lani, I was wondering about that because they're pushing the booster, flu and shingles all at the same time -seem like it might be immune system overload.

DH is getting his flu shot Saturday. I will get mine Wednesday. There was almost zero flu last season due to all the masking and other safety measures. However, this year, health officials are warning the flu may make a big comeback. I keep hearing it's OK to get your Covid booster and flu vax at the same time. Thinking about it, I don't think I've ever had any reaction to a flu shot other than a sore arm, so it should be all right. I had a reaction to the flu shot last year so I prepared myself for one this year. And sure enough, I had a reaction. Not as bad as last year, but I still had some fatigue and light-headedness the day after. Since I had also had a reaction after the second Covid shot I did not want to schedule the flu shot and 3rd Covid shot for the same day. Good thing, as I had reactions to both. Milder than last year, and the 3rd shot reaction was milder than the 2nd shot. I don't know what it would have been like if I'd had them at the same time.
Up until last year I'd never had a reaction to a flu shot.

Up until last year I'd never had a reaction to a flu shot. Guess it's like allergies. They say you can develop an allergy that you've never had, no matter your age. DH and I have had runny noses for the past few days. No smoke in the air, I've changed the furnace filters, vacuumed and dusted. No joy. So I'm thinking allergies, even though we aren't usually bothered with them. I did hear on TV that October is bad for allergies in my area (West coast) until the rains come and knock all the pollen down.

lani, October can be bad for allergies back here in Connecticut. I still remember taking a walk with my husband one October Sunday and the next morning my face felt like it had been hit by a truck and I was supposed to start a new job that day. I shouldered on through and took allergy meds.

They make me sleepy or jumpy, depending on the type. If it gets too bad I will go for the Afrin, but you can't use it for more than 3 days, I think, and each time has to be 12 hours apart. It does work like a champ for those 3 days though.

lani, I can't do Benadryl. I used it once and I was so wound up I was thinking of taking it and quitting my anti-depressant. After a few days it became apparent I should stop taking it. I remember trying to go to sleep and I was so awake. My friend couldn't understand it since it put her to sleep.

bbbearsmom, Statista shows Vermont the lowest, but Connecticut is definitely in the lower quarter, four states better than Calif. This is as of 10/11.

lani, The headline my husband read to me was "per capita." The Statista results are per 100,000 so that may be why the standings are different.

Based on my very brief research, per capita and per 100K are the same. You divide the number of cases by the total population. To keep from using a tiny little decimal, statisticians usually multiply the result by 100K and give the result as a number per 100,000. Whatever, I'm glad your rate is low!

Colin Powell dies at 84 from Covid complications. He was fully vaccinated, but had cancer (multiple myeloma) which is well-known to suppress the immunity response of the vaccines.
