Ginny, be brave! This should be a joyous occasion, and we want to celebrate with you! Open the box today!
The sun is shining, and I need to start my day with a walk outside. The woofers will be happy! The walk is not a long one, but it's better than no walk, and it's about all I can handle. It's actually more of a slow meander! O

Morning Sue! Good for you getting outside to “meander” with the dogs....the fresh air and sun shine are good for you and them. A nice way to start the day for sure. (And I know its still morning by you even though I am having lunch).
Well I finished the kitchen ceiling and its so much better than it was! Gotta start trimming out the walls- my kitchen is not huge and while there is a fair amount of trimming out to do, once I start rolling it it should go very quickly. Thanks or the enthusiasm about the new machine....ya’all know its going to take me a few weeks to figure out how to plug the darned thing in! And decisions, decisions, do I work out the issue with the stitch problem and the singer. (Remember I had started free motion ) or switch to the sapphire??
Have a good day all Ginny

Sue it's great you were able to get out and walk while the weather is good.If your forecast is like ours you will be getting 3-6 inches of snow .
Ginny, great job to get that ceiling done. My kitchen is much like your's in that there is not much wall to paint but there is a lot of cutting in around cabinets, counter tops, etc. And I doubt that it will take you long to get used to your new machine. You won't be like me and be afraid to use it and put it away for awhile till you get brave enough...you are already brave enough and no distractions. I'm glad your ds is doing the shopping for you since he's out already and can stop on the way home from work or on the way if he doesn't buy frozen things or fresh meat. I hope he buys something good so that you both can enjoy it on Easter. It's a great idea to see your dd#1 and the children. They will boost your spirits and I know that you won't get close enough to them to pass on "germs" or get some from them.
I'm still working on the star shaped blanket and I think my next one will be a gingham. I've wanted to try that for a long time now. This will be the year of learning new techniques for me. I'm so blessed to have all this yarn at my disposal without having to go out or accept boxes in the mail but then again, none of the online sites seem to have much, if any, yarn available so probably couldn't do that anyway. So I'm grateful for what I have.
I hope you're doing ok CJ, I, too heard that there may be an increase in virus cases around your area.
Meg, I hope you're doing ok. We would love to see on stop in
Phyl, I know you have a lot of projects you can do indoors but I, too, wonder how you're doing with the lack of "bummin"

gingham????Ok Ruth, I cannot wait to see how that works in crochet land.
BTW, I get a lot of spam from Megs email now- nothing from her though. Looks like somehow her email was hacked. Yes I hope she is ok and miss her also.
Think I am going to gun it and finish painting the kitchen. Its all trimmed out, so in a half an hour the Job should be done. Just gotta load the dishes get them started and then finish. That means that tomorrow I can put this mess back together and look at my new toy.

Another chore to cross off your list!
I sent Meg an email about a week or so ago but never heard back. She always writes back so I wondered about her email

Despite a slightly achy leg, the kitchen is done. Just gotta put it all back together. Tomorrow morning when the paint is all dry. I will put the room back together. Ruth, I emailed Meg a few weeks ago and then got one of these spam emails back a few days later. Have gotten two or three since also, so now I do not open them at all.
Think I am going to open that big box and take a look at what might be inside.
Have a good night all Ginny

Hello Crafters Ginny - Hope your leg feels better after your rest. Enjoy looking at that new sewing machine Ruth - I've seen a few pictures of gingham crochet projects. I love gingham things so I'm sure it will be cute. What color are you using? Sue - I'm glad you were able to get out and walk. Phyl and Meg - Hope you are both well. The DC metro-Baltimore area has been declared a hot spot for the virus. Cases are increasing every day but I know those are from test results of several weeks ago. I'll be glad when the test results can catch up some and I guess then we'll see a decrease in the cases since hopefully people are staying home. I did drive out today to drop some letters in the outside mailbox at the post office. I was surprised to see lots of cars at both of the grocery stores I passed. I hope that those are more holiday meal shoppers and it's not like this all the time now. I'm not looking forward to when I have to go back into the store. It was windy here again today, but supposed to die down overnight. I'm glad because there is something on the outside of my house by my bedroom that bangs in the wind. I've tried to see what it is, but can't figure it out. It drives me crazy listening to it and makes it difficult to sleep. It was also pretty cold here today, more like a late winter day. I don't mind the cooler weather though. I worked a bit on the quilt. It has children-themed fabrics in it so it's just small. Maybe some child will like it some day - if I get it quilted Take care everyone and have a good weekend!

Hey CJ- glad you got out for a little bit- even if just to drive to the Post office to drop bills/letters off. A change of scenery is nice from time to time. I keep hearing about the DC metro area being one of the next hot spots- and hope that your area stays safe and relatively free from illness. Ds went to the food store this am. There are two stores across the street from each other- the one store (with better prices) is restricting the number of customers entering. Ds did not have to wait long and got in there quickly. He had only a few items on his list anyway. The other store across the street was mobbed- full parking lot- and I am sure social distancing was not being practiced there. Hope a lot of folks do not get sick... Sounds like shopping in your area was similar. How much longer can you go without going into the store? My friend and her husband are going to a small deli/mom and pop kind of store for eggs and milk. Less exposure to others for sure. Think we will all have to ride this storm out and see how it goes. Where I am it looked like the county cases were going down- then yesterday the number of cases were going up. Lets hope for everyones sake that the number of cases go down.....Sounds like you would be a lot of fun to go fabric shopping with- from the mason jar quilt, to this children themed fabric quilt and the cat quilt, you have some neat fabrics to play with. How long have you been collecting??
Ok so I over did it on the leg last night (but the kitchen looks great). A quiet day.....Dd came over to visit, so good to see her. I will see her and Dd#1 and family tomorrow for a little bit in the morning. No big family meal we will just see the kids Easter egg hunt and visit outside with them for a little bit. Ok I took the machine ou t of the box and am starting to look at the manual.I have played with the opal (smaller version) and so it is not too intimidating. The shop owner told me there are some great youtubes to view, so I will check them out. Its going to be a slow process.

Hello Crafters Ginny - I'm glad your DS was able to get some groceries for you. I'm not looking forward to going back to the grocery store again (and that used to be a favorite outing for me). Most of the stores around here have designated aisles as one way, so that will be interesting when I go back. I like to do self-checkout and it's difficult when I have a lot of groceries, so thinking about going again is stressing me out. I should be fine for at least 3-4 more weeks. I'd like to go the last week of April, before the possible rush at the beginning of the month (May). Hope you enjoy the time with family and I'm sure the little ones will enjoy Easter egg hunting. Easter is going to be different for so many people this year I found a lot of great youtube videos for my sewing machine too, I hope you find a bunch that you can look at. I'm excited to hear what you think after you start using the new machine. I started quilting around 1999 and have been collecting fabrics since then. I really do have a lot of fabric, but I know there are other quilters who have much bigger stashes than I do. The thing with my fabric is that I am attracted to prints and theme fabrics and I have bunches of those. But then to use them in a quilt I need to have blender fabrics and I don't have as much of those. I finished piecing up the two small quilt tops done in a children's fabric - Paddington Bear. I have backing for one of them - using a yard of the theme fabric and I had enough fabric to cut binding strips for that same one. Maybe some day a child will enjoy these quilts. I do like having enough fabric for backing and binding strips when I've finished a quilt top. I place those in a large plastic bag and label them for what quilt they are for. I was really hoping to get to a quilt shop and use their longarm machine this spring, but all that is put off. Hopefully someday I'll be able to do that. Now I want to make something completely different. I have lots of panels that I've bought over the years and I've been looking at designs on the internet so I want to try to use a few of those panels next and make a few tops. The area I live in has a lot of cases of the virus - the most in the state. I just hope that since we've been doing more of the shelter-in-place for longer than other states/areas that we'll reach the peak soon and start lowering the cases. Hope everyone is doing well and staying safe. Also that you are all getting in some crafting. Take care everyone!

CJ, I do hope you won't have to go out for awhile. We for sure would not want you to get sick. I agree with Ginny, going fabric shopping with you would be a real treat. You seem to have a great eye for color and know exactly what fabrics will work together. I bet the child's quilt is wonderful. I love child printed fabrics. As for the gingham blanket well I might end up putting that off for awhile or maybe I'll start it and get an idea of how it's done then do other things between times of working on the gingham. I have a bunch of colors of pound of love so I need to see what ones to use. I think they said you have to have three colors.. two in the same color group with one being quite a bit darker then another that will go with those two but is not in that same group. I have to check out the directions before I decide. I see them on the crochet groups all the time and most look really nice. I live the grays that many have in them. But I want to start with a baby size and want to use up my pastels. I have a ton of a pink that Lion said was the breast cancer color and sold for almost nothing. It's an ugly color but I think with white and a lighter pink it will be really good for a baby,
Ginny, sit, rest the knee and enjoy your freshened up kitchen. You can read and study your manual while you do that of course. When I got mine I actually read my manual which I never usually do.Now I refer to it each time I want to use the machine. Many people are not takig this virus seriously at all and I'm sure this weekend with it being Easter, everyone is out shopping regardless of the risk. It's a wonder that we don't have double the deaths we've had. I read on the over 60's thread and very few are curtailing their outings. I don't usually read any other than the one I post on anymore but I have recently because I "know" a lot of those people and wanted to check to see if any are sick. On the thread I post on everyone on there has been out shopping at least once every week and some go out every day despite everything. Most of them sew so they're making masks when home.
Weather forecast was that it would not get above 48 today but when I got up it was already 58. Now it's very overcast, pouring rain and the temp is plummeting. They now say we might get 7 inches. We'll see. It's a good day for crocheting and I think I'll have the star shapped blanket done today.
I'm kind of worried about my nursing school roomate as she called me one day and I didn't hear the phone and now I've tried calling back on two different days and no one answers which is very strange because she and her husband don't go out much at all since she has MS and he has Parkinson's. Their son and dil live with them too. I wanted to let her know that her godchild is in hospice care now because of uterine cancer. I'm pretty sure she'd want to know. She is one of my friends that doesn't use a computer or smart phone strange as that is nowdays.

Oh CJ, you posted while I was typing. The Paddington bear sounds great. I actually have a Paddington which I bought for my son when he was a baby. Using the self checkout really stresses me out so I try to use a real cashier. Standing in line stresses me too but I'd rather do that than self checkout. There are a lot of things I'd like to have but none I really need. I would like to have eggs though. You usually need eggs for making a lot of things like baking.
Ginny, thanks for the info on eggless baking. I looked up recipes and found a lot that I'll be able to use. I made that pineapple upside down cake the other day which called for two eggs but I only put in one and the cake part turned out great so it really didn't need two. There may be lots of things like that but soon I won't even be able to add one.

Good evening,
Just got off the phone with my sister in law and talked her though online ordering of groceries.....they can still get out, but online ordering might be a good thing for them in the future.
Ruth, in the future you can also buy powdered egg whites. they are pricey, but i have used them lots of times instead of eggs, and been pretty happy. Glad your pineapple upside down cake turned out so well. thinking about your nursing school roommate, could she and her husband gone to be with family for the Easter weekend? Hope they are ok.
CJ- so you have a small Joanns fabrics in your house! Some folks (and you must be one of them) have a real eye for theme fabrics. I have another online friend who does lots of quilts with panels and in themes (horses, antique cars, quilts of honor etc....) and she spends more time searching for the coordinating/blender fabrics than the actual themed fabrics. Sounds like you. Please stay safe...stay in. Lord willing your area and mine will be through the worst of it in a few more weeks. Not that it will be totally safe to go out again, but not as many cases. Did you ever make any cloth masks??
Yes, I rested a bit today. And admired the freshly painted kitchen. Got a few minutes to check out the Huskie manual- will check out some youtubes tomorrow. Dd#2 stopped in to say hi for a while, so that took up a lot of my day.
Hi to Sue and Phyl Ginny

Happy Easter!
This morning we have eight inches of snow! Not atypical for Easter here in Montana. Temperature was single digits last night.

Happy Easter all!!!
Sue, that seems nuts to me that you have 8 inches of snow, but then again it was 28 degrees here when I got up this morning - guess its the last remains of winter . Now that you have finished your hat, what are you going to start working on? Any news from Dd and DGD in California?? How are they feeling? Remember that yarn you got in the mail about 3 months ago- if i remember correctly it was made in Europe- or even perhaps Turkey- which I realize is Asia. Did you ever make anything from it?
Went to Dd#1 house for a few hours- it was nice and we stayed outside watching the kids play in the yard and go on their Easter egg hunt. So good to see the little ones...toward the end DGD#2 (the 2 year old) asked me to take her for a walk in the stroller- which I was happy to oblige. I am very close to her (miss babysitting for her!) and going for walks is one of our things to do. So sweet and nice to spend time with them all. DD#2 and her Dh stopped in also. Pleasant morning for sure.

ONe of my favorite Easter hymns
I serve a risen Saviour, He's in the world today I know that He is living, whatever men may say I see His hand of mercy, I hear His voice of cheer And just the time I need Him He's always near He lives (He lives), He lives (He lives), Christ Jesus lives today He walks with me and talks with me Along life's narrow way He lives (He lives), He lives (He lives), Salvation to impart You ask me how I know He lives? He lives within my heart In all the world around me I see His loving care And though my heart grows weary I never will despair I know that He is leading, through all the stormy blast The day of His appearing will come at last He lives (He lives), He lives (He lives), Christ Jesus lives today He walks with me and talks with me Along life's narrow way
Despite the crisis the world is going through and we personally are going through we know we have something to depend on and we know our final destination.
Easter blessing to you all
