TGIF! Hi all.
Ann, I am glad you slept better last night. Nothing like a great restful sleep. Have a relaxing day today.
Sue, thank you for telling us your story and I admire you and your DH so much. There is something very special about people who meet in that program, I have noticed. They forge deep and lasting friendships and are the least judgmental people on the planet. They just know what matters and what is real in this life. You and your DH have transformed your lives so much and are helping others do the same. We all know that at times, it's no bed of roses and like my sweetest best friend of a mother used to tell me, there were many days she would have boarded the next rocket ship to the moon. :-)
I had a call from the vet on my voicemail that I missed and I feel badly I didn't hear it a couple weeks ago. One of our sweet little Cavaliers tested positive for Lyme Disease. So much for Sorresto, but they told me that it doesn't mean he has it now, but may have had it in the past. They are checking for kidney damage, etc. now after I was able to get a urine sample. Don't ask for details on how I managed that one! He seems healthy and fine, active, etc., but he did have that limp a few week back and he also has the partial facial paralysis which we treat with eyedrops 3x a day and it's working well. I base a lot of his health on how he looks and acts and so far, so good. I'll let you know.
Remember me telling you about the "talker" at work? Well, there are days. Today is one. They never stop talking all day long. It's so exhausting and it's loud. Laughing loud and yapping all day. Well, it's not my responsibility, but it drives both my boss and me around the bend at times. TGIF!
I am on Day Six of Beck, Pam and Ann. I have the book and I am following the Connect person. It's not Judy but she's helpful. I am tracking, planning and trying to be much more careful about what I pop into my mouth esp. at work with Halloween candy all over the place in bowls. One tootsie roll often turns into ten!
I really want to see Downton Abbey this weekend. Most of my best buddies have seen it - right away when it came out. DH has no interest in seeing it - he is not a big movie theater guy. So, I might just nip out on my own and see it tomorrow at a matinee. Have any of you seen it? I was a fan of the show!

Good Morning, WW Friends ~
TGIF!! I am loving this long lazy morning. I have been doing a bit of this and a bit of that without having to keep an eye on the clock. I had my NF plain Greek yogurt with blackberries and 1/4 c. of Original Fiber One for breakfast (my go-to breakfast for Monday-Wednesday-Friday). I have begun the process of getting myself put together for the day but keep stopping to do other things. I have paid bills (actually, put them on bill pay through our Credit Union for next week) and balanced the checkbook, etc. Then I caught up on my emails, and ordered a couple more free books through BookBub to be installed on my Kindle. I will have some reading time on Sunday (if not before) as DH will be watching football. One of my favorite ways to spend an afternoon together.
Does anyone else have Sweetest Day in their area? Around here it is the third Saturday in October and some say it is just a "Hallmark holiday" but since it is six months from Valentine's Day, I don't mind celebrating my sweetheart again. We are going out to eat at the Chinese Buffet tonight for our "celebration". Anyone else have any plans? The first 10 years or so that we owned our condo, we bought something new for the condo on Valentine's Day and Sweetest Day - resulting in our new outdoor lights and back door and replacing indoor lighting and other things over the years.
Judy ~ I am so glad you are getting back on track! I know how difficult it can be, and how our brains love to sabotage our body's best intentions. I struggle with that. Hope your pooch is going to be okay. I never watched Downton Abbey though I heard good things about it. I have also gone to the show alone and have no problem with it. When the new "Lion King" movie came out, I went alone because DH wasn't interested and that was okay. I enjoy him going with me, but enjoy it alone just as much.
Ann ~ I can absolutely vote with you for the benefits of a great night's sleep! I had one night before last, then a little less so last night. But they seldom come two in a row for me, so perhaps again tonight?? Your walking no doubt helps you in that regard? I keep a few cans of Progresso Light soup on the pantry shelf for times just like the other night. I had planned to make salads for dinner, then it was cold and rainy, and we just needed something warm, so the cup of soup was ideal with the salad.
Pam ~ Hope your DH is continuing to improve and getting to enjoy his garden. Is he putting it to bed for the winter yet? My neighbor just brought me some more tomatoes and I am hoping they go away soon.
So far today I have unpacked some more winter clothes. I have a stack of polar fleece tops that are going in the donate pile. I have had them for a gadzillion years and they are never, ever, going to wear out and I am finally tired of them! I kept a few that I still like (and mostly that I haven't worn in recent years) and put the others on the give-away pile. They really need a new home and someone should be enjoying them. They look like brand new and are toasty warm!
Shortly I am headed out to get my hair cut and enjoy lunch and conversation with my GF/hairdresser. Last month we didn't get to go to lunch because they had lost power in mid-week and had to reschedule some customers for Friday afternoon (usually her time off). So we chatted while she trimmed my hair, and then I headed for home. I need to stop at Meijer today and replenish my stock of distilled water. This week when we turned on the furnace I also got out and set up my portable humidifier in the bedroom. I only use distilled water in it, so I have gone through my supply much quicker. I will have to remember to grab a couple of jugs every time I go in the store. But it is worth it's weight in gold as my breathing is much better and no waking up with a sore throat. My PCP had recommended it for ages, and last winter I finally got one, and now will never be without it.
BBL. Make a great day!!

(((Judy))) will most definitely keep your little fur baby in my thoughts and prayers. Please keep us posted. It's amazing what can be done for them now a days. I can relate to getting a urine sample.....'nuff said You are smart to only go by how the animals looks as to how they are doing. LOL yes I can also relate to LOUD and CLEAR at work!!!!! There SHOULD be a rule about that sort of thing. And is seems like the ones with the least to say are always running off at a loud pace! Annoying. I can hear you with your TGIF mantra. Happy that you are getting a lot out of Beck. I often re-read that book. I did take part in the online version led by Judy and it was helpful. I no longer do it as I want to keep my computer time down. I must be the only one on the planet that has not watched Downton Abbey. It just never appealed to me. Guess we truly are all different LOL. Enjoy. Sue happy that you are enjoying you lazy morning I'm not sure of Sweetest Day around these parts. I may have missed it LOL, but I'm all for a celebration that involves food Enjoy your Chinese Buffet. Like you, when the weather is cold, I need a good cup of soup to warm me up...especially with a salad. I'll have to check out my Progresso stash to see if I need to replenish it. Yes my walking does help. The day we walked the Quabbin I was down 1.5 only to put that plus back on.....Chinese food is the devil LOL, but at times very necessary to my well being lol. When Carl left for Jury Duty I immediately attacked both bathrooms, washed 3 floors, polished furniture and ran the vac. Now I'm washing clothes LOL. When he comes home, he'll enter a nice sweet smelling house I also walked miss LuLa which I have a hard time doing as she tends to pull and my upper body strength is compromised. Donna volunteered to come with me, which was a blessing. We came back here and I perked a pot of coffee and we had some good quality 'girl time'. Not sure if I mentioned that she recently met a man in our retirement community and they 'hit it off'. I'm so very happy for both of them. Warms my heart. I shall try to pop in later. Right now I'm going to think about lunch. I'm a little hungry. Should have had oatmeal for breakfast instead of corn flakes. TTFN

Good morning Cafe-Dwellers!
Ann - A good night's sleep makes you feel you can take on the world. Enjoy your quiet day with Donna. I'm glad all went well with the new gyno doctor. It sounds like your weather got a little rough. From what I saw on the news, it was predicted to be very close to a classic "nor'easter".
Sue - What a beautiful love story! DH & I also met, dated and got engaged very quickly. When you know, you know. I am sure your participation in Retrouvaille has only helped strengthen your bond. Catfish is not my favorite fried fish, but I do enjoy it. It is what's usually served on seafood platters or half & half dinners here. I had never heard of Sweetest Day, but it sounds like a great tradition--another day in the year to appreciate the love in your life.
Judy - I'm sorry to hear about DD's troubles. It is scary as a young mom to even contemplate such surgery, but I am sure she will get through it just fine. Do you plan to go out there and help for a while? It's hard living far away from family during troubles. Even if you're not able to stay, perhaps you & DH can help them by paying for meal services, cleaning lady, etc. With your DD, DH & dog all having issues, it's no wonder you have been feeling stressed! Kudos to you for refocusing on your weight loss and trying hard not to eat those feelings. You will like the Downton Abbey movie. Maybe one of your book club friends would like to go, too? I hope all the "snippie-ness" goes away. None of us know what the other is carrying on their plate, so, as my mom always said, "If you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all."
To answer Sue's question about DH's garden: He's out there now, cutting down okra stalks, planting onions, garlic, mustard greens, cabbage, beets, cauliflower, broccoli and carrots and picking green beans. Gardening is pretty much a year round thing here. You just rotate crops, growing tomatoes, bell pepper, cucumbers, peas, corn and okra in the warm months and root crops and cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, etc. in the cold months. With climate change, times to plant some things are changing. Green beans, which used to be a spring crop, won't make beans now because it gets too hot too quickly, so that has become a fall crop. Tomatoes, which used to be planted around Good Friday, now have to be started early so they produce fruit before it gets too hot. And sometimes, too much rain or a late or early frost just messes things up. Pecans are starting to fall now, so that will be our job for the next couple of months--raking the leaves, picking pecans, sorting, cracking and shelling.
Would you believe I sat in this stupid chair playing on the computer yesterday afternoon and totally forgot my yoga class?!? I felt so dumb when I realized. Not gonna happen today! I am headed to an 11:00 class and then will run errands. DD's 1 & 2 have planned a tailgate party for the LSU game tomorrow and I will be bringing some kind of chicken wings.
The scale is down 1.8 at official WI today, so most of my vacation weight is truly gone. Daily WI has been the same 3 days in a row, so I believe continued efforts will drop it some more. I am also pulling out my Beck book, Judy, as well as tracking food and tracking with the R-K-O diary from the Set Point article. I've got to make some progress before holiday season starts!
Breakfast this morning was Light & Fit yogurt with blue berry granola and flax seeds. Lunch will be seafood gumbo and a salad & fruit. Dinner will be fresh green beans with potatoes and cube steak.
Make yourself a great day!

Yeah Pam...nothing like good 'scale news' to make your day Again I wish I enjoyed fish. Only way I like it is deep fried or a tuna sandwich LOL. Whenever we go out to eat, Carl usually gets some type of fish as he loves it! I can also relate to playing on the computer and forgetting a glass. Once I actually set an alarm before something that I was supposed to do...didn't remember...shut the alarm off and continued playing. TG my dental hygienist wasn't too upset with me! We often laugh about that now. yes our weather did get nasty. Today is absolutely beautiful. Temperature is hovering around 55 with plenty of sunshine and no wind. Nice crisp and fall-ish Just finished lunch. Now I'm going to grab a water and my kindle and get into my happy zone

Good morning!
I had a good day yesterday. I ate on program, tracked everything, got exercise, read my book instead of playing stupid video games and got a good night's sleep. Today will be more challenging.
We are hosting a lunch & learn for area pastors at the hospice office from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm. I will help present the topics, along with my supervisor and the marketer. Lunch will probably be Caesar salad and chicken fettuccine with a dessert. Not very point-friendly, even when I skip dessert and fill half my plate with salad. At 2:30, DH & I will go to DD1's for our family tailgate party for the LSU-Miss. St. game. Yep, party food! I am bringing chicken taquitos, which are not too bad and baked chicken wings, which I par-boiled last night to remove as much fat as possible. DH will bake them this afternoon so they will be ready when I get home from the lunch & learn. Not sure what else is on the menu, but I'm sure it will be point-y. I am planning to eat breakfast before leaving home (boiled egg and yogurt), skipping lunch and then enjoying some tail-gate foods for a late lunch. I will have some Progresso light soup and a salad and fruit if I am hungry for supper. I have several more meals out this week, so I really need to pace myself.
I had what I feel is an exercise victory yesterday. When I started walking again, a month or so ago, I struggled to get in a mile to a mile and a half in 30 minutes and was whipped when I finished. Yesterday, I walked two 17 minute miles! And still had the energy to get things done afterwards! It was certainly a boost to my spirits. Exercise is an area where I constantly struggle.
Well, time to get dressed and head into town. I have to present a booklet that I haven't even read yet. Apparently, the plan for the agenda changed yesterday and I wasn't told until 7:30 last night. I don't have a copy of the booklet here at home, so will go in early, read it and confirm the other part of my presentation. My supervisor sent that to me last evening and it seems pretty straight-forward. The lack of advance planning on the part of the marketer is one of my pet peeves. AND she scheduled this event in the middle of the Harvest Festival, so I'll be glad if anyone actually shows up.
I'll check back in this evening.

Pam brava on the walking. I also share in your pet peeve. Not a good way to run things. Good luck and have fun at your pointy meal. Good job having a good breakfast before hand.
Judy how is D doing?
Sue anything planned for today?
Need to get a move on.
Later!

Good Morning, WW Friends ~
Happy Saturday! We have a beautiful sunny day with a predicted high of 60!
I have been aggravated all morning with catch-up phone calls. I placed an order with Bath & Body Works yesterday for some lotions for Christmas gifts. They were on sale B3G2F with free shipping so I took advantage of it. I discovered I couldn't get into my online account with them, so called Customer Service who assured me they'd email me a password reset that I never got, so I had to call again this morning. It is still "in the works" so we'll see. I never received my confirmation email, but did receive a shipping one. Then my cable carrier ..... last night DH punched the wrong button when selecting an On Demand show and ended up selecting a PAY one. We quickly exited, but I called this morning and sure enough, we had $$17.99 added to our account. They offered to credit it for which I was grateful. They also emailed me instructions on how to set a password for any PAY programs which I will do next week.
I also started DH's Christmas shopping because he needs jeans and Lands End had a 40% off yesterday (with free shipping) so I ordered him a couple of pair for under the Christmas tree. He had said he didn't want them now, so away they will go. I made him LOL when I told him I had officially started my Christmas shopping (and this is actually late for me).
We split an orange for breakfast with a HB egg each. He just called me to meet him at a Coney for lunch at 1 o'clock. I am right in the middle of cleaning, so better get back to it so I can get showered and dressed in time.
BBL. Make a great day!!

Sue so sorry for you upsetting morning. At least you have good weather to get to enjoy not to mention the great deal on DH's Christmas jeans @ Lands End. I love their clothing as it 'wears like iron' like my gramma used to say LOL.
We are all done our shopping and also stopped at the celebration of life for Sonny. It was quite touching.
Now I'm going to relax a bit before we head on out to walk miss LuLa.
Take care, all!

Good morning all. Yeah to another good sleeping night Today I plan on doing extra hydrating. Mini homemade calzones happened at the celebration of life ceremony. Going to be a good day, so I'll get an extra walk in. Wishing all a wonderful OP Sunday. Not sure what's on our agenda for today.
P.S. just did my daily weigh in and happy to say that the hydrating and extra walking helped balance out the treat. I'm down .2 and I'll gladly take it Now it's time for COFFEE!

Hi all,
We are at the Cape this weekend and the weather is great -sunny and warm for fall but cool nights.
Doug’s testing came back negative for Lyme Disease - thank goodness. They want to see him in three months just to double check and test again. Phew!
We met with another design build general contractor yesterday for a few hours and it was a very good and fruitful meeting. We may go the remodeling route but basically, that means a major renovation down to the studs with the roof off etc. and a large addition. We will meet with his designer/architect in November to go to the next step. It is all very preliminary now but we feel more encouraged.
Pam, wow, all that planting is amazing and so ambitious. Do you have a lot of land? Up here an acre or 2 lot is big. 😀 We have an acre here at the Cape but a much smaller parcel of land at home. Your sounds more like a farm. How nice! Congrats on the walking! We took a long walk with D&D yesterday.
Ann, I’m glad the memorial was nice. Funny when you said hydrate, my mind went to face moisturizer! Lol. That is how far my mind is from my water! We had a Mexican dinner last night at a local restaurant, I had half a steak burrito. Too much food but today and tomorrow will be salads and on plan. I do get sick of salads and I like Progresso soups too. The light ones are good!
Sue, glad you enjoyed Sweetest day. I never heard if it here, but I always maintain that people in the Midwest are sweeter overall than us easterners! 🤣. Good for you for starting your Christmas shopping early. I bought a couple ornaments for my DGKs and a couple neat puzzles from the NY Metropolitan Museum during a sale. DD is obsessed with elephants and I found a great puzzle for her. I also took advantage of Lands Ends sales recently with tops and a sweater. 😀
Pam, playing games online is a downfall for me and such a time waster. I hear you! I like books and my kindle since I’m free from outside distractions. One food issue I have is a habit of nibbling while I read. I need to find a cure. Any thoughts? Knitting is good because there are no hands free!
We arrived here here at the Cape to find our old second fridge that we use for drinks and water and wine was blowing HOT air. Yikes. Could have started a fire. Luckily we had nothing in the freezer. DH is reading up on how to fix it. He’s pretty handy and I think he secretly enjoys fixing things. I’ll bet Sue’s DH knows exactly how to fix it ! 😃
Off to get some breakfast. Have a good day!

Good Morning, WW Friends ~
Happy Sunday!! We have had an absolutely wonderful weekend! We enjoyed our lunch date yesterday very much! The Coney where we ate is owned by an old friend, so it was good to see him. We each had a Chili Dog with all the fixin's and shared an order of onion rings (because DH said they have the best and he was right). We sat in a small alcove and chatted and made it a memorable event.
Last night's Retrouvaille meeting was on the topic of Grief and Loss; so we weren't especially in to it. Not that we haven't suffered loss (because we have) but I think we handle it a bit differently. Whether that is because of the AA influence on acceptance or our personal beliefs, we don't tend to dwell there. In fact, we had chatted about DH's dad on the way across town and remembered some of our favorite funny stories. No regrets, no morbidity, just a happy reminiscence. That's how we choose to remember those we love who have gone on ahead. We were able to add some positivity to the group sharing, though I think people looked at us a bit askance. Everyone was jumping on the bandwagon to remember their worst death experience and that just wasn't our take on things, and we were toward the end of the sharing circle.
Judy ~ Enjoy your time at the Cape. Sorry about the fridge. That would be so disappointing. But depending on how old it is and what's wrong, it may be fixable. I also imagine your DH enjoys tinkering with things, I know mine does! Congrats on Doug's test results.
Ann ~ Congrats on the scale cooperating with you. You're right, of course, that the extra water and walking can do wonders!
Pam ~ Hope you have an absolutely wonderful Sunday!!
We are switching things up a bit today. DH's VBF is Up North with the kids and there is a 1 o'clock football game that DH wants to watch, so we decided to eat lunch at home (turkey sandwiches and butternut squash soup) and then go out for supper. We got an email that Ruby Tuesday (home of the most fabulous salad bar) is running a special today after 4 p.m. on the salad bar, so we decided we'd eat lunch at home and go out for supper. DH has been wanting their salad bar for a while, so the timing is perfect for us. The book I started two weeks ago when he watched football is so old I think I will just start it over today. I tried to get back into it yesterday but it didn't feel familiar, so I might as well begin again and enjoy it. It is an author I have read before and usually enjoy very much! I am just finishing up my cleaning from yesterday and will be getting dressed and made up for later.
BBL. Make a great day!!

Judy I bet it's beautiful at the cape this time of the year. Cool nights make for better sleeping Great news on DD testing negative. So happy that your vet is keeping tabs on it. Better safe than sorry. Bet that is a load of you and DH's mind. Good luck with the contractor! Sounds like you are both on the right path now. Good luck with it. Sorry to hear about the freezer blowing hot air. At least you didn't have anything but water and soda in there. I don't munch when reading. If I did I'd be in serious trouble LOL. No clue how to remedy that one. Only thing that comes to mind would be carrot sticks or some other crunch veggie. LOL to thinking facial hydration That put a smile on my face. I drink a boatload of water daily. I have two water bottles going at all times...one is 24 oz. and other other one is 20 oz. Sue that is awesome to enjoy lunch at home and go to RT's for lunch. Win-Win that the salad bar is on special Same thing has happened to me with books. If I leave them too long I forget what I'm reading!!!! Sue we share the same belief with grief and loss. We too don't want to dwell there. We all have a past and get through it in an individual way. TG Carl and I have a good support system going where we are able to talk things through and lift one another up during those trying times. We just got back from a good hood walk. One lady was out walking her huge black cat on a leash. She and LuLa are not buddies at all. I think it's a female territorial thing LOL...so we kept on moving I've already made hummus and have my crock pot filled with veggies and beans and low sodium beef broth for my veggie soup. When we go to bed, I'll put in on low in the crock pot and deal with it tomorrow. Carl does have his ultra sound tomorrow for his hernia. Please keep him in your prayers. Luckily it's at our local hospital right down the street, so no travel is involved. Pam hope you have a wonderful day. Doubt I'll get back into the cafe until tomorrow.

Good morning!
Yesterday was not a stellar one for me. I did skip the lunch at the lunch & learn chicken tortellini, Caesar salad and peach cobbler, but made up for it at DD's family football party: wings, mini-muffaletto, chicken taquitos, green bean bundles, spinach & artichoke dip and cream puff for dessert. Also several glasses of wine over the afternoon. The good news is, DD1 & I took a half-mile walk just before dark and after I got home, I decided I was still full and didn't need supper. I ate a chunk of cheese, though.
This morning at Mass we celebrated Catholic Daughter Day. Members sat together (except those of us in choir), took a group picture afterwards and then had a delicious breakfast of grits, eggs, biscuits, monkey bread, donuts, fruit and mimosas. I did NOT eat everything, but chose some of my favorite 3 and the fruit cup. I did have a second mimosa, though. Not sure what I will have for lunch, but it will be a light one, if I feel the need to eat at all. Dinner will be meatloaf, potatoes and carrots and some type of green vegetable, yet to be determined.
Pecan season is in full swing. DH has been using the picker, which sweeps up leaves and nuts, so I will be helping sort out the nuts. He cracks them during the day and picks the nut meat out while watching tv at night. He loves supplying family and friends and we always have the freezer in the outdoor fridge full of shelled nuts for cooking or roasting.
Sue - I like your idea that it is not good to wallow in grief as many people do. After a length of time, which I know is individual for each person, we have to go on with life, appreciating the good memories of the deceased, but living our own life of joy. I think it was good that others were able to vent, but toward the end, you and DH could give them that message of hope to think about.
Ann - Good job at managing your program to enjoy your favorite food events and still post a loss! I am also a believer in hydration as a big part of it. Good luck to Carl! He will be in my thoughts and prayers tomorrow.
Judy - Our house sits on 9/10 of an acre. DH's garden is pretty large and takes up a good bit of the backyard. I'll have to see if I can find a picture of it in summer. Good news about your DH not having Lyme disease. Your idea of knitting to keep from munching is good. I used to do cross stitch for the same reason, but haven't for a long time. I am pleased to hear that y'all may have found a solution regarding a house at the Cape. I know you'll miss being able to use the house for a while because the remodel will be extensive, but I'm sure you'll be happy you did it.
Well, time for me to go sort pecans and then prepare for this afternoon's bible study class at 4:00 pm. I am planning my walk for 5:30 pm after it cools off a bit. (Edited as Ann & I cross-posted)
