Hi All! I searched the site and couldn't find the answer to my question so here it is:
I just got a new phone (s10) and I seem to have lost the ability to transfer my very old, very trusty 3rd party app which no longer exists on the web - I can't even Google it, it's just disappeared. I had over a decade of foods saved in the old app and now I am having to start all over again which is a huge PITA! I have both Value Diary and iTrackBites loaded onto my new phone and am trying both out. I wanted to ask here if what folks are using one or the other, and/or if there is another app that's better than these two. FYI, I need an app that will track the PP plan.
I think the VD app is cheaper to unlock all the options, but I don't care for the look of it. And the iTB app is more expensive to unlock all the functions, but the dashboard seems more user friendly.
Does anyone have thoughts on either of these, or other apps I may not know of?
Thank you so much in advance for sharing your thoughts!

surfgirl, I've heard some people post about a "Lose It" app.

Lose It is for calorie tracking. My favorite is Itrackbites.

Thanks bbbearsmom & borntexan. I'm definitely looking for apps that can track the points plus approach!

surfgirl If you track Points Plus on Itrackbites I don't think you have to pay for the pro version unless you want to use the scanner?I don't know if that's an extra or not. cathygeha is doing Points Plus right now on ITB.If you tag her she may be able to tell you more about it but I don't think she has the pro version.

@ DebDoesWW A while back we had a thread on this and DebDoesWW had information on it. I did tag her so maybe she can give you the information she shared with us.

I wasn't sure if you needed to pay for the food library though. I have to check into that. I do like the scanner, it makes things quick and easy!

surfgirl I don't think you have to pay for the food library.I think the best thing about the pro version is they have restaurant listings if we ever get to eat out again.

I started using ITB about a month and a half ago. I did some research on the programs and there are four free versions and two you pay for.
Basic information about the six plans with a link to click on for more specifics:
This link shows what is free and what is not on the various programs:
ITB FAQS links:
This youtube post discusses briefly what each version is and how it correlates to WW versions (it is less than 10 minutes long and sums the programs up):
I started out on Conquer Cravings - it is pretty much like the original points version 123 Success and 123 points and more specifically Momentum
I did that for a bit over a month
I switched to Carb Conscious a week ago and am deciding if it is better for me - it is like Points Plus I changed to this because fruits are in season and coming in daily. I hated feeling penalized for eating the fruit.
I started tracking on this a bit after my sister joined WW and was tracking on her smart phone doing the blue plan. I don't think I could eat the way she is but she does seem to (maybe) have more flexibility.
I am still weighing the two programs...I see pros and cons to Conquer Cravings and Carb Conscious. I lost in 1998/9 on a program similar to Conquer Cravings version and had good success with it and never having done Points Plus am giving it a whirl. The jury is still out.

surfgirl I did a quick search here and bumped a few threads on 3rd party apps and tagged you in them, ProTracker, ITB and UltimateValueFoodDiary

I'm still using iTrackBites version of PP. I haven't upgraded to get the Recipe function or to participate in the Community but, I do have the scanner and agree it makes things quick and easy. Something happened when they did an update a year ago or so and it cleared out my Favorites list. It was such a PITA until I was able to rebuild it over time. Good luck with whichever you go with!

DebDoesWW , THANK YOU for bumping up those threads, I'll take a look after I post this! doordie50 , I was trying to use the iTBs last night and realized that all I needed to do was scan everything in my fridge and pantry and that would be a pretty good start to building back my library of foods. It was pretty easy! It's a little confusing how to get foods to your Favorites list, but I think I figured it out, you just find something and hit the little heart and it goes to your favs, yes? Also, the Carb Conscious Plan is the PP plan there, yes? What I'm having trouble with is making short cuts where I put in 'enchiladas' and I just want to put in the final PP # per serving. It seems like I can't do that and I have to put in all the NI info again, which is a huge PITA. Is there another way to do that, do you know?

surfgirl, I used itrackbites for a while for points plus. At this time I'm doing just calories on MFP. Here's how I set up a short cut to just add points that I already know. I created a food that I named Quick Add Points. The only nutritional information required to create the food is calories. I put in 0. I assigned it 1 point. Then I saved this as a favorite. When I want to add just points, I search my favorites for Quick Add Points. Then I put in how many servings of this 1 point food to enter the number of points that I want to enter.

Thanks for this tip! I saw that I had to, at a minimum, add the calories, but I wondered if that's all I added how would it know how many points/bites to calculate only from calories...weird

but I wondered if that's all I added how would it know how many points/bites to calculate only from calories...weird It's not calculating points. It's just however many points your're telling it to be. I'm not sure why it even needs calories, unless it's for the dual tracking option where you can track calories as well as points.
