Monday, Monday...can't trust that day! This one seems like a very good one with temps expected to rise to nearly 60 degrees. We may be paying for this snow-less winter with water restrictions later on, but it sure feels good right now. I brought my sneakers to work and plan to take a nice walk at noon. The fresh air gives me energy for the afternoon. I made the Chicken sauce picante recipe yesterday using chicken thighs (skinned and boned) and chicken breasts (DH only likes those!) and made a large pot of Basmati rice in my rice cooker. Other than the rice and a few pts for the chicken thighs, it was a very healthy dinner and so delicious! I found lower salt crushed tomatoes and other ingredients and even the no salt Cajun seasoning in the brand that Cook's Country recommended as the best. Tony something or other. DH and I are now set for the week. We have a few tomato sauce recipes but we like that. I will freeze some of the spaghetti sauce. Glad you are better, Sue. Ann, your shopping trips sound like mine with many things hopping into my cart as I go down the aisles.lol Pam, sorry about Jude's broken thumb but he is lucky to have a grandma who bakes him goodies. You are very generous and fun! Good news overall for your new deck. We will be meeting with our architect and builder soon. I had to rearrange the March 7th meeting because DS, DDIL and DGS are coming for the weekend on the only "free" one we can find. I don't want to miss a moment with them. The upcoming meeting with the builder will help us make a decision on the route we want to take. I am a bit nervous about the undertaking of such a huge project with DH's health showing some decline and issues. It's scary to me but one day at a time and we have invested in the architectural plans so want to hear the scope of the project and the cost. No matter what the outcome we will always keep that property and house on it if we decide not to build. It is our retreat. We'll need to invest a bit in things like a new roof, etc. and leave it overall in the condition it is in should we decide not to tear down and rebuild.

Ann, thank you for the book recommendation. I will check it out. I am reading a book called The Gardner Heist now. It is fascinating because it is all about the largest fine arts theft in the world right here in Boston. It was never solved. It's a world I know nothing about so it's interesting!

We just came back from an extended hood walk. It was so nice to be out and about in this beautiful weather. I'm so loving it and so is miss LuLa Nothing was left un-sniffed LOL. Between the sniffing and the nose diving in the snow, she puts a smile on everyone's face. Judy your meals sound awesome. Nothing like cooking ahead and having it all ready when you are. Judy praying that you and DH make the right decision for you. I'm sure you will. Thanks for the book recommendation. I also know nothing about that sort of thing. Sounds like a fun and interesting read. Our friends had to cancel out for today. There is an emergency situation with one of their daughters. I understand fully and look forward to setting up something else with them soon. Going to heat my veggie bean soup for lunch toast a Joseph's pita bread to go along side it. Will CBL

Good morning Cafe friends! My 2 1/2 days of sunshine are but a beautiful memory. It will start raining soon as another front passes through today, with temps dropping into the 40's by Wednesday. I am ready for spring if only to get some consistent sunshine. Laundry is going and I have the oven on cleaning cycle. Figured I should get that done while it's still warm enough to have windows open. The oven smelled terrible last evening when DH heated the tator tots for dinner. As I wiped out the oven prior to setting the cleaning cycle, I found a plastic twist tie, which may have accounted for some of the awful fumes. Anyway, the oven has needed a cleaning cycle for a while and today is the day. Next week, I'll try to get the bottom oven cleaned. It's not nearly as dirty because we mostly use the smaller top oven. My back is terribly sore this morning, which I attribute to our need for a new mattress, since I don't hurt like this after sleeping at the camp. Mattress shopping is being put on our to-do list. Any recommendations as to brand? Jude will see the hand surgeon today. It's his middle finger, not the thumb, and luckily his non-dominant hand. We're hoping he will still be allowed to participate in track this season. Not sure about discus and jumping events, but I can't see where running will risk further injury. I am hitting reset this morning after the scale was up 1.5 lbs. from Friday. Yoga this evening and I plan to do a gradual workout of sit-ups and squats that has served me well in the past. twohundredsitups.com/ I doubt I can do 10 correctly and I like that I can start from where I am and work my way up. I don't really plan to do even 100. I just want to build some muscle and work off some "muffin top" so my clothes fit better. Building core strength should also help with my back strain. I am leaning toward a PB&J sandwich for lunch made with PB2, along with fruit and veggies. Dinner will be beef and broccoli stir-fry made with leftover steak and lots of veggies. A sodium bomb, but extra water will take care of that. Sue - I'm happy to hear you and DH are both feeling better! Ann - I'm with you on longing for spring. Judy - Tony's is our favorite Cajun seasoning. The last name, Chachere, is pronounced "Sash-er-ree". For a while, I worked in Opelousas in part of the building where the seasoning was made. The pepper seemed to seep through the walls and would have us choking and tearing up, lol. I was lucky I worked in an area farthest from the wall separating the two sides of the building. Those right next to the wall really suffered. It was temporary quarters until a new building was built, but we had moved to my home parish by the time they moved to the new building. Have a great day, all!

Pam I'm hoping that your nice weather doesn't take its sweet time getting back to you. I would much rather snow than rain...but I'm sure I'm in the minority. Rain is just too wet and depressing I hear you on the oven. I'm sure it will be sweet smelling in no time. I'm also doing laundry Should be done soon and then so will I Our mattress is a Sterns and Foster (I think). There are so many mattresses out there. Good luck in finding one that's a good fit at a good price. My weight has also been in the creeping up mode. I'm still in my 'happy zone' so I'm good with it. Funny, but when I look over my journal nothing pops out at me...probably just body fluctuations. I admire all that do exercise other than walking. Just added Tony's seasoning to my list. Thanks for the recommendations, girls. I love spicy. Dryer just buzzed. Time to get domesticated once again before I hit the sectional. Will CBL

Hi again,
I am feeling rejuvenated after a nice 45 minute walk with a dear friend/co-worker. She has the most wonderful outlook on life and is so kind. We have great chats when we walk. It felt good to get some fresh air.
Ann, sorry about your friends having to cancel, but I guess that is how it goes at times. We all have things come up. Life gets in the way of fun sometimes!
Pam, we also love Stearns and Foster mattresses. We have them at the Cape and at home. Our kids love the Tempur-Pedic mattresses, but I’m a fan of the more conventional hotel top style with lots of back support. Good luck shopping. Mattresses have come a long way but they are so expensive these days. Thanks, too, for the pronunciation on Tony’s seasonings and the background info. The seasoning is very tasty! I forgot to mention to you that we ordered the No Salt version on Amazon and they sent me the full salt. So, after I complained, they sent me both the Lite Salt and the No Salt so now I have all three to mix and match. LOL I thought of you eating my dinner last night and leftovers at noon today. Other than the rice, it was very low in pts. Also, Pam, that sit up site looks great. But, I don't think I could do sit ups to save my life right now. I remember when I thought 100 was not hard and those days are behind me.
I am a little disgusted that when I tried on a dress for the “Sprinkle” that it was snug. I could wear it but felt like a sausage. Ugh. So I found another one and vowed to get this eating under control and start walking more. Good weather helps.
Have a great rest of the day. I am planning a trip to CA at the end of March for DD and DGD’s birthdays which are both during the same week. We had wanted to go for Easter, but that’s not possible now as I will cover for my colleague having surgery in early April.
P.S. I meant to ask- Pam and I are now Transcendent members and Ann is Legendary and Sue is Fabled! What are these new titles? LOL We are a very impressive crew.

Ha! I never realized I was "Transcendent"! I am sure it has to do with the number of posts.
Our rain has arrived, but I had to open windows anyway as the fumes from the oven are so strong. Only 45 minutes to go!
Jude will spend Mardi Gras having surgery. His finger was broken, not fractured, and has started healing wrong, so will have to be re-broken and pinned. The good news is he will be able to run again in 3 weeks when the stitches are out. The first track meet is 3/15/20, so he may miss that one.
I am getting little nagging tasks done in between laundry loads. Off to research Stearns & Foster mattresses!

Judy love the new picture. I really should change mine...low and behold to say that I stink at computer stuff is an understatement Glad you got a nice walk in. We did as well. I agree, life DOES get in the way. LOL nothing like having a spice variety Happy Amazon made good on it for you. Again I agree..it's much easier to walk when the weather is nice. I find when I walk more I tend to want to not do the 'mindless eating' as much. Pam so sorry about Jude's finger. Ouch to the finger needing to be broken and pinned. Praying that all goes well this time around. Hope the fumes are now under control. LOL I did read where the new 'titles' were just for fun. I did comment that I've been called many things....but NEVER legendary LOL. Donna called me and asked if I wanted to go to the Verizon store with her. Apparently her cell phone died and wanted to get a new one and have all the information transferred. I went with her. Took longer than anticipated as there was only one person there running the entire show! He was good but but very slow. Almost appeared at times that he didn't know what he was doing...but in the end it all worked out. We had a nice visit and stopped for coffee and chatted afterwards. It was nice enjoying her company without all the drama. Supper is done and now it's time for me to sit and relax. Sleep well all.

Happy Tuesday. Another good sleeping night for which I'm grateful. Today is going to be a tad cooler than yesterday with not as much sunshine. Hopefully I'll still get a good walk in. We also have errands to run.
Will CBL...enjoy your day.

Popping in again before we head on our to run our errands. Took a short walk. It's still pleasant out there...just not too much sunshine and it feels damp. That dampness makes my joints ache, especially my lower back so we cut it short.

Hey all,
Happy Tuesday. It is still nice out but a tad cooler as you said, Ann. I'll take it! I just came back from the local diner where we celebrated a friend's birthday. I had the half order of roast pork with two veggies and mashed potatoes. This place is unbelievable for the wonderful food at such an inexpensive price! It looked much larger than a half order but my entire meal + a diet coke was $5.50. Nowhere like it. We are all friendly with the owner and she's great to students - even feeding those who are on loads of loans and strapped for cash for food. Good-hearted! I am pretty well full now and will have a very light dinner.
I went to my WW workshop today and even after all the steroids, I stayed exactly the same weight. No loss-no gain. Good news overall, but I am there to lose, after all. This week will be different!
Ann, you are a good soul to accompany Shelia to the Verizon store. Those visits are often long and hectic. Glad it worked out and that you had a nice, peaceful visit minus the drama.
Pam, so sorry about Jude's finger having to be re-broken and re-set. Ouch, double ouch, but it's for the best, I am sure. At least he will be back for track season. That's good news! How old is Jude? I forget! And, your note about the oven reminds me that I must clean ours. I know what you mean about the smell. I try to set it for when we are out of the house.
Have a great day all! I'll check in later.
