luanne, I think right now I'm happy when anyone in Trump's orbit gets the virus except for the everyday staff people. Want it to show they don't know what they are doing.

Had a robo call from our mayor this afternoon. In the last week we've had 61 new cases of COVID-19 and over the summer we never went over 20 new cases a week. The rest of the call was about taking precautions and when and where free testing is available. He also mentioned that the upswing wasn't related to kids going back to in-person school.

My concern is he'll go on about how strong he is because he survived COVID but point out how scared and weak Biden is and that we don't know if Biden would survive it. How right you were. Vanity Fair had an article about Stephen Miller and his wife. They are even creepier than I thought they were. And I thought they were pretty darn creepy.

We get a daily update from our Mayor about COVID. Today they reported 49 new cases. Our positivity rate (cases per 100,000 residents) was 17.2 the week 10/08 -- 10/14, the rate 9/27 -- 10/10 was 2.7%.

Ohio is surging, set 3 all time high record cases in the last week. We've had 2,100 both Thursday and Friday. Positivity is just under 4%. I very rarely see anyone without a mask. What the hell?

And, one of our two high schools they shut down in-person classes and did online only classes today. Over the weekend they'll announce what they will do about next week. There were six cases of COVID-19 cases in the school community. They are from the kids socializing outside of school.

a friend of theirs, the mom keeps arranging all these big playdates with a whole handful of kids and i decline them every single time. i have no idea what she's thinking and it's obvious she's not taking this seriously.
and at the end of the day i feel like telling her "we're never going to get back into the classroom at this rate if you keep hanging out in big groups!" this is why LA county is still in the purple tier (the worst one).

Really I don't get what people are not getting about the serious of the situation. Good for you for not following the crowd.

it disappoints the girls, but they understand. people hanging out and socializing in groups not of their own household seems to be where the spread is happening. our county doesn't allow indoor dining yet so it's not that, and salons can only open at 25% capacity with full mask wearing (not sure how much mask wearing is actually happening but i'd think the stylists and salon employees would want to avoid getting sick so i assume they enforce it). gyms can open for outdoor workouts, no indoors at all. indoor malls are closed.
we're just so sick of this quarantine and it's only made worse by everyone who doesn't obey the rules and thinks they should continue living life as normal while the rest of us do our part. it's extremely frustrating. the girls can't even go back to school yet because of these rule-bending or rule-avoiding fools. once we get to the next tier (red) they can go back to school on their staggered, masked, and outdoor learning schedules.

Caught a story on the CBS nightly news about how bad it is getting with virus cases, plus dire predictions. And of course DT is siding with his guy who says it is almost over and herd immunity is the was to go.

And he's slamming Fauci because Fauci is believable and more popular. Because, you know, that just can't be!
