Good morning all. Just wanted to get us up and running for the week. October surely is going by quickly.
Today I'll go with Carl for the ultra sound and not sure what else we'll do after that. I'm good to just come back home.
Will pop in later.

Hi all,
Happy Monday. I started off the day with a dental cleaning. I'm having a little trouble with the areas around my top canine teeth (not sure of the number of those teeth...lol) but it turns out that a med I was on dried my mouth out to such an extreme that I could hardly talk and could never eat anything like a cracker. I went off that med, but it affected those teeth. Thankfully, it's a fixable situation by just a deeper cleaning today - ouch! - and the use of a non-alcohol based mouth wash (Listerine zero or total or something like that) and drinking water, water, water. Hydration! It's funny because my face has felt very dry along with my mouth so now I know why. Plus having the long cold and cough caused me to be a mouth breather. That hurt the gums, too. Teeth are SO important to overall health. Hey, does anyone have a recommendation for a good hydrating facial moisturizer? Nothing I am using seems to help right now.
Sue, I laughed so hard about your meeting and dining with the man in line at the deli. That is ME to a tee. I drive my family a little crazy because I have invited lots of people to sit with us and once made a lifelong friend on an airplane once. We corresponded for years. Sometime my husband who is much quieter and more solitary will say he sees a look in my eyes at a restaurant or an event, etc. and says "Wait, don't do it! Just sit and visit with me!" ha. I met my a woman who was my roommate at the hospital every month for a few years for lunch until she sadly passed away. It turned out that her name was in my mother's old Rolodex! But, we never figured out the connection. So, I guess, I too have never met a stranger. It's good most of the time, but I can be too trusting once in a while and DH will catch me on it. Like a few months back when a young woman ran up to us in a parking lot with a tale of woe about a flat tire and could we help. DH sensed some sort of set up and told her that she should go in and talk to the store manager. I was about to give her a ride. I have to be careful at times. So, your DH and I are of the same ilk. MY DS and my husband don't really get it. But, my DD is more like me in that respect. Not quite as much but more so!
I am off to a good WW start. I brought a salad with grilled chicken tenders that I made last night after we got home. I am feeling stronger and better this week. I feel like that bout of feeling so down is lifting. You all have helped! Tonight I have to head to a special town meeting as I am an elected town meeting member. This time it is about water quality. I think this is becoming a huge issue nationwide - sadly.
Ann, good luck with Carl on the ultra sound. Keep us posted. I read something funny about health at our age. If you feel old at 40 or 50, wait till you hit 60. That is when the CHECK ENGINE light keeps coming on for various reasons! Ha. Good analogy.
Pam, I'm glad you enjoyed all the food at the game. It's fun to join in and I think you've got this WW maintenance figured out.
Have a great day all.

Hi Judy. Happy the dental visit is an easy fix. I used a hydrating mouthwash along with alcohol free mouthwash and have done this ever since radiation therapy. This started just around that time. When I mentioned it to my oncologist at the time, that's what he suggested. The facial moisturizer I use is from Yves Rocher. I get it online. Love their products. It's the one for ahem...'aging skin' LOL. Comes in a brown jar if you google it...it should pop up! Prior to that I used Mary Kay. I was actually a consultant...or should I say 'flunkie consultant' as I never sold a thing or did the facials...I wanted the product for cost LOL. After about a year I gave up. I had to LOL on DH telling you to visit with him Also happy that you are off to a good weight watcher start. Sometimes we do get into a funk and need a lift. Happy to have been able to help Carl went for the ultrasound and has a follow up with a surgeon this coming Tuesday. I'm praying for good results. Beautiful day here...may go for a walk and a ride. Time will tell. I'm kind of in a lazy mode, so staying put also works for me. Take care.

Hi Ann,
We have a lot in common. I was also a Mary Kay Rep and before that an Avon Rep. I did pretty well with Avon years and years ago, but I was a MK flunkie, too, but only wanted the discount. I do like their skin care stuff. I will check out your suggestion. If it doesn't say Anti aging, I don't buy it. lol What is a hydrating mouth wash? I will look for that.
Have a nice walk. It is our kind of weather! Great for walking. I managed two walks yesterday and I do believe that perked up my spirits being outside.
Hoping Carl gets good ultrasound results.
TTFN!

Good afternoon! Laundry is almost done. No walk today as the weather is very wet. There is a cool front coming through spawning severe thunderstorms and tornadoes, but thankfully, we only got the rain. I need to hit the recumbent bike pretty soon or it won't get done. I started a new Liane Moriarty audio book yesterday that should keep me entertained while I huff and puff. It will also give my feet more time to heal up from Saturday's walk. I foolishly made the walk with DD in slip on shoes and no socks and have been regretting it since. I had to cut my walk yesterday short as the blisters were getting angry even with socks and walking shoes. I have the Alzheimer's caregiver support group this afternoon and then yoga. Dinner will be red beans, rice and a salad. I will also have some leftover smothered okra, but DH says he is "okra'd out", lol. He gave a bunch of okra to my sister-in-law's mom and she loved it. She is 90 and loves to cook. Lunch was a bit of leftover cube steak, green beans, new potato and steamed cauliflower and carrots, with a cherry Greek yogurt for dessert. Sue - I loved the account of your new friend! I am also one who talks to strangers, lol. Judy - My DH is also a trusting soul. One time a man approached him in the parking lot of a restaurant and asked for a ride. We were in separate vehicles that day for some reason and I don't think the man realized we were together. DH lets him in the pickup and I call him on his cell and ask WTH is going on? He tells me he is giving the guy a ride across the river to a town which is on our way. I told DH the man's intent is probably to rob him, and to make sure he knows I am following them. The guy is somewhat nervous and very vague about where he wants to be let out, but finally points to a gas station. After DH lets him out and we drive off, he is just standing there until we can no longer see him in the rear view mirror. To this day, I believe that was a disaster averted. Re: face cream, I like L'Oreal's Revitalift. I am glad the fog is lifting and you are feeling more positive. Exercise definitely has a positive effect on my mood. Ann - I'm jealous of your beautiful weather! Hopefully, ours will be clear and cooler tomorrow. Praying for a good report from Carl's test.

sunshinep396, Pam, yes, that is sort of the situation with the young woman in the parking lot of a Walmart. She looked desperate to me and said she'd had a dead battery (not a flat as I earlier said-it's coming back clearer to me now). She asked if we had jumper cables. I said yes. She asked if we would take her to her car and help her. My DH said it was a definite set up and there was probably a guy waiting to rob us at her car. He has a sixth sense that I lack. As soon as he suggested the store manager, she ran away fast looking for an easier target. Ugh. Live and learn. Thanks for the skincare idea. I have used Olay regenerist before. I have very dry skin all of a sudden.

LOL Judy on being a MK flunkie They do have great products. I've also used oil of olay regenerist. I've also used the revitalift. Both work well. Wow, you and Pam both have 'stories' to share. I have nothing to add...that would scare the heck out of me. I guess as my mom used to say 'it takes all kinds to make the world go round'. Judy I use biotene dry mouth oral rinse. Works well for me. All drugstores carry it as well as good ol Walmart Pam so sorry about your blisters. I can surely relate. I've done that before and it's not fun at all. I just threw in a load of laundry. I put it off long enough. Just towels, so no big deal. Hopefully your weather will cool down some. Again thank you all for your good vibes for Carl. Will surely keep you posted. Time for me to relax. I'm already 'jammified' Take care!

Hi Ann and all,
I went to my early morning WW and I was up a squeak but I will not beat myself up this time. I will stay until I get it going right. Baby steps and I'll track and plan this week. Nothing stopping me but one dinner out and I can choose wisely. Onward! I have a challenge tomorrow night with a dinner out, but I will plan ahead -it's the 99 and they have lots of healthy options.
I had a late night at the town meeting and then watched the Patriots for awhile. It was a blowout game and I figured they had it wrapped up so I went to bed in the 3rd quarter. It could have been a nail biter with the Jets quarterback but he was off his stride last night. You just never know. That's what keeps us in suspense.
My Cape neighbor wrote to say that we need to be careful because they had THREE coyotes on their deck Saturday night after their kittycat. They rescued their kitty - Mama Mia - and said it was a close call and the coyotes were VERY brazen. Ugh. I worry about D&D but they are never off leash and not out without us. I plan to carry a big stick when I walk them!
Have a great day and Ann, I like your plans! Which are open--ahhhh...how nice. I am getting closer to that!

Popping in again. Just waiting for Donna to come over. We are going to take a hood walk with LuLa. Carl went into Worcester today to get a few things and I'll most GLADLY skip that dance. I have enough around here to do to keep myself occupied in a much less stressful way LOL. Judy great attitude. My kinda gal The 99 does have a lot of low cal options available and they are all tasty. Wow to your Cape neighbor seeing coyotes. We have lots of wild life here. Whenever we go out afer dark, Carl carries a knife and flashlight. TG he's only had to use the latter. Better safe than sorry I always say. Well, need to get a move on. If I don't pop back in waving to Pam and Sue.

ann1953 , re: Mary Kay. I do love their anti-aging cleanser, night cream and day cream. They really work for me. I might splurge. Maybe it will be a reward for losing some lbs and I'll start a "tip" jar!

Hi, Cafe Dwellers! It is a beautiful, COOL day here, with lots of sunshine! I have windows open and will get in a walk later. I conducted a Medicare fraud bingo game for one of the Council on Aging senior centers this morning, in which a fraud-prevention tip is given with each letter/number called. They play until blackout--the entire card covered, which gives me time to give out many tips, with short explanations of some of them. The winner was pleased and said she had learned a lot, which made me happy. Judy - Don't let a slight blip derail your efforts. Try looking at 4 -5 week trends. As long as you weigh less than 4 or 5 weeks ago, you're doing just fine! Ann - Enjoy your quiet, errand-free day! Sue - Waving! Then I stopped by the hospice office for some materials on making difficult choices and dropped it off at a caregiver's house. Yesterday, that was the only caregiver that came to group, but it was a blessing. They shared that the loved one being cared for has just been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and we were able to talk privately and at length about the situation. There are more tests scheduled, but thus far, the doctors aren't optimistic. Treating severe illness is especially hard when the patient has Alzheimer's, as tests, hospitalization, anesthesia, etc. greatly exacerbate their symptoms, making it very difficult and frightening for them and heart-rending for their loved ones. Hopefully, the materials I left will help with things for the family to consider and discuss and questions to ask the doctors. Now, I am home washing sheets and doing some much-needed straightening up and cleaning. I hate to clean floors when it's wet out because DH goes in and out all day long and while he tries to clean his shoes, he sometimes forgets or doesn't do a good enough job. I will get our dinner of meatloaf, potatoes and carrots (postponed from a couple days ago) cooking before I head to RCIA. That way, if DH gets hungry before I get back, he can eat. Lunch was leftover tuna salad and my last honey crisp apple.

Good Afternoon, WW Friends ~
I have been enjoying catching up with all of you. I never got online yesterday because I ran some errands right from school and then got home in time to start supper. We had grilled Tilapia with Pasta-Roni and mixed vegetables.
I had ordered some name badge holders from Amazon because mine was getting old and discolored. They arrived (as promised) on Sunday afternoon. I was so excited! Until I discovered that no matter how I tried, I could not get them open to insert my name badge. I had 6 of them, and tried 3 to no avail. I finally got frustrated and decided to send them back. Amazon advertises their free and easy returns, so I went on my Amazon account and requested to return them. They gave me a return code, and a page to print, so I printed it and put it in the Amazon bag with the item. Then I went to Kohl's after school and took the bag to Customer Service, and just as promised, they accepted it and took care of it. By the time I got home, my refund was already in process online. Meanwhile, I stopped at Office Max and bought a package of badge holders, as the clerk opened the package for me and we made sure I could insert my name badge. Now I'm happy and also pleased at how easy Amazon made the return.
Kohl's gifted me with a 25% off coupon for doing my return with them, so I shopped the store for a while, but didn't find anything I couldn't live without. My coupon is good for a week, so I will try the other Kohl's store in the next few days. Maybe I'll find another new top to enjoy.
I was enjoying the discussion about moisturizers. I have used Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisture for years and it has worked very well for me. I actually began having less skin problems when I started using mineral make-up. I started off with Bare Minerals and then while in Ulta one day I bought a Pur Minerals 4-in-1 compact and love the ease of it. I have been wearing it for several years and honestly my skin has never been better! I also use the Ulta mineral blush with it. I only wish I had known about it years earlier!
Tonight I am making a venison chili mac using up the last frozen ground venison in the fridge and the last of the over-ripe tomatoes. I am planning to make a side salad to have with it.
Judy ~ I have to totally agree with Pam about looking at the bigger picture. Look at your weight over a larger period of time and see where you're at. But whatever you do, don't become discouraged!
Pam ~ I have no problem talking to strangers but I would never leave with them in a car or otherwise. We have had some interesting experiences being open to some of those around us. Life is too short to be shut in - but it is also very wise to be prudent.
Ann ~ We also have wildlife around here. We frequently see deer passing through the tree line, and have seen coyotes (rarely) and once a fox. He was walking up our sidewalk on a lazy Sunday afternoon and DH told me to "look" and when I turned around, the fox and I both stared with a start (like two cartoon characters) and he turned tail and ran as I laughed. We don't have any fur babies to be threatened by them, so it isn't so much of a concern.
Time for me to go start some supper. BBL. Make a great day!!
