Awesome job on the maintain Judy. So happy you enjoyed a hearty bday celebration meal out.
On our way home from errands. May skip the walk today. Just a tad too damp for me.

Good Afternoon, WW Friends ~ Happy Tuesday!! My DH read me from the paper about today being Fat Tuesday, but we didn't celebrate. Judy ~ I have been maintaining for months now. Seems no matter how well or little I eat, I stay the same. I am hoping that adding some exercise (now that I have a gym membership) will make the difference. But I'm certainly not going to beat myself up (and neither should you) as I have been sick for a month now. Ann ~ I agree with you about the dampness. It wasn't so terribly cold here today but it was windy and the air was so damp that it actually hurt the skin on my face when I was on the playground. Pam ~ Good luck with your mattress shopping. I see so many choices advertised now-a-days that when it is time for us to get a new one it will be truly mind-boggling! I am slowly but surely feeling a bit better. Not quite as fatigued today. DH woke up this morning saying "I feel better!". Every day I ask him, and every day he is a bit afraid to say he does. But today he volunteered it. I talked to him after school and he has been working all day and got a couple of jobs done so that makes him feel good. While he was so sick, he lamented the fact that he "couldn't even work". He loves what he does, and has wonderful customers, and the extra $$ come in handy. Now that he is back to work, it will improve his disposition and outlook. I am thankful for our mild weather as our indoor/outdoor thermometer needed new batteries today. They last about exactly six months, so we always end up changing them in the cold & snow once. Right now we are coming off a sunny 50 dg weekend, so it wasn't bad at all. DH brought in the outdoor sensor and removed the batteries this morning, then I read the directions and put new batteries in both components. Then I reinstalled the outdoor sensor and now it is working great and the read-out is nice and dark. Little things really do please me. VBF and I are planning to go to WW tomorrow for WI and then Starbuck's coffee. Of course, we are predicted to have a snow storm tonight into tomorrow, so we'll have to see. DH and I are having Turkey 4-Bean Chili tonight. Tomorrow night DH will toss a salad while I'm gone and we'll reheat some homemade pizza from DH's VBF. I don't think I mentioned that I went this weekend and joined our local High School Pool & Fitness Center. My membership will be paid for by Silver Sneakers (which I have been a member of for about 5-6 years now through my Medicare Advantage Plan). I recently saw an article that our school district now accept Silver Sneakers so I called, and sure enough, they do. There is a pool, a walking track (indoor and outdoor) and in the building across the street, a couple dozen different classes. I am looking forward to enjoying some of those. I used to go to a local gym that had classes that coincided with my last position at the school, but when I changed jobs and the time changed, I could no longer do that. Anyway, I enrolled and got my ID key fob so I'm good to go. I may try getting there some Fridays as well as days we don't have school. There are also some evening classes. BBL. Make a great rest of the day!!

Back home and picked up all we needed and then some. It was a nice ride into Gardner. We also stopped at Big Lots but their selection has really gone downhill. I doubt we'll go back there. Such a waste of time. Sue your weather sounds like ours. Our sun DID come out, but not for very long. It does feel better out there, though, so I'll take it. So happy that you and DH are both feeling better. I so agree on DH getting back into this routine. Nothing like it to perk up the ol' spirits Enjoy your WW meeting and Starbucks coffee time after. LOL to all those little things. They surely DO make for a happier time. Love when things all fall together like that. Awesome on the silver sneakers and the new classes. Keep us posted as to how you like it. Enjoy your chili. Tonight we are having stuffed peppers. I bought them awhile ago stuffed them and froze the rest. Somehow they got stuck in the way back of the freezer. I went 'freezer surfing' and found them LOL...that will be mighty tasty and a nice quick and easy meal. Time to walk miss LuLa...waving......

Happy Mardi Gras!!!
I got a call Monday night from Abby begging me to take her to Mardi Gras. "Grammie, PLEEEEASE!!!" melted my heart. We skipped the morning parade, but I picked her and Anna up about 12:30 to go to the 2:00 parade. We walked a long way from where we parked to where we decided to watch, so I got in my steps for the day. I told Anna to find one of her friends and we would watch the parade from there, so she could hang with a friend instead of just Grammie and her little sister. She chose well and I enjoyed visiting with the family. Her friend's grandmother is the receptionist at the hospice office and her other grandmother worked with my mom, so we enjoyed visiting. I had friends across the street and Abby found some of her classmates to play with while we waited for the parade to start. The girls caught two shopping bags of beads and various stuffed animals and trinkets. A good time was had by all.
When we got back to DD1's, I got to hear all about how goofy the anesthesia made Jude. His surgery went well and they got lots of laughs afterward as Jude, normally very shy and quiet, raved about how beautiful all his nurses were. His dad started videoing his antics. He told all the nurses they were gorgeous, confessed to loving both his little sisters and advised his dad to take his mom on a date. They showed me the video and it is hilarious. He was sad at missing Mardi Gras and having to spend his week off from school calm and quiet while his hand heals, but did laugh at the video. He, of course, doesn't remember any of it.
DH made shrimp poblanos, chicken taquitos and rice mixed with veggies for our dinner. By the time the traffic had cleared and I got home, it was after 6:00pm, so I was thankful to relax with a glass of wine while he cooked.
Sue - Your Silver Sneakers deal sounds great! I wish we had something similar here.
Judy - Yay for the maintain! Onward and downward.
Ann - I love both stuffed peppers and finding such treasures in the freezer when stumped for what to cook for dinner.
I'm going to get jammified and read a bit before bed. We just had a power "blip" that resulted in a minute of total outage. Hoping it doesn't repeat.

Good morning all. It rained quite heavily last night. Not doing a thing now, but looks like we are in for more rain. Happy that all our running around is done. Pam LOL to Abby begging you to take her to Mardi Gras. You are so special to her Sounds like you Anna Jude and Abby all have a great time together. Also loved reading about Jude. Thanks for sharing. Nothing special on our agenda for today. I'm thinking a salad with grilled cheese for supper...or if I'm 'creative' a tuna casserole. Time will tell.... Waving........

Good Morning, WW Friends ~
Happy Hump Day!! We have a Snow Day today. It was called rather early last evening (as well as all the surrounding areas) and then we had very minimal snow overnight. Most of the predicted snowfall was for today anyway, and I think the rationale was that though getting the kiddos to school wouldn't be a problem, getting them home might well be. Our last Snow Day was a dud, and it looks like this one may be as well. Nonetheless, we are all glad for the day off.
I had been enjoying a leisurely cup of coffee until I received a call from a Retrouvaille wife. We usually prefer to talk with both parties with both of us present, but I had been asked to talk to her, so I said I would. She had some very good questions and didn't turn it into a "B**tch" session at all. So we ended up talking about an hour and I think they will rethink their decision to skip the final Post Session this Sunday. She also mentioned getting together as couples, which may help them both.
Pam ~ Your Mardi Gras festivities sound like a wonderful time and something that I would totally enjoy!! How nice that Abby found friends to hang out with - AND bagsful of goodies! I had to LOL about Jude's experience. That video should be priceless!!
Ann ~ Bummer about your Big Lots being a disappointment! I love stuffed peppers and especially the (red/yellow/orange) ones from Costco. Must be time for me to buy them again.
Judy ~ Yay for you getting in a 45 minute walk! I would love to do that. Right now I am trying to talk myself into going downstairs and riding my bike and doing my Power Rider. So far, no good ......
Our snow is very minimal now, though the wind seems to be picking up. I wonder if we'll be going this afternoon?? I suspect we will have school tomorrow (though I would prefer not). :-)
BBL. Make a great day!!
Judy ~

Well we did get to take a hood walk. Just as we finished breakfast the sun came out. Didn't take me long to saddle up Carl and LuLa and go for a hood walk. The sun was in and out, but no wind or rain so it was quite pleasant out there. We are in for periods of heavy rain. Just happy we were able to be out and about. Another blessing Sue sorry for you snow. That is just so wrong. We want SPRING! Enough of the winter already lol. Hopefully Mother Nature is listening ... Yeah it's a shame about Bit Lots. WE used to so love shopping and browsing around in there. Whenever you entered the store you were always greeted. Now it seems like the staff couldn't care less one way or the other. I'll still to Ocean State Job Lots where the deals are great and the service is wonderful. Places that sell and give shoddy service don't need my business! What a blessing to have a good conversation and not a B--ch fest over the phone. Hopefully that relationship will continue. Keeping all body parts crossed that you have a snow day tomorrow I'm on the fence about supper. It has to be meatless. I'm thinking either a tuna noodle casserole, grilled cheese and tomato soup or tuna sandwiches with air fries...decisions decisions. Sue, maybe I'll borrow your snow and have grilled cheese and tomato soup in your honor Tomorrow I do have to weigh in for the month. February is a hard month for me. I'll be lucky to have a maintain......I'm still below their goal so it's still a freebie for me. Also be interesting to see how they are going to upgrade the e tool vouchers. I'm hoping it happens without a glitch. Time for another coffee.... Will CBL

Hi all, and happy Mardi Gras to all - especially Pam! Pam, are the parades all over the state? Do you see one in BTR? Fun - I am sure I would love that and our only tiny equivalent is the 4th of July parade at the Cape when the grand kids come home with all the bags of toys and goodies - mostly candy! I cracked up reading about Jude's anesthesia experience. Hilarious! I remember my mom telling me that people were walking on the ceiling and she told all the nurses that she had four sons but that I was her only "darling" daughter. She would never say things like that ordinarily! She was good to me, but definitely did not shower praise or play favorites. LOL I am glad Jude enjoyed the video, too.
Sue, I am happy that your DH is on the mend and that you are as well. I can understand people wanting to confide in you with their troubles. I would totally do that, too, as you are so compassionate and understanding. How wonderful that you helped that woman when she needed someone. Also, I am envious of your nice high school having all those facilities and taking your Silver Sneakers. I am going to check out that program. I believe we do have it around here. That's terrific! A pool, a gym, etc. at no cost. We seniors deserve those perks. :-) I also so agree with you and Ann - it is the little things that make the quality of life good. Sometimes we take that stuff for granted until we don't have it.
Ann, I have never been to Big Lots, but I have gone to Ocean States. We have two very close by at the Cape and one here. I meant to tell you that after my WW session, I ducked into Trader Joe's for the 21 seasoning Salute - salt free seasoning that you mentioned. The clerk pointed it out for me. And DH seemed to like it on his chicken last night. I have not yet gone to Ocean States to get the other seasonings, but I will. I have several of Mrs. Dash's on hand in the meantime. We had the creole dish last night so we are in rotation to finish up the meals I made. Makes life easier at 6 PM when I get home. I also bought several turkey "Chomps" at TJs. They are like beef jerky but only 1 pt according to another WW member. Good protein.
Did anyone see the murder spoof Knives Out? I may be seeing it tonight and so I am just wondering. I started another suspenseful book called Behind Her Eyes. I had it on reserve.
Oh, I did 3 loads of laundry last night while I watched the slug fest debate. This morning I cast my early ballot vote to avoid lines on Super Tuesday.
Have a good day all.

Judy ~ Thanks for the reminder - I also need to fill out and mail my ballot for upcoming Primary. I received it a while ago, and have been sitting on it. Guess I better get it out this week?? Yep, it certainly beats waiting in line on that day. I get all my voting done by absentee ballot and just love it!!
It is great that there are some perks for us Seniors. I especially appreciate Silver Sneakers. When I first joined, there were only a few gyms around me that accepted it - and only ONE that had classes. They were great because they had a trainer on staff who was especially Silver Sneakers certified. Now when I check online, there are many gyms that accept it - and our HS is one of the best (and only a mile from home).
I slept well last night, though I dreamed quite a lot. I woke refreshed this morning, and even moreso when DH reminded me that it was a Snow Day!! I still have some things I want to get done around here, so I better get back to it.
BBL.

In our small simple town the polls are never busy. Not so when living in Worcester and having to dodge all those last minute campaign people scurrying about.
Judy I try to not take a blessed thing for granted. Sometimes it's easier said than done. I do have a gratitude journal that I jot in from time to time. Not religious with it as I once was. Perhaps that would be a good thing to do for lent!
Happy that DH enjoyed the 21 Seasoning Salute from TJ's. I use that on everything these days. You are not missing much from Big Lots.
Sue yes it's nice to know that places still give out discounts to senior citizens. Every little bit helps.
Just finished doing the last load of laundry and putting it all away.
Had soup for lunch. Now going to read a bit.
Ciao

Sigh...Just lost another long post, so this will be much shorter and succinct. We went to Mardi Gras in the town next to ours which has one of the oldest Mardi Gras parades in the state. Mainly, there are parades in NOLA and it's suburbs, New Roads (ours)and Lafayette. Oddly, BTR has no parades on Mardi Gras Day. It's too close to NOLA and couldn't draw enough interest the few years they tried. They have parades leading up to Mardi Gras, like the one we went to near my sister's house on the 16th. In places like Mamou, Ville Platte and Churchpoint, they have the traditional Cajun Courrier de Mardi Gras. Here's a link to that: www.wafb.com/2020/02/25/mamou-celebrates-mardi-gras-with-begging-chicken-not-floats-parades/ I have never been, but am told by those who have participated that it is fun. Today, I've been prepping for our interviews to select a new credit union CEO. Had I known ours would retire this year, I'd have thought twice about accepting the president of the board position. Luckily, the members of the selection committee are very capable and engaged. We will interview the 5 candidates on March 4 and make a selection by March 16, which the full board will vote on via phone conference at some point so we can officially announce it at the annual meeting March 25. I will be glad when it's over and done. We have a CU meeting this evening, so I will be headed to BTR. Judy - Jude is 14. I haven't seen Knives Out, but it's on my list. I've heard it's good. Ann - I was never impressed with our area Big Lots. It seemed very overpriced. Bless you for accompanying Sheila! I'd rather take a beating than go to a phone store, even when I'm the one shopping, lol. Sue - Enjoy your snow day.

Pam thanks so much for sharing that wonderful part of your Mardi Gras history with us. Carl and I both enjoyed it. Praying that you find a good replacement for your credit union CEO. I hear you on had you known beforehand not accepting your position. At least you are in good company with those that want to make it all good. Good luck Actually it wasn't Sheila that I went to the phone store with, but her daughter Donna. Donna has moved out of her house and moved in with her partner two houses down. Sheila (her mom) needs a LOT of care and Donna just got tired of being IT. She has a sister that never comes around...need I say more...I feel badly for George Sheila's husband as he is now getting the brunt of it. Sheila really should have help coming into her home, but she is against it and fighting Donna and George all the way. It's not a good situation. Since Donna has moved out, I see a big improvement in her outlook. I'm not fond of her boyfriend....but that's okay. She is happy with him and Carl and I are happy for them. There is just something about him that is 'off'....my gut feeling about him is negative...nuff said. I shall continue to take a back seat. Luckily when I see Donna he isn't with her. That works for me. Our rain never really came for which I'm most grateful. We were able to take two substantial hood walk. Judy forgot to say I added Knives Out to our watching list and Behind Her Eyes to my reading list Thanks for the suggestions. Speaking of reading...going to read a bit before I fall asleep again. This is just a lazy day for me Later...........

Good Afternoon, WW Friends ~
Well, it began snowing this morning (about mid-morning) and it is still snowing (and it's 3:30ish). I called VBF about our plans to meet at WW and WI today and go for coffee. She was out this morning and the main roads were"okay" but it has continued to snow ever since then. When we played the tape all the way out - we agreed that driving to WW probably wouldn't be a problem, but the (longer) trip home from Starbuck's at dusk in rush hour traffic (and more snow) may be something we'd rather avoid. So we put our date on hold for now. I am bummed because we haven't gotten together for a while. We had to cancel last week because I wasn't up to it, so we were counting on catching up. Instead we enjoyed an hour long telephone conversation and made a coffee date for next Wednesday.
I just received another weather alert on my phone "Winter Weather Advisory Through Midnight". Glad we made the choice that we did. Earlier I received an alert that all school district activities are cancelled for tonight. More shall be revealed, I am surel.

Pam, I loved hearing all about the traditional Mardi Gras celebrations and I watched the videos of the celebration chasing the chickens in the colorful costumes and the Cajun Courir de Mardi Gras. I love the begging rituals and the capuchon type “cone” hats. (I researched names- lol) Someday I have to get there to see it all! I am learning so much from you. I have one other friend from a southern Louisiana small town. But, she has been here for so many years now. And my old high school beau’s family was all from Monroe. So, you are adding so much to my daily culture and learning about history. Whatever happened to the woman who was writing the book about your area? Any word on it? My cousin and his wife from CT are in NOLA now for Mardi Gras.
Ann, glad Donna is doing better and has moved out from her mother’s home. That is so hard and sometimes you can’t convince stubborn people to get needed help or to see doctors, etc. Ugh. I agree that it’s nice you don’t have to see the boyfriend. I know what you mean. It’s hard when you like “half” of a couple, but good you can see Donna alone. Enjoy that grilled cheese and tomato soup- perfect combination in my book. We are having takeout Indian food tonight – vegetarian.
Sue, good call on the hunkering down in snow. I am a terrified snow driver so I always take the cautious route there. I’d be a wreck sitting there having coffee watching snow and traffic pile up. Glad you had a phone visit!
