautifully! We are becoming quite the team. It certainly takes a lot of stress off of me and I am enjoying it immensely.
Judy ~ I was reading your "struggle" and could so relate! I sometimes get out of the proper mindset and have to really work at getting back there. I am currently in losing mode along with proper mindset. But I never take that for granted. I have to work at it every single day. But my mother died weighing over 300 lbs and I do not intend to let my genetics define me - so I work at the Program. I am so proud of you for taking all the necessary steps to get yourself where you want to be. Please count me in as one who is on your team and here and willing to do anything to help! You are so worth it! Please don't give up!
Ann ~ You are totally awesome with you 9+ miles! You certainly deserved a rest after that! Glad you found a new Ob/Gyn that you like.
Pam ~ Glad you are back home safe and sound. Congrats on being back at pre-vacation weight! That is a huge accomplishment! Also congrats on your DBIL's findings. I know you are so relieved!
Our weekend just flew by it seemed. I went Red Hatting on Saturday and did watch what I ate. We had turkey sandwiches and butternut squash soup for supper. Sunday I splurged and ate a Pumpkin Walnut muffin that I brought us home on Saturday, so for lunch I only had a small side salad with a grilled chicken breast. THEN we went to Retrouvaille (to present a talk) and there was a Pot Luck following and I definitely overate. Instead of berating myself, I simply started the new week with a new resolve.
Today is an "occasion" at our house. My DH celebrates 32 years of continuous sobriety today. When we were dating (so 28 years ago) I cooked him a Cornish Hen dinner at my apartment to celebrate and he enjoyed it so much that I have done it every year since then. I have the hens ready to stuff with Long Grain and Wild Rice and bake alongside a sweet dumpling squash and probably some green beans on the side. I have already tracked it all and knew I only had SP enough for a Premier Protein drink for lunch. I remember hearing at WW that "no one ever died of hunger" so I'm not listening to my growling stomach.
I plan to watch my eating (and my thinking) this week as my new WW week begins tomorrow and I am planning to WI in two weeks with my VBF and then enjoy a Starbuck's coffee date. I would LOVE to show a loss after maintaining (just a smidge over top goal) for the past two months. I seem to have a new "set point" but it is too high for me to continue getting Free Lifetime at WW, so I must drop a couple lbs.
I will try to be better about posting! I miss you guys when I don't get online. I am glad when I can peek in and see how you're all doing, but like it more when I can be part of the conversation.
