Well, DH just called and told his brother we are cancelling the trip to Utah in April. Neither of us feel really comfortable about traveling, but him more so than me. Still if I insisted and then he got sick I would never forgive myself. I'm still holding out hope for the Alaskan cruise in June though. Not going to throw in the towel there until the last minute. (I can be stubborn. LOL!)

Joyce, we have been on one of these senior bus trips a few years ago and enjoyed letting someone else do the driving. The motel is in Ogunquit, which is a charming town with cute shops and a lovely walk high up above the beach called the Marginal Way. The trip includes an ocean cruise for a few hours, lobster dinner with entertainment, a Kennebunkport city tour, etc. The last trip had a tour of Portland with time off to explore on our own. I've also been on girls' trips with friends up there - a couple on an island off Portland where we rented a house each time, and one friend has access to the condo in Kennebunkport. I know the Bar Harbor area is very nice too, but quite a bit further north.

Seriously, how tone deaf can one be!! Our tax dollars at work again....
HUFF POST....On Thursday, Melania Trump posted about the construction status on the tennis pavilion, with pictures of her wearing a hard hat and looking over what appear to be architectural plans. The private pavilion will be located on the South Lawn of the White House and serve as a "place to gather and spend leisure time for First Families."
Things like this just irked the bejesus out of me!!

"place to gather and spend leisure time for First Families." I thought that was Mara Lago. Oh wait, we're paying for that, too *annoyed*

nashville11, thanks for that info. I did see it later on CNN; just about him retiring from Congress, not the rest of it. Sorry about your trip. DH and I just returned from Grand Nephew's 3rd birthday party. It was a large gathering for sure. There was plenty of hand sanitizer on every table. We just heard of the first covid-19 case in Santa Cruz, the city next door to us, and the first in Hawaii. Both were passengers on a prior cruise on the Grand Princess, the one stuck circling in the ocean off San Fran right now.

The day that moving van pulls up to move them out of the WH I intend to celebrate "bigly". LOL!

Kamala is endorsing Biden. Is this a step closer to being VP? Jesse Jackson is endorsing Sanders. My guess would be that he probably has more influence among older black voters than younger ones, but that's a demographic Sanders needs to attract. Kamala probably has more influence among younger black voters. Then again that may be all pre-conceived ideas with no merits whatsoever. I will be so glad to see this whole presidential campaign over in November, and hopefully we'll all be having a celebration party. I saw Bernie interviewed this morning and he was asked about the danger of large crowds. That's a concern I am sure for both candidates, and it's kind of a "damned if they do, and damned if they don't" kind of thing right now. Also all those handshakes with strangers! Maybe they'll go to the elbow bumps? Said jokingly, but I'm sure it probably really is a concern for them and their teams. The JA meanwhile wants to keep the people stranded on that ship off the coast in order not to raise the numbers of sick people here in the US. Not to try and prevent the spread, mind you, but he actually said not to raise the numbers because it's not his fault that people on that ship are sick. What compassion!

nashville11, I feel for the people on the ship, but it makes sense to keep them quarantined for an extended time. Say Joe has the virus and he doesn't show signs until they're a week into the trip. Sally gets it from Joe, but she doesn't have symptoms for 10 days, meanwhile she's schmoozed with 200 other people who have now been exposed and may not show symptoms for another 10-14 days after they were exposed on Sally's 10th day of no symptoms.. now they're back home, doing their daily routine and spreading it to who knows how many others. I just don't know what the answer is, but my logical mind says quarantine is really the best option for the general population.

Well, if they are going to have to be quantined on the ship, then, I think there should be a bigger effort of attend to their daily needs. Meals, etc. Sounds like that is even a huge problem. Gosh, to have to find out on TV at same time as we did, that many on the ship are infected including 19 crew members, was awful. They deserve more respect than that. So, not right. I agree, just don't know what the answer is. I think when they come off the ship, they should be quantined, even if healthy for another 14 days before being allowed back into their communities. Personally, I would have no problem with that myself. I wouldn't want it on me to spread it in my town. Having someone like Trump in charge makes it scary & a gazillion times worse.

The Grand Princess passengers need to be quarantined just not on the ship. It is a guarantee for the most efficient spread of the virus possible. They need to be taken off the ship, tested, the sick separated from the negative testers and cared for, and those who do not test postive quarantined for the two week period with ongoing testing. But for heavens sake, give the folks who have not contracted it yet a fighting change of staying uninfected.

lani , DotRen , @lka48 , I agree with them being quarantined, and I do think their needs should be better attended to wherever they are quarantined. My complaint with the JA was that his comment yesterday was that with the sick ones coming off the ship and any possibly infected ones that they would make the numbers go up. He actually said he didn't want to see the numbers go up "because it's not our fault." Not that he didn't want to see more people getting sick, but it was all about the numbers looking bad in the polls for him. I think quarantining the ones who are not sick somewhere off the ship would give those people not yet infected the best chance, but they definitely need to be quarantined whether on or off the ship. And yes, all their needs do need to be attended to, and they need to be made as comfortable as possible. I especially feel badly for those poor people who chose an inside room. All the rooms are not very large, but theirs doesn't even have a window to let them look out and see daylight. JA was trying to blame the cruise industry in his statement yesterday. Anything to deflect blame from his administration for the way it's being handled and being so poorly prepared when we've known about this possibility of spreading disease since at least January. We know he doesn't care who or how many actually are sick as long as it doesn't reflect on his administration, but he just blatantly puts it out there that he's only interested in rising blame for himself.

nashville11, oh, I'm totally onboard with any complaint about that idiot. He brought up Ukraine and Fox News during his CDC visit and the media didn't bother to cover it. He's such a douche. I was with a bunch of 10 year olds yesterday that could run rings round his logic, to quote Monty Python.

A hospital in Houston has healthcare workers in self quarantine now because of exposure, but they're refusing to say what location it was. I think that should definitely be made public! I know they're probably going over records of people that went there for care and were seen by those professionals, but to say "we're not going to say the location" is sloppy, to me. Memorial Hermann is a huge hospital system, dozens of locations. 11 Memorial Hermann Employees Self-Quarantined Following Direct Contact With A COVID-19 Patient

The stock market is down already. before it starts. On MSNSBC they started with some interviews about bailing out banks and stock market. Banks are rich. airlines and cruises.
